Epilogue

Four years had passed and the blond felt more at ease. He knew it wasn't an easy journey but he at least at the right people at his side. Isabella was a playful four year old girl, she never let anything phase her. She was fearless and the blond was glad to see her like that. She had a full head of rusty red hair, just like Two-Bit. Her eyes were ice blue like his own. At some point, the blond and Soda moved into their own apartment. Dallas kept feeling like he was cramping up the Curtis' house especially as Isabella got older and was learning how to walk. She liked to get into everything, the blond remembered when he almost had a heart attack when she ran into the living room with a switchblade knife she found.

He sometimes still had to pinch himself when it came to his relationship with Sodapop. He wondered how he went from being abused by Two-Bit to being loved by Soda. He felt like he could wake up at any moment so he just enjoyed every second. It wasn't always easy but he didn't expect it to be. They sometimes had arguments but all they had to do was walk away from each other for a bit and think it all through. He got used to talking to Soda, his anxieties still creeped through occasionally. He didn't expect it all to just disappear, he got better at coping with them. Soda was great with Isabella, he especially loved to read to her at bedtime. She was about to start pre-school and the blond knew he was going to break down crying on her first day of school. Two-Bit was still in her life without the blond's intervention, he chose to be there. To Dallas, that meant a lot to him. He had to be honest, he expected Two-Bit to just disappear into the air after a while. He got to see her on weekends, on week days he had work.

He was at home alone at that time, he was waiting on Sodapop and Isabella to get back. Soda said he wanted to go take Isabella to get ice cream, the blond just wanted to be alone for a moment. He still got overwhelmed sometimes, but at least it wasn't every day like before. He was folding laundry in him and Soda's bedroom, their apartment was warm and friendly feeling to him. The white walls reflected the sunlight and made the room bright, he smiled to himself. He momentarily remembered the apartment he had with Two-Bit, he never really felt comfortable in there. He thought that even if Two-Bit never abused him he still wouldn't have ever gotten used to being there.

He heard the front door open and heard Isabella sprint into her little bedroom, he put down the shirt he had in his hands. He stepped to the bedroom door and ran into Soda, he smiled at him.

"Hey, Soda." Dallas said, his boyfriend smiled back at him.

"Hey, Dally." Soda said, the blond noticed the weird look in Soda's eyes.

"Are you okay?" Dallas asked, he saw Soda awkwardly patting his pockets.

"I'm fine, I just. .I wanna ask you something and Isabella has something I need." Soda said.

Dallas was quiet, he wondered what it could be.

"Did you hide something in her room?" He asked.

Soda shrugged, "kind of. I've been pondering this for a while now."

"Well, I was folding laundry. I just wanted to make sure you two were alright." Dallas said, he stepped back over to the bed and picked up the shirt he had laid down.

He got distracted by the laundry again, he was focused on it. He folded a red towel and put it on the proper pile, he folded another one but noticed Soda kneeling down next to him. He wondered what he was looking for so he turned over to him but froze, he looked at the box in Soda's hands. Dallas' face felt warm, he swore he was dreaming.

"Dally, I love you with all my heart and I know I want to be with you forever." Soda said, he opened the little black box he had.

Dallas had to cover his mouth, he couldn't speak. He felt tears sting in his eyes suddenly, he couldn't believe it.

"Dallas Tucker Winston, will you marry me?" Soda asked.

The blond's vision went blank for a moment, he couldn't hear anything either. He felt like he was having an outer body experience, he moved his hand from his mouth. His lip quivered, he fell down to his knees and hugged Soda close to his chest.

"Yes, I will." Dallas said, he finally broke down into tears into Soda's shoulder.

He felt Sodapop slip a simple, golden ring onto his ring finger. He wiped his tears away and smiled at the ring, he loved it.

"Sorry it's not real fancy. Those rings sure are expensive." Soda said, he rubbed the blond's back.

"I don't care about having an expensive ring, I just want to be with you." Dallas said and softly kissed Soda.

