It was six in the morning and the sun has just risen. The sky has only begun to change from total darkness to blue. The stars that had filled the night sky are nowhere to be seen. The only object left from the night sky was the moon slowly fading away. The sky was filled with clumps of billowy clouds drifting away. The morning was greeted by the cool land breeze swaying the trees and branches and large waves crashing onto the island. It seemed like a great way to start a peaceful day. However, as soon as the clock hit six, Monokuma's plan to ensue chaos within the camp began.

After a fruitless search for Orie's notebook in the former camper's cabin, Mitsue and Hiroto was greeted by Monokuma with the notebook in its paws. The bear enjoyed taunting the two men as it waved the red notebook in front of them and forbidding them to take a look inside it. Fuck this bear! He knows we wanted it so badly. Why does he have to rub it in our faces? Whatever is inside that notebook must be too important and confidential to Monokuma for us to discover. After a few minutes, Monokuma disappeared leaving the two boys alone inside the cabin.

Now that the bear is gone with the notebook, there is nothing left to do inside this cabin. We better leave before the others see us come out of here. Mitsue stood up from the bed. Turning to Hiroto, he said, "Let's get out of here."

Hiroto nodded.

The two men were about to leave when Monokuma made his morning announcement. "Good morning campers! It is time to wake up! Today will be an exciting one! Hahahaha!" What was that announcement about? That bear is definitely up to something. I hope it isn't anything problematic. But, this is Monokuma we are talking about. That stuffed toy from hell was made just to mess with us.

As soon as the announcement finished, Mitsue's and Hiroto's monopads buzzed. The two of them took out their monopads and checked them out. Instantly, Mitsue noticed he received a new notification. "You got mail?" Mail? What mail? Is this supposed to be like email or something?

"Did you receive a notification saying that you have mail?" Mitsue asked Hiroto.

Nodding, Hiroto showed Mitsue his monopad. We have the exact same notification. If that is the case, I am guessing everyone on the island received the same one. What is this mail all about? I hope it will not put our group in jeopardy.

Clicking on the notification, Mitsue read the rest of the details of the notification out loud. "You have received one mail… Claim your mail in your mailbox…" Oh, it is not an email. It is literally a mail. I should quickly check it out.

"Did the notification tell you to get the mail from your mailbox as well?" Mitsue asked.

Hiroto nodded. Everyone probably has mail in their mailbox as well. I wonder what mail could it be. Is it a package? A letter perhaps? Where did it come from? Who sent it? It is probably just Monokuma who mailed us this. But, why not just give it to us in person? Why does that bear have to hide it in our mailboxes? I should just see it for myself to calm down my curiosity.

"Let's check out our boxes." Mitsue shared with Hiroto. The two of them went out of the cabin and went straight to their mailboxes. As soon as Mitsue was near enough his box, he opened it and found a long brown envelope inside.

After taking it out of the box, he stared at it for a few seconds. The tip of the envelope's flap was sealed with a white wax seal stamp. Engraved on the stamp was the red eye Monokuma had. Written at the bottom left corner on the back of the envelope was a small note from Monokuma.

"Dear Mitsue, I have sent you this lovely mail to motivate you to do your best in crafting a flawless murder plan! Last time, you almost succeeded if it wasn't for Orie. I hope this will give you the extra boost you need to attempt again the devious act of committing murder! Wishing you all of the best and praying luck will be by your side this time! From your sweet head camp counselor, Monokuma…"

Unconsciously, crumpling the bottom left corner of the envelope, Mitsue whispered, "What kind of bullshit is this?" What is this message? I am never going to attempt to kill again! I don't need your wishes and prayers. You can shove those back into your ass for all I care, tubby little obnoxious bear! But, if he is saying all of these on this envelope, that must mean whatever is inside this is going to be another motive. It will be another catalyst for a murder to occur. I need to check what is inside.

After a while, Mitsue began shaking it, listening to its contents carefully. Mitsue commented, "Nothing bulky is inside. It probably just contains paper documents." What could these papers be? What could it have to make us kill each other this time?

Ripping off the wax seal and throwing it on the ground, Mitsue slowly pulled the papers out of the envelope. Reading the contents of the paper on top of the stack, unknowingly crumpled its sides. Letting out a sigh, he shouted, "What the fuck is this? A murder contract agreement? Who would want a contract agreement like this?"

Taking out the papers, Mitsue threw the brown envelope on the ground. Scanning through the contract, his anger grew more and more as he read the pages one by one. This contract is fucking infuriating. Why in the hell would I kill to be separated from my parents? I do not want to sever my ties with them! And, this contact is total bullshit. Monokuma does not know my parents! How dare he describe them like monsters! They are not disciplinarians that are out of control! They are not robots devoid of emotion and only pursue perfection! What in the world made Monokuma think it is okay for him to paint my parents as villains?

Furiously opening his mailbox, he shoved back his contract inside it. After loudly closing it, he stomped on the envelope countless times. I will never accept this contract! This is bullshit made from bullshit. It was written poorly and was constructed using lies! I will never consider killing someone just for this load of crap!

Turning to Hiroto, Mitsue saw a scowl forming on the model's face. He must not be amused as well by the contract. In a few seconds, he might even give that contract his infamous death glare.

"Hiroto, what kind of mail did you get?" Mitsue asked.

"A termination contract with my modeling agency…" Hiroto answered, shoving the contract inside his mailbox. A termination contract with his modeling agency? Why would Monokuma think Hiroto wants to terminate his contract? If everyone's contract will be received like this, no one will be motivated to kill. Everyone will only end up despising Monokuma more.

Walking up to Hiroto, Mitsue asked, "You did not like what you got?"

Hiroto shook his head. "I don't want to quit modeling…" I understand he might be annoyed by the contract since he does not want to quit modeling. But, why does it feel like he is angry about something else? Did the contract tick him off some way?

"Are you angry that Monokuma suggested that you should quit modeling?" Mitsue asked.

