False Gods
Chapter One: New Gods
They didn't understand. How could they? They were human after all, their minds limited and their demise inevitable. It was a tragedy that Castiel had created and ultimately destroyed: His friendship with the Winchesters was truly naïve. He knew now that he could trust no one. He had been betrayed by the angels. By . Sam. Dean. He lost everything protecting them. And the thanks He got? Castiel carefully marked His steps as He walked through the charred grass. A wind fell through the fields of Heaven and Castiel took in what remained of it. Still, no one had thanked Him. They would thank Him.
"Understand, if you followed Raphael if you stood against me: punishment is certain. There is nowhere to hide," razor-sharp eyes narrowed in on their locations as they saw beyond the fabric of reality. Their sins shone brighter than any star in Heaven as it sent out a beacon to the new God. Castiel continued, "The rest of you: our father left a long time ago. That was hard. I thought the answer was Free Will. But I understand now...you need a firm hand. You need a Father. And I am your Father now. Be obedient children: or this will be your fate." A corpse stared back at him as its once Holy essence was burned into the ground. Castiel stepped over it as he made his way through hundreds more like it. His victory finally settled into the bones of his vessel as He took a deep breath of air and smiled, "It is a new day, on Earth and in Heaven: Rejoice."
Castiel opened his eyes and the location shifted. Light from the windows bounced off of silver walls as the power inside of Him flared. He could sense how close It was now. The center of all the power in the universe, ripe for the taking. Castiel slowly walked through the maze of the Heavenly building as his trench coat brushed the corpses beneath his feet. Charred wings melted the walls, sending a very clear message to any who remained. Obey. or Die. They should celebrate. He saved them from Raphael. Castiel saved Heaven and Earth from the False God. Raphael was undeserving. Castiel had seen that and stepped in. The god stepped into an elevator and reached to press the very top button. A button that hadn't been pressed in a hundred billion years. Castiel hesitated, wishing for a moment that the Winchesters were here with him. That Dean could share this with Him. But His family was dead to Him. They had tried to kill him. The first button seemingly stared back at him as he pulled away. They didn't understand why He chose this path. God didn't care. His father left them all and yet people still worshipped him.
Soft elevator music began to fill the elevator and Castiel ground his teeth, "I'm here," He said, "I'm here and he isn't. I need you to understand that." His voice lost some of its gruffness as he whispered, "I will never leave you. I will never leave any of you," the first button was pushed back as it lit up unprecedentedly. As the elevator began to rise the god started to feel His building connection to It. Something that Castiel thought that He would never have the chance to feel. The doors opened and a bright light engulfed Him. This room was free of bloodshed- free of disloyalty. It was Holy. Castiel stepped out and began to walk across the untarnished floor. This was The Host. His eyes fell on the most beautiful sight in the multiverse. He lost his breath and despite never needing to breathe, it felt significant. This is why He was brought back. His father knew that he was unworthy of this power and therefore inherited it down to Castiel. No more False Gods. He stepped closer as the silver Throne in the middle of the room echoed its power to all. The Host was not to be understated. Castiel slowly worked his way up the steps as flashes of his past were destroyed as soon as they arrived. He didn't need them. He didn't need anyone. He slowly turned around as he reached the top. They needed Him.
"And so it must be," Castiel spoke as He took a seat on The Throne. His hands gently laid on the armrests and settled in. Dark blue eyes flashed as his voice pierced
across the Heaven and Hell, "Rejoice. For your God has returned."
