"Harry, please stop crying for Auntie Minerva," Sirius pleaded to his baby godson.
Harry had just started teething and the bouts of screaming that came with it were relentless. Both Sirius and Minerva had tried everything and Sirius had lost plenty of sleep over Harry's fits.
"Auntie Minerva, please tell me it's ready now!" Sirius whined.
"Let me go check," Minerva said irritably as she stood up. "Oh, and will you please stop calling me Auntie for Merlin's sake? I am not anyone's auntie; I'm just here to help you out with young Potter while you're still recovering from being in Azkaban."
"Oops, sorry," Sirius said, though he didn't sound sorry at all.
He actually truly loved teasing Minerva like this. The woman needed to lighten up and learn to have a little fun. Being stern all the time wasn't a great way to live a happy life.
"It's ready!" Minerva announced, coming into the kitchen with what appeared to be a frozen teething ring.
"Excellent," Sirius said as he took it from her.
He then gently placed the teething ring in Harry's mouth and just like that, the screaming stopped. Sirius and Minerva couldn't be more relieved.
