Apologies for the longer than usual wait for an update. Work is busy at the moment so unable to focus on it much.I've also been watching way too much Married at First Sight Australia Season 5 instead of writing. I'm in love with Cam and Jules.

So here we pick up with Jess having discovered Arizona and Callie together.

--

Arizona stopped in her tracks as she looked down the stairs and saw Callie and a horrified looking Jess Woods staring up at her.

"Shit!" Arizona said under her breath as she realised they were in trouble. Jess was throwing daggers with her eyes...no daggers weren't enough...more like grenades!

"You have got to be fucking kidding me" Jess said peeling her eyes away from the blonde physio and turning to address her friend.

Callie shook her head and tried to explain her way out of the situation "Jess it's not what it looks like...well it is...but...I mean it's...it's complicated". The brunette realised how shit that was as an answer, but the truth was there wasn't a good explanation.

She had just spent an amazing night, and morning having sex a woman for the first time, a woman who just happened to be her club physio.

"Oh I'd say it's complicated" Jess spat back turning her attention back to Arizona who was making her way down the stairs "complicated as in against the rules." She turned to look at her fellow American "she's your fucking physio Callie, that's a complete abuse of power!"

"Come on Jess...I'm hardly a kid. I'm a grown arse woman who can make her own mind up about who I like." Callie said sticking up for Arizona.

"Ha! Don't I know it!" Jess scoffed "is this why we never stood a chance, because you two have been at it?"

"No, no, it really wasn't like that. Listen will you come in...so we can talk? Please Jess" Callie asked hoping that the American wouldn't tell people. It wasn't just Arizona's job she was thinking about, she was worried about Jess telling fellow USA team mates and the news getting out to the press and her family.

"What and listen to a pile of BS? No thanks." Jess replied dropping the bag of shopping on the ground, the contents spilling out over the door mat as she turned and started to walk down the path at a pace. Callie went to follow, but felt Arizona's hand stop her.

Turning to look at the blonde Callie could see Arizona was as worried as she was.

"Let me try." The physio said before quickly jogging out after the Arsenal player.

"Jess wait" Arizona called out as she tried to catch up with the American who was walking at a quick pace.

Jess ignored the Brit and carried on walking, her mind was racing as she took in the information. So Callie did like girls, just not her. The truth stung and she was super pissed off at the physio who was now catching up with her.

"I care about her!" Arizona yelled, admitting her feelings for the first time.

Jess stopped in her tracks.

"And I know you do too" Arizona continued relieved that the American had stopped "...which is why you came today, because you care about her. Look, I'm really sorry you found out this way, and I get that you are pissed off right now, especially at me, but I never meant for this to happen."

Jess turned round at this point "yeah right! You've been pushing for this from the start."

Jess said thinking about her Arizona had driven the brunette over to her house that night, helped her move in. It was all very cosy.

"That's just not true." Arizona said "sure I tried to help Callie settle, she was having a hard and at one point was on the verge of leaving and going back for the States, she was going to quit because of what had happened with you and not being selected for the National team, she almost left."

Jess listened and realised she hadn't known that. Hadn't realised how Callie had felt at not being selected, she had been too hurt by the brunette's rejection.

"Look, I honestly mean this when I say I didn't expect this. A year and a half ago I found my wife in bed with another woman, so believe me when I say I wasn't looking for a new relationship, I wasn't after anything from Callie."

Arizona's heart was beating so fast. She had to hope that Jess would believe her, that she would not say anything or else that was her career gone.

"But it happened. It happened and I'm sorry if this isn't what you want to hear, but I'm pleased it did, because I like her and I care for her and I don't want anything bad to happen to her...and I know you feel the same way."

Jess remained silent as she thought about what the physio was saying.

"Just come back and listen to what she has to say. Listen to your friend and then decide what to do." Arizona asked hoping the American would at least listen to Callie.

"If you still think I've abused my power then so be it, tell however you want." Arizona's voice was shaking as she said the last part.

"OK. I'll listen". Jess responded as she started to walk back towards the house.

--

Callie was cleaning up the broken eggs off the door step when she looked up and saw Arizona walking back through the gate. Callie noticed the blonde had run out after Jess without any shoes on and now had wet soggy socks.

Callie felt a wave of relief flood over her when she saw Jess following behind the blonde. She didn't know what Arizona had said to get Jess to come back, but she was mightily pleased it had worked. She now had to convince Jess not to tell anyone about them.

As Arizona approached Callie "I'm gonna head back to mine to give guys space to talk. Call me later." The blonde said softly as she headed back upstairs to get her stuff together.

