Lari Magicfeather- Your review made me so happy! Thanks for the kind words and I actually just read the first chapter of your new short story so I am really looking forward to where that goes!
IDK-Thanks for the review!
Guest—I agree they might have been closer, but I feel Arya wouldn't have told him for quite a long time, if ever. To her it was something so personal and traumatic she would have trouble telling anyone of it, even Eragon. I also think that the way Eragon experienced it impacted him more than if he was simply told. Thanks for the review!
Warning: adult themes present for this chapter
Hope everyone enjoys!
Eragon awoke feeling well rested. For the first time in days he had experienced no nightmares. Sun shone through the window and illuminated Arya who still slept next to him. She lay on her side facing toward him and Eragon couldn't help admiring how relaxed she looked. Her face held a faint smile and her arms had wrapped softly around his neck while she slept.
"I could wake up like this every day" He thought as he studied her
He watched her, savoring a few moments of peace before Saphira spoke to him for the first time today
"Little one, I hate to interrupt your…..private moments… But Blodhgarm is waiting for you in the council chambers. He says the meeting is to start soon"
Eragon felt his face flush slightly at her words
"Inform him I will arrive shortly, and nothing happened as you well know!" Eragon said slightly defensively
"I am only teasing Eragon, I am happy you and Arya have become mates. You both deserve to be happy"
Eragon could sense her happiness but also sensed a small amount of concern that she tried to hide from him. He decided not to mention it and instead corrected his dragon
"We are not mates, at least not officially."
Saphira made a small laughing sound
"You are mates in all but name"
Eragon decided not to argue although he made a mental note to speak to Arya of this sometime soon. This was the first time Eragon could not sense her anger at him when she spoke. He hoped she had moved on as he had.
"Can we fly later?" He asked as she began to withdraw slightly
"We may" was her quick reply as her voice faded from his mind
Eragon refocused his energy on untangling himself from Arya. He did his best to avoid waking her but the second he began to pull free Arya returned to consciousness.
Her eyes slowly opened and locked onto his. She gave him a small smile before he pulled himself up. Eragon wasn't quite sure what to say and only asked
"Did you sleep well?"
Arya nodded as she stood up and waited patiently at the foot of her bed
"I slept quite well, much better than I have in quite some time" She admitted
She waited for a few more moments and Eragon wasn't quite sure what she was waiting for.
Finally, she spoke
"Eragon, I normally change after waking and I would prefer some privacy" She said kindly
Feeling slightly embarrassed, Eragon spoke
"Of course, Arya Svit-Kona"
Arya smiled at the title as Eragon exited the room
Eragon didn't see much of Arya over the next few days. He was much to busy trying to heal relationships and friendships while she was preparing for her return to Ellesmera. He was making progress, but it was slow and tedious work that required large amounts of self-control. Eragon began to look forward to the nights when things were quiet and Eragon could spend time with Arya. The first night after they had spoken Eragon had tried to sleep alone in his bed, but he struggled to find sleep. When he finally did fall asleep it was short and filled with vivid nightmares once again. He had awoken sweating and shaking to Arya standing over him. She looked as though she hadn't slept either and by unspoken consent Arya climbed under the covers and within several minutes they had both fallen into a dreamless sleep.
Since that night, a routine was established and every night after dinner, they would retire to either one of their rooms before speaking briefly and falling asleep. It was an odd arrangement as they rarely saw each other during the day but Eragon greatly enjoyed it regardless. They connected their minds as they slept and enjoyed lengthy conversations while their physical body rested. Each person could sense the other person's emotions and could wake them if their thoughts turned dark. It was an effective system, but even as they spoke, they were still subject to their dreams, both good and bad. Several times Eragon's dreams had revolved around Arya in embarrassing ways, ways he would have never divulged to her otherwise. Eragon was thankful their minds remained partly separate whenever this happened. She thankfully couldn't see any of his dreams, she could only feel his emotions, although she could surely guess what was happening in the dream
Arya had been unperturbed and when Eragon apologized she waved him off
"They are dreams Eragon, you cannot control them anymore than you can the weather"
Despite this Arya teased him about them good-naturedly and Eragon thought she rather enjoyed it when he had these dreams even if she never said so
The days passed quickly, far too quickly than Eragon would have liked and soon Eragon awoke in Arya's bed on the day before she planned to leave. To his disappointment the bed next to him was already empty. He didn't need to look far to find Arya as she stood on the balcony overlooking the city. Eragon walked over and stood next to her. Arya smiled as he approached but her eyes never left the horizon.
