8 Months Pregnant
Amelia sat outside in a bikini on one of the beach lounges, reading her novel as she let the sun warm her skin. She had text Owen to let him know to come straight out the back as that's where she would be. Owen had spent another weekend here a fortnight ago, their relationship was so easy to the both of them.
As she turned another page she was startled to hear a familiar yet unexpected voice.
"Amy?" called Addison.
Amelia groaned. "I still don't want to talk Addie!"
Addison walked towards her, sitting beside her legs on the lounge chair "Please Amelia, let me support you. Let me be here for you."
"I don't need it Addison."
"Sweetheart, come on. You're my sister."
"You're not actually my sister, you know."
"I love you Amy… you can't push me away, nothing you do could push me away."
Amelia sat in silence overlooking the water as Addison stared at her. Her sister looked absolutely radiant. "Amelia, please look at me. You look so beautiful."
The two heard the gate open again and Owen's voice sounded "Mia! Are you still out here?"
Addison looked questioningly at Amelia who threw her head back and sighed.
"Out here O." She called back
Coming around the corner Owen spotted the two women "Oh, Hi! I didn't realise we had company tonight." Extending his hand forward, which Addison took with a smile "I'm Owen."
"Owen, Hi. I'm Addison."
"Oh of course, Derek's ex-wife? I work at Seattle Grace."
"Ahh, so you know all about me then." Addison laughed.
"To be honest, they all speak very highly of you." Owen confessed.
Addison grimaced. "Somehow, I don't believe that."
"Well, Addie… Thanks for calling around…" Amelia started.
Addison looked at her, eyebrows raised. "You know what Aims? My plans have changed. I don't actually have to rush off anymore… how about dinner, shall I order something?" she smirked at her younger sister.
Amelia glared at Addison and sarcastically exclaimed "Brilliant!"
Owen placed a hand on Amelia's shoulder, sensing some tension "I'm going to go and have a shower… You okay Mia?"
Gently stroking his hand, Amelia looked up to him and nodded. He leaned down to give her a quick kiss on the forehead before making his way inside.
"New boyfriend 'Mia'?"
"Don't, Addie."
"He really loves you… it is painfully obvious."
"I know he does."
"And you love him? I don't remember the last time your eyes lit up like that."
"why do you care Addison? What are you still doing here?"
"Aims, I'm here because I care about you. You've been my sister for over half my life. More than half of yours. What you're going through? It's fucking horrendous Amelia and I just want to wrap you up in a ball of love and support."
Amelia nodded slowly and eventually "please leave Addison" left her mouth quietly.
Addison gently ran a hand over Amelia's head before standing up "Amelia, I love you so much, okay? I am here for you no matter what and I will always be here for you."
As Addison walked away Amelia began to cry quietly, wrapping the towel around her body, her book long forgotten on the floor.
Owen stepped out of the shower and dressed, making his way out into the kitchen expecting to see Amelia pottering around. To his surprise she was sitting outside as the rain pelted down. Worried that something was physically wrong with her, he ran out shouting "Amelia!?" he knelt beside her, seeing her eyes squeezed shut as she sobbed to herself. "Mia, what's wrong!?"
"I don't…. even… know why… I'm crying" Amelia sputtered out, shivering as she sobbed.
"Come on, let's get you inside." Owen scooped his hands under her body and lifted her from the lounge chair, carrying her inside. He took her into the bathroom, finally placing her on her feet. "Bath? Shower?"
Amelia didn't respond, but instead walked towards the shower, turning the faucet on as she let the warm water hit her body. She turned back to Owen and stretched her hand out to him, a pleading look on her face.
Not needing to be asked twice, Owen lifted his shirt over his head and stepped out of his jeans. Keeping his briefs on, Owen walked into the shower.
"I don't understand why I'm so emotional" Amelia confessed, looking up at him.
"Mia, you're pregnant." Owen cupped the sides of her face "your hormones are raging. It's okay to be emotional. In fact, its natural."
Craving a more physical connection, Amelia ran her hands up Owen's chest and around his neck, pulling his head down to hers as her lips met his in a desperate kiss.
Responding accordingly Owen ran his fingers through her hair, tugging lightly as he kissed her with just as much desire.
Amelia reached behind her back, untying her bikini top and letting it drop to the floor. Looking up expectedly at Owen, a small smirk on her face. Owen groaned and closed his eyes, looking up to the ceiling. "Mia…" he breathed out.
Amelia trailed a line with her fingers from Owen's shoulders, down his torso and to the band of his briefs before feeling Owen's strong hands on top of hers.
"Amelia, wait…"
"Please Owen, I need you." She whispered.
"I don't want to take advantage of you…"
"Owen…" Amelia looked up into his eyes. Hers dark with desire.
Owen place his hands on her hips as he turned her around, her back against his torso allowing her to feel just how aroused he was.
Reaching his hand between her legs, gently rubbing against the material of her bikini bottoms before hooking his fingers on the waist band and sliding them down.
Placing gentle kisses up along her spine as he stood up again, his lips finding her neck as he held her back firmly against him.
