"So, Minato... what did you do?" Hiruzen said as he came to them. At that time, Hashirama, Tobirama, and Sasuki arrived as well.
Minato just smiled. "It is only what could have been...but will never be. This is a Naruto that isn't consumed and surrounded by pain, hatred, and suffering. If Kushina and I hadn't died. If Shisui, and Kakashi were still here. This is a truly happy Naruto."
"How? How can you do that?" Hiruzen asked.
Minato shook his head sadly. "This won't last forever. It'll fade away. This is only for a short time, I can never truly heal his heart...but I can give him at least a glimpse of happiness. I hope that it can bring him back to you guys."
Tobirama shook his head. "Young Yondaime, you may have made a grave mistake..."
"How is that?" Sasuki said.
"He is getting a glimpse to his true happiness...how will he feel when that too is gone?" Suddenly everyone realized the implications of what Minato did. Yeah it saved them the day, and the village now...but later
"I'm sure that it will all work out...thank you, for granting Naru-kun some happiness for once. As long as I've known him, he's had to put up an act and constantly sacrifices his own happiness and safety for everyone else's." Sasuki said stepping closer to Minato.
Tobirama, the more he learned, became increasingly more worried about the results. He witnessed many Uchiha spiral down in hatred, Naruto was the most powerful he ever sensed...since Madara Uchiha. He personally wondered who would come out on top. Who would be the "good guy" that they got behind?
Minato smiled and picked Naruto up. "Let's get going. I'm sure he'll wake up soon."
The group left and were in the Hokage's office. Itachi walked in and noticed the former Kages. Shaking it off for the moment he looked at Hiruzen, "What did Naruto-kun do?"
"As far as we are aware, he utilized some Genjutsu on every enemy...that took up all his chakra though." Hiruzen said.
"I see. What made him fight for us?"
Everyone looked at Minato and explained what he'd done. They also expressed the worry of his actions. Itachi though felt that maybe it was for the best. Naruto really could use some happiness and get away from the dark for once.
"Now...why are you guys here?" Itachi finally asked.
"Orochimaru brought them back to kill me and destroy the village. Naruto-kun, cast Kotoamatsukami on them, making them on our side." Hiruzen said and got a nod from Itachi.
The next day, Naruto began to awake. He slowly opened his eyes, and took in his surroundings. Recognizing that this was the Hokage's office, he slowly sat up, before he collapsed again, Sasuki caught him and let him rest against her. This caused him to wrap his arms around her and hold her as tight as he could but it wasn't thatvtigjt due to him being really weak at the moment.
"Good morning, Naru-kun. Normally you're already back to 100% by now. Is something wrong?"
"Casting Kotoamatsukami takes a lot of chakra as it is...to use it twice in the same day and in the way I used it the second time has taken an effect on me."
"I see. This isn't like your other Genjutsus where you can use them no problem."
Naruto nodded into her shoulder. He rubbed her right thigh which was the further one and looked up towards her face. She smirked and lowered to try to kiss him but the door opened and the two turned immediately to see the intruder.
Hiruzen stood there, wondering if he interrupted something or not but didn't really get any signs. Deciding to move on he went to his desk and sat. "Morning you two."
Sasuki returned the good morning while Naruto just nodded. "What's going on with the rebuild?" She asked.
"Nothing you need to worry about. Just take care of Naruto-kun."
Sasuki nodded and took them away with a Shunshin. They appeared in their room and Naruto smiles. It had been a long time since had been in there. He looked at the pictures and just remembered everything, the good memories he had. Then it got foggy and his head hurt from that.
"What's wrong, Naru-kun?"
"I don't know, my mind feels odd. Like, something's missing."
She got nervous and didn't know how to handle it. So she pushed him onto the bed and claimed his lips with hers. It worked as he responded by wrapping his arms around her, and began to rub her back. For the first time, he roamed her body and rolled them over so that he was on top of her. His right hand rubbed the back of her thigh and up her hip, as he was going to place his hand under her shirt
Knock knock knock. "Hey, you two came back? Since when?"
Naruto pulled away and sighed. A second time today they got interrupted. He stood and stumbled towards the door. He opened it up to reveal Minato.
"Father..."
"Hello, Naruto. How do you feel?" He ruffled Naruto's hair and smiled widely.
"I think I'm good. Just worn out still."
Minato nodded, "Naruto, if you would be ok with it, I'd like to get to know you."
Nodding, Naruto glanced over to Sasuki who was sitting up and readjusting her clothes. She smiled at him and he looked back at Minato. The two began to leave and entered the living room. Minato already had tea ready and they sat comfortably on the couch.