"No. I am angry because he called my friend dumb and useless. My friend isn't like that all. What does that bear know about my friend? He is everything but dumb and useless." Hiroto mumbled, staring intensely at the ground. He really cares so much about his friend. This friend of his must be really important to him. For him to be this pissed off by the contract must mean Monokuma must have really crossed the line with his contract.

"Don't mind the contract. Let it rot inside your mailbox. That is what I am going to do with mine. If possible, I would like to burn it really." Mitsue shared, patting Hiroto on the shoulder.

Hiroto nodded. "If you burn yours, include mine as well."

"I will let you know when I ever do." Mitsue replied, raising his thumb.

Out of nowhere, an energetic shout came from behind the two men. Turning around, they saw Yo running towards them showing the screen of her monopad. Oh… Here comes Yo again. "Mitsue! Hiroto! Did you see the notification?" Yo asked, pointing at her monopad.

"We did." Mitsue answered.

After reaching the two, Yo stopped and put her hand on her knees. Panting heavily, Yo mumbled, "Why did I run out of my cabin like that? I am extremely worn out!" Just walk like a normal human being next time. There is no need to be energetic all the time.

"Did you look at your mail already?" Mitsue asked.

"Nope!" Yo answered, shaking her head. This dummy! She ran out to us first before checking out her mailbox? What is up with her priorities? Take a look before talking to us! See what the mail you received is!

"I suggest you take a look at your mail first." Mitsue shared. Use your common sense.

"I will but I just wanted to ask you what kind of mail we received. I don't want to be surprised by something nasty. I don't think I will be able to take it if my mailbox is filled by a horrible prank!" Yo shared, fiddling with her hands. What kind of imagination does she have?

"We received a contract filled with bullshit. Hiroto and I have different contracts but they are fundamentally the same. If we kill, we get what is written in the agreement." Mitsue shared.

"Oooh… I wonder what kind of offer I will be getting from Monokuma." Yo commented.

"Why are you looking forward to your contract?" Mitsue asked.

"Don't be suspicious of me! I will never consider the contract. I am just interested to see what Monokuma thinks will make me kill. I can't really think of any reason that is worth killing for." Yo answered, waving her hands denyingly.

"Go ahead and find out for yourself." Mitsue advised, gesturing to Yo's mailbox.

Yo nodded. The fan club president skipped to her mailbox while humming a tune. Slowly, she opened her box and grabbed the envelope. Touching the wax seal, Yo commented, "Fancy detail!" Just look at your goddamn contract.

Ripping the seal and opening the envelope, Yo took out the contract and quickly went through it. Once she was done, she put it back inside the envelope. In a flash, she threw the contract on the floor and began stomping on it vigorously. While smiling at the two men, Yo shouted, "What kind of nonsense is this! What a waste of ink and paper! Don't you think so, Mitsue?" She was pissed off by her contract as well? What did she get for her contract?

"What did Monokuma offer you?" Mitsue asked.

"Legal separation from my family! Sure, I did think about it once after my parents told me being a fan club president isn't a real talent but I have moved on from that part of my life! That is not how I see my parents. I don't want to be separated from them! They are my only family after all. How lonely would it be to be separated from them!" Yo answered. She got the same contract as me.

"I was also offered the same thing." Mitsue commented.

"Didn't you find it laughable? I sure did! What a joke!" Yo shouted, laughing while stomping on her contract. Her contract must have been horribly worded to make her go apeshit on that thing.

Three out of the twelve campers hate their contracts. There is a possibility majority will react in the same way. I wonder what Monokuma is thinking. If he wants to motivate us, I think he is doing a crappy job right now. It looks like there is nothing to worry about after all.

A few minutes had passed and the other campers had finally gone out of their cabins with their monopads in their hands. Most of them rushed to their mailboxes searching for the mail that they were told to collect.

Sitting on the stairs of his porch, Mitsue observed as everyone reacted to their mail. On his left was Yo while Hiroto sat on his right. What an interesting set of reactions. Some are calm about it like Kaya. All she did was look at it and put it back inside her mailbox pretty quickly. There were others like Mizuki. She was loud about it. I don't know what her contract was about but she seemed defensive about herself. Maybe she is ashamed to be offered what is in the contract? A few of them laughed at their contracts as well. A prime example of that is Kai.

"This is hilarious! This cannot be possibly true! There is no way!No one can make an offer like this. This is so silly! Hahahaha!" Kai shouted, pointing at his contract trying his best to contain his laughter. What is so hilarious about your offer? What are you laughing about? You are the only one who is enjoying it this much. Sometimes, I wonder how your brain works.

If there are people who are laughing at their contracts, there are also those who are clearly shaken by theirs, like Akari and Naoki. Those two have been staring at their contracts for a while now. Neither of them is moving nor caring about what is going on around them. I hope they are okay.

Out of nowhere, Yo tapped on Mitsue's shoulder. "What do you think will happen based on everyone's reaction?"

"Seeing everyone react, I don't think we have anything to worry about. It seems to me only a few are really shaken by it but none of them I think will be able to kill. I don't think anyone left has the guts to do so." Mitsue shared.

"Who do you think we should look out for?" Yo asked.

"Akari and Naoki. They are the only ones who seem to be unnerved the most but Akari doesn't have the courage and Naoki has a strong sense of justice." Mitsue answered, pointing at Akari and Naoki.

"Do you wanna know who I am worried about? Do you? Do you?" Yo incessantly asked, moving closer to Mitsue. Get the fuck out of my face! Give me my space back. Just tell me if you want to say it.

"Who are you worried about?" Mitsue asked, pushing Yo away from him.

"Kai…" Yo pointed at Kai.

"Why?" Mitsue asked.

"Look at how much he is smiling at his contract. Isn't it a little bit suspicious? It looks like he won the lottery with that smile." Yo answered. He does look overly joyed by the contract. Maybe he does want what is written in his contract but he kept shouting his disbelief. Is it because it is something he never thought someone would offer to them?

As the campers continued to react variedly to their contracts, another announcement was made. "Hello, campers! I believe everyone has read their mail at this point! Please gather at the campfire grounds immediately! I will be further explaining to you your contracts. See you!" Is there more to this contract? I can't think of anything else he can add to this. Hopefully, all he will do is explain. I am already fine with this motive based on how everyone is reacting to it. I hope the way people are doesn't change.

