To try and get back in the swing of things, I decided to try my hand at a one-shot. Believe it or not, I've never written one before, all my stories tend to be longfics. They… vary in quality and consistency, but I'm hoping I can avoid that with a short and sweet story.

Now, for those of you who don't know, I LOVE Mob Psycho 100. You may be confused by this, seeing the sheer degree of Pokemon and DBZ fics under my own name and my list of favorites. Well, I've found with fanfiction that the better the series, the less time it gets in the limelight. It's hard to improve upon a quality product, especially one so cohesive in its creation. Sadly that led to Mob having very few fics to his name.

And yeah, as much as I love it, I really don't see much room to do something different with an already amazing series, at least nothing big. But there is a little opening I see for a nice, heartwarming, slice of life piece that I think will come out looking very good. I don't know how many people will ever see this, giving the more or less complete inactivity of the Mob Psycho 100 archive, but for anyone who does find this, I hope you enjoy!

Please note that this story will contain spoilers for the end of the manga!

"Goda, Musashi."

The rather large teen stood up from his place among his classmates, walking up onto the stage to accept his diploma. The auditorium was filled with the normal amount of polite applause, save for a small group placed off to the side, where supporting hollars and whoops rang out.

Mob wasn't one for such excess expression, but he did his part in standing up and clapping vigorously for his friend. He and the rest of the Body Improvement Club had gathered together for the graduation ceremony. It was only right, as after today, most of them would be leaving. Goda, Yamamura, Kumagawa, and Shimura were all up to receive their diplomas today, and would be going off either to high school or to join the work force in the time following today's ceremony.

Goda stood on stage, smiling as he held his diploma and shook the principle's hand, before turning to Kamuro and shaking his as well. Another round of applause, more heavily concentrated around the booming cheers from the Body Improvement Club, rang out as he made his way down off of the stage and back to his friends.

"I gotta tell you, I was starting to get worried near the end there" Goda admitted as the principle called the next name on the list. "The final exams were brutal, not to mention the entrance exams."

"Oh come on, we told you you'd be fine, you big bastard" Onigawara said with a grin, punching him on the shoulder.

"Yeah, well, it wasn't just on me" Goda said with a light chuckle, turning to Mob. "Do you think your brother has time to join us later? I want to thank him again for helping me study."

Mob smiled. "I think Ritsu can make it" he said, looking back to the stage where his brother, along with the rest of the student council stood behind Shinji. "Mom and Dad aren't taking us out until later, so there should be some time after the ceremony is over."

"I'm glad to hear that. Your brother really saved me here" Goda laughed. "I'll need to make it up to him some day. I don't think I'd have left my chair today if not for him."

"You know you could have asked us to help you out" Kumagawa said, nudging his friend.

"Oh, you were trying to prepare for exams too, I didn't want to hurt your grades just to raise mine" Goda protested.

"Ritsu was happy to help, and he's in his second year, so our exams weren't very hard" Mob explained.

"Maybe comparatively, a few of those questions had me stumped for a while there" Sagawa admitted. "Then again your brother is at the top of the class, so it was probably a breeze for him, eh?"

Mob smiled. "Yeah, he's already studying for his entrance exam to Thyme High."

Yamamura let out a low whistle. "He has his sights set high. I just applied to Pepper myself. Taking exams are stressful enough without needing to take another because you didn't make the cut."

"I'll tell you, Thyme's entrance exams are brutal compared to anything this place prepared us for" Kumagawa said. "I like to think I was well prepared, but I'm still not sure I made it in."

"Kumagawa, Hiroshi."

"Well, at least there's one thing I'm sure I got" he said, standing up as applause filled the auditorium again.

The rest of the ceremony proceeded like clockwork. The group relaxed, occasionally talking about the future between students, always giving courteous applause and going wild when one of their own walked on stage. Soon, as Yamamura walked off of the stage, the rest of them settled down, all of their names having been called. He raised his diploma in the air, smiling widely back at them, while missing someone who had their leg stretched into the walkway. His eyes went wide for a brief moment as he began to fall forward.

There was a dim flash as Yamamura's legs left the ground, and flipped completely over, spinning through the air and landing on his feet afterwards. There were a few loud laughs and extra applause that rang through the auditorium as he looked stunned, before chuckling and glancing back over to Mob, who smiled and lowered his hand as the psychic energy faded.

Yamamura walked back over and clapped him on the shoulder. "Thanks for the save, Kageyama, though I don't know what I'm gonna do if someone asks me to do that again later" he said with a laugh.

Mob smiled. "Just make sure no one tries to trip you" he said. "Then that won't be a problem."

"Good point" Yamamura said, nudging Mob as he sat down.