Surprisingly, Naruto spoke to Minato with ease. It felt natural to him, the same way he could talk to Shisui and have no worries, fears, just felt right. Perhaps it was because he knew instinctively that this was his father and somebody he could trust fully. The two talked for a long time about what he liked and whatnot, the smile never once leaving Minato's face.
"So how does Sasuki come into play? I can tell that you two have a deep love for one another."
Naruto smiled, "She was always there. Sasuki-chan is fierce, hardworking, eager, a little hard headed sometimes but she is all the good that is within me on a much, much larger scale. Always by my side, even when I've messed up...she never lost faith in me."
Minato nodded and smiled warmly "I'm glad that you've found people that care for you. Happy that you've found unconditional love. You're a great Shinobi, my son...and an even better man. Yeah, you may make mistakes, but everybody does, nobody's perfect. Not even me. The difference is if you own them, and push forward...you're doing good...and Naruto, no matter what happens, I'm proud of you...and I always will be."
"I-Is something wrong father?"
"Son I'm sorry that you were shrouded in so much darkness. But your mother and I, we did what we did to protect you and the village...being Hokage, I couldn't think as a father, and had to place the village above all else..."
"I don't understand...you're talking like something is coming to an end..."
Minato smiled at him again. "I'm happy that we got to talk, it would have been nice to have gotten to raise you with your mother and cousin. Kakashi too...at least you got to know them...your life has been filled with so much loss, I feel responsible for that. If I were faster, or figured out how to counter that enemy sooner...maybe things would have turned out differently."
"Counter who? What do you mean?"
"Naruto, the night you became a Jinchuriki, a masked man claiming to be Madara Uchiha attacked us. He had an ability to phase through matter and had a Spacetime Jutsu potentially better than my own. I believe the two are Jutsu are connected, although I only had a few clashes with him. I had a choice to make, once I gained the upper hand, I could have killed him, but the Kyubi was attacking, I couldn't do both and thus, chose the village...I marked him and can sense my marker still on him, but even as an Edo Tensei, I won't be able to beat him now."
"Because you're back in a weakened state...why are you telling me now?"
"What I did won't last too long...you will revert back, but you needed to know that the masked man will try manipulating you, he wants the Kyubi and you are in the way of that." Naruto tilt his head and was confused, nothing was making sense. "You'll understand once you revert...for now Naruto, try to enjoy yourself ok?"
"S-Sure..."
Minato stood up and ruffled Naruto's hair with a smile. "The eruption that will be caused by this is necessary for you to be able to come out on top against these new enemies...it is true that I want you to be happy, as any father would...but I can't think only like that..."
Sasuki walked in and smiled at Minato who smiled back and left. She came around and rested her hand on his shoulder making him look up at her. "Let's go spar?" She smirked when he stood up and they went out back.
Something she came to learn was that a Naruto wothout all the loss and pain was entirely different than the Naruto she knew. It wasn't like he was weak but that feeling of helplessness when facing him was nonexistent. It actually felt like she truly had a good chance at winning.
"So it is true...the reason I'm so weak in comparison to him, and why his power is so unattainable is because of his hatred, that anger and sadness...the darkness in which he's lived in since we were little. It is what brought him his power and those terrifying yet beautiful eyes...without the darkness in his heart, Naruto is probably barely stronger than me..."
She continued fighting him for another twenty minutes when she ended up landing a takedown on him and got atop him. Looking in his eyes, she smirked and began to lean down.
"Ahem." someone cleared their throat and the two looked over. "I don't believe that is considered sparring anymore."
"Itachi." Naruto said and sighed. "This is awkward."
He gently pushed Sasuki off of him and placed her beside him while he stood up and faced Itachi. At that point. Itachi was now within the ring that was marked on the ground and analyzed Naruto to see his current state of mind. Seeing that he still was being under the effects of his altercation, he relaxed and smiled.
"Have you gone to see the former Kages? Your father?"
Naruto nodded. "Father came by and we talked. The others no. Why? Have I been summoned?"
"No. Just thought you'd want to. Not every day that legends are brought back."
"Oh well I think I'm good here. Why would I want to leave?"
"You don't have to." Itachi looked to Sasuki and smiled, they still didn't have a great dynamic but they were trying. "I will see you guys later."
Naruto turned to Sasuki and sighed making her laugh. "Don't like having company?"
"It just feels like we are being constantly interrupted. Why does it feel like it's been so long since we have been together?"
