Reluctantly, he opened the door wider to let us in. It revealed a beautiful family room adorned with three armchairs and a large sofa. Emmett, Rosalie, and Esme all sat in various seats, staring at us.

After a minute of deafening silence, I finally said, "Hi, I'm Alice. This is Jasper. I have a lot to explain, but first - when do you think Edward will return from his hunting trip?"

Everyone exchanged confused glances. "How did you know that?" Carlisle questioned, and I noticed him move slightly towards Esme, trying to protect her.

"I think you're getting ahead of yourself, Alice." Jasper reminded me.

"Right, sorry." An image of Edward running back from the woods flashed in my mind, set to five minutes in the future. "Well, I suppose we can explain it to him when he gets back."

"What's going on?" Emmett asked.

"Ok, well…" I looked towards Jasper, who shrugged. "I saw all of you. In my future. We were all living together in some sort of coven, like the one that you all are in now."

"You see the future?" The wonder in Carlisle's voice wasn't well hidden.

"Yes. I see many different possibilities, constantly changing and shifting. But when Jasper and I met, a vision of us, together, appeared clear as ever. It's fate."

Esme and Carlisle shared a meaningful look. Then, Esme said, "Well this is all a lot to take in...Carlisle and I will go discuss this. We'll be back soon."

Jasper and I both nodded, but the heightened possibility of rejection put us both on edge. I rapidly flipped through scenes in my head, trying to find the image of us leaving the house, alone and empty handed, but none appeared. Perhaps that was a good thing, but it didn't seem like it at the time.

Rose and Emmett sat in silence, glancing awkwardly around the room. Neither of them knew what to say. Finally, Rose said, "How did you two meet? And how long have you been...seeing…us?"

Jasper spoke. "We met only a week ago, at a diner in Philadelphia. She saw me in her future and found me the same way we found you."

"And I first saw brief glimpses of you, but they became much more clear when I found Jazz."

Rosalie asked, "So you know what's going to happen before it does?"

"Yes."

Emmett raised his eyebrows.

As I continued to search for a vision of rejection, a scene appeared. It was of Emmett pulling out a baseball from his pocket and throwing it at inhuman speed, towards my stomach.

I instinctively placed my hand at the exact spot it would reach just as the baseball left his hands. My hand caught the ball and I threw it back to him, which he caught while staring at me with wide eyes.

"You're no joke." He said.

Our conversation was interrupted by the familiar sound of quick footsteps against the grass. Everyone turned their heads towards the door, awaiting Edward's arrival.

After only seconds, a lean man with thick brown hair and a set jaw appeared in the door frame. He seemed confused and almost...overwhelmed.

"Oh, good, you're finally here. I have much to explain." I said.

He stared at me like I'd grown another head. "First, explain what the hell is going on inside your head."

Sorry for the super short chapter, but lately I've been working on another exciting fanfic with another user...one that I'll try to keep under wraps until I know when it will be ready to post. I'll try to post the next update soon, but as I just mentioned, I've been pretty busy lately. ;)
