Exhausting. That was the only word Daisy could think of to describe the past few months. Between saving Jemma, dealing with the Inhuman outbreak, and then tracking down Ward, the entire team looked and felt dead on their feet. Usually on a day off the team would talk or play video games and laugh, but today they all just sat in the den. The TV wasn't on, no music was playing, they were just enjoying each other's company. It was Christmas Eve, but there wasn't a tree set up or any twinkling lights strung around the room. They didn't have anything fancy to cook, but they were fine with it.

Coulson and May leaned against the brick wall, watching over their younger team members. Daisy was snuggled between Lincoln and Mack, Fitz-Simmons shared the recliner, while Bobbi and Hunter sat together on the armrest of the couch. It was rare to enjoy a peaceful evening, so they just let the minutes tick by. The clock struck 12 and Simmons was the first to notice.

"Happy Christmas everyone." She spoke quietly. The others returned the sentiment before they all made their way to their bunks.

The next morning a majority of the team took the opportunity to sleep in as long as possible. By 9 o'clock the entire team was in the kitchen. Mack and Coulson had gotten up to make pancakes, bacon, and eggs for everyone. The team took their seats after setting the table and Coulson began pouring people's drinks. Coulson filled Daisy's cup with coffee and turned the radio on before taking his seat at the head of the table. The room was soon filled with Christmas carols and the soft conversations between the team. The simplicity of serving the food and eating together gave them all a glimpse of normal family life.

"Fitz, can you hand me the syrup?" Daisy asked.

"Because you don't have enough already, huh Tremors?" Mack teased.

Fitz poured some of the syrup on his plate before passing it to Daisy. The girl had rolled her eyes at Mack's comment and stared him down with a grin on her face as she drenched her pancakes in the sweet liquid. Coulson enjoyed the light banter between the two. Mack had been skeptical of the girl's partnership at the beginning, but it warmed Coulson's heart that the two had formed a brother-sister bond.

He turned his attention to Fitz-Simmons whose hands were intertwined under the table. He knew the two were an item, (who couldn't see that one coming?) but they were terrible at hiding it. He didn't mind though, they deserved to be happy. Coulson's smile grew as he overheard the team laugh at something Hunter had said. May caught Coulson's eye.

"Phil? You good?"

"Never better." He replied honestly.

Later, Bobbi, Hunter, and Mack left to relax and do whatever it was they wanted. Lincoln followed as well to enjoy the day off with a long nap. This left the original team members alone together for the first time since their Bus days.

"It's been a while since we've hung out, just the five of us." Daisy pointed out and the others agreed that it had been too long.

"I've missed our little group." Simmons sighed. She loved her new team members, but the original group always held an extra special place in her heart.

"Reminds me of simpler times." Fitz sighed.

"Let's not get lost in the past, hmmm?" Coulson said. While there were times he missed the Bus days where the kids were still innocent and times were easier, he wouldn't trade their journey for the world. They hadn't noticed May sneak out and return with three wrapped presents. She nodded at Coulson to pass them out.

"Sir, what's this?" Simmons questioned, surprised they had thought of them especially with all the chaos happening throughout the base.

"Just a little something." Coulson shrugged.

"Go ahead, open them." May prompted.

The three "kids" shared a look before beginning to unwrap their gifts. Simmons carefully opened her package without ripping the paper, Fitz tore his open, and Daisy hesitated before slowly ripping the paper. Inside each box there was a picture frame with a picture of the original team, excluding Ward.

"Where did you get this?" Daisy asked. She raced over the image with her fingers and her eyes watered.

"We have our ways." May smirked.

In the image the five of them were in the kitchen with big smiles on their faces. Daisy was sitting on the counter, Fitz was leaning on the counter with Jemma right beside him, Coulson was standing in front of them with a big grin on his face clearly the one telling the joke, and May was standing next to him trying to hide the smile on her face. It was a perfect candid moment.

"Where did, uh where did you find these?" Fitz asked the older agents. He held up a box of Hobnobs and Jammie Dodgers, some British snacks he had been craving for months along with a coffee mug with a note that said, "Something to hold your tea during your late night lab sessions. Merry Christmas ~May and Coulson"

Jemma pulled out a package of fun, patterned socks (she didn't like boring socks), and a box of English breakfast tea. She too got a little note in her box saying, "Something fun and practical. And a little piece of home. Merry Christmas ~May and Coulson" Jemma's heart warmed; May and Coulson knew her so well.

Daisy was so fascinated by the picture that she didn't even realize that there was something else in her box. She got a purple water bottle filled with dove chocolates. Her smile widened, they knew her favorite color and her favorite chocolate. Then she pulled out a smaller box. In it was a simple, silver ring made up of daisies. She immediately knew why they thought to get her a ring. As Skye, she wore rings all the time, but in Afterlife she had taken some of them off when practicing her powers. She never got the chance to grab them before everything blew up (literally) and one night when she was sleep deprived she had come to the realization that she lost her favorite ring. Daisy had been complaining to May and Coulson the next morning about the ordeal, so they must have remembered. A tear ran Daisy's face as she read the little note, "To our Daisy, we know it's not the same as your old ring, but we hope you like it nonetheless. Also, enjoy the chocolates one at a time, not all at once ;) Merry Christmas ~May and Coulson"

"Oh my gosh… thank you!" She got up to hug her pseudo-parents. No one had ever put this much thought into a gift for her.

"Yes, thank you!" Fitz-Simmons said.

"Merry Christmas." Coulson and May shared a smile. The five of them continued to sit and talk and even played a game of Scrabble, just like the old days. Jemma won every round, of course, but it was fun. Eventually the other members of their team joined and they started a new game of Monopoly. The base was full of laughter and happiness for the first time in months. Sure, it wasn't a traditional Christmas, but it was perfect. The team was their family and they wouldn't have it any other way.
