Rabb Apartment

North of Union Station

Harm unlocked the door to the apartment after fighting the raging snowstorm outside on the drive home from work, he was looking forward to a nice warm apartment and a nice hot meal. However, upon entering the first thing he noticed was how cold and dark it was inside. He went to check the thermostat. That was when he heard Mac telling Rosie to cover up. She'd be right back. Mac walked out carrying a large lantern-style light in her hand, she came face to face with Harm.

"Jesus .. Harm you scared the crap out of me."

"Sorry sweetheart; I just walked in, how long has the power been out?"

"Most of the day; I've called the power company, they've no clue how long we will be without power. I'm worried about the kids tonight. Especially Tommy; he's still little and needs heat to stay warm."

It was times like this that Harm hated this old building, he knew it didn't have a state-of-the-art heating and cooling system. "I'm going to make a couple of calls."

"Harm this..." He held his hand up. Mac watched her husband; this is the Harmon Rabb she remembers; the one that would do anything for the ones he loves. She stood and watched. "I'll be back."

Harm grabbed his keys and headed out. Leaving her to wonder what he was doing. In the meantime, Rosie wandered out of her room over to her mommy. She tugged on Mac's pants. "Mama me cold; no like the cold."

"I know baby girl; dada..."

Getting excited, Rosie started looking around the dimly lit apartment for her dada. "Mama where dada at?"

Reaching down and picking up her baby girl; "Dada has gone to get us something to help us."

"What?"

"I wish I knew baby girl." Mac looked back over towards the door. In the meantime, she decided to try and at least make the best of their current situation, she headed to the bedroom and went about taking out all the blankets, she could find. After doing this, she went back down to the living room, " Rosie do you want to help mama make a fort?"

"What a fort?"

"It's a special place for me, you, and Tommy to go into while we wait for dada to come home."

Rosie smiled; "okay mama; me help." Mac moved the furniture around and started placing the blankets all over the top. After working on this for a while they had finished the job. Both mother and daughter stood back admiring their handy work. Mac was about to go retrieve Tommy; when the lights and heat suddenly came on.

Before either one could react; the door opened and in walked Harm sporting a big grin on his face. "I told ya I'd..." He was shocked when he saw the sad looks on Mac and Rosie's faces. "Hey; what's with the sad faces?"

"Dada; we go in fort. No, go now, lights on."

He reached down and picked up his baby girl, "we can still go in the fort. Why don't you go get your teddy bear and anything else, you want to take in the fort."

"K; dada." Harm sat her down and watched as she went to her room. He then looked over towards his wife. "Now why are you mad at me?"

"I not mad; I'm just wondering how you got the power back on? When I tried all day. Care to explain this?"

"Simple; I called in a favor and had to generator brought out that is big enough to power the whole building at least for the next few days."

"Perks of being an Admiral right!"

"Actually perks of being a former JAG attorney that got a former client cleared of charges."

"Anyone I might know?"

"Classified information Colonel. By the way I approve of the sweat shirt."

Mac looked down; suddenly realizing what she grabbed. "Ahh; well you know..."

Leaning into her ear, nuzzling it. "I think you look sexy in my navy sweatshirt. But I've always thought that." Before he could say more, Rosie came back out. She tugged at Harms pants.

"We go in fort now?" Harm squatted down to her."Let dada change his clothes and he will meet you, mama and Tommy inside."

"K; dada." Harm stood up and watched as Rosie took off into the blanket fort. A small smile spread across his face, as he thought back to another cold night when himself and his own father had made their own blanket fort. Mac glanced over at her husband. "Whatcha thinking about sailor?"

"Just a memory from my own childhood."

"A good one?"

"Yes; a very good, one that now as father I'm getting with my own 2." Turning to look at Mac, "one that I owe to you.I love you more than you know. I'm just sorry it took me so long to get my head out of my six."

"It's okay sailor; just don't put it there again." Mac smiled as she got down on the floor and crawled into the blanket fort, she glanced back over her shoulder."You and Tommy need to hurry up squid asses up, us Marines are waiting for you."

"Aye; Aye Ma'am." Harm darted off and made his way up to the bedroom; changed and picked up Tommy along with his blankets. "Alright son;now I get my own father son memory with you in a blanket fort.
