Chapter 15: With Great Power
Izuku was sitting on the now clean beach, a thermos of coffee in his hand... William had succeeded in his mission of getting him addicted to the stuff. By his side sat Allmight. Since the day Allmight had found out about Izuku's 'alters', he had them meet up with him just to talk. Izuku thought it was nice, even if Spring thought it was tedious. And, once in a while, William would take control to talk to the pro as well.
"How are you doing, Young Izuku," Allmight asked.
"I'm doing well," Izuku said with a bright smile.
"And, how's your mother," Allmight asked.
"She's doing better," Izuku said. "I think she's finally starting to get over her guilt. At least she's calmed down on her mother hening! I thought Spring was going to blow a fuse!"
Allmight chuckled, and said, "That's good to hear. How's your transformations going?"
"I can finally switch with both Spring and William without transforming into them," Izuku said with a relieved sight. "However, sometimes when our emotions are high, our eyes will flash. William said we should try to be careful still until we get that under control. We don't know if we still might accidentally transform during periods of high emotions..."
Allmight nodded.
"And, how about your animatronic form," he asked. "It's going well," Izuku said. "Spring's been helping me adjust to it."
Allmight gave him a bright smile.
"That's great," he said with two thumbs up. "You've been going Plus Ultra!"
"Haha," Izuku laughed as he ran his hand through his hair. "William's and Spring's training is brutal."
"At least you'll be prepared for UA," Allmight said with a secretive smile.
"Yeah," Izuku agreed. "I can't believe that the exam is in two weeks."
"Are you ready," Allmight asked curiously.
"Am I going to have to build a rocket, design my own pain pills, or write in Druidic Runes," Izuku asked with a dead pan stare.
Allmight winced in sympathy as his eyes widened in disbelief.
"No," he squeaked.
"Then I've been ready since Christmas," Izuku declared.
"O-Oh, t-they really do go hard on you, don't they," Allmight stuttered.
"That," Izuku said with an amused smirk. "Was just William...and it wasn't even his physicaltraining."
That made Allmight pale.
"And, I thought Gran Torino was bad," the pro thought horrified. "What kind of monsters are they?!"
"So, you're diffidently prepared," Allmight said.
"Yeah," Izuku said with a sigh. "Though...I still can't help but feel nervous. Crazy, right?"
"Not at all," Allmight said with a kind smile. "This has been something you've hoped for your entire life. It's normal to feel nervous. Even when you're over-prepared."
Izuku laughed, and Allmight smiled at the small victory.
"Speaking of being ready," Allmight said. "I think it's time for you to inherit my power... That is if you still want it?"
Izuku smiled at the pro and said, "I'm still honored that you chose me. I'm ready when you are, Allmight!"
Allmight grinned and jumped up in excitement.
"Then, let's not waste time," he exclaimed as he pulled a hair from his head, "Eat this!"
"Nani," Izuku exclaimed in disbelief.
"You see, Young Iz-," Allmight started to explain, but Izuku cut him off.
"Now I have to east toast for breakfast for the next three months," Izuku cried. "That's so not fair!"
"Huh," Allmight asked as he deflated, literally and metaphorically.
"William and I made a bet on how your power was passed down," Izuku explained. "Will insisted it was DNA based, and I thought it would be more soul or spirit based."
Allmight shook his head in disbelief. Those three were going to be the death of him.
"So, I'm guessing William has already worked out how this will work," Allmight asked sighing.
"He has his 'theories'," Izuku said with an eye roll and quotation marks.
"Which turn out right about 99% of the time," Allmight muttered and Izuku gave an exasperated nod.
"I have no idea why I still bet against him," Izuku muttered in agreement.
Allmight snorted in amusement at their antics.
"Anyway, Young Izuku," the pro said, getting back on track. "Eat this and receive my power!"
Izuku grabbed the strand of hair and braced himself. This was going to be disgusting. He took a deep breath and quickly swallowed the piece of hair. He choked in disgust, and he could hear William and Spring laugh at him.
"We never speak of this," Izuku growled at them mentally, which made the two jerks laugh harder.
"Great," Allmight said jovially. "Now, in a few hours, you'll be able to start using your new quirk!"
"William predicts it'll be in about three hours," Izuku said as he tapped his chin. "And, knowing him, it'll be right on the nose."
Allmight nodded in agreement. William's predictions were scary accurate.
Izuku still question how the originals weren't more terrified of him. Even watching Will's memories didn't help.
"Well," Allmight said as he got up and stretched his lanky form. "I'll see you tomorrow, young man. Are you training with William today?"
Izuku flinched and nodded.
"Yeah," he said. "William's been really excited about studying my new quirk."
Allmight looked at him in sympathy.
"Just don't let him work you too hard," he said in warning.
"Wish me luck," Izuku snorted in response.
0000000
Izuku decided to walk around while his body digested the DNA in Allmight's hair. William figured it would be better not to train so he wouldn't accidentally activate the quirk if his timing was off. He didn't want them to get hurt because they over did it in a stressful situation.
He and Spring agreed with the reasoning, though they both heavily doubted William would be wrong.
So, for the past hour, Izuku has been wondering around randomly. It felt odd to not be training or working on his animatronic. It's been forever since he's acted like a normal teenager...
He snorted as he walked into a park. It's not like he really missed it. He was finally happy with his life. And, he actually had good friends in Will, Spring, and even Allmight. He'd give up having a 'normal' life for this contentment any day.
