Light sat silently at the door to Papyrus' room, listening as Sans' soft voice floated through the open door. He was reading aloud to the taller skeleton, though what the book was, she had no idea. His deep voice was warm and comforting.

She looked up at the door as she heard them say 'good night' and waited for Sans to come through the door.

"Shouldn't you be asleep?"

Light nearly jumped out of her skin. She spun to face the skeleton suddenly next to her, falling onto her back in her haste. To his credit, Sans didn't laugh at her, instead patiently waiting for her to pick herself up. Scrambling back into a sitting passion, she bit her lip.

"I… I was waiting up for you." She began nervously. "I wanted to ask you something."

"Shoot."

"I… I wanted to ask…" Light looked away, tangling her fingers in her blue and pink sweater.

Why had she thought this was a good idea? This was so embarrassing. She shouldn't have bothered; it was a dumb idea anyway. Sans had better things to do than…

"Did you want a bedtime story too?"

Light's cheeks flushed a light pink. She had not expected him to figure it out.

"You don't have to do that." She murmured. "Besides, isn't it weird that someone my age wants a bedtime story?"

To her surprise, Sans still didn't laugh at her. Instead, he smiled and stood up, shaking his head.

"Nah, why would it be weird? Everyone likes being read to, that why we have audio books." He held out his hand and helped her up. "And luckily, I have this particular story memorised, so we don't have to wake Papyrus getting the book."

Together, they walked down the stairs into the living room, where the couch had bee set up as a makeshift bed for Light. Getting onto the couch, she wrapped the blandket loosly around her shoulders. With that done, she turned to Sans.

"I'm ready." She said softly.

Sana frowned, before grabbing the blanket and wrapping it tightly around her. He then grabbed her pillow and put it behind her to lean against. When he was done, Light looked like a human caterpillar, wrapped in a blanket cacoon. Giving his handy work a quick once over, he nodded and grinned.

"Now you're ready." He said.

Sitting down on the couch next to her, he began the story. His deep voice relaxed the young woman beside him, gently easing her into a contented smile as she listened. Sa the story came to an end, the two simply sat, enjoying the calm atmosphere.

"Hey, Sans?" Light said softly, her words slightly slurred.

"Yeah?"

Sans blinked in surprise as Light's head fell gently onto his shoulder. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was slow and deep.

"Thanks…" She breathed as she slipped of fully into dreamland.

Sans stared at her for a moment, before smiling softly and wrapping an arm around her. Careful not to wake her, he leaned back against the couch and closed his eyes.

"Anytime, kid." He whispered, before following her into sleep.
