"But why!?" Anakin was at a total loss as he looked into the searching eyes that Amee ran over his face. He wanted to tell her that he never should have bedded her. That there was some other man out there that would be good for her, but how could he tell her that he was not that man? He had hidden this from her since that day taking her help, her support, and her comfort as they came home from this skirmish or that one with the Tusken Raiders. He had let it continue even after seeing the Tusken Raiders pack up and move on to somewhere else on Tatooine. Even last night he barely escaped spending one more night with her, and that in part with the help of a lie.

"I'm a Jedi. You knew from all my stories that I was going to move on."

"You always come back. I'll wait."

"You won't." She stomped her foot while she glared up at the stubborn man. One she had barely began to know. This taste of him was more than she could describe. The desire she had for him was no longer that of a little girl, but fueled by the passions of a woman.

"You better come back and marry me." She forced her way into his arms to give one last quick kiss. Her subconscious leading a more truthful path then her conscious lying to her.

"Some day."

"Some day." Anakin turned and then ran up the ramp and into the Jedi Defender. The ship lifted as the ramp raised and Amee watched as tears ran down her face until Melee came out and hugged her.

"You warned me."

"I hoped different though."

"How can he love a dream more than reality?"

"He is still a boy even as a man, but for him I hope his dream is never broken."

Several minutes later on the Jedi defender Anakin feels the ship suddenly descend instead of pushing higher into the sky. He continued his meditation not even noticing the tear he just wiped away until he felt the landing gear extend back out. He got up and quickly moved to the bridge.

"Master Kimble?" he asked as he got the bridge and he could feel the minor ire it created, but he wanted her to know he did not like how this felt and how he had been mislead in thinking they were going off planet only to land at the old abandoned stronghold. Not that it was in anyway abandoned with a dozen different droids keeping the sand at bay and the facilities running. He looked out the view screens to see the desert disappear as the ship lowered itself into the landing bay.

"Have you never wondered why I refused to have you call me master?"

"Because I was a slave."

"Good answer, truthful. However, you will have to start. What I want you to realize deep in your heart it only means teacher."

"We are going back to the temple?"

"You need the Jedi Trials."

"I am not a Jedi."

"You are more of a Jedi than all of them there at the temple."

"I do see how you could say that, and I think they are also to out of touch. Though, can you really say that without being in and around the other Jedi for a while?"

"That is why we are going to Coruscant. I need to talk to the council. The Battle of Antar 4 was something the Jedi had no right to get involved in. I have a long list of their more public dealings and the feeling the Force is giving me is that they are being lead into negative outcomes."

"So why are we not in space already?"

"We are not using this ship."

"Why not?"

"It is an attachment. The Jedi would remove it and I like this ship to remain mine."

"What about our lightsabers."

"Do you really need it?"

"No but it is a pain to rebuild."

"True, and you will take it with you and so will I but in pieces."

"Master the packs you asked for are packed."

"Thank you C2 and the tickets?"

"In the belt pouch."

"Good. Now let's get ready." Anakin changed into the clothing that he really felt uncomfortable with. That the under clothing had a bit of protection was good, but that it had no armor was concerning though the many pouches and hidden pockets were useful in carrying his broken down lightsaber. The style of clothing was very much related to the Core a middle of the road style that to some of the Tatooine natives had stared at, but after switching to a passenger liner on the Corellian Run other beings barely looked at the farther the two got to the core worlds and to Coruscant in general.

"Doesn't look like the Temple has changed much."

"Never seen it from down here. If it was not dwarfed by the Senate building I would think it is huge."

"So before we go in, what do you feel?" Aliora observes Anakin as he stared at the steps leading up to one of the entryways into the temple. The Force grows around him at the same time it feels cloaked. Only her connection with him showed her his expanding presence. It stopped just at the edge of the Jedi Temple before thinning out as he closed his eyes.

"Effort, learning, many are meditating. Some are even sparing. I feel several are hurt on the other side of the temple. They are being tended. Higher up children having fun laughing, but it is muted as if the laughter is held inside. High in each of the towers several council are gathered. Most feel worried or concerned. The light is strong here."

"Very good and how is this like the rest of the area?"

"The planet is oily, greed, long term desire, indifference and affluence. A general sense of superiority their view clouded, but lower down a struggle to survive. The planet feels slow cold hesitant to changes, resistant."

"The Jedi Temple is a beacon of the light in the galaxy. Coruscant maybe the jewel of the Republic, but it reflects the state of the Galaxy."