Eragon gave her a short tap on the shoulder and spoke
"Something on your mind,Shadeslayer?" He said teasing slightly
Arya smiled although it didn't reach her eyes. She spoke softly when she replied
"I am not one to dwell on negative emotions, but I cannot help but wonder how long it will be until I see this place again." She laughed to herself softly
"How ironic that I have barely spent any time here and yet it feels more like home than Ellesmera ever did"
"Surely it won't be that long until you return?" Eragon asked surprised
Arya smiled at him
"You know as well as I do it will take time to overthrow Dathedr and elect a new ruler. The elves never do anything hastily, especially electing leaders. I could be back here in a year or fifty. There is no way to know"
Eragon hated to admit that she was right, but she was
"Let us not speak of your departure just yet."
Eragon suddenly heard Saphira speak to him
"The council is ready"
Eragon sighed in a frustrated way
"I must go" He said to Arya "I will be back by mid afternoon and we will be able to spend the last of the day together."
Arya smiled sadly but nodded
"I will see you then"
The council ran late as it always did.
Eragon hurried to his room to change and as he stepped out to find Arya, he heard Saphira speak from above him.
"She is coming up the street now, little one"
Eragon looked and sure enough a familiar black-haired figure made her way toward him.
When she finally got within earshot, she spoke
"Your late!" she said with a small laugh
"From the looks of it, so are you" Eragon replied with a grin
She seemed in a better mood than she had been in that morning and Eragon asked about it
"Where have you been?" He asked curiously
Arya looked at him and her eyes glinted in the sunlight
"I was with the Eldunari. I wished to apologize for my role in Glaedr's death"
Eragon started to say
"You aren't to blame-" But Arya cut him off
"It was my fault I was poisoned, I feel partially responsible, even if you do not agree with my feelings. Can we not speak of such things at the present moment?"
Eragon still disagreed but nodded all the same. She took his hand as they walked the streets which surprised him, No one knew (Although he knew several suspected) of their relationship and such an open display of affection slightly shocked him.
Eragon spoke again
"What did the dragons say?"
Arya's eyes grew far away as she replied
"They didn't say much…. But some of the things they showed me… amazing…." She trailed off and Eragon laughed. It was rare for her to be at a loss for words, but he understood what she meant.
"Yes, they have a unique way of viewing the world don't they" He said with a smile
"Indeed" was her only reply
They walked for awhile as they talked and enjoyed each other's company. When the dinner bell rang in the evening they made there way to the dinning hall and ate like normal.
Once dinner ended Eragon truly felt that the day was over and dread overtook him as he remembered in a few short hours she would be gone but Arya clearly had other ideas. She waved her finger is a "Follow me" motion and Eragon was shook out of his momentary haze.
Eragon and Arya walked hand and hand through the streets as night settled. As they turned onto a familiar forest path, Eragon suddenly knew where they were going.
They entered the clearing together and Eragon realized he had lost track of the day. The forest was alive as a full moon beamed down into the clearing creating a perfect reflection upon the water below. The scene looked almost identical to the first time he had brought Arya here except at the center of the meadow stood the large, flat- backed rock that Arya had nearly died upon.
Eragon glowered at the rock and with a quick spell the rock sank back into the ground until only the very top of the rock lay upon the meadow. Arya said nothing to his use of magic and led him to the edge of the water where single blanket was laid out upon the soft grass. They both sat and observed the beauty around them. Waterfalls sprayed mist in the distance and fireflies buzzed around in the dark. They laid back and Eragon put his arm around Arya as they lay staring at the sky. They stayed quiet for some time as they observed the constellations.
Eragon finally spoke
"Will anyone be joining you on your journey?"
Arya nodded
"Kayla has agreed to join me, if you will allow it"
Eragon was surprised at this
"Of course, I will allow it, but why bring Kayla? I thought you didn't trust her?"
Arya regarded him with a faint smile
"We have a rocky relationship, that is true, but I do trust her. She is the one elf I am certain is not sided with Dathedr."
Arya kissed Eragon softly and when they pulled away Eragon nodded and didn't push the subject. He was honestly glad Kayla was going with Arya, one more person to watch her back.
This reminded Eragon to ask Arya a question that he had been wondering for two weeks
He breathed deeply, surprised he was nervous even though he had no reason to be.
"Arya, what exactly are we?"
Arya looked at him with a knowing smile
"You are going to need to specify your question Shadeslayer, it has many answers"
Eragon couldn't help but laugh at this and he felt his nerves slip away
"I mean our relationship, what do I refer to you as?"