Isabella walked up to the couple with her ice cream cone in her hand and tugged on the blond's T-shirt sleeve.

"Is mama okay?" She questioned, the blond nodded and held her close.

"I'm okay, I'm just happy." Dallas said.

"So, you and Soda are going to get married?" She asked, she raised her little red eyebrow.

"Yes, eventually." Dallas joked, he ruffled her hair.

She only smiled at him and hugged him, he still felt like it all was a dream. He closed his eyes and held his fiancee and daughter close, he wondered what he did to be so lucky to have them.

. . .

Dallas nervously licked his lips, he didn't know how to tell Soda what he thought. He knew it had been years since the abuse happened but he still couldn't help feel like Soda could suddenly hurt him. He shook his head, he thought Soda would understand. He hadn't gotten his cycle that month, he had no cramping whatsoever. He at first welcomed the change but then quickly realized what that meant. He wanted to chew on his finger nails but he kept his arms on his lap. He hadn't noticed any immediate changes to his body but he didn't expect to. He rubbed his lower abdomen, he was waiting for Sodapop to get home for his lunch break. He guessed he needed a pregnancy test, he looked over at Isabella.

She was playing on the floor on the living room, he wasn't sure if he was ready for another kid. She was four years old, she could read and write even if she got stuck sometimes. He thought she was relatively able to tell him and Soda what she wanted or needed. He sometimes couldn't understand her when she talked too fast, thankfully Sodapop seemed to be fluent in small child talk. She ran up to him with a teddy bear in her hand, he took it and looked at her.

"You look sad." She said, he looked at the bear then sighed.

"I'm okay, don't worry about me, alright?" He said and smiled at her.

She gave him a lingering stare with her big, blue eyes. He thought she was a rather receptive child. He couldn't really show his stress around her because he didn't want to worry her. She didn't need to worry about his problems. He held the teddy bear in his hand, he held his against his stomach. He glanced up at the television, he wasn't sure what he had been watching. Isabella usually took over the TV and was watching whatever she wanted but she was distracted by her toys at that moment. He wasn't sure if he wanted to change the channel, he didn't think he would be able to focus on anything. He was quiet until he heard the front door open, he looked up. Isabella ran up to Soda and wrapped herself around his leg, she was saying something but he wasn't focused on that. He looked at his fiance, he slowly stood and stepped over to him.

"Hey, Dally." He said and softly kissed him.

"Hey. ." He said, he couldn't look at him.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"We can talk in a minute, I'm guessing you're probably hungry." He said.

Soda shrugged, "I can wait if it's important."

"Can we go to the bedroom then?" He asked.

"Sure," he looked down at Isabella, "you gotta let go. I'll be right back."

She frowned and pulled herself off his leg, he ruffled her hair.

"I'll be back, I promise." He cooed and walked down the hall with the blond.

Dallas took a seat on their soft bed, he felt like his stomach was doing various back flips inside of him. He really didn't know how Soda would react, they had had conversations about having kids but they didn't really ever agree to try. He could understand why though, they weren't exactly playing it safe when they had sex. Soda took a seat next to him, he still couldn't look at him.

"What is it you need to tell me?" He asked.

"Umm. .Soda, I need you to buy me a pregnancy test." Dallas blurted, he thought it would be better to just spit it out and get it over with.

Soda was quiet, the blond glanced over at him.

"A pregnancy test?" He asked.

"I. .I didn't get my cycle this month." He explained, Soda tilted his head to the side.

"You think you're. .?" Soda trailed off, he seemed like he didn't understand.

"I think I'm pregnant, Soda." Dallas said, he sighed.

"Dally, you don't need to be worried about telling me that. Isn't this what we kind of wanted?" He asked.

"You know how I get, but I don't know for certain yet." Dallas said, the blond held his hand.

"It'll be okay, if you're not then you're not. If you are then we'll figure it out." Everything will be fine, Dally. I promise." Soda cooed, he kissed the blond on the cheek .

"Is that all you needed to tell me? I'm really hungry." Soda said, the blond rolled his eyes.