There weren't many students left after Yamamura, and as the last one walked off stage, Kamuro took the stand. "Thank you all for your patience. I would like to offer congratulations to the third years of Salt Middle School, for making it through this trying year" he said, glancing down for a moment. "You have done incredibly well through the trials this year has presented. My own lapse in judgement, as well as the two attacks Seasoning City has suffered this year no doubt disrupting your home life. Yet despite the odds, you have all succeeded. Not a single one of you won't be moving on this year, and to that, you have earned the utmost respect in the minds of your peers and professors alike. More than any other year this school has seen, you have earned those diplomas in your hands. Once again, I offer you the most sincere of congratulations."

The auditorium exploded into cheers. Mob clapped lightly, though a little less enthusiastically than his classmates, cheeks burning a bit as he wrestled with the feelings he had about one of those two attacks coming from him. He felt a stir of discontent deep inside of him, and reached in to soothe it. He and ?% were still working to get in sync and become truly one and the same, and there was no doubt his other side was feeling similarly about the reminder.

This went unnoticed by the rest of the Body Improvement Club, however, who were clapping each other on the back and pumped to the brim with energy from the sheer excitement they felt, having made it through the year successfully. Kamuro allowed the third years to get their cheers out of the way before continuing. "We are hosting a farewell party for the third years in the cafeteria after the ceremony concludes. No one is obligated to attend, but all third years are welcome." He gave a warm smile to the entire auditorium. "Aside from that, you are all dismissed. Have a wonderful break everyone, and I look forward to seeing the rest of you back here next Fall!"

There was a wave of movement as students began to file out, many faster than others, obviously anxious to escape the walls of the school. Mob and the rest of the Body Improvement Club were slow leaving, being clear on the other side of the room from the doors and waiting a bit for the crowd to thin out. Goda was glancing towards the doors. "You know, it's nice of the school to throw a farewell party, but I don't think we'll be going. Especially if Sagawa, Onigawara, and Kageyama can't come with us-"

"Are you kidding?" Sagawa asked. "Go on, this is for you, enjoy it. We can wait a little bit to have our last meeting."

"Yeah, seriously, this shit is all for you, don't squander it" Onigawara said. "We ain't going anywhere."

Goda looked back to the two of them. "Are you sure? I'd hate to keep you here just waiting for us."

Shimura shrugged. "I don't feel one way or another about it."

Sagawa gave the group a thumbs up. "I'm fine. Kageyama?"

"I don't mind waiting a bit. You guys should enjoy your party" Mob said, giving a thumbs up of his own.

Goda scratched his head. "Well, in that case…" he said, looking at the others. "I suppose we can stop in for a bit. But we won't keep you waiting for too long. Maybe we can meet in an hour?"

"An hour sounds good" Mob said. "Should we meet in the classroom?"

"Sounds good to me" Goda agrees. "We can bid our farewells to the Telepathy Club while we're there too."

"I'll meet you guys outside" Onigawara said. "I got a couple of punks of my own to see off."

"It sounds good to me. Well, I don't know if Tome will be there" Mob says, thinking. "She might have work with Reigen today. I don't know if she might have gone in early because we're allowed out."

"Ah well, no harm in checking in on the others at any rate" Kumagawa said. "Anyways, we should go now if we're gonna go, looks like the crowd's thinning out."

"Good eye Kumagawa" Goda said. "Alright, we'll see you three in an hour!"

"Have fun!" Sagawa waved.

"Yeah, you better" Onigawara demanded.

"Enjoy your time" Mob said with a wave of his own.

They watched as their friends left the room, Onigawara quickly leaving after them, then turned to each other. Sagawa fixed Mob with an expectant look. "Did your old mentor come through?" he asked.

Mob nodded. "Yeah, Reigen helped me figure out where to get and customize them. I did a few jobs for him to help pay for them too."

Sagawa grinned. "Awesome. I'm glad he was still willing to help you out, even though you aren't working for him anymore."

At this, Mob smiled. "Well, just because he's not my master or my boss anymore doesn't mean he's any less of a great guy, and a great friend" he said.

"Well I'm thankful for him helping us out" Sagawa said. "Wanna go chill with the Telepathy Club until the others are done?"

Mob nodded.

Tome was, in fact, already gone. Inukawa confirmed this, as she had stopped by to say goodbye to them before heading off. Mob was a little sad that he didn't get to see her off from Salt Middle School like he did with the members of the Body Improvement Club, but he saw her fairly often at the Spirits and Such Consultation Office, so he wasn't too torn up about it.

