Delphin looked at Pulchra, stroking her hair as he stared into her green eyes.
"You know, we're going to be passing over Porposia," Pulchra said. Delphins eyes widened and he sat up in the bed.
"We are?" He asked. Pulchra nodded.
"If you want, we could drop you off there, along with your friends. Once we head back, you can join up with us again."
Delphin looked at her. He reached out his arm and pulled her close to him. She slid across the bed until she was only a few inches away. Delphin laid back down, keeping his hand on her arm.
"I just got you back. I don't want to lose you again." Delphin said. Pulchra reached out a hand and stroked his cheek.
"Delphin, you need something to take your mind off what's going on, and so do your friends. They just lost their home, as well as the entire eastern half of their country. It would do the both of you good to take a trip down there. Now, I am going to have to order you to do it, or will you do it on your own."
Delphin smiled and pulled Pulchra even closer, connecting his snout with hers. Her eep of surprise quickly changed to a hum of pleasure.
"You take my mind off things plenty." He said after breaking the kiss.
"I don't think I have the same effect on your friends though. And while I would love to come with you, to walk the streets of your beautiful hometown, arm in arm, feeding each other ice cream, I am the Director of the MOIA. I have to be here too, well, direct. And I am directing you to go to Porposia. I'll be right here waiting for you when you get back."
"Right here? Laying in bed and ready for action?" Delphin laughed.
"That can be arranged."
Delphin's laugh was cut short as he blushed and looked at Pulchra.
"Is that a promise?" He asked, somewhat hopefully.
"Do you want it to be?" Pulchra asked, leaning in closer once more. Delphin nodded.
"Then a promise it is." Pulchra kissed him, grabbing his face in her hands. She broke off and looked into Delphin's deep hazel eyes "Now, let's get some sleep."
Pulchra clapped and the lights turned off. Pulchra turned so she was facing the same way as Delphin and scooted so she spooned into his stomach. Delphin draped his arm and tail over her and was asleep as soon as he closed his eyes.
"Where are we going?" Nick asked as he, Judy, Simon, Lily, Jack, and Skye all followed Delphin down the hall.
"Porposia. It's my hometown. Quite beautiful, though of course, I'm biased."
"How are we just going to leave," Simon asked. He reached a door and opened it. Inside was a large moonpool. Hook up to cranes that were connected to the vehicle's wings were 5, sleek, black 2 person submarines. Standing at the edge was Pulchra.
"Pulchra? What are you doing here?" Delphin asked.
"I have some good news. Assistant Director Wills arrived a few hours ago, and he offered to take over. So I decided to come with you."
"Great!" Delphin smiled his dolphin smile. He turned back to the other animals.
"Just pick a sub. Don't worry, it's exactly like driving a car." Delphin turned around and ran back to Pulchra, who was climbing in the biggest sub. The other subs were just the right size for them. They all hopped in and the glass bubbles closed around them.
"Ready?" Delphin said, his voice coming through the speakers.
"Ready!" They all chimed back. Nick watched as below him, gray metal doors opened. He could see the rushing water below as they zipped along the top of the ocean. The cranes holding onto the subs wings began to lower, traveling down the walls on tracks.
"Speed lowered to 80, Director." A female voice said.
"Thank you, Captain Anne," Pulchra said. Then with a loud KA-CHUNK, the subs dropped into the water below.
Nick followed the larger sub as it began its descent into the depths. It was just like driving a car, so he had no problem learning the controls quickly. They followed Delphin in silence for about 30 minutes. They drove along the seafloor, which was barren as far as the eye could see. Finally, in front of them in the distance, Nick could see a light shimmering. The seafloor seemed to disappear and lights flashed from below. They sped towards the lights and suddenly reached the crest of a great cliff.
"Holy shit." Nick looked down through the clear glass windows.
Below them in a colossal crater, was a domed city. Nick realized it was sitting directly in the crook of an underwater volcano, with steam vents around the crater turning the water warm.
"Welcome to Porposia!" Delphin said.
They drove their subs to an opening that was covered with some kind of goo membrane. A large metal piece stuck out of the membrane.
"Follow my lead, and wait your turn." Delphin maneuvered so he was directly under the metal piece. The animals watched as a crane arm came out and clamped down on the sub. Delphin flicked the engines off and sat back. The crane moved back into the membrane.
"Next please." A voice chimed. Nick maneuvered the submarine, copying what Delphin did. The crane grabbed them and he cut off the engine. The rest of them followed and soon they were all standing outside the subs on a parking platform.
"Delphin this place is beautiful," Judy said. They gazed out over the city that was full of strange buildings. Corridors twisted and turned, going every which way. Almost bare buildings sat on large blocks of blue-green stone while some huge skyscrapers seemed to balance on the thinnest of stilts. Pearls glowed everywhere providing light, and undersea vegetation-covered every spot it could.
Delphin led them to a small squat building, that sat next to a tall see-through cylinder. Inside the cylinder was multiple cars of different shapes and sizes. Delphin instructed them to wait. He went inside, and suddenly the cylinder began to move. It deposited a car that no of them recognized. Delphin drove over to them.