"I told you we could have waited until after you ate." Dallas said.

"Well, I didn't want your stress to eat you alive so." He said.

Dallas playfully pushed Soda, "whatever. Go get ya something to eat."

Soda stood and helped the blond stand next to him, he hugged him for a moment.

"I'll bring you a test after I get off work, okay?" He said.

"You know I can't take it until I wake up tomorrow, right?" He said.

Soda nodded, "I know. I can wake you up when I get ready for work if you'd like me too."

Dallas groaned, "I guess."

"I love you." Soda said, he stepped out of the room.

The blond couldn't help but smile, he tried not to worry about it too much.

. . .

Dallas was asleep, Soda was looking over at him. He really didn't want to wake him up, he looked too comfortable. He must have been tired if he didn't wake up from his alarm, he usually at least stirred a little bit. He slightly shook the blond, Dallas groaned and lifted his head from his pillow.

"C'mon, you gotta go do your test." Soda cooed, the blond blinked.

"Soda, I'm worried. ." Dallas mumbled, his voice was scratchy sounding.

"Worried 'bout what?" Soda asked.

"I just. .I don't want you to be mad." Dallas said, he sat up.

"I won't be mad either way. I promise." Soda cooed, the blond sighed.

"Okay, where did you put that test at?" Dallas asked as he stood from the bed.

"It should be on the bathroom counter." He said, he stood from the bed and walked over to the blond.

"You promise you won't be mad? I don't want you to be disappointed either." Dallas said, Soda kissed him on the forehead.

"I will be okay either way, I promise." Soda said and softly smiled at him.

Dallas released a long sigh, "okay, I'll be right back."

The blond was waiting for the test results, he sat it on the counter and sat on the edge of the bathtub. He let his head rest in his hands, he had a flashback back to when he found out he was going to have Isabella. He didn't think he would as shocked as he was then, but he was in a better situation. He had a loving fiance, they had a place and everything was going fine. He looked at his hands for a moment, he thought he had come a long way. He recalled how he thought then he would always be with Two-Bit but that wasn't true. He didn't think he would be with Soda, he didn't think he would be engaged to him.

He sighed, he was stalling. He stood and moved to the bathroom counter. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath, it would be okay no matter what the test said. He picked it up into his hand and stared at it.

Soda was pulling on his work pants when he heard the blond run up behind him bawling his eyes out, he held the blond.

"What is it? What did it say?" He asked.

"I'm. .I'm pregnant." Dallas panted, he tried to smile but he couldn't stop crying.

"Really? Oh, my god." Soda said and held the blond closer to him.

The couple just held each other for a moment, the blond was sniffling. He had to pull away, he didn't want to get his boogers on Soda. He went to the dirty laundry basket and blew his nose on a towel. Soda pulled him into his arms again, Dallas rested his head into his shoulder.

"Are you happy?" Dallas asked, Soda softly kissed him. He had a warm smile on his face when he pulled away.

"I'm more than happy, Dally. I'm glad to be making our family bigger." Soda said, the blond couldn't help but smile too.

"I'm happy, too. I just. .this is all so different from when I found out about Isabella." Dallas said.

"Well, we're here now. You're safe here, Isabella and the baby will be safe here too." Soda said.

"I know, it's just weird how all these have changed." Dallas said.

"I understand, but life is strange like that." Soda said.

"Anyway," Soda ran his fingers through the blond's hair, "I need to get ready for work and I'm sure you're still tired."

Dallas did notice his eyes felt tired, he had felt more exhausted lately but his news he just got at least solved why. He slowly walked back to his side of the bed and laid down, Soda followed and gave him a kiss.

"I love you, Dally." Soda cooed, the blond smiled.

"I love you, too, Sodapop." He murmured before falling back asleep.

. . .