The campers silently went together to the campfire grounds. During most of the journey, all of them were quiet. Only a few were speaking. Kai, as he would routinely do, made everyone uncomfortable with his instigation for drama. Most of his attacks were pointed at the two visibly distressed campers, Akari and Naoki.

"Hey! Hey! Why are you so quiet today, Akari? Was your beauty sleep cut short? Maybe you should go back to your cabin and rest while you contemplate on your contract…" Kai smilingly taunted the actress. To his dismay, the actress did not respond to any of his verbal attacks.

"Pfft! How boring of you today! You usually clap back easily. What is the matter with you today? Why bother resting your voice? There is no saving your average-sounding voice anyway." Kai shrugged as he turned to the private investigator.

"What about you, our great leader? Why are you so quiet today? Are you also thinking about the contract? Did it pique your interest?" Kai whispered into Naoki's ears.

The private investigator turned to Kai, only glaring at him.

"Oooh! What a stare! I did not know you can glare like that! It looks like I hit a sensitive spot of our dear Naoki. So, what was it? What was in your contract that is making the gears in your head turning?" Kai continued.

"Um… It was… um… nothing…" Naoki replied.

"Finally, someone replied to me!" Kai celebrated. "That is most certainly a lie! If it was nothing, you would not be as visibly bothered as you are right now. Whatever was inside your contract is either unbelievably pleasant or nasty. I hope it was the latter for you though. Hahaha!"

"Um… My contract is… um… none of your… um… business…" Naoki added.

"Now that you said that, it has most definitely become my business." Kai smilingly shared. "Are you going to follow our previous leader's footstep of trying to commit a murder? We will see in the following days if you do."

Naoki stopped.

Staring at Naoki, Kai added, "Thanks for the lovely banter! Because of you, I had my portion of drama for the morning." Winking at the private investigator, Kai waved him goodbye and left him alone.

As this went down, Mitsue could only watch from behind as he was stuck with his problem. Walking beside him were Connor, Kaito, and Hiroto. Before they left their cabins, Connor rounded them up and forced them to walk together.

"What do you guys think of your contract?" Connor asked the group.

Connor looked at the three men who were avoiding eye contact.

"Clearly, all three of you are bothered." Connor commented.

"What about you? Aren't you a bit too normal after reading your contract?" Mitsue asked.

"Of course, I am, dude! I did not like what my contract had as well but I thought to myself acting differently wouldn't really help the situation." Connor answered.

"How can you be so lively? You are as energetic as Kai right now?" Mitsue commented.

"Well, I guess this is me trying to act totally unaffected by the contract. I know I will not let that contract get the best of me but everyone doesn't know that. I need to show all of you that so everyone can rest easy about me and think that I will not do anything bad. Do you get me, dude?" Connor answered. Even though he is in a problem, he is still thinking about everyone around him. Connor is definitely one of those rare good guys. I wish everyone can have the same mindset as him.

"I understand you. I wish everyone can think like you, mindful of everyone around them." Mitsue added.

"I guess that is what happens when you grow up as a people-pleaser…" Connor mumbled to himself. He grew up as a people-pleaser? I hope he was molded that way in a loving environment. I don't think I can imagine Connor live miserably with the way he interacts with everyone.

Slinging his arm around Kaito, Connor asked, "What about you, Kaito? How are you? To me, you seem like the most jittery out of the four of us. You can always tell us whenever you are having a difficult time. We are all ears, bro."

Fiddling his hand, Kaito shared, "I am just taken aback by my contract. I don't like it and what it had to offer. To be honest, I am disgusted by it."

"Most of us are disgusted by the contracts." Mitsue shared.

"I know. I saw everyone react as well. But, I am more disgusted with myself." Kaito added.

"Why would you be? You did not do anything wrong." Connor replied, worriedly looking at the astrophysicist.

"It is just that what was on the contract was something I wished for long ago. And, reading it felt like my thoughts were materialized. I don't wish for it anymore but I am just appalled that I even had a thought like that." Kaito shared. Yo said the same thing. She said she once had a thought like her contract. What if this is a pattern? That would explain the varied reactions.

"It is alright dude. What matters is you do not wish for it anymore. Don't think about that contract that much. Just treat it like your previous thought. Shove it to the deepest part of your mind where it can be stay lost and forgotten forever." Connor advised.

"Thanks for the advice." Kaito smiled at the saxophonist.

After a few minutes, the campers finally reached the campfire grounds. Just like their previous summons by Monokuma, Monokuma was nowhere to be seen. The group had time to talk to one another about their contracts as they waited. However, it did not take long for the monochromatic bear to show up. Jumping out of the podium on the stage in front of the grounds, Monokuma waved at everyone.

"Good morning campers! What do you think of my little surprise for you for today?" Monokuma greeted.

"What do you think?" Akari shouted.

"Oooh! Someone's feisty today! It seems to be the motive is doing what it was supposed to do." Monokuma replied, chuckling.

"Well, you are dead wrong. None of us are really amused by it. Most of us even hate it actually." Otoha shared.

"Wait a minute. I am amused by my contract. Leave me out of your statement." Kai quickly added. Are you fucking serious Kai? How can you say something like that in our situation? Get a sense of the atmosphere. Have a fucking ounce of unity, will you?

"At least one person is honest about their feelings. Truthfulness is a virtue I highly regard." Monokuma commented, pointing at Kai. Everyone is being honest. You can see how they feel about their contracts on their faces. Stop preaching about one person being honest. All of us are honest. You only choose to label everyone else as liars because they did not react the way you wanted them to.

"Thank you Monokuma! I think of you highly as well." Kai added, pointing at the bear.

"Disregarding Kai, everyone else isn't happy about their contract." Otoha added.

"If that is the case, I am open to negotiations!" Monokuma shouted. Negotiation? What does he mean by negotiation? Can we change anything on the contract? Can we request to add something? Can we bargain?

"Negotiation? What do you mean by that?" Mizuki asked.

