Bakugou and Kamiko quickly adjusted to the changes in their daily routine. In the mornings, Bakugou would wake up first as usual to make breakfast, and then Kamiko would wake up after and join him. Because she was on summer break, Kamiko no longer had to go to school. Instead, she hung out at the agency like she normally would on weekends. However, instead of the usual desk she sat at, Inazumari actually cleaned out an old storage room for her to use as an art studio.
"No one is going to use this room anyways, so it's all yours," Inazumari said.
"Mari-san~ Thank you so much!" Kamiko tackled Inazumari into a big bear hug, bawling her eyes out and telling him how grateful she was for him.
In the late afternoon Bakugou would come back from patrol. If he was caught up in some sort of villain incident, he would take even longer, but usually he'd always make it back in time for the two of them to get dinner together. Sometimes they'd eat out, and sometimes when he gets back early, he'd make some homemade food. He found out that Kamiko really likes cold noodles, especially when the temperature gets hot. She usually never complains abouy food, and eats whatever he prepares, but he noticed how she'd always look extra satisfied whenever he made noodles. Gradually Bakugou found himself making noodles more and more often.
Ice cream is a must to get Kamiko through late July. Her and Bakugou's freezer were practically filled with ice cream and popsicles. The two of them would sometimes go over to Bakugou's house on weekends to clean the place up, get Bakugou some fresh clothes, and spend the weekend there. They had gotten quite used to moving about the two apartments. Before they go over, Kamiko would always buy a few tubs of ice cream to stock up and eat while she and Bakugou did their anime marathons. They also made sure to stock up in the agency as well, but the heroes typically don't have a chance to eat them because they're always out. Kamiko and Inazumari would sometimes each take a small tub of ice cream and make fun of the heroes who had to stay out in the sun all day.
Once, Kamiko even went as far as to send Bakugou a selfie of her eating ice cream while it was over 32 degrees Celcius* outside. She got a reply with a selfie of him giving her the middle finger.
When he got back that day, the first thing he did was storm into Kamiko's studio. When the door slammed against the wall, Kamiko's earbuds fell out of her ear, for the whole room seemed to shake for one second. "Uh...Hi..Katsu- EEP!" Kamiko shrieked when he suddenly pinned her against the chair. Sweat dripped off of his forehead like crazy, and there was a strong burnt caramel scent coming off of him.
"You fucking bitch!" Bakugou glared at her.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'll buy you ice cream! Forgive me!" Kamiko threw her hands in the air as she laughed. For some reason she found it hilarious when Bakugou got angry.
"Oh don't think you can get away with just buying me ice cream. Oh no no!" A smirk made its way to his lips. Kamiko's smile stiffened into a thin line as Bakugou stuck his face merely centimeters from hers.
"W-Wait what if someone sees-" Kamiko pointed frantically to the door, but Bakugou grabbed her face with one hand and turned it to face him. He smashed his lips on hers and she was instantly muffled. Kamiko glanced at the doorway, praying that Kirishima and Kaminari won't come over. Bakugou's arms snaked around her waist pulling her to her feet.
Kamiko struggled to stand up, legs going weak from the intensity of the kiss. Bakugou doesn't do anything with a half assed effort, not even kissing. It's always go big or go home. Kamiko didn't dislike that side of him, but sometimes it can get quite overwhelming. "Katsu- Mm! S-Sto-" Telling him to stop was useless, because the more she tried to get him to stop the more excited and cocky he gets. God damn it... Territory! Kamiko activated her realm and shut the door with her quirk. There were no windows on the door, so the people on the other side can't see what's going on in here.
After the door was closed Bakugou pinned her against the wall, pressing his sweaty body tight against hers. "K-Katsuki-" Kamiko patted him on the back frantically. Bakugou quickly pulled apart, knowing that she was at her limit. "Bwah!" She gasped immediately. "You're the worst..." Face in the shade of deep crimson, she glared up at him with her silver orbs which he found absolutely stunning.
"Says the person who tempted me while I was out on duty," Bakugou replied with a smug on his face.
"It was ice cream!"
"And you know how hot it is out there?"
"All you had to do was go to a convenience store and get one." Kamiko crossed her arms.
Bakugou frowned at her. "I'm not gonna eat ice cream while I'm on duty!"
"Why not?" she raised a brow at him.
"I'm a hero! What will people think if they see me holding a Popsicle?"
"First of all, I didn't know the great god of explosion kills actually cared about what people thought of him. Second of all, if it were me, I'd think, 'Well god damn it's so hot.'" Bakugou's eyes widened for a split second before narrowing at her, a wicked grin plasteres on his face. It's not as if Bakugou really cared what others think of him, though he preferred to be seen as cool and badass. Eating on duty, however, was considered unprofessional, and acting like a third rate hero was the last thing he was gonna do. However, Kamiko's words just now made his craving even stronger.
"Oh really?" Bakugou whispered huskily, face getting closer and closer.
Kamiko tries to lean back but she was already up against the wall. It was then thay she realized the double meaning of what she said. "I-I meant the temperature idi-" Bakugou shut her up with another kiss on the lips. This time he was softer, more tender than earlier. Though you are really hot, she admitted in her head. The silver haired artist closed her eyes as the hero gently massaged her lips with his own. She always melts against his touch, drunk on the taste of his tongue, sometimes so caught up in the moment that she even forgets the fact that they were not dating. From time to time she'd hear a little voice inside her reminding her of that fact, but whenever he touches her like this, that voice just seem to disappear to god knows where.
