Natasha woke up next to the love of her life, well, more that she woke up against his chest. But, she didn't wake up to the sound of her son waking her up or her boyfriend waking up, no...she woke up to the sound of her beeper. Getting up and heading outside to answer it was from Sam, "Sam...is everything okay?" She asked curiously, hoping that everything was okay but then again...nothing stayed peaceful forever. "Hey Nat…" He said, the tone in his voice signified something was wrong. She swallowed hard and waited for his next words, "There's been attacks in London, all over the UK really...apparently they're looking for the mind stone." He told her, she swallowed hard and nodded, "What attacks? Who? What happens if they get the mind stone?" She asked curiously, "They're not from this world, and I don't know what will happen if they get the mind stone...but what I do know, is that our friends are in danger and I have a really bad feeling about this...we need you Nat, both you and Steve." He said softly, she sighed, "We have James Sam...I can't risk his life." she told him regrettingly, "I know, I wouldn't ask you if it wasn't serious." He promised her, taking a moment she sighed softly and nodded, "Alright, do you know where Vision and Wanda are?" she asked knowing she really had to consider this. "I can trace them back to Scotland but I'm not 100% sure, they've disconnected themselves from everything." He informed her, "Well...it's better than nothing." She said simply, "I'll talk to Steve, keep me updated and I'll call you soon." She said before hanging up and going to wake up Steve.
"Steve...babe…" She whispered, shaking him as he woke up, "We need to talk." she told him softly. After filling him in at breakfast, they looked to their son who was playing with his toys, swallowing hard. "If we do this...we have to make sure he's safe." Steve said, Nat nodded and swallowed hard. "Clint can take him...he's the most protected out of us all." She said looking back to Steve, "So, we do this?" He asked, "We do this." She responded back, she didn't know the ins and outs of the situation, but she also had a bad feeling about this and she just felt that if she didn't do anything then she would be putting her baby's future at risk.
Arriving at Clint and Laura's safe farmhouse, they walked down the path and saw them on the porch, it felt so nice to see her best friend again. "You changed your hair?" Clint asked with a smile walking up to hug her tightly, "You got a little shorter." She teased with a smirk hugging him tightly, "Still taller than you Romanoff." He teased before looking to Steve, who had hold of the little boy. "Are you growing a beard like Thor?" He asked with a grin, "With my own touch." Steve added, Nat smiled letting them have their moment before she introduced her son. "This is James.." She smiled, taking her son and introducing him to Clint. "Oh Nat, he's perfect." Clint said in awe of the little boy, just so happy for his best friend. "Yeah he is." She added kissing on her son's little head, "You promise you'll keep him safe?" She asked her best friend, it was a silly question because she knew how much of a good father he was and how he'd put his own life before the kids, "With my life Nat, I promise." He told her. She nodded swallowing hard, Steve moved his hand to her shoulder supportively, because this was hard...giving up their son who they had never left before. "We know you'll take good care of him, hopefully it won't take us too long to get to the bottom of this." Steve added, "I wish I could join you...house arrest doesn't suit me." He chuckled, "We'll miss having you alongside us, but this is where you belong...with your family." Steve added. Nat knew she needed to do this now otherwise she never would, "Alright, Mommy will be back soon...I promise you." She said kissing on her son's cheek and hugging him tightly. "I love you so much." She whispered to him, she knew he wouldn't understand but she did and this was hard. Handing him to Clint, who seemed to soothe him instantly she smiled watching Steve say goodbye to their son, "Take care of my boy." Steve said to him with a smile, before kissing James's head. "I will...go kick some ass." He smiled.
Nat wiped her eyes trying to hold it together, taking Steve's hand as they walked away, this was the hardest thing she'd ever have to do. Neither of them realised this was the last time they would see their son in a long time but they had to do this for him, for the world. "He'll be alright Nat…" Steve promised her, "I know…" She said simply swallowing hard, before making their way to Scotland.