"Okay, listen up everyone! It is time for me to explain your new motive which I am quite happy to have come up with! I cannot believe I was able to think of it." Monokuma shouted.

"Can you just get on with it? Stop wasting our time! No one wants to stay here." Kaya commented.

"Jeez! A lot of impatient people today! All I wanted to do was tease everyone a little bit more. Anyway, as you have already seen, your new motive is a contract made especially for you!" Monokuma shared, pointing at everyone. It does not feel like it. It is a contract that I would flush in the toilet immediately. That is how much of a shit it is to me.

"I know some of you might think otherwise but everything in that contract is customized for you. Some of you might have thought to yourself, 'Hey, didn't I think of this before?' Well, the answer to that is you did! Your contracts are based on wishes and thoughts you have had." Monokuma explained. That explains what Kaito and Yo said. They were based on everyone's inner thoughts. But, how did he find out about that?

"Um… How did you… um… find out… um… about this?" Naoki asked.

"There is no need to think about that. Don't fuss about the little details! What matters is that someone has finally offered to you what you have wished before." Monokuma answered. This could have been a properly threatening motive if what was written on the contract are our current desires. If it was wished in the past, wouldn't have the cause for that wish stay in the past as well?

"What dumb motive! I don't want this anymore!" Yo shouted.

"Yours might not be that important to you but I promise you that there are a few in you that wants what is on their contract badly. They only needed to be reminded of their sleeping desires for them to do something about it. Some have given up on it since they thought it was impossible to get. Now that someone is offering it to them, what do you think will happen to them? Wouldn't you think they will not be tempted to make a move?" Monokuma replied. I didn't think about it like that. It feels like Monokuma is trying to bait those who wished something impossible for them. In that perspective, it is terrifying. But, I still trust everyone more than the threat a piece of paper promises to hold.

"I know some of your wishes might be outdated. That is why I am open to negotiations. You can always call me anytime you want to discuss your contract. I will gladly modify your contract per your request and you will receive your copy of your new contract in a matter of seconds." Monokuma added. It is only a piece of paper. We could just destroy it whenever we want. An easily dispensable piece of paper is not that huge of a threat.

"We can just throw the contract off of the cliff, you do know that? After this, I will be tossing it as I chant the lyrics of my anthem song for freedom." Yo shared.

"You can do that but you will automatically receive a new copy once your old copy is damaged or destroyed. I doubt you have the time and stamina to keep destroying your contracts over and over again." Monokuma replied. If that is the case, there is still the option of hiding it away from our reach. We can just totally abandon the idea of it existing. It isn't like the previous motive where we have no choice but to be reminded of it every second because we were wearing the motive. This will be a cakewalk.

"Also, to claim what was promised to you in your contract, you must sign it before killing someone. No signature means no deal. Does everyone understand that? You cannot just kill someone and claim you did it for the sake of the contract. I need proof!" Monokuma shared. If that is the case, all we have to do is prevent anyone from signing the contract. This is easier than I thought it would be. I don't understand why Monokuma is excited about this.

"By the way, once you have signed the contract, you cannot change it anymore. You are stuck with what is only stated in the contract. All of you are smart enough to know that much about how contracts work." Monokuma added. That is a given, obviously. But, I doubt anyone would really give it a thought. All of this reminding us how contracts works are useless. None of us will have to think before signing because no one will be signing theirs.

"Also, if I were you, I would be making up my mind about it already. The contract is only effective in the next three days starting today. That means, even if you have signed your contract, the contract will be useless if you do not kill within the next three days. Make a quick decision before this once-in-a-lifetime offer gets away from your grasp. It is not every day you get an offer as good as this!" Monokuma added. The motive is already weak. Then, it decides to add a time limit to it? All we have to do is wait three days to pass then. After that, we can just go back to normal. Only the most desperate will buy that offer and I don't think anyone here is like that. I am excited to see the disappointment on that bear's face when the three days pass and nothing happens.

"That is pretty much it for the motive! I hope everyone is clear with what the motive is! If you have any questions, ask it now before I leave!" Monokuma shouted. No one has a question because no one will bother with this. Don't be delusional Monokuma. No one will kill for this. Get ready to be disappointed. Your killing game will probably end with this motive.

"It seems like no one has any question or wants to ask their question in public. If you are too shy to ask in front of everyone, you can just call me anytime and I will provide the answer to your question. That is it for now! Goodbye!" After Monokuma waved his hand goodbye, it disappeared into thin air. I hope you rot as you wait for someone to ask questions because nobody will. I really hope the shittiest thing will happen to that fucking junk. With this, we will not be seeing Monokuma any time soon. At least I have one less obnoxious being to deal with.

The twelve campers were left standing in silence, waiting for someone to address the situation first. The first of the bunch to break the silence was Kai. Laughing maniacally, Kai shouted, "What an interesting motive, isn't it? Don't you think this will be fun?" Shut up… You are the only one who is having fun. Nobody is enjoying the contract as much as you do.

"It is interesting. Essentially, Monokuma is playing up everyone's broken dreams." Kaya commented.

"What should we do about this, Naoki?" Kaoru shouted.

Turning to everyone, Naoki replied, "Um… Let's have a… um… meeting in the… um… hall… um… Bring your… um… contracts with… um… you…"

After that, everyone went back to their cabins to grab their contracts. Once they had their contracts, all of them went straight to the dining hall. All of them sat down at their usual spot with Naoki, Kaya, and Mizuki sitting next to each other. I wonder how these three will handle this situation. I hope they will be able to come up with something quickly.

Once all of them were settled, Naoki asked the group, "Um… Did everyone… um… bring their… um… contracts with… um… them?"

"I did, my great leader!" Kaoru shouted, showing his contract to everyone. After that, everyone did the same thing and showed their contracts to each other.

"Um… Personally… um… I don't… um… find this… um… motive… um… threatening but… um… we need… um… to do something… um… just to be… um… safe…" Naoki shared to the group, sliding his contract to Kaya. Why is he handing over his contract to Kaya?

"The three of us have decided to collect everyone's contract. Please hand over your contract to me now." Kaya added.