"So are they just ignoring the tens of systems leaving nearly daily?"

"I do not think so, but there is an edge to the planet. Something is about to happen. Do you not feel it?"

"I feel it Aliora, I mean master."

"Now let's enter the murky water." Anakin gave her a weak smile as she moved forward, following close behind. The older Padawan guarding this part of the entrance was entrenched in his datapad, but did not fail to notice them.

"This is not an entrance for tourists."

"We are not tourists, padawan."

"Security check shows that you are."

"Oh it does." Aliora smiles as she reached into a pocket and pulls out a metal case. As she opens it the Padawan does not look amused until the datapad beeps. His eyes widen as he flips them between looking at her and the alert on the pad.

"I guess you will not want wait here will you?"

"Until the Gate Keeper arrives?"

"No need Padawan I think I can escort them inside."

"Yes Knight Keto."

"Lady Kimble you have some nerve coming back to the temple." She turns as she waves them inside. "Any weapons that you are carrying can go on that counter and you will not get them back."

"We have the Force only. Unless you count a small pocket knife as a restricted weapon?" Anakin gave here a big grin as she frowned. Aliora shook her head.

"Who is the kid?"

"Hey, If I remember right you are only three years older."

"My apprentice, and as much as he can be trying at times I guess I have to keep him."

"So what did you expect when you came here this time? Talk to the council? A fight? Being turned away? Cause you are about to find out. Serra stopped as they were near the middle of the great hall near the back as Aliora looked around and saw two familiar jedi rushing up to them. One being Master Jurokk and another Battlemaster Cin Drallig.

"It is time for Anakin to go through his trials. I could do it but I feel it is better to do it here." Serra raised an eyebrow as the two masters stopped near but not in a friendly way. She suddenly backed up not knowing what the two masters intended.

"You have a lot of nerve coming back here."

"As Head of Temple security I am placing under arrest."

"For?"

"You know why?"

"Kidnapping a child who was not going be trained who came with me willingly or some other infraction?"

"For carrying lightsabers on a dozen occasions around the galaxy. Falsely representing the Jedi Order, and dozens of other infractions. I am sure the Jedi High Council has a large list of your infractions over the last several years."

"We come in peace. Neither of us shall resist." Aliora wondered if it truly was a crime to carry a lightsaber? True they were highly controlled but who else would carry them other then a Force user, and a Jedi hunter?

"I was hoping you would."

"Master Cin Drallig you would most likely find that if I did that even being unarmed I doubt you could win."

"Pride and arrogance I knew that then and you have not changed. I assume you are the Battlemaster now?" He looked even more offended, but switching to a more recent promotion had his sour expression weaken a bit as his chest rose. Pride and arrogance.

"I have. Now if you follow me I will lead you to a place for you to wait."

"Then we shall follow." I expected to be lead up to the council chambers, but I was only minimally surprised as the final door opened into the Force suppression holding area.

"Allie?"

"It is fine Ani. This will be a perfect time for you to practice."

"I feel the Force fading. How can I practice here?"

"Good luck on that. Go on in. You can leave the packs right over there." Aliora and Anakin placed their stuff on the table and he followed her into the cell Master Cin Drallig pointed out. Inside was a bunk bed a small couch, table with two chairs. Actual paper made or synthfiber books on a shelf. In fact nearly everything in the room was out of wood except for padding. He turned around as the door slowly closed revealing its weight and then the Force vanished. He heard Aliora gasp as he suddenly lost strength in his knees and fell to the floor.

"The Force it is gone."

"No not gone, suppressed. The rock has special properties that shield you from the Force. However, it must be thick and the construction perfect. That vent up there is the only opening, so even then you may feel a little bit of external Force it has to travel through a zigzagging tube to get to us."

"All I can feel is you."

"And I you. Mostly through our bond. I am glad they put us together."

"Ya normally we would be put in separate cells. So when it is suppressed you will want to reach out to any source, but entirely forget that you are a source of the Force."

"Ya but without the Living Force to draw on what little we have is not enough to do anything."

"Exactly what most think. Now we are going to do a bit of training. I will start first." She concentrated and then suddenly even with our bond she vanished. Not visually but in the Force. Anakin gasped and felt more alone then he had ever felt. Since finding out he could control the Force he had pulled it to him. Through him, around him, and lived in the Force growing stronger and stronger and now all he could feel was the Force that was inside his body. He felt, cold, so cold as his body shivered.

