Well hello again fellow humans. I have just realized that by the time you're seeing this Episode 6 of Wandavision is out. HOW WAS IT? DID ANYONE DIE? PLEASE SAY THAT NO ONE DIED...
Reviews:
Creator of Magic: Thank you! Also, it's really fun writing about characters that don't get much time in the books because I can basically do whatever I want with them...hehehe
Percabeth x Solangelo: Thanks, also I have something planned for that, it won't be until like, next chapter though.
BabaLooWho: Same...sometimes I like Luke and sometimes I'm glad he died...
Chapter 4: Gracie
Will turned off his light and closed his eyes.
Why am I surprised? He wondered. Why am I surprised that Percy Jackson blew up a school?
He could have laughed at the cliche-ness of it. He had, actually, when he'd first heard about it earlier. Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, rescuer of Zeus's lightning bolt, funny and nice to everyone, strong and great at fighting, best friend of one of the smartest people in camp, and blown up a school.
Well, not the whole school, but still.
"Psst, Will!" Kayla said from the bunk next to his. "You up?'
"Lights out was 5 minutes ago, there's no way anyone can fall asleep that quickly," Will said. "Well, except for Ravin."
Kayla giggled and looked over to where Ravin was already snoring.
"What do you think about the cyclops?" Kayla whispered.
"Tyson?"
Kayla nodded.
"I dunno," Will said. "He seems nice, for a cyclops. And he seems like he actually wants to help everyone, especially Percy."
"So?" Kayla asked.
"So what?"
"So do you trust him?" Kayla repeated like it was obvious.
"Yeah, I guess," Will said. "Like, I'm not going to be BFFs with him but like I said before, he seems like he wants to help."
"Yeah..." Kayla said, but her voice already sounded far off.
Before Will knew it, he was asleep.
He slept fitfully for maybe a few hours before he was woken up by Kayla.
"WILL!" She whisper-yelled.
"GAH!" He yelled, sitting up so fast he hit his head on the bunk above his. "What is it? What's wrong? Is everyone okay?"
He looked up to find tears streaming down Kayla's face.
"Gracie's gone," She said before burying her face in his pillow.
She could have meant that Gracie was dead but Will knew what she really meant. Gracie had abandoned them. She had joined Kronos's forces. Gracie had always been quiet but smart. She hadn't seemed like the type of person who would do something like that. Then again, neither had Luke.
After sitting in a stunned silence for a few minutes, Will put his hand on Kayla's back and blinked back his tears. He could cry later, right now, Kayla needed him.
"Come on," He said. "Let's wake up the rest of the cabin and tell them."
Kayla looked up. Her eyes were red from crying and her nose was running. "Can't we wait until the morning? I don't want to disturb them. I just told you because I thought that someone else should know."
"They're Gracie's siblings too," Will said. "We need to tell them."
"Okay..." Kayla said.
Will walked over to Lee and shook him awake.
"Will why are you waking me up it's like 1:00 am..." He trailed off as he noticed the tears that had started streaming down Will's face.
"Oh no...what happened this time?" Lee asked.
"Gracie..." Will managed. "She went over to their side."
Lee's face crumpled.
"I...we have to go wake up the others...tell Chiron...and Gracie's parents...oh gods, her parents..." Will wasn't sure who Lee was talking too and he seemed like he could handle things from there so Will walked back over to Kayla.
"Hey..." Will said, putting an arm around her shoulders. "It's okay, we'll get her back."
"I know," Kayla sniffed. "It's just that after Luke and Gracie, who won't go?"
"We won't," Will promised. "We won't leave you. By the way, how did you find out that Gracie left?"
Kayla pointed to a note on Gracie's desk.
"Oh," Will said. He grabbed a tissue and handed it to her. "Here."
"Thanks," She murmured.
"Do you want to go back to sleep?" Will asked.
She shook her head. "I don't think I'll be able to. And then we'll just have to go back to regular things tomorrow and pretend this never happened."
"It isn't good to ignore the bad things but it also isn't good to let them control you or to think about them non-stop all the time," Will said.
Kayla smiled. "Can I sleep in your bed tonight?"
"Sure," He said. "I'll sleep on one of the empty ones."
She nodded. "Alright..."
"Goodnight Kayla," He said.
"'Night Will," She said.
Will laid down in one of the empty beds in the corner of the cabin and closed his eyes, waiting to fall asleep.
Maybe Gracie leaving had shaken him even more than he had thought because he didn't fall asleep for a while. When he did, he kept waking up knowing that he had just had a bad dream but not being able to remember anything about it.
Needless to say, when Lee told everyone that they could sleep in and that they shouldn't have to wake up too early after a night like that Will had already come to the conclusion that he wasn't going to be able to fall back asleep.
Will eventually decided to just go talk to Cecil, he had gone through a similar thing when Luke had left-no, betrayed them.
Cecil had comforted Will and made him feel a lot better. It was also like, the 2nd time ever where Cecil wasn't making a joke every few seconds, which just made Will appreciate his friend even more.
"Hey, I never did ask you, what did you do with Luke's friendship bracelet?" Will had been wondering this for a while but hadn't wanted to ask Cecil until he felt like he was ready to talk about it.
"Oh," Cecil said, looking down.
"If you don't want to talk about it I won't force you," Will said.
"No, it's fine," Cecil said. "I still wear it but more to remind me of how much of an idiot Luke is."
Will nodded.
"It reminds me why we're going to keep fighting him, and why we're going to stop at nothing to save Thalia's tree," Cecil continued.
In the beginning, someone (probably Chiron) had tried to only tell the counselors that Thalia's tree was poisoned but somehow everyone else had found out and by now it was just common knowledge. No one knew how they were going to cure it but it didn't stop them from trying, Will had even tried using his healing powers on the tree but it didn't work the same way it did on demigods.
"Well it's a good thing Percy's here," Will said. "I'm sure he'll find a way to fix everything in no time."
Cecil laughed. "Yeah, I have no doubt he will. And maybe while he's at it we can ask him to find a way to claim Lou already."
"I know," Will said. Lou had been at camp for years, way longer than Will or Cecil had and still hadn't been claimed. "Maybe she'll turn out to be some awesome child of Zeus or something and she'll leave us lowly demigods to fight for ourselves."
Cecil laughed again. "Nah, she would never do that. Probably."
Will gulped. "If she does, you can't say I didn't warn you..."
"Well, fingers crossed that she turns out to be a daughter of Aphrodite or something like that," Cecil said.
"You really think she would fit in with the Aphrodite kids?" Will asked.
"Nope," Cecil said. "But it would certainly be fun to watch."
"You and I have different definitions of the word 'fun'," Will said.
"Hmm...yeah," Cecil said. "Wanna go throw bread at the mechanical ducks Beckendorf designed?"
Will laughed. "Sure, why not."
Cecil always found ways to make him feel better.
"10 drachmas if you can hit their beaks,"
Yes, I know that this chapter is kind of boring (and shorter than normal). I was bored just writing it. But it's necessary for something that I'm planning for a later chapter...you'll just have to wait and see...muahahahaha