"Here is my contract!" Kaoru said, being the first to hand over his contract.

One by one, the campers handed over their contracts to Kaya. Everyone did what they were told to do without any complain, except for one person. Hugging his contract tightly, Kai asked, "What if I don't want to give my contract to you? What will you do then?" Here we go again, another drama instigation with Kai. I know he is only doing this to create drama and tension within the group but doesn't he get bored doing it? I am sure by now he knows how to push everyone's buttons. If he wants to be excited as much as he claims to be, wouldn't he be bored of doing this over and over again?

"Just give it to me." Kaya ordered, blankly looking at Kai as she reached out her hand for the contract.

"No!" Kai turned his back to Kaya.

"Stop being a child and do as what you were told." Kaya added.

"You will never snatch this contract from my hands. You can glare all you want but you will never take this away from me. Over my dead sexy body!" Kai shouted. Ugh… Nothing is sexy about you. The only thing you are is annoying, okay? You are annoying as fuck.

"Just give me your contract. Cooperate, will you?" Kaya continued.

Kai turned to Kaya. "No!" Kai shouted, shaking his head. I have had enough of this. We do not have time to tolerate this shit.

While Kai was busy teasing Kaya, in a flash, Mitsue stood up from his seat, reached out his hand to Kai's contract, and grabbed it away from the drama writer. Once he had it in his hand, he immediately handed it over to Kaya. "Here is Kai's contract. Handle it with care." Mitsue said, giving the contract to Kaya.

"Thank you, Mitsue." Kaya grabbed the contract from Mitsue. We can finally move on to the meeting.

Kai could only watch his contract be passed around in front of him. "That is my contract…" Kai shouted while his eyes were fixated on his contract.

Turning to Kaya, the drama writer mumbled, "Kaya, I noticed something. You are basically the female version of Mitsue without the aggression."

"I do not have a problem with that." Kaya replied, sitting down while holding everyone's contract in her arms.

"Well, you should be bothered." Kai continued.

"Let us get back to our meeting, shall we?" Kaya shared.

"Thank you everyone for cooperating! Although some of you had a hard time resisting the temptation of giving up your contracts, we were still able to collect everyone's contract! Again, thank you! I am so proud of everyone!" Mizuki shared to the group, clapping her hands.

"You did well leading us! That is why everyone happily cooperated in the end!" Kaoru commented, cheering for Mizuki.

"Do you think what happened to me can be called 'happily cooperating'? I am bummed I lost my contract." Kai whispered to himself. Just shut up. Nobody wants to hear your complains. Nobody really cares about you and your idiotic ramblings.

"What are you planning to do with those contracts?" Mitsue asked.

"Naoki knows a vault in the garage we can use. We can lock these contracts inside that vault and throw the key of the vault out into the sea. That way no one can get their hands on their contract." Kaya explained, patting on the stack of contracts. It seems like a solid plan to me. I am impressed they were able to come up with something like this quickly. Our problem has been taken care of then. All of us can rest easy now. Everyone has been basically cut off from the motive. We are now done here.

"Is the meeting over? I would like to go back to my room now." Kaito asked, raising his hand.

"Not yet. We still have one more thing to do." Kaya answered.

"What is there left to do? You already took our contracts!" Kai shouted, pouting.

"To assess everyone, we have decided to ask everyone what their contracts offered them." Kaya shared.

"Why do you want to know?" Kai asked.

"Hearing what everyone was offered will give us an idea of who to look out for. Just think of it as a precautionary measure in event that someone tries to steal back their contract." Kaya answered.

"Um… Hearing how… um… someone tells… um… what they were… um… offered… um… reveals a lot… um… about themselves…" Naoki explained.

"What a great idea!" Kaoru cheered. Of course, you think it is great. It is your great leaders' idea after all. I can see why they want to do this but this feels a little bit invasive. I am sure some will not be willing to share theirs.

"What if someone chooses not to share what they were offered?" Otoha asked.

"If you choose to do that, you will be labeled as one of the people to look out for. Be ready to be scrutinized by the three of us all the time. I hope you will not be bothered by us constantly hovering around you. If you are not considering it, it should be easy for you to disclose to everyone a useless offer from Monokuma." Kaya answered.

"Then, you should begin this confession session. You are the leaders after all. Set an example for everyone. It isn't that easy to reveal something as personal as this to everyone. If you cannot do it, why should we." Kai commented, pointing at the three leaders.

"I have no problem doing that. If that is what will take to start this, I shall do it then. I shall be the first to reveal what I was offered to everyone. Monokuma offered me a cabin where no one can bother me." Kaya shared looking at everyone with a blank expression. I guess that is why she had little to no reaction earlier when she first saw her contract.

"A cabin? How sad is that to be only offered that?" Kai commented.

"I know. That is why I do not care much for that offer." Kaya turned to Mizuki. "Share your offer next. Tell them what your contract was about."

Standing up, Mizuki looked at everyone. After sighing, Mizuki shared, "It is embarrassing to once have a shameful thought but I was offered money. Growing up, I was poor and money seemed like my savior. However, after meeting the Lord, I found my one and only savior. My encounter with God changed me. I have turned away from any materialistic desires I once had. Now, I have no interest in obtaining such materials. All I desire now is to share the good word of the Lord." Mizuki shared. It looks like Mizuki wouldn't be a problem as well.

"What about our private investigator? What is your contract about? You were clearly shaken by it. I am excited to hear it." Kai taunted Naoki.

"Um… Monokuma… um… offered… um… his services… um… to me… um… He offered to… um… help me… um… execute… um… the previous… um… remnants…" Naoki shared. Monokuma has that kind of power to give Naoki that offer? He can confidently promise to execute one of the most notorious groups to ever exist?

"Oooh! You really hate the remnants, don't you? But, what you hate more is the fact that you cannot do anything to them. You must be extremely tempted to take that offer. Is the leader going to be the most susceptible to the motive after all?" Kai smilingly commented.

"Um… I admit… um… I was… um… shaken by… um… the offer… um… After… um… the remnants… um… killed my… um… family… um… I was… um… desperate for this… um… I wanted… um… to see them… um… punished with my… um… own hands… um… I wanted it… um… but… um… they suddenly… um… surrendered… um… It felt… um… unfair…" Naoki shared.