"Now it is your turn."

"M-m-my turn?"

"Anakin what's wrong? I don't feel the Force." Aliora opened herself to the Force as much as she could opening their bond fully as he shivered. She saw him react, but it was like he was dying. She knew that someone would be listening or watching them, but to call out so soon after being placed in here would be ignored. She got up and placed her arms around him and he was really cold.

"I am ready to practice what you did."

"You are freezing and you should not be. Being cut off form the Force should not have this affect on you."

"It is just so cold in here. I am fine. Aliora frowned and then pushed some of her Force into him seeing him warm up a bit. Several hours went by before it suddenly dawned on her what the issue was. She had known that he had no father, but it had never clicked in her mind that he truly didn't have a father at all that he was a product of the Force. A true vergence in the Force? No, not a vergence in the Force, an Avatar of the Force that would make a more fitting description with how being cut off from the Force was to him. Many times they had practiced concealing themselves in the Force and she could do it so he could not feel her in the Force at all, but he never really could. It was like a leaky faucet that no matter what you did it still dripped water. He was as if he had to keep part of himself open to the Force at all times.

The heavy door started to grind open breaking the thoughts that Aliora was thinking. Anakin slowed with his shivering as she felt a tiny bit of the Force leak in. As the door opened wider his appearance warmed up to be nearly normal by the time the door was fully open. On the other side of the door was a much older Qui Gon Jinn.

"Master Jinn."

"Master Kimble if I remember right."

"Yes."

"Ani you sure have grown." The Force burst a bit as Anakin got up and slammed into the man with a hug. Qui Gon chuckled as he lightly returned the hug.

"Easy there I am not a strong as I used to be."

"Your wound still bothers you? I could fix it." Anakin declared and his hand glowed suddenly, but faded as there was not enough Force to draw on.

"No it has long healed and even the Force can not slow down my aging. Though your master looks as if she has not aged a day."

"It is because I haven't."

"Excuse me, how?"

"I wonder what else the order has lost. I can still feel your wound. Do the Force healers not know how to direct the Force to rebuild the damage part of the body? I can see you have never learned restorative meditation."

"Living longer than your species normally lives is subtle path to the darkside. As far as the healer have felt is that the wound is as healed as it can be."

"Can we move out of this area. You need this fixed. Tell me when was the last time you went on a mission?"

"I have not. I can't spar the way I used to. I have lost much of my speed and I tire easily if I am not concentrating."

"Then we will heal you of this. Even if it is to relieve you for relying so much on the Force."

"I only came to see Anakin. I feel his strength in the Force. You no longer feel afraid."

"My mother is doing well. She has husband and I have step family."

"More attachments and with you so strong in the Force. You could never be a Jedi now."

"Not a Jedi of this order. Qui Gon, your Jedi Order is enslaved to the Senate. My order did not bow to the Senate or to the Chancellor. In fact we refused them more times than helped them. Those who felt the need to serve swore an oath to serve the will of the Force more so than their Duty to the Republic. I even fought the Republic for awhile as it was the will of the Force."

"We can only follow the will of the Force to a limited degree. If you follow to closely you may lose sight of the bigger picture."

"I have followed the will of the Force more closely than I have ever done since I have defeated Tenebrae. I too was blind to the way we attached ourselves to the Republic. Never did we put ourselves in their control. We left the Republic during the Pius Dea Era."

"A Recusal is not a solution to what the Republic is facing."

"The Jedi Order still needs to break with the Republic. It will not fair well if they remain."

"Is this why you came back?"

"Partially, but the full reason was to see if Anakin can face his trials. We may not be Jedi of the order, but we are still Jedi."

"Facing the trials does not make one a knight."

"It is something I can not set up, and it will show the council that he is no longer what they feared."

"Is he?" Aliora had no doubt about this, but now she knew he was much much more than anyone could have though of.

"Yes."

"Master Jedi I hate to interrupt, but I feel I have to heal you. The Force, it is all I can think about."

"Anakin it is his decision to be healed or not. If not then all we can do is give him our strength from a distance." Anakin nodded his head accepting the decision, but both of them felt he did not like it. Qui Gon opened his mouth several times but did not speak what was on his mind. He the turned and left just before the door started to shut again. Anakin's fear jump up in my throat showing how strong he feared the door closing. I pulled in the Force as fast as I could and suddenly felt Anakin did as well. Both of us were glowing as the door boomed shut.