Jess was now at the door and looked down at the mess the shopping had made when she had dropped the bag. There were broken eggs and milk all over the mat.

"Sorry about your mat." She said sheepishly

"I'm sorry you found out this way." Callie responded "will you come in for a coffee?"

Jess nodded and followed the American into the kitchen and took a seat at the kitchen counter.

Callie turned to look at Jess and knew she has hurt her friend...again, she just hoped she could make her see that she never meant to.

"Thank you for agreeing to talk to me Jess" the brunette started "I really need you to know that neither of us went looking for this." Callie paused "it just kinda happened".

"But you've fancied her from day one" Jess responded "I remember you talking about her and you wanted me to find out if she was married. You wouldn't do that unless you fancied them!" Jess challenged

"No I guess not" Callie agreed as she handed the American her coffee. "But she didn't pursue me. You have to believe me. She was 100% professional. She helped me a lot. I ummm...I wasn't really focused and was super close to just quitting and going back to the States."

"Why didn't you talk to me?" Jess said sadly.

"Because I'd just told you I didn't have the same level of feelings for you, that as much as I loved and cared about you, I didn't feel that way." Callie hated having to say it again to her friend "I didn't feel as though I could dump on you. Also, I was embarrassed."

"About what?" Jess asked

"I was embarrassed at how jealous I was of Hope scoring those goals. I'm the has been striker, she's the great new hope of the team...literally!" Callie confessed

"That's stupid Cal" Jess responded

"Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but the point was I had messed our friendship up and I thought my football career was finished. Why on earth was I sticking around in this grey, cold country when I could be back home in Miami"

Jess remained silent

"Then to add to all that I was experiencing new feelings for..." Callie paused and looked at Jess to see how she was responding.

"It's OK! You can say her name Cal!" Jess said "you were experiencing feelings for Arizona."

Callie nodded "I'm sorry. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but the truth was we had been getting closer, but nothing had happened and I didn't think it would, I mean why would she be interested in me? She used to be married to Alex Eriksson for gods sake."

Jess gave her friend a raised eyebrow "for the record...you are prettier than her."

Callie looked back unsure how to take the compliment.

"Cal...I'd say that even if I hadn't had feelings for you." Jess added with a small smile

"Had?" Callie picked up on the past tense

"Yeah well, they've not completely gone, but as I said before, I do understand you can't force who you like, and so I just have to be a big girl about it and move on." Jess admitted. She had wanted to come and see Callie today as she felt guilty about the tackle during the game yesterday that had initially damaged the ankle.

"Thanks Jess." Callie said smiling softly "truth is you helped me identify something inside me deep down. You helped me question my feelings and made it feel OK to like another woman. I am sorry it was Arizona and not you."

"Was it the accent? It's the accent isn't it?" Jess said smiling "I mean she has an unfair advantage really if you think about it!"

Callie looked over at Jess and saw the small smile on her face and saw how much she was trying to be a friend.

It felt so good to be able to talk to someone about it, even if it was still a little weird that that person was Jess.

Callie paused before responding

"Oh my god...it's totally the accent!" Callie laughed "I mean it's not the only thing that attracted me to her, but it is super sexy." Callie added

"Obviously I've no idea where there is going, it's still so new." Callie started to say when her friend interrupted with a question.

"Have you slept together?" Jess asked unable to stop herself

Again Callie hesitated before answering with a nod "last night was the first time" she admitted

Jess looked down at her cup of coffee and was silent for a few moments

"She cares about you." Jess said seriously before adding "she told me. I think she genuinely has feelings for you"

Callie absorbed what Jess had just told her, and couldn't stop the smile forming on her face.Wow Arizona had feelings for her.

"Really? She said that?" Callie responded as she wiped the smile of her face

"Yeah she did." Jess paused and looked at her fellow American, and by the look on your face, you clearly do too!" Jess suggested to Callie

The brunette took a few moments to think about the question.

"Look Cal, I'm not gonna lie, it was a shock finding Arizona here and I am a little jealous still, but I'll get over that."

"But...?" Callie asked cautiously

"But I'm still your friend and as long as you promise me she didn't put any pressure on you, then your secret is safe with me."

"Really?" Callie said excitedly

"Really. I'm not about to out you because I'm bitter that you picked her over me, I care about you too much to do that.

"Oh god Jess, thank you. Thank you so much! I promise 100% there was no pressure, in fact I was the one who pursued her." Callie said smiling

"Well in that case...poor Arizona probably didn't stand a chance!"

--

"Hey you!" Callie said smiling down the phone

"Hey. How...umm how did it go?" Arizona asked nervously, trying to steady her voice.