"So, you are admitting it!" Kai shouted.

"No…" Naoki shook his head. "Um… I admit… um… I had… um… those thoughts… um… but… what Yo… um… told us… um… yesterday… um… resonated… um… with me…"

"I said something again?" Yo pointed at herself, tilting her head.

Naoki nodded. "Um… We need… um… to focus on… um… surviving first… um… Everything else… um… can wait… um… Once we are… um… out of here… um… that is… um… when we… um… should bother… um… about the rest…" Naoki clarified.

"Wow! I didn't think my opinion would be taken that seriously. I am just a silly little nobody after all!" Yo laughed at herself. You may be irritating and too over the top but you do make sense sometimes. Honestly, it is so rare that when you do, it feels like we are unearthing a long-lost treasure. These moments are precious and what we just needed to hear and more.

"So cheesy! Can we move onto someone else's contract?" Kai rolled his eyes.

"Now that everyone's attention is on Yo, let's start with hers." Kaya suggested.

"Oh, sure! Mine is pretty simple. Monokuma offered to help me be legally separated from my family. Nothing out of normal for a teen in her rebellious phase would want. Don't worry though! I have already outgrown that phase." Yo shared to the group, sticking her tongue out.

"I was offered the same thing even though I never wished for it." Mitsue raised his hand. I don't ever remember wishing for this before. I am fine with my parents. I wonder why would Monokuma think I wished this. Monokuma must have had a hard time with mine since I never really had a goal I never achieved. Although, there is one wish I have but I never really gave up on it. I guess that is why Monokuma can't use it for this motive.

"Mine was about being separated from my family as well. I did wish for it when I was being an immature child but I don't think about it anymore." Otoha shared.

"Who else had a contract that has something to do with their families?" Kaya asked the group.

Kaoru and Connor were the only ones to raise their hands.

"Kaoru, what is your contract about?" Kaya asked.

"It is about finding my biological parents. As some of you may not know, I was left in an orphanage when I was a baby. I never met my real parents. Growing up, I wanted to find them but my will to search for them died when I became busy with aromatherapy. My leaders, you do not have anything to worry about. I am already fine now. My desire to find them is not enough for me to kill." Kaoru shared.

"Poor Kaoru…" Mizuki grabbed Kaoru's hand. "I will include you and your reunion with your parents in my prayers."

"Thank you…" Kaoru smiled.

"Connor, what about your contract? What is it about?" Kaya asked.

"It is a petty one. My brother and I had a fight when I was young and wished that he is not an ultimate as well. Monokuma offered to revoke my brother's title but that was just a petty wish, nothing to worry about." Connor shared to the group, waving his hand.

"You have a brother and he is an ultimate too?" Otoha asked.

"Yes, he does." Yo answered for Connor. "His older brother is Aiden O'Reilly, the ultimate conductor."

"Dude, how did you know that?" Connor asked, looking at Yo.

"It is on a forum about Hope's Peak Academy and their students." Yo answered, winking at Connor. That forum needs to be taken down. Whoever is contributing to that forum must have access to the confidential information of the students of the academy. Yo knew everyone on the island before introducing themselves to her because of that forum. Who knows what information of ours is posted there…

"Anyway, no one has to worry about me. My brother and I are cool now." Connor shared.

"Does anyone have an offer about their field?" Kaya asked.

Hiroto was the only one to raise his hand.

"I was offered the termination of the contract with the agency I am working for. I do not wish to terminate my contract with them though." Hiroto shared. There was a point he wanted to terminate his contract. I wonder what made him stop.

"With that, there are only three people who have not shared about their contracts. Kaito what was yours about?" Kaya asked.

"Monokuma offered me to… execute the ones who hurt me and threatened to kill me before, including my sister." Kaito shared with the group.

"Oooh! What a violent wish you made before!" Kai shouted.

"It is but I know better now not to pursue it anymore. I wished it during a time when I felt like every day was hell because everyone persecuted me for being a twin brother of a remnant. Witnessing the death of others and having my life flash before my very eyes multiple times, I know no one deserves to die brutally. I don't wish death on anyone anymore." Kaito shared.

"Akari, what was yours about?" Kaya asked.

"Mine is also an offer of executing people…" Akari answered with her head bowed down.

"Who are these people?" Mizuki asked.

"The directors who took advantage of me…" Akari answered.

"What do you think about your offer? Are you considering it?" Kai asked.

"I am not… Even though they did something horrible to me, I think executing them is too much. I am not considering it. Everyone has nothing to worry about me." Akari explained. Although she says she is not considering it, her eyes say something different.

"With that, the only one left is Kai. What is your contract about?" Kaya asked.

"I am excited to tell everyone that I was offered to be a member of the remnants! Isn't that completely ridiculous? I can be a remnant if I simply kill one of you!" Kai shouted happily. If he is already this problematic as a supporter, I cannot imagine the horrendous shit he can do as a remnant. If he becomes one, he will definitely treat the world as a chessboard with everyone as the chess pieces. He will move everyone until chaos ensues and there is nothing left to do.

"Are you considering it?" Mizuki asked.

"I am." Kai blankly answered Mizuki. I won't say I am shocked because I am not. Everyone in the hall fell quiet. After a few seconds, the silence caused by Kai was only shattered by his laughter.

"Oh my gosh! Everyone's face cracked! Hahahaha! I was only kidding!" Kai added. Were you?

"Your joke wasn't funny!" Mizuki shouted.

"Dude, why joke like that?" Connor asked.

"Come on! Why does no one have a sense of humor like mine?" Kai asked. Because you are a one-of-a-kind douchebag!

"Although I want to be one, I doubt an animatronic bear can make me be one. He offered to kill the remnants to Naoki. I doubt someone willing to kill the remnants can make me be one. That means that bear do not belong to any side. He is only loyal to one side, his. If I were you, I wouldn't be considering the offer too seriously." Kai shared. He does have a point. How can he take the offer seriously based on what was offered to others? And now that he mentioned it, I wonder which side Monokuma stands with. He is willing to kill the remnants and as well add more members. Where does his loyalty lie? Is Monokuma just an entity existing only to mess shit up for both sides?

