"You could've met my parents if you walked me home," Tobio complained.
"Quiet, Stupidyama," Hinata scolded, leading his tall friend through the front door of his house. "You're staying the night. I already called my mom about it."
"What about my parents?" Tobio interrogated, balling up his fists, his shoulders shrugging in annoyance.
"My mom called them already, and they said it was fine," Hinata grumbled. Tobio felt the short boy force him to the ground by his shoulders. Tobio sat criss-crossed. "Stay here. I'm getting us some tea."
Tobio unclenched his hands. "Actually, do you have milk?"
Hinata hummed. "Probably. I'll get you some if you want."
Tobio listened as he heard the small boy shuffle away. He sat, hands in his lap. He wished he could see so he could know what the inside of Hinata's house looked like. The scent of tea wafted through the room. Tobio wondered if Hinata was actually fixing him a cup of milk, or if he just said what he said to get Tobio to stop bothering him.
"Back," Hinata's voice said. Tobio felt a cold glass get pushed into his hands. "Got your milk for you." Tobio took a sip. He was right, it was milk. "Hey, I was wondering something."
"What?" Tobio asked, taking another sip.
"Why do you have your eyes closed?"
Tobio set his milk down. "Have you ever had your eyes dilated?"
"Yeah."
"Then you know what it feels like when a light is shining. You get this headache, right?" Tobio tried to demonstrate with his hands, but he felt like it wasn't helping. "And then your eyes are all blurry, and the light is kind of blinding and stuff."
"Oh, I get it," Hinata said triumphantly. "Your quirk gives you a headache."
Tobio sighed. "I guess you can say it like that, Hinata."
"So, can I see them?"
Tobio choked on his milk. "What?"
"Your eyes," Hinata prodded. "Can I see them?"
"They don't look any different," Tobio growled. He wanted to add an "idiot" onto the end of the sentence, but he remembered their conversation from earlier.
"I know, but I wanna see them," Hinata said curiously. "Why are you being so defensive?"
Tobio winced at the reference from the field trip. "Okay, fine." He slowly pried his eyes open. His eyesight was better than before; right after overusing his quirk, he couldn't even see shapes out of the blurry colors, and the light was way too bright. Now, he can slightly make out the fuzzy, round shape of Hinata's face. He could somehow also see Hinata's brown eyes.
"Woah, your eyes are so big!" Hinata clapped his hands together.
Tobio glared at the orange beacon. "What? My eyes are normal."
"No, I mean your...uh," Hinata hesitated, trying to find the right word. "Your...black thingies. In your eyes."
"My pupils?" Tobio raised an eyebrow. "That's what happens when you get your eyes dilated." Tobio couldn't help but notice how close the small redhead was to his face. Heat started to spread across his face, but he couldn't tell if he was blushing or if he was just angry. "Don't sit so close!" Tobio shoved Hinata away.
"Gee, sorry," Hinata apologized sarcastically. He said under his breath, "Your majesty."
"What did you just call me?" Tobio's tone was borderline murderous.
"I called you 'your majesty'. That's what I heard Tsukishima call you, and I think it fits."
"Don't call me that," Tobio threatened.
"Why not-"
"I said don't," Tobio interrupted.
Hinata took a sharp breath. "Fine. Okay." Tobio watched as the orange shape retreated backwards to the wall. "I don't see what the big deal is." Tobio heard Hinata's wings ruffle.
They sat in silence for a good while. Tobio focused on his milk, occasionally taking a quick sip before feeling guilty.
"Sorry," Tobio eventually broke the silence. "I shouldn't have snapped." He waited for an answer. Nothing came. "Are you going to say anything, idiot?"
He heard a faint sound. It sounded like...snoring? The idiot fell asleep, while Tobio was dying of guilt! He stood up, carefully marching over to the snoring lump on the ground. He had to admit, the small boy did seem peaceful. Tobio sighed, sitting down next to Hinata. The redhead made a small sound which made Tobio jump. He felt a small hand on his leg, then two hands, then a tug, and finally, a head. Tobio reached down to feel Hinata's fluffy orange hair. His face flushed in surprise.
Tobio then half-smiled (the biggest smile he's ever really done). "Goodnight, Hinata." He closed his eyes and eventually fell asleep.
