Parenting was hard, harder than any battle, any fight and any conflict either of them had had to face. Sometimes Nat even felt like she preferred the stress of being a 'hero' than the stress that came with being a mother, but then she looked at her son and knew just how perfect he was, and how she could never give this up...ever. Even Steve who always seemed so sure about a lot of things, couldn't even comprehend how he had been blessed with something so perfect. Although the situation wasn't ideal, god had blessed him with the most amazing son and a partner that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, and she had been right under his nose all this time.
A one year old James was much like his parents, he had his mothers natural red hair and his father's blue eyes. He had the cutest front teeth and had a smile that lit up their small cabin in Russia. He was so smart for his age and into absolutely everything, they just knew he would be athletic and brave like his mother and strong and selfless like his father, he was just the perfect child.
Nat sat on the floor in front of the fire whilst her child played with the toys Steve had made, "Mamamamama…" He babbled as he walked over to her carrying the toys in his hands, "Mama's got you…" She smiled wrapping her arms around her tiny son and kissing on his cheek causing him to laugh. James was such a mama's boy, but Steve loved the bond that they shared so he couldn't get too jealous. He had just finished a quick untraced call with Sam, having recently got back in touch with some of the avengers, just to make sure everything was still okay. Nat had even reached out to Clint who was on house arrest and spending it with his family, he was so excited to find out that she had made him Uncle Clint. Steve smiled watching before seeing his son yawn in his mothers arms, "I think someone is ready for his afternoon nap." He chuckled, Nat smiled looking at her boyfriend, "I think you're right." She chuckled, "Come on buddy, let's go for our nap." She said standing up and picking her one year old up with her and through to their bedroom. Laying in the bed with him, she let him get comfy under the covers before laying next to him and comforting their child until he was asleep. Steve closed the curtains and sat at the end of the bed watching them bond, "And you should know James...that mommy and daddy will always protect you, no matter what." She whispered, finishing off her sentence as he fell asleep. Kissing on his forehead she quietly got up and left the room with Steve before they slumped on the sofa, resting in his arms she ran a hand through her blonde hair, and rested her head against his shoulders. "It's a good thing he's cute because he's frickin hard work." she chuckled. Steve laughed and stroked her arms softly and ran his nose through her hair, "He's worth every single sleepless night and grey hair." He chuckled, before she arched her eyebrow. "Grey hair?! Speak for yourself old man, I'm only 34 years old." She teased nudging him. He rolled his eyes, "I'm technically only 33." He smirked, nudging her back, before she grinned and moved to straddle him. "Keep telling yourself that, you officially hit a century this year." she smirked knowing he was 100 years old technically. "As long as I get to spend my next century with you.." He teased against her lips, "You cheesy son of a bitch…" She chuckled before leaning down and kissing him deeply, she was deeply, madly in love with him and she was so grateful for the life she had been given.
I know in the movies Nat can't have children, but in this story she can. Please leave reviews and let me know what you think :)