"We had a good talk. I explained that it was never my intention to set out and hurt her and I apologised for the fact that she found out in the way that she did."

"And?" Arizona asked impatiently needing to know if Jess was going to cause trouble.

"And it's cool. She said she wasn't going to say anything."

"Oh thank fuck for that!" Arizona said with audible sigh of relief.

"Sooooo that's means you can come back over...or I can come to yours..." Callie said smiling at the blonde.

Arizona paused before responding "So listen...I've ummm been doing some thinking, and I think it's probably for the best if we, you know, put the breaks on us for a while." Arizona said to a shocked looking Callie.

"What? Why?" Callie responded to the suggestion "I told you Jess isn't going to say anything." Callie said with a touch of desperation in her voice.

"Maybe not, but I, well, I just think it's probably for the the best."

Callie's head was spinning. She knew Arizona would have been worrying about news of them getting out and it costing her job, but she didn't expect this from the blonde after everything was going to be OK with Jess. Especially after their first night together, and then Callie just started to feel used.

"So what...you've had your fun with me, got another notch in the bedpost and now you want to end it." Callie said as anger bubbled up inside her.

"Callie...it's not like that at all." Arizona said, hurt that Callie could think she would behave in that way.

"Well it certainly feels that way to me." Callie snapped back

"I'm...I'm sorry." Arizona said sincerely as she held the brunette's gaze down the camera of her phone. "Please believe me when I say that was not my intention, it's just I've been freaking out all afternoon worrying if my job, career is over and, well, I just think it's become super complicated and that we should stop." Arizona said as she tried to explain, but she could see she had massively hurt Callie.

Callie was so confused at how quickly Arizona had decided to end things. Sure Jess turning up and catching them together wasn't part of the plan, but they had navigated the issue and they just needed to be extra careful.

'She cares about you. She told me' Jess's words ran through Callie's head as she tried to absorb what Arizona was saying. Why would she say that and then end it, unless it had been a lie, something she told Jess to get her to listen, to stop her saying anything.

"Is it just the job you are scared about?" Callie asked

"What?" Arizona responded stalling whilst she tried to think how she was going to respond.

Callie looked at the blonde down her phone and studied her face for signs as she repeated the question "is it just the job you are scared about?"

Arizona hesitated before quickly responding "yes".

LIAR Callie thought to herself. Arizona cares about her and she was freaking out about it.

———————

30 minutes later and Arizona opened to door to a determined looking Callie Torres

"So here's the thing..." Callie said as she barged into the house as purposely as she could with her protective boot on, not bothering with greetings.

"I'm not her." Callie said looking to Arizona who was still looking shocked to see her but was now also a little confused.

Callie continued "I don't know where this .." she said pointing between the two of them "will lead to long term, but you need to know that I'm not her...I would NEVER cheat on you Arizona...I hate cheating, detest it, i've seen the damage it can do to people, and it's not me. You need to know that I'm an incredibly loyal person, and it would never happen."

Arizona opened her mouth to speak, but Callie wasn't finished yet.

"so you don't need to be scared about that OK? I care about you Arizona. You not only make me feel good about myself. You make me challenge myself and be a better person. I need you know that I don't want this to stop, I don't want last night to be our first and LAST time together...because I'm not HER...and by her I mean Alex." Callie said to make sure there wasn't any doubt.

"I got that" Arizona responded with a small smile on her face.

As Arizona had listened to the American talk she felt her barriers come crumbling down. She thought the brunette looked beautiful standing there and she loved that Callie was fighting for them. Callie had sussed her out. Sure Jess finding them together had freaked her out, but so had the acknowledgment of how quickly the blonde was falling for the striker.

After everything that had happened with Alex it was so nice to feel that someone cared enough to fight for it. To not just accept the outcome and throw the towel in. Callie cares about her too and Arizona's heart rate increased at the thought of kissing the brunette.

"Why are you smiling?" Callie asked nervously "is it a good smile or bad smile?" She asked searching Arizona's blue eyes for a clue.

Arizona's eyes began to twinkle as the smile grew broader on her face "it's a good smile Calliope". As she cupped the brunette's face in her hands and pulled her in for a kiss.

Knowing Callie cared for her made the kiss taste even sweeter and it wasn't long before the blonde was leading the American upstairs to the bedroom.

So in this chapter we had a little bit of drama, but not too much. I did think about splitting them up for longer, but I'm sticking with happy vibes for this story as you guys said you liked it.

If you have the time, I'd love to know what you think.

Next up is the race to get fit for the Chelsea game and Arizona will have to face her ex wife Alex.

Hope everyone is staying safe. S x