Amelia moaned in satisfaction as Owen continued to kiss and suck at her neck, his hands rubbing from her hips down her thighs. She moved her hips softly from side to side as she pressed herself back against him, one hand stretched up and behind his head, the other atop one of his hands.
Kissing just behind her ear, Owen whispered "You are so gorgeous." Feeling Amelia's body instantly freeze in his arms. "Amelia?" he asked, concern evident in his voice. When she didn't respond he moved her around to face him. "Amelia…?" Her eyes looked up into his, a vacant expression on her face. As Owen reached forward to place his hands on her arms, Amelia flinched away.
"Don't touch me."
Pulling his hands back quickly, held up in front of his body "Mia…" Owen whispered "Did I do something wrong?"
"You need to… I'm going to go…" Amelia stuttered out, retreating from the shower and wrapping a towel around her body.
Left in the shower, confused and frustrated with himself, Owen thumped the wall with his palm and sighed loudly. He so desperately wanted to have a more physically intimate connection with Amelia, but he had also had reservations about taking advantage of her. There was no denying that she was vulnerable. She had been through so much in such a short period of time that he was, and had always been so cautious.
Turning the tap off and redressing in his clothes Owen exited the bathroom, making his way to what had become their bedroom to check on Amelia. When he didn't see her there, he walked out into the living room and kitchen where he was met with silence. Owen called out to her with no response, his heart dropping as he ran his fingers through his hair.
Checking out the front door, he saw that her car was still there, so he knew she wouldn't have been able to go too far. Not happy that she was out walking alone at night time, while 8 months pregnant but aware there wasn't a huge amount he could do to stop it from happening, Owen started to prepare a salad for their dinner.
As he finished presenting the salad in a large dish, Owen checked the time. It had been over an hour and there was still no sign of Amelia. Reaching for his phone, Owen called her cell, he sighed when it went straight to voicemail. He composed a text.
- Amelia, please come back. We don't have to talk, I just need to know you're okay. O
When he didn't hear back from her after ten minutes, Owen walked outside and down to the beach. Looking along both directions for any sign of her. With a fifty percent chance of going the right direction, Owen took off at a jog to the right. His eyes scanning around frantically. After an hour of searching, Owen made his way back to the house panic-stricken. When he got back into the kitchen, Owen tried Amelia's cell again. As it started to ring in his ear, the sound of an incoming call came from their bedroom. Quickly hanging up and making his way there, Owen saw Amelia curled up in a ball on top of the mattress.
Walking over to the bed, Owen saw that Amelia had fallen asleep. He gently stroked her hair as he felt his heart rate start to return to a normal rhythm.
Pulling a rug up and over her body, Owen turned to leave her in peace.
"I thought you left…" came a quiet voice.
Quickly turning around and kneeling beside her bed "I was looking for you" Owen breathed.
"I don't want to talk."
"That okay Mia."
"I'm not quite ready yet."
"It's okay…"
"can you just… hold me?" Amelia whimpered.
"Oh Mia, of course I can."
Climbing into bed behind Amelia, Owen wrapped his arms around her. His body moulding to hers perfectly.
"Owen?"
"Yes sweetheart?"
"I… Uh… I love you… and it scares me. I'm scared It could destroy me."
Owen lay there, his heart in his throat as he choked out "I love you too… And I'm scared too, of the magnitude of my love for you. I love you so much that it physically hurts Mia. I'm not telling you this to scare you…"
"I know… I'm scared because the only two men I've ever loved have both died" Amelia stammered, tears streaming down her cheeks "and I'm about to lose one more. I can't deal with more heartbreak."
"I'm not going anyway Mia…"
"You say that, but you don't know."
"you're right. I don't know. But I will never decide to leave you. Do you hear me? I will do everything in my power to be with you forever."
"Ryan…. Uhh… the night Ryan died the last thing I remember him saying was 'you are so gorgeous.' That's why I freaked out in the shower."
Owen closed his eyes as he sighed in resignation "I'm so sorry Amelia, I didn't know."
"How could you know?" she laughed bitterly "you know, I've been going over this a lot lately. I thought Ryan was the love of my life. I had never felt such intense feelings for anyone in my life, until I met you. I can't help thinking about how if I wasn't so fucked up on drugs would I have felt that way? Was any of it real? And then I hate myself for thinking that of my sons father. I mean what kind of person thinks that of a man who she created life with. A man who died alongside her in bed. What kind of messed up fuckery is that?"
"You know, I can't answer these questions for you Amelia… I just think, if it felt like love then that's what it was. You're a completely different person now to what you were back then. And the version of you from your time with Ryan was probably very in love with him. And that's okay. The current version of you is allowed to feel different emotions and feelings and the future version of you is too."
Amelia rolled over in his arms so that the pair were facing each other, she gently placed a hand on his cheek and whispered "You are one incredible and insightful man Owen Hunt. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but I am so glad you're in my life."
"Mia… I'm the lucky one here." He kissed her forehead "Now, lets get some sleep hey?"
