A Hard Truth Revealed

Third Person's POV

Hades had arrived in the at the castle escorted by Ben's royal guards and let into the room where everyone was gathered, the former King and Queen, Fairy Godmother, his daughter and her fiancé along with a sleeping girl and older woman he didn't know, King Beast had been the one to open the door before Hades was lead into the room further and Mal walked up to him, rigid and formal with her hands behind her back as she met her fathers eyes.

"Thank you for coming" Mal spoke keeping her voice steady and free of emotion.

"Didn't have much choice" Hades argued coldly shaking his head.

"Can you wake her?" Ben asked taking a few steps towards the God of the underworld.

"Since when you heroes care about villains?" Hades questioned the young king.

"She's..." Ben replied hesitating with his answer.

"One of your own" Hades filled in for the struggling king and scoffed with a small chuckle. "When you guys try to destroy the world..." he shrugged. "It's an error in judgement but when it's one of us, lock them up and throw away the key" he spat angrily looking at his youngest daughter. "Right, Beast?" he questioned turning to the former King before he sighed and held up his hands which made the whole room jump in fear. "Yeah I'm gonna need to use my hands" he stated justifying his action and everyone turned to Ben who nodded to his guards who removed the shackles around his wrists then Hades held his hand out to Mal to hand over his ember and she did and his hair immediately lit up with blue flames. "Haven't lost my touch" he smiled in joy of having his powers restored before he turned towards Beast and the two started growling at each other.

"Dad!" Mal called out and Hades immediately stopped before shrugging his shoulders looking at her before he shuffled his shackled feet over to the foot of the bed where a sleeping Audrey laid still on her bed, he knelt down and started waving his hand around and the room was cast in a blue hue before Audrey suddenly sat up opening her eyes as the room returned to normal and Hades threw the ember up in his hand before catching it and his flames went out as everyone celebrated the princesses return to consciousness.

"Tell me it was all a bad dream?" the princess asked looking at the young king and Mal while in the background Hades studied his precious ember for any imperfections since he knew the life it held...the life that his eldest daughter was connected to although only he and maleficent knew it and when he'd heard about what happened he had been scared for his eldest daughter.

"I wish I could but it's over now" Ben replied to the princess looking over at Hades who scoffed at his words.

"I'm sorry" Audrey said moving to the end of the bed locking eyes with Mal. "I wanted to hurt you both, I wanted to hurt all of you" she added turning to the rest of the room before Mal stepped towards her taking her hand in hers.

"I have owed you an apology for a very long time now" Mal said to the girl.

"And so have I" Ben added stepping up behind Mal looking straight at Audrey who smiled at them.

"And perhaps I have owed you one too" the old woman added looking at Mal before the two curtsied to one another then Beast gestured the guards towards Hades indicating they return him to the Isle.

"Oh yeah" Hades scoffed throwing his hands up before he was lead out of the room getting his hands re-shackled behind his back.

"Dad!" Mal called chasing after them and the guards stopped allowing Hades to turn around to face his daughter stopping him as he tried to walk to her. "I'm gonna have to miss you all over again" she stated and the two smiled briefly at each other.

"Thanks for a glimpse of the sun" Hades replied before Mal walked up to him and placed a loving his on his cheek before the guards turned Hades around to take him away and he was led away only managing to wink at his youngest daughter before he was taken outside and put back in the car which took him back to the Isle imprisoning him once again.

Hadley's POV

Harry dropped the last box of my things in which we had collected from Bargain Castle on his cabins floor before he looked up at me and I smiled at him while unpacking the last box he'd brought, I only had three in total since there hadn't been much I wanted to keep or that was still there but it was mostly stuff from my room which really only left my bed and desk at Bargain Castle.

"Ye didn't haft to bring ye whole wardrobe Hothead" he snarked and I laughed rolling my eyes at him.

"I didn't you have to go back for my clothes later" I joked and his eyes widened a little. "I'm kidding Harry, you're done" I told him and he huffed in relief. "I do however want to grab a few more things from the crews pad" I told him and he groaned flopping down in his chair by his desk and kicked his feet up onto it.

"I didn't think ye'd come with so much stuff when I offered up me room to yer" I rolled my eyes at him once again.

"Are you saying you don't want me to move in with ya?" I asked and he shook his head.

"Of course not"

"Well then stop complaining and it's not that much" I argued dropping my unpacking task to walk over to him and I put my hands on his shoulders kneading them a little seeing his eyes close and lean back further in his chair.

"Ye lucky that I like yer"

"I thought you loved me" I gasped and he smirked still keeping his eyes closed.

"I do but I'm saving those for special occasions darling" he replied and I smiled leaning down pressing a kiss to his forehead before I moved back to my task and he actually got up to help meaning the unpacking went quicker and we found a place for my stuff alongside his. "Good now that's done, yer mine to play with" he spoke up and I felt myself get picked up over his shoulder before I even turned around.

"Harry put me down!" I yelled and he did by throwing me down on his...our bed flopping right down on top of me. "Get off you git!"

"I don't think I will" he shot back starting to kiss along my neck but before he could take it too far and I was starting to lose the battle to fight him there was a knock on the door and we both groaned. "What?!" Harry growled out.

"Shut up Harry, I just wanted to let you know that Hades is back" we heard CJ call out from the other side of the door and I instantly pushed Harry off me and stood up since I wanted to go and talk to him.

"Thanks CJ" I called back and heard her footsteps leave a little heavy and I knew she'd been a little upset about being back here as I was and I made a mental note to talk to her later after I saw my Dad.

