Helloooooo. Thank you for your comments and Bonnie Sveen Fan, I'm glad you're looking forward to reading more!
Connie
'Kind of,' Jac said, 'I knew his father.' Her eyes widened, as though she thought she'd said too much, and Connie mentally kicked herself. Just as there was a small chance that she could get Jac to open up to her, she'd ruined it.
'How did you know him?' she tried. Jac ignored her. 'I'm here, Jac. If you need me, I'm here.'
She stood up and walked over to the door, looking over her shoulder at her as she left. Connie smiled sadly and walked out of HDU.
'Connie?' Jac called just before she shut the door.
'Yeah?'
'What actually happened?'
'Jac…' she wasn't at all sure that now was a good time to stress her out, especially as her blood pressure was still so unsteady.
'Please,' she said softly. Connie walked back round and sat on the edge of Jac's bed, a hand on her arm.
'Everything from when I went out?'
Jac nodded.
'Ok. There was a woman, her name was Rihanna, and she told me she'd fallen onto some metal. Eventually she died and I think the wound was septic, but we're still waiting for the post-mortem. I tried defibrillating her, but even if I'd brought her back, there was nothing I could do without surgery. Anyway, after she died, I ran to Fletch's office and phoned the police. I was going to come back to you but then I ran into Madani who was on his way up and I told him you needed help. That's when we came in.
You were lying there, and he was on top of you, with the knife, and I thought he was going to kill you. I'm so glad Madani was there- I completely froze. He took care of Mark Yates and I went to you. Well…you know what happened after that. So, after you passed out, I sent Madani to get the defibrillator for you and Yates got up. He started strangling me, but then Madani…Madani shot him. In the back. You came back, and Max, Hanssen and Serena operated on you.'
'So he's gone?'
Connie bit her lip, a look of worry flashed briefly across her face.
'He won't hurt you, ok? I promise you're safe.'
'And are you ok? You look awful' Jac asked, frowning.
Connie laughed,
'Are you kidding? I wasn't held hostage in my office for two hours being beaten up. I didn't die!'
Jac's face fell and she turned away from Connie.
'Oh Jac. God I'm so stupid. I'm so so sorry. I was just so worried about you and everyone keeps asking me that. All I meant was that you don't need to worry about me. I'm fine.'
They sat in silence for a bit longer, but less comfortable this time. Eventually, Connie left, promising to come back later.