Dallas still wasn't sure how to feel about the news he and Soda had gotten about a month ago. He knew he had a while to accept it but it still felt unreal. He slightly rubbed his belly, he hadn't started showing too much. No one would even notice if they were just walking by him. He and Soda were going to have twins, they didn't know what sex they were yet. He often thought about how exhausting it will be to have two new-borns at one time but at least Soda would be there to help. He and Soda had been planning on getting married soon. Dallas thought like it would be a shotgun wedding, he thought it was a funny concept. He didn't want it to be complicated, he just wanted it to be a simple, small event with the gang and his mom, maybe even Two-Bit's mom and sister.

He didn't even know what he would wear, he had never owned a suit in his life. He knew Soda had one but he wasn't even sure if they could even afford renting one, let his shoulders droop. He never really got the chance to dress well, he tried to dress well sometimes for Soda but he didn't really have to do that. Soda gave him kisses and hugs regardless if he was in his pajamas or not. He softly smiled, he at least knew even if he couldn't get a suit he would still be marrying Sodapop.

He was waiting for Soda to get home from work, he was a bit late. He had texted him and told him not to worry but worrying was his profession. He looked over at the door, he started at it for a moment before he shook his head. He got paranoid too easily. Isabella was sitting on the living room floor, she was watching a movie. He was glad she was distracted, she didn't need to see him worry.

He heard the front door open and he heard Isabella squeal in excitement. He smiled and walked out of the room but paused when he saw Soda. He was holding a hanger in his hand with something hanging on it, he couldn't see it because it was covered by a black silk like cloth. Dallas stepped closer but went slowly, he didn't know what it was. Soda softly kissed him on the cheek but he couldn't stop staring. He shook his head and looked at his fiance.

"What's that?" He asked and motioned his hand toward it.

"Well, since we'll be getting married in about a month I rented you a tuxedo." He said, the blond was silent.

"A tuxedo..?" He asked, he didn't know what to say.

"Yeah, it's just a rental and we'll need to give it back but it's yours for now." Soda said.

"Was it expensive?" He asked, Soda sighed.

"Dally, don't worry about it. You deserve to feel nice when we get married." Soda said.

"Okay, sorry. You know how I get." Dallas said, Soda gave him a quick kiss.

"It's alright, now all we have to worry about is when exactly we'll have it. " Soda joked, the blond rolled his eyes.

"We'll figure it out. I just need a good time for everyone so no one has to rush to be there, you know?" Dallas said.

"I know but like you said we'll figure it out." Soda said.

Dallas smiled to himself, now he didn't have to worry about what he would wear. He sometimes thought Sodapop could read his mind but he was really just good at seeing what bothered him and he listened to him. He couldn't wait to be married to him.

. . .

Dallas had his white suit on, it was officially the day he would marry Sodapop. He felt like his heart was going to explode in his chest. He knew he wanted to be with Soda but he couldn't believe he was really going to get married. He wanted to chew on his nails but he knew he shouldn't. He kept his arms by his sides, he was staring out of one of the windows of the back of the Curtis' house. He stared out to the backyard, it was all decorated. He thought it was strange to have a whole event revolving around him, well partly him. He looked down at his suit again, he was worried about staining it. He had to give it back within a week, he and Soda weren't really going to go on a honeymoon or anything. He didn't really want to go anywhere and Soda didn't either, he just enjoyed being with Soda.

He felt someone put his hand on his shoulder, he slowly turned around. Two-Bit smiled at him, he returned the smile.

"Are you excited?" He asked, Dallas nodded and turned his attention back outside.

"Am I really going to do this?" He asked, Two-Bit rubbed his shoulder.

"This is what you want, isn't it?" He questioned.

"I love Soda. .I guess I'm just being dramatic." He said, Two-Bit laughed.

"It's normal to be nervous, Dally. Don't worry." He said, Dallas sighed.

"Are you sure you want to walk me down the aisle? You really don't have to, I can go on my own." Dallas said.

"I don't mind it, it means a lot to me that you even want me to be here for this." Two-Bit said.

"Well. .I thought about not inviting you but not because I'm mad or anything." He said.

"Why'd you think about not inviting me?" Two-Bit asked curiously.

