"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"How...how are you doing that?" His eyes widened as if he could actually see my visions spread out before him.

"Of course." Jasper muttered.

I turned to him and knit my eyebrows together in confusion. Then, it dawned on me. Jasper was right - it made perfect sense. Why he seemed to understand everyone around him, why he was so overwhelmed even though he wasn't seeing my visions - he was.

"You can read minds." I said, mostly to myself.

Edward didn't respond, still staring at me with a mixture of shock and amazement on his face.

"Hello? You in there, Ed?" Emmett asked and stood up to wave his hand in front of his brother's face.

He finally seemed to come out of his trance, though his eyes were still wide when he said, "Sorry. It's just that...she's seeing everything."

Everyone turned their heads towards me. I laughed nervously. "Yeah, sorry. It can be a bit overwhelming sometimes."

He scoffed. "Yes, just a bit."

"So I suppose there's no reason to explain anything to you now. You can already see it in our thoughts." Jasper spoke.

"You're Jasper, that's Alice. She can see the future, though it's subjective, and you can control and sense emotions. An emotional climate, so to speak."

"Exactly."

"And you both came here because Alice saw all of us in her future, as a coven."

"Correct." I responded.

Emmett stepped towards me and put his hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry. Esme's never one to turn down anyone, especially if it means that she can remodel again."

My jaw dropped. "She designed all of this?"

"Yep. Took her months, but she's never been one to turn down a challenge."

I shook my head in disbelief. My eyes found Edward's, but his expression was unreadable. While Rosalie and Emmett seemed to be adjusting to the idea of two more siblings, I didn't need an emotional climate to see that he wasn't as welcoming.

Carlisle and Esme returned a moment later, wearing wide smiles. I noticed Jasper immediately light up from their happiness, and soon I was smiling as well.

"We've thought a lot about this, and…" Esme looked at her husband, who nodded to her. "We think you deserve a place in this family."

I could hardly contain my happiness. It didn't seem logical that I was so unsure when no future showed a negative outcome, but it somehow didn't seem real until Esme said it. We were home.

Bouncing on the balls of my feet, I pranced over to Esme and hugged her tightly. She seemed surprised at first, but soon exchanged our embrace. Jasper followed me, wearing a similar smile.

My eyes flickered to Edward again, who was looking out the window, stone-faced. A vision showed him bolting out of the house in just a minute.

I tapped Carlisle's shoulder and nodded my head towards Edward just as his blurred figure ran out the door.

A sigh seemed to leave everyone in the room. They were all too familiar with this side of Edward - a brooding, lonely man who denied any sense of happiness.

"I apologize for his behavior." Carlise said. "He isn't always as joyful as the rest of us, though I'm sure Jasper already knows that."

"You don't need to apologize." I assured him.

With another sigh, he muttered, "I should go talk to him." And went after his son.

I exchanged an apprehensive look with Jasper before taking a seat on the couch at the center of the room. Emmett and Rosalie had stood up during the former conversation, but they both returned to their seats as well. Esme refused to sit, though - she paced back and forth nervously.

"Esme, it's going to be okay." I said to her.

"I know, I know. I just get so worried about him. He's all alone, you know. And he was Carlisle's first child, and...so much has changed." She stopped her pacing and perched on the arm of one of the armchairs. "He's a good person."

"I know."

The room sat in silence for a moment, but it was quickly broken by Emmett, predictably. "So you can feel all of my emotions?"

Jasper laughed. "Yes."

"Hm…" He grinned and started focusing on something, like he was concentrating on one thought in particular. I only realized what he was thinking about when he began biting his lip and Rosalie widened her eyes at him.

"Oh, please, stop. Please." Jazz cringed.

Em roared with laughter and even Rosalie couldn't stop an embarrassed grin.

Esme glared at her son, scolding, "Emmett! Be a gentleman, won't you? Especially in front of your new siblings."

I was distracted from her endearing words by my own thoughts, which wandered to perhaps some of the things Emmett had distracted himself with…

Jasper's eyes widened and he cleared his throat. "Oh, um, will you excuse me for just a minute? I'd like to...um...go on a walk. Care to join me, Alice?"

"Yes, I would. Thank you." I said, and I was sure that I'd be blushing if I could.

Emmett asked, "Can I come?"

"No." We both answered firmly before rushing out the door.

We could hear his booming laugh from outside.

"Woah, woah, woah, friendly reminder that this is a child friendly story, Alice." Bella warns me.

I laugh. "Don't worry, I'll keep it PG."

Renesmee giggles as well, though I doubt she knows what we're talking about.

"And it's time for bed, anyways."

"Aw, not yet. Just five more minutes." Nessie groans at her mother.

Bella rolls her eyes. "You said that an hour ago. Twelve year olds need their sleep."

"It's not fair. How come I have to have a bedtime when you guys don't?"

I stand up from my seat on the bed and say, "Well, for one thing, we're adults. Not to mention that we literally can't sleep."

Renesmee sighs and slumps her head against her pillow. "I wish I was a vampire."

"You're already halfway there." I joke. "Goodnight, Nessie."

"Night, Aunt Alice." She calls back to me before I leave her and Bella in the bedroom.

"Bedtime stories?" I turn to see Jasper standing in the hallway, grinning.

"Yep."

"She never gets tired of it, does she?"

I laugh. "Nope."

"Let's see...you've told that story a dozen times? Two dozen?"

"What can I say? She loves a good romance." I walk closer and capture his lips in mine, wrapping my arms around his torso.

"So do I." Jazz answers after pulling away from our kiss.

I suddenly run out of the room and through the door. He follows me, laughing, and we sprint through the night's shadows together.

"She's going to want me to finish it tomorrow, you know." I call back to him.

"I know." He answers. "She always does."

What do you guys think of this little twist? I actually had the idea of Alice telling this story to Renesmee towards the beginning of Comet and kept trying to find the right spot to put it in...but I think that this placement is pretty good. Don't worry - this isn't the end! As we've just learned, Nessie wants Alice to finish the story in the morning. This chapter is longer than usual, which I did on purpose. Some of my updates are so short that it barely takes five minutes to read, and I just don't think that that's very enjoyable.
