The Planet Eater walked onto shore from the bay. It was enormous. It swung its three tails around. All three had barbs on the end of them just like in Aang's nightmare. One of the tails smashed a wagon in the street. It opened it funnel mouth to reveal thousands of sharp jagged teeth. It screamed and the vibrations of the yell destroyed a whole three story building.

Sokka, Suki and Toph were together on the ground looking up at the beast's body. Sokka saw that it had hundreds of tentacles. "This is going to take awhile. Suki stay close to me. The creature is creating a thick black fog it will be difficult to find each other if we get separated. We'll have to work in unison to slice off all these tentacles. Watch out Suki make sure it's body doesn't touch you."

"Don't worry Sokka. I saw what it did to Gai. I will be ok I'm very acrobatic it's you I'm worried about."

Sokka smiled. "Let's watch each other's backs. Are you ready for you're roll Toph?"

"Heck ya I am" Toph smirked. "I'm so ready to metalbend that creature in place. You can count on me. I'll give it my best." Toph proceeded to grab a whole bunch of metal. She ripped it from a bunch of abandoned buildings. Toph quickly wrapped the metal around the beast's six legs. The Planet Eater did not like that. It turned its head towards her ready to attack. But it was distracted by Zuko and Azula flying around belting it with fire blasts. The Planet Eater tried to grab Azula in it's tentacles but Azula was too quick and stayed out of it's range. Zuko ducked the flying debris that the creature had thrown at him with its tentacles in an attempt to stop the fire lord's assault.

Sokka and Suki meanwhile were slicing tentacle after tentacle protecting Toph from the tentacles that were reaching down to grab her. Toph kept all of her concentration on the metal she had twisted tightly around all six legs. She threw all her might into it to keep the Planet Eater bolted down. She was sweating heavily. This thing was tough. But her efforts were working. The Planet Eater was trapped in one spot.

In the meantime Aang and Katara were still debating on what was the safest way to position themselves was. They would be right in the line of fire. Aang was scared and upset that Katara would be touched or hit by its attacks. There had to be some way to protect her from getting hurt. Then Aang remembered their connection. The deep love Aang felt for Katara and the love she felt for him. Maybe that connection could help in his battle to keep Katara safe.

"Katara before we enter the eye of the storm could you stand in front of me? Don't move a muscle. I want to try something and see if it works. It will give me peace of mind if it does."

Katara was confused as to what Aang was getting at but she obeyed her hubby and stood in front of him. Aang sat down in front of her and meditated. He was concentrating deeply. Katara could tell he was passionate about whatever it was he was trying. She figured it was an idea he had to keep her safe. And she was right. Aang entered the avatar state. His tattoos glowed with the brilliance of the sun. Aang continued concentrating on the bond him and Katara shared.

Katara felt a weird but warm sensation. Her body began to glow with a brilliant light. The same light that Aang possessed when he was in the avatar state. Then Katara figured it out. Because of their strong love for each other Aang was able to give Katara some of his avatar state. Katara felt unbelievable power. So this was what Aang felt like when he was in the avatar state. No wonder he feared it so much. The power was incredible. Katara felt like she could destroy a whole island. Aang stood up and smiled. He realized his idea had worked. Katara had a part of him around her. She had access to his avatar state. That would definitely protect her from getting killed by the monster and that's all Aang wanted. To keep Katara safe.

"Are you ready Katara? How do you feel?" Aang asked as he was about to fly up at the creature to pummel it.

"How is this possible? How do I have the avatar state like you?" Katara was confused.

"It's because of our connection to each other" Aang explained. "We love each other so deeply it gives you access to my power. Our connection is what's allowing this to be possible. Our eternal bond."

Katara smiled and blushed. She knew that's what it was but she wanted to hear Aang explain it so she could confirm it. She was happy to have protection from the Planet Eater's attacks and it was her husband who was giving her that added protection which made it all the more special to her. "I'm soo ready sweetie" Katara said her face determined. "I feel so powerful. So this is what you feel like when you're in the avatar state. I always wondered what it felt like to have incredible power like this at you're fingertips. It feels overwhelming but awesome at the same time. I'm ready let's go kick this creature's butt."

Aang smiled his face content then he turned his attention to the battle. He wrapped all the elements around his body. Just like with his fight with Ozai. He shot up into the sky. Katara bent water to create her ice bridge to help her reach the monster's face. The speed at which she was able to bend water increased because of the avatar state. Both of them soon were at the Planet Eater's head. They posed ready to give the beast punishment.