"Hop in, and let's go for a cruise. Then I'll show you guys my favorite place in the world."
They had been cruising around the city for a few minutes, Delphin giving them the complete tour. Most of the population seemed to consist of dolphins, but there were a few orcas, seals, and otters, scattered about. At one point, they even saw a family of lions shopping. Finally, they drove into an older but nice neighborhood.
"Where are we going, Delphin?" Nick asked, poking his head through the seats.
"I told you. My favorite place in the world." Delphin turned the car onto a winding driveway. They drove for about a minute, before stopping at an iron gate that had a large G in the center. Delphin punched in a code into the keypad that stuck out of the ground and the gates swung open. Delphin drove for another minute before a large white mansion came into view.
"Welcome to Golden Manor," Delphin said as he parked the car in front of the huge house. Just as they all stepped out of the car, it began to drive away.
"Hey! Where is the car going?" Jack asked.
"It's going back to the rental place. Come on."
"You have self-driving cars?"
"You don't?"
Delphin walked over to the door and pressed his thumb onto a small screen above the handle. The screen flashed green and they heard a click as the door unlocked.
They stepped into a large hall. In the center, going all the way up to the ceiling, was a huge cylindrical fish tank, which creatures every color of the rainbow swimming around inside of it.
Suddenly, there was a shout and they all turned just in time to see Delphin get kicked from behind by another dolphin. Delphin flew forward and landed on his face. They all began to move into help, but Pulchra held them back.
"Wait! Watch." Pulchra said. Delphin sprung up from the floor and whirled around, using his tail as a weapon to smack the side of the attacker's face. The attacker retaliated with a few kicks which Delphin dodged and blocked. They continued to fight, soon going so quick Judy couldn't even tell what was happening. Finally, there was a thud, and the whirlwind stopped. Delphin had one foot on top of the other dolphin's chest and was breathing heavily.
"Got ya. That's 526-0" Delphin said as he began to laugh. He stepped on the other dolphin and bent down to help him up.
"I've beaten you plenty of times Delphin. Even if this is your 526th win, which it's not, it certainly wouldn't be 526-0" The strange dolphin said as he brushed himself off. He turned to the other animals. He potted Pulchra and waved.
"Hey Pulchra! So who are these guys?" The dolphin peered at them curiously.
"Judy, Nick, Simon, Lily, Jack, Skye, meet my best friend and brother, Trey Golden."
OH MY GOD. WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING. IT'S SO COLD IN TEXAS RIGHT NOW. WE HAVE SO MUCH SNOW. IT'S LIKE 9 DEGREES AND ACCORDING TO THE WEATHER APP, IT FEELS LIKE -9. AHHHHH. WE HAVE NO POWER EITHER. OUR ELECTRIC COMPANIES ARE DOING ROLLING BLACKOUTS. IT'S SOOOOO COLD. EVERYONE IS SO MISERABLE. ANIMALS ARE DYING, OUR POND IS FROZEN OVER. TXAS IS NOT BUILT FOR THIS. LOOK UP WHAT'S GOING ON IN CENTRAL TEXAS RIGHT NOW. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Texas is so miserable right now. Everything is frozen, which is why I am FrozenDolphins.
"Your file doesn't say you have a brother," Jack said, staring at the 2 dolphins as they stood next to each other. But he could see the resemblance. They both had the same curly short hair. They had the same smile. Their faces looked almost identical. Though Trey was a bit taller. Dolphins were already tall, to begin with, Delphin himself was 11 feet, but Trey looked like he could be 14 or 15 feet tall.
"Well you see, Trey here never really got into the family business of spy work. He never wanted to be a spy, which my parents didn't understand, but they still supported him. But, because he is in a spy family, he is at risk to be used as leverage. As you just saw, he knows how to fight, but I still didn't want to take any chances. According to the official records, Trey Golden does not exist, and I'm an only child."
"So what do you do?" Judy asked the dolphin.
"I like to make music. I play video games a lot. Exercise. Whatever you do when you live for free." Trey put an arm around Delphin and shook him. "Anyway, what are you doing here little bro. It's been a while. You have news or are you just visiting? I for sure thought you and Pulchra would be taking care of the whole Zootopia thing."
"We are. We just decided to come here to get everyone's minds off it. These animals are from Zootopia. This is Judy and Nick, from the ZPD. Then there's Jack and Skye who are both ZIA agents. Finally, there's Simon, who's the ZIA's head scientist, and his wife Lily."
"And you guys are couples, aren't you?" Trey said, smiling at the surprised look on their faces. "Yep, you are. No need to worry. I don't care about shit like that. Ha, in fact-"
"Yo Trey! Who is it?" A Dusky Dolphin in a robe rounded a corner and froze upon seeing them.
"Oh! Um, hey Delphin, Pulchra." The black and white dolphin waved awkwardly.
"Hey Kirk, how you been?" Delphin said.