"I didn't know if you had moved on, I really didn't want to seem like an insensitive asshole about it." He said.

"I'm okay, Dally. I do still love you just not romantically anymore. I've tried seeing people it just hasn't worked out with anyone yet." Two-Bit said.

"A lot of people hear that I have Isabella then they act all weird afterward. All well, there's someone out there that will accept the fact I'm a father. I can't just stop being one." He said, Dallas smiled.

"Just take your time." Dallas said, Two-Bit rubbed his shoulder again.

"It will all be okay, I promise." The redhead said, Dallas ran his fingers through his hair.

"Thank you, Two-Bit." He said and turned so he could go into the restroom, he needed to make sure he was ready.

. . .

Dallas felt like his palms were sweating a river, his heart was beating out of his chest. He squeezed his hands into fists by his sides, he knew it would be worth it. He wasn't even sure if he would be able to walk, his legs felt like they were made of jello. He looked over and saw Two-Bit, he guessed it was about time for it all to start.

"Are you ready?" Two-Bit asked, he adjusted his tie a bit.

"As ready as I'll ever be." He said, he was shaking so badly his voice shook too.

"You'll be alright, Dally. If you listen to the officiant then you should be fine." He said.

"She better not go on and on about God because that's not what I wanted." He joked and the redhead laughed.

"Well, if that happens at least make the ass chewing funny." He said, the blond rolled his eyes.

"I hope I won't have to pull out my inner bitch." He said.

"Anyway," the redhead extended his arm, "are you ready?"

Dallas released a slow breath and wrapped his arm around the redhead's, it was strange being close to him like that. He was holding his breath the whole time and he didn't even notice until they reached the end of the small walk way in between the few chairs there were. He wanted to keep his head down but he decided to hold his head up high, at least so Soda could see him. He glanced over at his mom and smiled slightly, he felt so awkward. She smiled back at him and waved, she had Isabella on her lap. Isabella was holding her little ring pillow, she was supposed to run up on her cue. Dallas wondered if she would even remember it, he thought it would be fine if she didn't. He finally reached the end and met Sodapop, he glanced up at him. His fiance pulled his head up and their eyes met, the blond's face felt warm.

"You look gorgeous, Dally." He whispered, the blond's mouth went dry.

"T-Thank you. ." He trailed off and let Soda hold his hands.

He was so hyper focused on Soda that he didn't even pay attention to the officiant, her voice had a rather distinct tone. He had only seen her once or twice before, she had dark down hair with bangs, she had freckles all over. She seemed like the flower child type and she was about the only non-christian option they could find. He squeezed on Soda's hand, he knew they agreed they weren't going to do any vows at least not in front of everybody. He wanted them to be special and secretive, it was only for them to know. He came back to reality just in time, he felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead.

"Do you, Sodapop Curtis, take Dallas Winston to be your husband?" She asked, Dallas felt like he could've passed out right then.

"I do." Soda said and smiled at him, his heart fluttered for a moment.

"Do you, Dallas Winston, take Sodapop Curtis as your husband?" She asked.

Dallas was quiet, his mouth was open but it was like his vocal chords broke for a second. He coughed and straightened himself up.

"I do." He said and returned the smile to Sodapop.

"Then I officially announce you to be married! Congratulations." She said, the blond saw she had a smile on her freckle covered face.

Soda pulled him close and kissed him deeply, they stayed like that for what felt like forever. He never wanted it to end, he was officially married to Sodapop. He was officially Dallas Curtis. He thought it sounded weird but he thought he would get used to it. He kissed Sodapop again when he pulled away and held him close. Isabella suddenly ran up to the couple and tugged on the blond's suit sleeve, he looked over at her. She thrusted the pillow at him and he smiled, he ruffled her hair. Sodapop took the blond's gold marriage band onto his finger, the blond did the same for Soda.

"I love you, Dally." Soda cooed, the blond sighed.

"I love you, too, Sodapop." He said and buried his face into the nape of his husband's neck.