He and Sagawa chilled with Kijibayashi, Inukawa, and Saruta, who alternated between playing games and discussing the events of last New Years, as well as planning for the next one. The Body Improvement Club were sceptical of what they had really seen up on the mountain that night, but after so long of sticking with the story they were starting to come around, and Sagawa asked a few questions about what the aliens were like while they were waiting.

Before they had even realized it, an hour had passed, and the door burst open, quickly earning the attention of everyone in the room.

"BODY IMPROVEMENT!" Goda roared.

"FIGHT! ON!" Sagawa and Mob chanted back.

The four walked in. Kumagawa came in holding two plates. "Just because you guys weren't allowed at the party doesn't mean you can't share in the spoils" he said, handing one to the two of them, a slice of pizza and a cupcake on each. "C'mon, eat up and lets get started on our workout."

Sagawa accepted his plate with a grin. "Well, you should always do a bit of carb loading before a heavy workout" he said.

"Thank you very much" Mob said as he accepted his own.

It wasn't much food, and it didn't take them long to eat, but it gave the remaining members of the Body Improvement Club time to make the rounds and give affectionate farewell noogies to the remaining Telepathy Club members, and wishes of a successful following year.

As Mob swallowed his final bit of cupcake, and sent a text to his brother to ask if he could stop by in a while, the rest of the club finished changing into their workout clothes. Mob quickly left and changed into his own, before heading outside to meet them all there. Goda gave a quick nod to Mob as he jogged up. "Alright gang, this is our last time all here together. We're gonna push ourselves to our limits and feel the burn! Are you with me?!"

"YES!" the rest of them cheered.

Goda nodded, turning around, legs tensing. "BODY IMPROVEMENT!"

"FIGHT! ON! FIGHT! ON!"

The sun had passed overhead by the time they came to a stop, probably around half past one. Mob was sweating a lake into his workout clothes, but smiling through his exhaustion as he guzzled water from his bottle.

Goda was breathing a little heavily, but looked extremely satisfied. "Good job everyone. I'm happy that we'll be leaving this club on a high note." He turned to Mob. "Kageyama, I'm especially impressed with you in particular. When you first joined, you could barely make it half a circuit before collapsing. Today, you kept up with us the whole time. You embody the ethic of the Body Improvement Club." He finished this, extending his hand.

Mob, lungs burning a bit too much to manage a verbal response, grasped Goda's hand and shook it. "Th… thanks…" he managed to sputter out after a moment.

Sagawa slung an arm around his comrade. "Even if you only joined to impress a girl, you've come far" he said, a little teasing, causing Mob to blush.

"Even if that's how he started, he grew to find the true meaning behind body improvement" Goda said, clapping Mob on the shoulder. "It's not something you do for others, or to make yourself look more appealing. Body improvement is fueled by the desire to become better, to improve for one's self. And you figured that out on your own."

His blush deepened a bit, but the words of encouragement felt good to hear. Sagawa patted him again before stepping away. "It was a great last year for the club" he said, tone a little melancholy, but still content. "I'm gonna miss this."

Goda chuckled. "Well, it's not like we're leaving the country. We're still friends aren't we? A-"

"Oh I know, but you know what I meant. It's not gonna be like we can all walk here after class and begin pumping iron anymore" Sagawa said, glancing at Mob. "Speaking of pumping iron…"

Seeing the signal, Mob nodded. His psychic powers curled around him before reaching into the brush, several shapes flying out rapidly. The others flinched briefly, before they saw what Mob had brought out. Mob gave a big smile of his own. "I… Me and Sagawa wanted to have something for everyone to remember the club by" he said.

The four of them reached out and grabbed what was there, staggering a little bit at the weight. Mob dropped the special dumbbells into their hands, smiling as he watched for their reactions as they looked at them and gave an experimental lift, each of them breaking out into smiles of their own. Each one was customized, the handle having the name of its recipient and the words "Body Improvement" inscribed, with the words "FIGHT ON" emblazoned on either end.

Satisfied, Mob reached back and brought out the sets for him, Sagawa, and Onigawara as well. He sat his on the ground as the others held them. "I thought 75 pounds would be good, for something to remember us by and use in every workout" he said, hoping that it was good enough. His own were only 50 pounds, which was still a bit out of his abilities, but he was hoping to grow into it.

They all looked to him, giant grins on their faces. A few of their eyes seemed to be shining but he didn't see the need to speculate. "These are wonderful. Kageyama. Sagawa" Goda said.

Sagawa rubbed the back of his head. "Oh, all I really did was chip in on the cost. Kageyama had the idea and found out how to get them like this" he said.

"I probably wouldn't have been able to get them if you hadn't helped" Mob pointed out. "You deserve just as much credit as m-" he found himself cut off as the rest of the club surrounded them and began tossing them into the air. After getting over the initial shock, Mob let out a laugh of pure joy, Sagawa chuckling beside him. Onigawara wasn't a part of the tossing, but looked up at them, his angry-happy smirk present on his face.