"Green tea," Bakugou stated the flavor of ice cream she had earlier today when he pulled apart.
"Wow, you can taste that?" Kamiko gasped, actually impressed by him.
"A little." Bakugou licked his upper lip.
Kamiko gulped. "Do that again, it's sexy."
"Hah?! The fuck are you shitting about?"
"I'm serious! It's sexy. Like I wish I could use it in my manga except neither of my main characters are the type to do that," Kamiko chuckled.
A blush started forming on Bakugou's cheeks, and he pushed off the wall while muttering, "Dumbass," under his breath.
"Where are you going?" Kamiko pushed off the wall, brow raised at Bakugou, who was headed for the doorway.
Bakugou paused and turned his face towards her, red orbs glaring in her direction as he hissed, "Didn't you say you'd treat me?"
Kamiko's eyes widened, for she didn't think he'd actually take her up on the offer. "W-Wait for me!" Kamiko grabbed the wallet from her desk and hurried out of the studio following Bakugou out of the agency.
When Kirishima, Clearvo, and Kaminari heard they were going on an ice cream trip, they came tagging along. The good thing was that there was a convenience store right next to the agency, so they didn't have to go far. When Bakugou was choosing where to set up his agency back when he first arrived in this city, the convenience store here played a major role in helping him decide on the current building they use. "Pick anything! My treat! As thanks for you boys always taking time out of your busy schedule for me!" Kamiko said, gesturing towards the freezer.
"Alright!" Kaminari and Clearvo cheered.
Kirishima smiled at Kamiko. "Protecting you is our duty Iki, you don't need to thank us," he said.
"Even if it's your duty, I still need to show my gratitude. Come on Kiri, pick something! It's so damn hot outside you need to cool down!" Kamiko pushed Kirishima over to the freezer. The red haired hero let out a soft chuckle.
"Well if you insist like that, declining wouldn't be very manly of me!" Kirishima laughed.
Kamiko then turned to Bakugou, who's brows were slightly furrowed, hands in his pocket, walking leisurely to the freezer. He grabbed a pineapple flavored popsicle out of the freezer and brought it over to the counter together with Kaminari, Clearvo, and Kirishima. Kamiko already had a tub earlier so she didn't get anything. She paid for the four heroes and they bid the store keeper goodbye.
The heroes were taking an afternoon break. Their usual routine consisted of a morning patrol until lunch time, and then they'd take a break until 2 in the afternoon, in which during this time they wouldn't go out unless called to duty. And after 2, they'd go for another round of patrolling.
While some people think patrolling is useless and just heroes going out to look for trouble, the real purpose of patrolling is to keep people from getting into trouble. Knowing that a hero might come around any time of the day helps keep people from committing crimes such as robbery and assault. There are cases of villains going on rampage from time to time, but those are rare.
However, some smarter villains do take advantage of the patrolling schedule to commit crimes. They would study the patterns of heroes' patrol routes and select a time and place where they're certain they won't get caught. That is also why heroes have to change their patrol routes ever so often.
"It's nice how it's so peaceful today. Nothing going on, just taking a stroll, coming back, having lunch, relax!" Kaminari sat back on the couch as he stuffed his face with the lunch Inazumari ordered for them.
Bakugou frowned at the word peaceful, then glanced at Kamiko. Peaceful is the right word for the current state of Tsukuba, but there's something off about this peace, like the silence that comes before a big storm. There's always a sense of danger lingering in the pit of his stomach. He didn't know what the League was planning, and at this point he really doesn't want to find out.
Suddenly, the phone started to ring. Inazumari rushed over to answer. He picked up the telephone from the desk and said, "Ground Zero Hero Agency, what's the emergency?"
Bakugou and the rest of the heroes looked towards the manager's direction. After a few seconds, Inazumari put down the phone and shouted, "Robbery at Kagome 1st street, villain on the escape. Neon Agency requesting backup."
"Aww man, and I just said it was peaceful!" Kaminari groaned with his mouth full.
"Guess you shouldn't have jinxed it," Kamiko chuckled. Kaminari, Kirishima, and Bakugou all put their food down and gathered their gears. Clearvo chugged down some water and patted his chest to get the food down before getting up as well. "All three of you guys have to go?" Kamiko gasped.
"Yeah, you never know what will happen. Heroes have to be on duty no matter how small the case is," Kirishima informed.
"Alright, good luck then," Kamiko smiled softly at them.
"We'll be back soon," Bakugou muttered softly. He placed his hand on her head, gently ruffling her hair, then left walked towards the doorway. Kamiko fixed her hair as she watched the heroes go off to duty.
She and Inazumari ate their lunch on the couch and watched the news at it showed the villain in escape. Neon Agency was currently in pursuit, but they couldn't quite catch him. "Oh wait! It's Ground Zero and Clearvo! And Red Riot and Chargebolt!" the news reporter said.
Kamiko's hands stopped in the air, the piece of fried chicken in her chopsticks dropping back to the lunch box. She saw a certain blonde man appear on the screen. Even though she just saw him minutes ago, for some reason her heart began to race at the sight of his figure. "Ina-san," she spoke.
"Hmm?"
"When I was little, I used to not understand the hype about heroes."
Inazumari raised a brow. What's this all about? He wondered.
"They were just an occupation, like any other occupation out there, so I never particularly found them cooler than other people," Kamiko muttered. "But now...I think heroes are really damn cool."