"Want me to come with yer?" Harry asked but I shook my head.

"As much as I'd love to take you with me, this is between my Dad and I" I replied pulling on a different pair of pants as I'd only been in a pair of shorts since this damn ship was hot beneath the deck, I pulled on some purple leather jeans and put a black shirt that covered my left shoulder and pulled my purple leather jacket with the lace dragon on the back.

"Are ye gonna bring up what happened when his ember got wet, yer passed out on me" he asked and I nodded my head.

"It's one of the things I want to talk to him about, I'll tell you everything when I get back okay" I told him and he nodded.

"Take me sword with yer, we don't know who here might still want revenge on ye" he told me before I had a chance to leave and I groaned but he was right so I grabbed his sword which hung up near the door and secured the belt around me feeling like an absolute dork before I headed for the door but Harry cleared his throat making me turn to see him smirking and tapping his lips indicating I give him a kiss goodbye but I just smiled and blew him a kiss instead before I was out the door walking above deck.

"You'll pay for that one Hothead!" I heard him call out making me laugh as I walked off the ship and started walking towards Dad's lair knowing there's where we would have gone straight away and walked in rolling my eyes at the sound of his barking dog recording echoing through the caves.

"Dad?" I called walking into his 'throne' room and saw him sitting in it. "Is Audrey okay?" I asked straight away.

"Yes the princess is fine and I of course didn't even get a thank you"

"Thank you Dad" I smirked seeing him roll his eyes at me. "I wanted to talk with you"

"Really?" he gasped and it was my turn to roll my eyes as I made it to the bottom of the steps and pulled the needle off the record. "I have a question for you first" he spoke up and I nodded him to go ahead. "What are you doing back here when your sisters still in Auradon?" I frowned since I was not ready to tell my father about Harry.

"They're closing the barrier for good and...I didn't want to live there anymore, this is my home it always had been"

"Really because I don't recall you ever associating with the pirates and strapping a sword to your belt before" he argued and I frowned looking down at Harry's sword at my hip.

"It's complicated, people still here want revenge on Mal and I for deserting them, it's for protection" I told him and he seemed to not believe my lie but nodded anyway. "Now it's my turn" I shot at him and he smirked resting back in his throne but gestured for me to continue. "Something happened to me when the ember got wet, I felt this pain in my chest...in my heart and I started growing weaker before I finally passed out" his brows furrowed deeply. "What was that Dad, it's never happened before?"

"It's complicated" he countered and I glared at him.

"No it's not, you know everything about your ember and it didn't effect Mal like that-"

"Your sisters different to you" he shot back cutting me off.

"How, we are the same, we share the same parents so what makes me different"

"Mal is more like your mother than you are, always has been the case and it's the reason your mother had another child because from the day you were born you were more me, you have more god in you than Mal and it's why you possess no fae abilities like your sister does"

"So that's why I reacted to the ember going out, does it affect you like that?" I pressed wanting more since I kind of already knew what he told me.

"No" he replied and I frowned.

"So why me, why did I react that way?" I asked him and he sighed sitting up a little clasping his hands in front of me.

"When you were born Hadley you were a month early...you were so weak and we actually thought you weren't going to survive, I had been able to contact my brother...your Uncle and asked for his help"

"Your brother...Zeus?" I asked and he nodded his head. "He saved me?" I asked but he shook his head.

"It was out of even his power and with me banished here by Beast he was unable to help"

"So what are you saying?" I asked and he sighed deeply.

"With my brother unable to help and Beast too ecstatic over his win to care about anyone he banished here I made a choice, I cut away some of my ember which was still just as powerful despite it being on the Isle and with it I created an elixir which I gave to you and it gave you the strength to survive but it meant that your life was tied to it, so long as the ember has life so do you" he went on and I fell silent trying to wrap my head around it. "It's why you have the power of fire, why your hair catches fire when your angry even without needing to touch the ember"

"So I have a bit of the ember inside me?" I asked and he nodded his head. "And when the ember died...I was dying"

"Yes" he nodded and I frowned running my hands through my hair since that was crazy. "If your sister hadn't of gotten it relit then you would have faded away"

"How do I know your even telling me the truth?" I asked him.

"When I handed you the ember, what did you feel?" he asked and I frowned recalling back to him handing me the ember.

"I felt...complete" I replied with a small frown and he nodded his head.

"It's a apart of you, you hold the other half of it" he replied then threw something towards me and I caught it without even thinking then looked down and saw the ember in my hands making my eyes widen since he'd brought it back with him, I'd almost expected Mal to keep it and as I looked at it further I saw where there would be a chip from it and placed my hand over my heart as if I was able to feel the other half of it...he was right, I had apart of the ember inside me and it saved my life. "Take it, it belongs to you now" I looked up at him in shock before I sighed and stood walking up the stairs. "Don't get it wet especially if your living with that pirate" he added before I could leave and I froze turning around seeing his hard look which just made me scoff and shake my head at him since of course he knew.

"Thank you Dad" I spoke up before I left clutching the ember in my hand holding it over my heart as I made my way out of the cave and started walking back to the Jolly Rodger going over everything in my head one more time before I inevitably had to tell Harry since this small rock in my hand was literally responsible for my life which meant I couldn't be the only one to know about it and there was only one person other than Dad and myself that I trusted with that knowledge and that was Harry.

A/N: This was a short and sweet chapter to explain Hadley's Reaction to the ember going out, Hades didn't perform magic since we all know magic doesn't work on the Isle he simply used an already magical item and used it to save his daughter's life binding a fragile life to a magical object...I hope that explains Hadley's connection to the ember.