"Thank you everyone for sharing about their contracts! We were able to assess everyone properly! Thank you for your cooperation!" Mizuki told everyone.

"So, based on your assessment, which one of us poses a threat to the group?" Kai asked.

"We cannot tell you that." Kaya blankly answered.

"What a letdown! I thought you would reveal who is a danger as if they were in a reality game show and they were about to be booted off." Kai commented, rolling his eyes.

"I am sure no one is going to be a danger! Everyone seems to not care much for their contract!" Yo smilingly shared.

"Just because they say and act that they are not thinking about it does not mean they are not really thinking about it. It is easy to act okay, especially for a certain few in this hall. I wouldn't let my guard down if I were you." Kai shared, creepily grinning at everyone.

"Stop scaring everyone, Kai. Although, Kai has a point. Do not let your guard down. That should already be a given. Stay vigilant and safe." Kaya shared.

After that, three leaders had decided to adjourn the meeting. Right away, some left and went back to their cabins while others stayed for breakfast.

It was ten in the morning and the sun has fully risen. The sky has turned to light blue and is the background to big billowy clouds floating and drifting slowly. The golden rays of the sun are brightly beaming down on the island giving the inhabitants of the little isle the warmth it needs. Unlike yesterday, the heat was tolerable and the sea breeze is swirling around the island, cooling it down. The trees and the bushes swayed as the breeze rushes through it.

After the fiasco that happened earlier, the island had become relatively peaceful once again. Everyone has gone on with their day, not minding the contracts that were given to them. Most of them are already looking forward to their lunch while some had only finished their breakfast.

On his way back to his cabin from the hall, Mitsue was carrying Rafiki on his shoulder. I know this monkey can walk but why does it always choose to sit on my shoulder? It does not make sense. This monkey is not only a glutton but is also a lazy bum. It is even eating a berry right now. I am not some kind of limousine. Don't eat your snack on me while you wait to arrive at your destination! Do you know how awkward it is to walk with you on me?

While watching Rafiki eat, Mitsue was reminded of his breakfast. I had a lovely breakfast today thanks to that mysterious person. I had crispy bacon strips, golden hash browns, and scrambled eggs with a glass of orange juice. It was not as fancy as the previous meals I had saved by the mysterious person but it was still delicious. They must have rushed today's breakfast for me. It was still great though. The thought of someone making these meals for me is enough to make me grateful. Nobody really does this for me, even my parents don't. They expect me to cook and save food for them. Being remembered like this feels nice…

Stroking the monkey's tail, Mitsue asked, "I wonder if you feel nice to be treated like the way you are. It must feel nice to be thought of and pampered all the time. I envy you."

Mitsue continued walking with Rafiki silently. All of a sudden, the monkey jumped off of Mitsue's shoulder and ran into the forest. "Where the fuck are you going?" Mitsue shouted as he watched the little creature dash away from him.

Forced to follow, Mitsue ran as well into the forest. He crossed bushes, stepped on twigs and mushrooms, swatted branches out of the way, and jumped over boulders only to catch up on the nimble little monkey. Where is this monkey going? Does it always do this with Kia? Is this the reason why we see Kia randomly pop out of trees, just to follow this monkey? Does this monkey care about the people who take care of it? Does it just randomly start a game tag? How exhausting it is to take care of Rafiki!

After a few minutes of running and aimlessly going around the forest in circles, Rafiki finally stopped on a log. It sat on top of it and looked at Mitsue smilingly. Are you happy now that you made me sweat? Did you have fun? Are you now fulfilled? Can you come to me now peacefully? Just stay put. I promise I will make you regret doing this to me, you little piece of shit.

Slowly, Mitsue walked towards the monkey. The two did not break eye contact as Mitsue approached the animal. When he was only a few inches away from the monkey, Mitsue cautiously put his arms out and suddenly pounced onto the monkey wrapping it inside his arms. Lying on the ground, Mitsue laughed victoriously. I got you now, you little devil. There is no way I am letting you escape again. I am not going to run around in this forest just to catch you again. Come with me in peace or by force.

Carefully, Mitsue stood up while the monkey is in his arms, struggling to get out of his hold. After a few seconds of squirming, the monkey stopped and let Mitsue carry it away. Finally, you have given up due to my strength. Don't think I will let you get away again. You were only lucky to have managed to evade me earlier with your nimbleness. However, you don't have luck on your side now that I have you in my arms.

After basking in the glory of his victory in pursuing the monkey, Mitsue began making his way back. As he was looking around, he quickly realized something. Looking at the trees around him, Mitsue whispered, "We are in trouble. I don't know where we are. We are lost." This is all your fault you little shit. Why did you have to run into the forest so randomly? Couldn't you have run off to somewhere we are both familiar with? Well, there is no use in bickering with this monkey. I should just find my way.

Aimlessly walking around, Mitsue has been lost in the forest for a couple of minutes already. Frustrated, Mitsue begins to ramble. "This is your fucking fault Rafiki! Where the fuck did you lead me to? Do you know which way you went? Can you show me the way out how you showed me the way to get lost? For an adorable creature, you can be so fucking annoying. Do you know that?"

While Mitsue was berating Rafiki, the monkey slipped away and ran off again. Of course, he got away. The monkey got away and wants to play another game of tag! Jeez! Fuck my life! Can't we just stay together? I don't want to run after that little shit again!

Letting out a frustrated sigh, Mitsue ran off again to follow the monkey. After a few minutes of going around the forest, Mitsue found the monkey silently sitting on top of a log. However, this time, the monkey was staring at someone else. Kneeling in front of the log where Rafiki was sitting on was Kaya shooing away the monkey.

"Go away! Shoo! Run along! Stop bothering me! When I finally thought I could be alone, along comes a monkey out of nowhere." Kaya shouted, rolling her eyes. I understand how you feel. I know how annoying it is to be disturbed.

