SAM'S POV
Did I say rebirth was painful? Well, having your body change into a vampire is much worse.
The best way to explain it is being on fire. For three full days.
When the pain finally stopped, I felt two things at the same time.
I felt powerful, like nothing can stop me, like I'm a god.
I felt thirsty, extremely thirsty.
I could remember from the books the description of the thirst, it downplayed it.
Using me sense of smell, I quickly caught a deer before even noticing I moved, draining him and moving onward to the next target, using my sense of danger to guide my body and mind away from the tribe, away from the wolfs.
A month later
When I finally drank enough blood to think rationally again, I checked on all of my abilities by freeing my spirit from my body, letting the body that should be unable to rest do exactly that as my spirit flew and I checked myself.
My spirit seemed to change with my body, with the lights I stole that flew around it becoming stronger, which made him remember the books mentioning that the change has the ability to strengthen abilities.
Another change was that my spirit now seemed to have one red eye and one golden.
Making sure no other change has occurred, I returned to my body, looked for a location of water, and checked myself.
With my skin now pale enough to look like an untanned white person, two eyes that were colored yellowish orenge, and my body's scars now gone, with the exception of the self inflicted spear wound, I looked like an entire different person.
But I didn't care.
I already gotten used for a new body once, what is one more time.
Now it is time to muster my control over myself, my bloodlust, and my powers.
Yes, it will take time, but what do I have but time?
150 years later
I started small.
I created a chickens farm and let their blood fill my nose and body, resisting and giving in in an unending circle.
It took 2 years until I could sit in a tub full of chicken's blood and not care.
I then moved to goats.
It took 50 years to reach a state where I lose control when I'm near any animal's blood, even if I'm in the middle of a hunt.
I then moved to humans.
The difference between animal blood and human blood is like the difference between water and wine, you can live on water, but you don't want to live without wine.
I joined the battles then.
Only at nights or on gloomy days when there is no sun.
I started with conflicts between the Natives and the colonies, and when it started, I joined the independence war.
Changing my side in every other battle, fighting all sides and keeping chaos alive while kidnapping people who won't be missed.
Whether its corpses, slaves, or people without any standing, I took them all, working from the most unpleasant human blood, to the most pleasant.
It took another 100 years, but my bloodlust was finally controlled.
Of course, that wasn't all I did in those years.
With the battlefield rich with blood, it wasn't surprising other vampires were in those.
Whenever I ran into one of my kind I fought them, using the fighting skills I gained as a human to achieve victory and kill them, not before making sure they don't have any ability and if they do steal it.
About the stolen abilities, I found out my ability to take other people's powers seemed to work just fine, only I can't strengthen weak abilities, it seems like something only done once, when changed to a vampire.
Other then that, I managed to control my abilities greatly.
I now have every one of my six senses, strength and speed strengthened to a level beyond most vampires, have a danger sense, can create a field that make people ignore me, track a person He only saw once and feel the bonds between people.
I also learned that two of the exact powers can't create twice the affect, but if one power has an advantage other power doesn't, it can merge.
I noticed it when I took a power similar to my danger sense from a redheaded vampire who had one difference- my danger sense tell me the name of the threat like a shout, while the other is like bells that scream in my head from the side the danger comes.
The last thing I worked on is shifting.
After becoming a vampire and controlling my thirst, my mind felt cleaner then it ever been, which is why I noticed something that I ignored since when I heard for the first time (or second? Do I consider the book I read in my first life as the first time) about the transformation to wolf.
The chief and the other spirit warriors stole the body of a wolf before forcing it with their spirit to change into human form.
If that's possible, and spirit abilities can grant the human body supernatural abilities, can I do the same? Can I gain the power to shapeshift?
Well, I have got nothing but time.