"Hey, freak," he heard and he tensed, ready to defend himself.
Though, when he took in his surroundings, he saw that he wasn't the target of the bully. It was a boy his age with long, fluffy purple hair and dark eye bags. The bully, a burly boy with blue hands emitting frost rolled into fists, stomped over to the lanky teen.
"What do you think you're doing here," the bully demanded. "Don't you know villains aren't welcome here?"
The purple haired boy tensed up, but he didn't say anything.
Izuku watched the confrontation, and he started to get angry. How dare that jerk pick on that boy?
"Oh, does the villain have nothing to say," the bully mocked. "Good! Then you know your place! People with quirks like yours should be locked up!"
This made Izuku snap and he stormed over to the two boys.
"Hey," he growled. "Hasn't your mother taught you to shut your mouth when you don't have anything intelligentto say?"
The bully growled, and Izuku stood in front of the purple haired boy who looked at him in disbelief.
"Who the hell are you," the bully growled. "And, don't you know who that is? He has a villain's quirk!"
The purple haired teen flinched, and Izuku glared at the bully harder.
"One, I don't give my name to school yard scum," Izuku said mockingly. "Two, I don't really care who it is. No one deserves to be tormented for something they never had a choice with. And, three, no quirk is inherently evil. It's a person's choice that makes it so."
"You're an idiot," the bully scoffed. "I guess I'll just beat you both!"
"I'm sorry," Izuku said, and the bully grinned thinking he got Izuku to agree with him. "Have you not seen a mirror lately?"
The purple haired teen behind Izuku choked back a laugh and the bully growled in anger.
"You'll regret that," the bully threatened Izuku as he lunged.
Izuku took a deep breath and the world sharpened around him. He could hear the heart beats of the people around him and the world went blood red. Izuku dodged to the right as he heard the punch coming and he tripped the bully. The bully tried to grab his arm, but Izuku twirled on his heels and kicked him in the gut. The bully grabbed his stomach, and backed up.
"Your no better than him, are you," the bully choked out. "You're just a villain who's never going to matter to anyone!"
Suddenly, Izuku froze and his hair darkened to a dark raven. His frozen ice blue eye burned with frost as he glared at the bully, and his aura turned freezing cold. The bully shivered in fear, and the purple haired teen stepped back.
"Run," William said simply, and the bully took off.
William took a deep breath to reign in his aura, and turned to the teen behind him.
"You okay, kid," he asked and the teen stared at him.
William sighed in annoyance.
"Kid," he said more sharply, and the teen blinked. "You okay?"
The purple haired teen nodded.
"Can you speak," William asked and the teen nodded.
"Alright," he said and ran his hand through his long purple and raven hair. "Are you able to get home?"
The teen flinched, and William immediately was on guard. He knew that body language. Hell.
"Are you safe at home," William asked, voice warmer.
"Who-Who are you," the teen asked, and then flinched.
William's eyes narrowed at this strange behavior.
"My name's William," he said, and the teen's eyes widened in surprise, like he expected him not to answer.
"What's your name," William asked gently.
"Shinsou," the kid answered. "Shinsou Hitoshi."
"Shinsou," William asked. "Are you safe at home?"
Shinsou looked down at the ground and didn't answer. William pinched his nose in indecision. His father senses were screaming at him to do something, but he couldn't help unless the kid let him.
"Hey, kid," William asked. "Can I show you something?"
Shinsou looked up at him in surprise, but nodded.
William turned around and lifted his shirt. Along with the scars from the springlocks, there were scars made by a belt buckle.
Shinsou gasped in horror, and William turned back around.
"My dad did that to me," William explained, and Shinsou looked at him with understanding. "My mom was a drug addict that didn't care what happened to me. Please, let me help you get you out of your situation like I wish someone would have helped me."
Tears filled the teens eyes, but Shinsou refused to let them fall. He was going to be a hero, and hero's didn't cry.
"My parents hate me because of my quirk," Shinsou said. "They never actually hit me, but I'm not really welcome there."
William's eyes filled with empathy.
"Want to come home with me," William asked. "The brat's mom won't mind. She'd be ecstatic, actually. The brat doesn't have friends his age."
"Who are you talking about," Shinsou asked in confusion, reeling that someone wanted to help him and offered him a place to stay while barely knowing him.
"Ah, sorry about that," William said with a small smirk as he checked to make sure they were completely alone. "Forgot you couldn't know. Let me introduce myself again. My name is William Afton. I'm 33, and I'm an alter."
Shinsou's eyes widened.
"You look just about my age," the purple haired teen exclaimed. "And, what's an alter?"
"I'm a split personality, you could say," William said. "Or, at least we figure that now."
"Is your other self safe," Shinsou asked, worried.
"Yeah," William said. "That's why I said 'now'. I was once another person."
"Really," Shinsou asked, doubtfully.
William nodded and said, "I lived before the dawn of quirks."
Shinsou's jaw fell open.
"How," he asked.
"The hell if we know," William said with a shrug. "We still can't be sure. So, have you decided?"
"Decided what," Shinsou asked, trying to process everything.
William rolled his eyes and said, "Are you coming with us?"
Shinsou bit his lip. While he knew what he was planning on doing was going to be extremely dumb, he couldn't stand the thought of going home. He wasn't being entirely honest with William, and he dreaded the though of what would happen if he went back. Especially when he found out he applied to UA.
"Okay," Shinsou said, hoping he didn't make a grave mistake.
