Logan and I left the doctor's office for my thirty-week check up.
"Look at that nose, you can't tell me he doesn't have your nose." Logan said.
"Okay, maybe he does have my nose, but he definitely has your lips." I put the pictures into my purse as we approached the car. "So, should we stop for some lunch?"
"Actually, I have to meet with a couple of colleagues to make sure everything is taken care of while I'm on paternity leave."
The drive back home took twenty minutes. As we drove down our street, I noticed there are more cars parked on the street than usual. I commented someone must be having a party. Logan pulls into the driveway, and we head inside. The moment we opened the door, "surprise" was shouted. I jumped a little bit getting startled.
Logan wrapped his arm around me. "Welcome to your baby shower Ace."
I turned to Logan almost in tears. "Did you do this?"
"No, Honor."
Honor made her way over. "Happy Baby Shower." We hugged. "You didn't think you wouldn't have one, did you?"
"Sorta, yeah." I looked around the room at all here. I saw mom, grandma, Paris, Lucy, Olivia, some moms from the pregnancy class I'm in... Even Shira Huntzberger. "Thank you."
Logan snuck out of the house since baby showers are not his thing. I made my rounds greeting everyone, and thanking them all for coming. I was mostly glad to see mom. I think this has been the longest I've ever gone without seeing her.
During the party, we played some baby shower games. I think the guess the chocolate in the diaper one was the worse. I also didn't enjoy guessing how big my pregnant belly is either. I don't want to be reminded how big I am.
After playing the games, it was time for me to open the gifts. Grandma encouraged me to open hers first. I was expecting the present to be expensive and extravagant. I was pretty spot on. Grandma got me a really expensive car seat and stroller set.
"I know you probably already bought one, but I heard this model in particular has the best safety feature." She told me. "So go return it because this one is better."
"Thank you grandma."
Honor wanted me to open her gift next. She handed me a large gift bag with blue tissue paper inside of it. I tossed the tissue paper to the floor, and pulled out a designer leather diaper bag.
"Josh and I were in London last month, and I saw this and had to get it for you. Isn't it super cute?"
I smiled. "It's a really nice bag... maybe too nice for its purpose. "
"Don't be ridiculous. You will be one stylish mama."
I opened mom's gift next. It was more personal than grandma's and Honor's. She had sewn me a baby blanket, knitted together a pair of light blue booties, and gave me the stuff bear I had as a young child.
"Oh, and there is one more thing." She reached for a small rectangular box amongst the pile of gifts. "This one is from your dad."
I opened the gift, and saw little baby sunglasses. I laughed a little. This was definitely dad, and I'm pretty sure he has a pair just like this one.
I opened the rest of my gifts which consisted of mostly clothes, toys, and some diapers. We then cut into the cake, and did more mingling. I did some catching up with Paris, finding out how med school is going at Harvard.
"I can't believe I always dreamt of Harvard. Yale is by far the more superior school." Paris told me. "What do you think?"
"I think that I was accepted into Harvard, and chose to go to Yale." I told her.
"But was it because you determined Yale was by far more superior?"
"I think they're equally great schools. I thought Yale was a better fit for me. Maybe Harvard isn't a good fit for you."
"Or maybe I'm not the right fit for Harvard. Hmm..." Paris walked away.
Mom walked over and sat down with me. "Enjoying the party?"
"I'm glad you were able to come."
"Me too. I'm surprised Shira is here."
"I'm sure Honor guilted her into coming. Highly doubt she'd come at her own free will."
"How're are you feeling? Almost there."
"Exhausted. Uncomfortable. I'm ready for Levi to be born." I quickly realized I said the baby's name. "Crap."
"You're naming him Levi?" Mom asked.
"Yes. And I don't want to hear if you hate it because no matter what you say, that's his name and you'll have to learn to like it."
"I like that name. It's a good name. Fitting for you and Logan."
"Can you do us a favor and not tell anyone? We don't want everyone to know until he's born. We know not everyone will like his name, and we don't want to hear anything about it."
"Let me just get it out of my system, and I'll forget you even said his name. Levi. Levi. Levi. Levi. Okay, I'm good."
Happy New Year! I'm so sorry it took me this long to update, and I hope not to have you guys wait this long again for another update. Thanks for being patient, and I hope you're enjoying the story!