As the two of them were let down, Shimura sighed and scratched the back of his head. "Well, after all of this, our thing seems kind of anticlimactic" he said.

Yamamura shrugged. "Who would have thought that the two of them would have surprised us with such nice mementos?" he asked.

Mob felt confused, and Sagawa looked like he felt. "What thing?" Sagawa asked.

Goda chuckled, walking over to his bag. "Well, we were hoping to surprise you a bit with this, but we didn't realize you had this big farewell to the club planned" he said as he dug through it, before walking back with a paper in hand.

Kumagawa smiled. "This might be the last time this Body Improvement Club meets, but it's not the end of it with you three still here."

"Since we're no longer going to be here, I stopped by the office before we came over" Goda said. "I had a talk with Kamuro, and while it was unorthodox, he agreed to maintain the club, and I transferred presidency to you, Sagawa."

Looking at the paper, Sagawa gaped a bit. "What? But, we only have three members left, that's not enough for a club. And, president?" he asked.

"You're going to be the most veteren member left" Goda said. "But you won't be running it alone. Kageyama, you're vice president of the club now."

Mob's eyes widened. "Really? Me?" he asked.

Yamamura clapped him on the shoulder. "Yeah you!" he said. "Sagawa has more experience, but no one here doubts your spirit and willpower." He draped his other arm around Sagawa, pulling him in and making him drop the paper. "I'm sure the club will be in great hands with the two of you running things."

"And Kamuro let me know that there's been interest in the Body Improvement Club from other students. Seems like a lot of them were impressed with Kageyama's improvement after joining" Goda continued. "They couldn't join because it was too late in the year, but he has no doubt you'll have enough interested applicants come Fall to fulfill the member requirements."

Shimura cracked a grin. "You had better not start slacking without us around to crack the whip" he said.

Sagawa freed himself from Yamamura's arm and shot back with "You wish, we're gonna have first years outlifting you before the end of next year, mark my words."

"That's the spirit!" Shimura laughed.

A warm feeling, separate from his burning limbs, was growing in Mob's chest. "I… I've never been trusted to run anything before" he said. "I hope I can live up to your expectations."

93%... 94%...

"My only expectation is that you keep trying as hard as you've been trying" Goda said. "Try and instill some of that fighting spirit that brought you this far into the newcomers."

"I will!" Mob declared. It was at that moment that he noticed a figure approaching in the distance. "Oh, Ritsu is here."

Goda turned around. "That he is" he said, turning back to them. "Well, I think that about covers it." He picked up his set of dumbbells off of the ground. "Just because we won't be at the same school or part of the same club anymore doesn't make us any less friends, remember that."

Friends. So much had changed for Mob that year. When it had started, had had so much less than what he had now. A much tighter bond with his brother. An acceptance of the powers he had been born with. Respect and care for himself. Physical and emotional strength. So many things he had gained. But more importantly than any of that was the friends he had made. Friends, something he lacked for most of his life. Something he found vitally important now. And it had all began here.

98%

"Care to sound us off, Mister President?" Goda asked.

Sagawa nodded. "Mister Vice President, care to help me?" he asked, looking to Mob.

Friends that wouldn't be any less his friends, just because they didn't go to the same school anymore.

Mob nodded, taking in a deep breath.

"BODY IMPROVEMENT! FIGHT! ON!"

Like I said before I wrote all of this, I've never written a one shot before. After only ever writing longfics (and not yet having ended one at that) this ending feels a bit abrupt to me, though it also feels like the right place to stop. Is this what writing a short, closed circuit, complete story feels like? I hope it's just my unfamiliarity causing this feeling.

Mob Psycho 100 is an absolutely beautiful series, and I suppose this is sort of like my love letter of appreciation to it. I hope those who read it enjoyed it as much as I did. While they never got fleshed out to a great degree, the Body Improvement Club are some of my favorite side characters in all of anime, and just generally some of the coolest people around.

I did my best to stay as faithful to the end of the manga as possible, including rereading the final chapter to make sure I had my facts straight before writing this. Maybe if we have any others who have finished the manga here, you can tell me how organic this felt. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

At any rate, I hope you all enjoyed my first one shot and my first fic on the absolute gem that is Mob Psycho 100. If any of my readers who came here from my other stories haven't seen it, all I can say is that you're missing out on one of the best anime you will ever know if you don't watch it. I had a lot of fun writing this, and I feel a bit more warmed back up to my writing now. Again, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this story, so if you want, please drop a review with your thoughts. And I will see you the next time I have something to post!
