Poggers mate

I've been keeping up with The Animatronic Hero by Ryuu842, and it's pretty cool. If you like MHA and FNAF this crossover is a good one, as it features Izuku as William's reincarnation, and Springtrap is there too! If you like that sort of thing, I would highly recommend checking it out.

Also, I have a purely notes-based FNAF fanfic idea where Mike (Schmidt) and Spring get fused together from William's fucked up remnant experiments. If you guys want to see that let me know, 'cause I could probably get some of that punched out sometime, as I have like three chunks worth of chapter events sitting in a google doc from before I hit a block on that idea.

I have a thing for character fusion fics, if you couldn't tell already, haha. :) I just think the suspension and angst potential is great.

The awful truth

The truth about me and the truth about you"

It was a politician's worst nightmare.

Or to be more accurate, Fudge's worst nightmare.

You see, Harry Potter, also known as the Boy-Who-Lived, had been missing for over a week now and no one had any idea where he was.

Fudge had been sitting at his desk reading the evening edition of the Prophet when Dumbledore had urgently requested a meeting with him. Wondering what could have his old schoolteacher in such a twist was slightly concerning, but nothing Fudge didn't think he could handle.

How very wrong he was.

Depending on how he looked at it, the message Dumbledore brought with him was a gift and a curse. It was a political nightmare with career-ending ramifications if the public learnt that their nation's hero and symbol of victory in the last war was missing, but on the 'bright' side, at least he was the only one in the Ministry who knew about it so far.

This could be handled without him being kicked out of office, of that Fudge was sure. A governmental seal on the Potter boy's files and a few… distractions… were all that was necessary. Once he had those set up, he could let this particular occurrence slip through the cracks as it were, covering up the fact that he knew about this from the public. Yes, that would work... All he needed now was a bit more time and luck.

And for Dumbledore to agree to keep this quiet.

"Cornelius, we can't possibly—"

"Albus, listen to yourself! Don't forget that you were the one to put him there in the first place! If not for your intervention, the Ministry would have placed him with a magical relative, however distant, and we wouldn't be in this situation!" There, that ought to keep him quiet for a while. Or at least Fudge hoped, sitting back in his plush chair and rubbing his temples, wishing he could sink into the fabric.

It seemed that this particular bit of guilt-tripping worked to a greater degree than he thought it would, as Fudge watched Dumbledore's eyes dull a bit more, head bowed slightly. It would seem Albus blamed himself as well, and Fudge felt just a smidge of guilt at saying that.

But it's not like it wasn't true. Albus had gone against Ministry protocol regarding any magical children left orphaned in the war. Sending a child off to live with muggles, however related they might be, was nearly anathema to wizarding society's traditions, not to mention the fact the law stated a magical relative had a greater claim to guardianship than a muggle one. It was just the way the courts worked; the fact that magical children were a risk towards the Statute only highlighted why this was specified the way it was.

Fudge sighed. He just couldn't seem to win today.

"Albus, I'm sorry; that was harsh, and I know you only wanted what was best for the boy. Your intentions were pure, or at least well-meaning, but that doesn't change the fact we have a missing child and national symbol on our hands, not to mention the mess this will turn into if this information gets into the wrong hands."

Dumbledore took a few more moments to respond after that, but it seemed as if he gathered up his composure a bit as he cleared his throat to speak. It was a bit watery, like his throat was tight, but Fudge couldn't blame him. Not now, and not while they needed to get this situation under control.

"No Cornelius, I deserved it. It would seem that in my old age I am beginning to forget what it means to turn to others for advice." At this he sighed wistfully, as if recalling a memory of times long gone, and he lifted his head, a newfound resolve in his eyes. "I understand that the longer we wait, the worse our chances of finding Harry in a good condition are. I think that stepping down from my position as Headmaster to devote more of my time to search for Harry would be a wise choice. Is there anything else we need to discuss?"

Fudge shook his head.

"Only that I plan on trying to keep this as under-wraps as possible, excluding the possibility of sending out a trusted team to search for him without the usual channels. If the public were to find out we'd both be in hot water, not to mention how much more diffucult it would make it to actually find the boy." That much was true, as rogue elements such as sympathizers from the last war, a marked follower of the Dark Lord's that had flown under the radar, or bounty hunters hired by said parties combined with the unrelenting public backlash that would come from the public learning of this occurrence would make finding the boy impossible without also giving his location away to unknown parties and dangers.

"I see. I shall return tomorrow in order to finalize our plans, if that is all?"

"Of course. Good night Albus; I know I won't."

Dumbledore gave a small, wry smile. "I know." He then vanished into the green flames, leaving nothing behind except for a heavy gloom that permeated the office and weighed down the Minister like a sack of lead weights.

Cornelius sighed and pulled out a bottle of alcohol from a drawer in his desk. Muggles may be seen as lesser in a number of the older circles of the Ministry, but he'd be damned if they didn't know how to make a strong liquor.

This was going to be a long night, he could tell.

Wow, I punched this out in less than two hours? Not bad!

I always wondered how Fudge managed to stay in office, since he was clearly a pushover when it came to bribery and a stubborn fool or a coward when it came to doing anything relatively important. I always thought his character would have been a bit more interesting if he was more self-assured and generally savvy with keeping himself in power and playing the information game. The prophet is one of the country's major distributors of information, and it seems a shame not to utilize it in the plot as a government mouthpiece.

Next chapter I might do more Springtrap, but I also have to fit in the scene where the Hogwarts staff find out what has transpired. Ooh, maybe I should write a flashback in the next Dumbledore chapter, where I include what happened when he told them all what he found out and announced he planned on stepping down from his position and going on a mission to find our favorite protagonist? So many possibilities...