"You are my mate" Arya stated confidently
"and I am yours, unless of course you would prefer human customs in this matter?" She asked questioningly
Eragon shook his head quickly as a large smile spread across his face and he saw her face match his
Eragon leaned in and kissed her passionately and Eragon heard her gasp slightly at the intensity before he pulled away.
Her expression told him she was unhappy with the shortness of the kiss; He could see the fire as he looked into her emerald eyes and he asked his next question
"I am afraid my knowledge of this topic limited, is there something I need to do to make this official?" He asked curiously
Arya nodded and even in the dark Eragon could see her face blush slightly
"In elven culture there are three ways mates can verify their relationship, the first is a simple public declaration that two elves intend to be mates. The second is for the elves to commit themselves in a more physical way. Making love."
Eragon grew slightly red at this but didn't comment
"The third was is the rarest and seldom used. Only the very closest mates would dare use this option, it is the ultimate act of trust."
Realization his Eragon like a ton of bricks
"Like sharing your true name?" he whispered
She nodded at him with a faint smile
"You are technically my mate, by elven standards as well as our own."
A rush of emotions flowed through Eragon at these words. He had never felt so light and carefree as he smiled at her and pulled her closer so her shoulder rubbed against his. The contact sent electricity throughout his body and he shuddered slightly at the feeling.
Eragon leaned in and kissed her neck softly, her breath hitched at this which encouraged Eragon to continue. He kissed his way up to her ear and nibbled on it softly as a gasp escaped Arya and Eragon felt his own breath shorten as he pulled back and crashed their lips against each other.
This felt incredibly different than any kiss they had experienced before, it was electric and filled with passion and excitement that had been absent in prior kisses. Arya fell back some and Eragon lay over her as their tongues continued to attempt to establish dominance. Eragon broke off and quickly removed his shirt before kissing her again. His lips touched every part of exposed flesh it could find as it traced her face, then neck, then down her arms. Arya's arms traced his shoulder and wondered across his bare chest and back. Eragon gasped as her fingernails traced each part of his body. Her lips were parted as gasps escaped her with regularity.
Eragon pulled back and looked at her. He felt his desire for her continue to build as he looked upon her. Their eyes met and Eragon could see love and desire encased in her emerald orbs and knew she wanted this as much as he did.
Arya's tunic fell away and Eragon felt his eyes widen and his breath vanished as her breasts were exposed to the world and Eragon suddenly felt weak in his legs as the full weight of what they were about to do took hold of him.
Taking deep breaths, he steadied himself as much as he could and spoke softly
"Are you sure?"
To his surprise she grabbed him and flipped him over until he lay on his back and she straddled him
"I am more than sure"
Eragon's passion overtook him at that moment and he pulled her onto her back and began to trace kisses from her breasts down to her belly and to her leggings which were quickly disregarded. Eragon felt Arya's hands tighten upon his hair and her head was thrown back in a silent howl as her taste overwhelmed his senses.
Every movement he made was for her pleasure, Every nibble, scratch and touch was for her and by the constant gasping coming from her lips, he was succeeding.
Eragon pulled the last of his clothing off as he withdrew, and their lips met again in a fiery passion as they prepared for the ultimate act of love.
Eragon felt Arya's mind envelop his and, in that moment, they became one, in both body and mind. Every thought, emotion, and feeling, of the other was exposed to them as they blurred the lines of individuality. Eragon was lost in Arya's eyes as they became one being and Eragon knew that he would never love another.
Their rhythmic dance continued as Eragon moved against her which elicited groans from both of them. Eragon lost track of time as all he could feel was her against him and his mind against her own
Arya rolled her hips with his and a groan escaped him as pleasure shot through him. A sense of rightness settled over both of them as their intimate dance grew in intensity and their pleasure grew to a peak. Eragon felt the world could have ended and they wouldn't have noticed as they were so lost in each other's devotion.
Finally, Arya cried out as a primal pleasure coursed through her body and she convulsed. The beautiful sound of her release along with her muscles tightening caused Eragon to follow and his mind was flooded with pleasure from both of their minds as their dance came to an end.
Eragon lay back, breathing heavy and sweating in the warm air. Arya lay next to him as they both caught their breath and tried to comprehend exactly what had just happened.
No words were shared, but none were necessary. A peaceful intimacy settled over them as they smiled at each other. Their love and devotion had been proven beyond any doubt and Eragon could only smile as he saw Arya's bare body snuggled next to his own, basked in moonlight, and thought to her.
"You have never looked more beautiful, My mate"
Arya's smile widened at this new title
"As do you, my mate"
Eragon smiled at this and they snuggled closer and they fell into a shared dream, hoping tomorrow would never come.