Slowly walking towards the two, Mitsue greeted, "I am sorry for disturbing you. That monkey has been a handful. It keeps running away from you."

"And another one comes…" Kaya commented, pointing at Mitsue.

"I will be taking the monkey away from you now and we will go on our way." Mitsue shared.

"Thank you! I have been trying to get here undisturbed. Kaoru keeps following me. He cannot feel how awkward I am with him constantly showing up out of nowhere." Kaya shared. I guess Kaoru was kind of like that with me when I was still the leader. Enthusiasm is greatly appreciated but blind devotion is just something else.

Grabbing the monkey, Mitsue commented, "Kaoru can be too much but he will stop following you once you tell him off. He will obey anything you say."

"Thanks for the advice. I will tell him off later then." Kaya replied.

While picking up Rafiki, Mitsue noticed Kaya was holding a notebook and a pencil. What is she even doing here anyway?

"What are you doing here by the way?" Mitsue asked.

"I am observing all of the mushrooms on this island." Kaya answered. I guess it is only natural for her to be this interested in mushrooms. It is her specialty after all. As a mycotoxicologist, she studies mushrooms.

"How is your observation going then?" Mitsue continued.

"It has been interesting. I have never recorded data like this from any known species of mushroom. I believe this mushroom has never been discovered before." Kaya shared while looking at the white mushroom with purple dots.

"What made you think so?" Mitsue asked, staring at the mushroom.

"I am not new with dealing with bioluminescent mushrooms but this is the first time I have seen a mushroom that glows violet in the dark. Usually, bioluminescent mushrooms only glow green. No one has ever seen a mushroom glow in a different color. If that is the case, this will be the first time in history anyone has seen a mushroom like this and I will be the one to record it." Kaya shared.

"Congratulations on your discovery." Mitsue greeted Kaya.

"Do not congratulate me yet. I still have to do a proper rundown on this mushroom. I need to dissect and assess it. I have to figure out how it is emitting this color. And, I need to know if this mushroom is poisonous." Kaya added.

"That is a given that you would want to know if it is poisonous. You are a mycotoxicologist after all. You study toxins from mushrooms." Mitsue commented.

"If only I have all of my equipment, then I can do a proper analysis on this specimen. For now, I am stuck with observing its physical traits." Kaya added. She is usually cold towards others but she can be as enthusiastic as everyone else when it comes to their passion. She seriously prefers mushrooms over people, doesn't she?

"You prefer the company of mushrooms over people, don't you?" Mitsue added.

"Of course. Mushrooms do not bother me. They do not talk to me and ask me annoying questions. I do not have to 'connect' with it to work with it. They are only there when I look for them and need them for work. Unlike mushrooms, people do a lot of useless stuff." Kaya shared. She does not only prefer mushrooms over people. She hates people. She is a loner by choice.

"You want to be alone all the time if you can, don't you?" Mitsue asked.

"Yes and I do not see anything wrong with that, do you?" Kaya asked back.

"I don't. I think it is perfectly fine to be alone if you want to be. Nobody should force people to interact with others if they do not want to. Let them be when they do not want to be with you. I know how it feels to talk to people when you don't want to." Mitsue agreed.

"Thank you for not judging me. You are actually the first one to agree with me. Whenever I tell people I hate company, they always try to make me lighten up and be more sociable. I do not want to be sociable. I am already fine with being myself. They say three is a crowd. Well, I say 'As long as you are not alone, you are in a crowd.'." Kaya added. She hates company that much. I wonder how her job of being a leader is to her. She has to deal with people on a regular. She must have known it would be like that before accepting it. Why did she accept it?

"You hate people but you still accepted the job of being a leader. Why?" Mitsue asked.

"People will be bugging me more if I did not." Kaya answered. She did it to avoid more interactions.

"You are doing well as a leader by the way." Mitsue commended Kaya.

"Thank you. I am just doing what you did when you were the leader, being vocal and assertive. Honestly, I did not mind your leadership style as much others did. You made people go to work. You did what you had to do to make this bunch of weirdos help out. If people really hate your leadership style, they would have said something about us already. We are basically doing the same thing. The only thing different is there are three of us." Kaya replied. I did not notice that. I guess she is right. The three of them have been bossing around everyone but no one seems to point it out. Is it because there are three of them and no one can pinpoint who is overbearing when they are collectively?

"Anyway, I should probably leave you alone with what you were doing but I don't know how to get out of these woods. Do you happen to know how to get out of here?" Mitsue asked.

Putting on a pair of gloves and a mask, Kaya answered, "Go left. Once you see two logs stacked on top of each other, turn right. Continue walking until you see the ward."

"Thank you!" Mitsue said again.

"If you want to thank me, leave me alone now." Kaya replied, pulling a Ziploc bag and a small knife out of her notebook.

As Mitsue was walking away, Kaya cut a mushroom from the log and held it out. "What a beautiful specimen…" Kaya whispered, looking at the mushroom.

Suddenly, Rafiki got away from Mitsue's hold again. "Rafiki!" Mitsue shouted.

Rafiki bolted towards Kaya. When Kaya was about to put the mushroom in the bag, the monkey snatched it from her hand.

"My mushroom!" Kaya shouted, chasing the monkey.

Mitsue and Kaya ran together chasing Rafiki until it climbed on a rock. The monkey held the mushroom in the air as it stared at it with a big smile on its face.

"Give my mushroom back!" Kaya shouted as she stopped from running.

"Stop causing more trouble. You already have done enough for today." Mitsue added.

No matter what the two said, Rafiki continued to stare at the mushroom. Suddenly, it took a huge bite from the mushroom.

"Stop!" Kaya shouted. However, it was too late. The monkey had already swallowed the piece of mushroom it bit off. Throwing the mushroom away, the only thing left on the monkey that was from the mushroom was its purple spores around its mouth. This monkey is really a glutton. It will eat anything it can get its hands on.

Suddenly, Rafiki fell to the ground. Rafiki! Mitsue rushed to the monkey and held it in his arms. "Wake up, Rafiki! Wake up!" Mitsue continued to shout, desperately trying to wake up Rafiki.