"Good, good. You?" Kirk asked.
"Could be better."
"Hey, Kirk, why don't you get lunch started. I have a feeling these guys are going to be hungry."
Kirk's eyes darted to the strange, non-aquatic animals who were staring at him.
"Boy, stop acting you can't leave me alone. These are friends. I'm fine. Now git!" Trey called. Kirk took one last look at them and walked off, presumably to start lunch.
"Sorry about that. You have to excuse my boyfriend. He's very overprotective." It took a second, but the mammals realized that Trey had said, boyfriend. Not friend, but boyfriend.
"So, you're..." Nick began to ask. Trey raised an eyebrow as he looked at the fidgety Red Fox.
"Gay? Homosexual? A friend of Dorthy? Yes, yes I am." Trey leaned down slightly. "Is that okay?"
"Of course! No problem. It's just a bit surprising." Nick said. Trey smiled.
"Great. I'm glad you approve! Now, I going to go make sure that the mammal doesn't burn the food. It was good seeing you Delphin. Pulchra, we have to catch up sometime. I'll catch you guys later. Chow!" Trey jogged off in the same direction as Kirk.
"So, what's the story behind this place? Reminds me of our home is Vosstad." Simon said, gazing around the large central room.
"Well, both of my parents were agents for MOIA, and we have very good salaries, so they bought this home for us to live in," Delphin explained.
"Where are your parents now?" Judy asked. She didn't hear an answer and was surprised when she turned and saw the dark look on Delphins face.
"They are... not here. They haven't been since I was 10 years old." His tone made it clear that was all he was going to say.
"Who raised you?" Judy wasn't sure Delphin would answer, but she wanted to know.
"My father," Pulchra said. "After Delphin's parents... left... his father's best friend, Occisor who was recovering from a landmine explosion, offered to raise Delphin. So he brought me to Golden Manor, and I grew up right alongside Delphin and Trey."
"What about your parents, if you don't mind me asking?" Judy turned to the female Orca.
"My parents?" Pulchra got a sad look in her eyes. "My mom died after giving birth to me, and my dad died about 3 years ago."
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"No, it's fine. I've already gone through my grief. I miss him, and I'm sad that I never knew my mom, but, hey, what can you do?"
All of the sudden, Nick, Skye, Simon, and Lily all raised their noses into the air and began to sniff.
"Hmmm, something smells great," Nick said as he licked his chops. It took a second, but the smell hit the rabbits' and dolphins' noses as well. It did smell great.
"Let's go see what Kirk and Trey have cooked up."
The animals entered the kitchen to find Trey pouring soup into multiple bowls from a large pot.
"Hey, guys! You are gunna love Kirk's tortilla soup. Carrots for the rabbits, fish for everyone else."
Trey handed the two rabbits their bowls, which were filled with the enticing soup. Then Trey gave everyone else a bowl, only these had some chopped up pieces of fish instead of cooked baby carrots. They all sat down at a large table and began to dig in.
"Mm! This is delicious! Judy said as she spooned the soup into her mouth. "What's in it?"
"It's tomato soup with some spices thrown in, along with corn, beans, and cilantro," Kirk said proudly.
The animals finished their bowls.
"So, how long are you guys staying for?" Trey asked.
"Just until tomorrow afternoon. I would tell you but-"
"Yeah, yeah, it's classified. I know." Trey cut off Delphin. He stood up from the table and looked around. "Well, I hope you all enjoy your stay. Don't be afraid to ask for anything."
Simon raised his hand. He was doing his wolf grin.
Uh oh. Nick thought when he saw his friend's expression. Lily's eyes narrowed, darting from Simon to Trey.
"Yes?"
"Where do you keep your condoms?"
"SIMON!" Lily screamed. The skunk grabbed Simon by the ear and began to drag him out of the room.
"Ow! Ow! Ow!" Simon yelped as Lily twisted his ear. Lily barged through the front doors, dragging Simon behind her. The door closed, shutting off the multiple yelps of pain coming from the hybrid.
"Don't worry about them. This happens a lot." Nick said, looking at the shocked dolphin.
"Uh, they're in the bottom drawer on the corner of the countertop." Trey pointed at the drawer he was talking about.
"Thanks. I'll tell him."
"Don't mention it." Trey was still staring at the door in shock.
"Anyway, once they come back, I have one more thing I want to show you guys. Something I just remembered." Delphins face was surprisingly serious. It quickly morphed into his signature smile though. Delphin stood up and walked over to the drawer Trey had pointed out. He opened it, reached in, and slipped a few into his pocket. He casually closed the drawer and walked out of the room, winking at Pulchra as he did.
All of them burst into laughter while Pulchra blushed.
"I think I need to get tips from Lily," Pulchra said, a whisper of a smile on her lips.
"Well, that was an invitation if I've ever seen one, Pulchra," Trey said. Pulchra stood up herself and winked at them before walking out of the room, going in the same direction as Delphin.
SO COLD! AHHHH! WHY?!