She thought of what to say because she didn't understand what Minato did nor how it worked. All she knew was that it took away a big portion of his memories or something...like a mental fogging in a way. Regardless, the issue was that she didn't know if telling him things would lead to him reverting.
"We've just been busy, Naru-kun. But we're together now." Taking his hand and smiling "So let's just focus on that."
The two went inside and just hung out for the day. Laziness was not a luxury the two had for quite some time. Normally they'd been on mission or training. To be doing nothing was weird, but then again, Naruto as a twelve year old has already shed more blood than most will in their entire career. He was thrown head on into a war where he single handedly won every battle in decisive manner. Killed three Kage and all the Jinchuriki himself. All at twelve...just what kind of monster would he be when he was actually in his prime?
That night, while Naruto slept, Itachi, Minato, Tobirama, and Hashirama got Sasuki and were seated in the living room. Their faces were serious and she wondered what could possibly be going on this late.
"It ends tonight."
She looked confused at Tobirama until Minato spoke with a sad tone. "My alteration of his mind wears off tonight..."
"It has been voted by the council and everyone that Uchiha Naruto is to be eliminated before he awakes...they do not trust him and see him as a threat. I believe he is too powerful for anyone to deal with, he's fallen too far into his darkness and must be dealt with before he can defend himself." Tobirama spoke seriously although he seemed to show he was ready to kill him, part of him hated that it always came to this with the Uchiha. He wished that he could have the same ideals as Hashirama, but history always showed the Uchiha to eventually become the biggest villain if they live long enough...it just so happened that Naruto made that fall at such a young age.
"N-No...you can't be serious...you want to kill Naru-kun?"
"It's the only way to keep the village...the world safe." Hiruzen said although he didn't seem to believe his own words.
She turned to Itachi but he turned away and closed his eyes. Another member of his family was going to be kill and it hurt him so much. Everyone he cared about died by his hand, or he watched as they died, and again it would happen. Sasuki hoped that he would help her defend Naruto, but all she saw was him resigning to what would happen.
Frantically trying to find something, she looked at Minato. "You really can't be agreeing to kill your son..."
"I have no choice..."
"You have no choice? You always have a choice!"
"They don't. Naruto-kun's Kotoamatsukami forced them to protect the village. To always put the village first. The village deemed Naruto-kun a threat that must be neutralized...the Edo Tensei Kages have to follow the orders of the village, regardless of their own thoughts." Itachi said with an obvious pang of regret and guilt over this.
"You'd really go and kill him?" She looked down until an angered look came across her face and she pointed an accusatory finger at him. "Ofcourse you would! You've already killed the clan! WHAT'S ONE MORE? RIGHT? THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE THINKING ISN'T!"
Itachi was shocked that she would go there but didn't show it. The ever stoic Itachi remained in place. "This is not about any personal feelings, little sister. You had the day to be with him."
"W-What?"
"The decision was made this morning. It was why I came by during your spar...I was going to tell you but decided to wait, to let you be with him one last day."
"No...you can't do this...he saved us! He fought for us!"
"And he tried to kill the Hokage! You even! He slaughtered an entire village of civilians! He is a war criminal and a traitor!" Hashirama said, speaking for the first time.
"Even if you wanted, you'd never be able to kill Naru-kun! Nobody stands a chance!"
"It's why we were sent. We can't die, we have infinite chakra." Minato said with a clear sadness, he'd need to attack his son and that was killing him.
"You're just going to become slaves to the village! Naru-kun has made you slaves if you kill him! He is the only one who can set you free!"
Their eyes widened in shock at the revelation of the effects of what Naruto did with Kotoamatsukami. To make them protect and defend the village at all costs...to side with the village in all matters and carry out any orders dutifully and loyally to the village...they would become the village's slaves once he was gone. But it didn't matter...knowing that wouldn't let them stop. The Kotoamatsukami was and is absolute. There is no resisting, no defying the orders of the Kotoamatsukami.
All they could do was carry out their orders, knowing that this was it. After the mission was done, there was no going back. No chance to ever be released. Forever bound to the village and what it wants of them. Freewill gone.
"We can't defy the village for his Genjutsu won't allow us." Minato said.
Her Mangekyo Sharingan spun to life and she glared at the four in front of her. "I won't let you!" She lowered into a stance and got ready to fight when her world went dark. "W-What is this? I-I can't see!"
"Sorry little girl, but you can't interfere. This is a GenjutsuI developed solely to combat the Uchiha..." Hashirama said surprising everyone.
"Elder Brother? You made a Jutsu specifically for the Uchiha?"
"Are you really so surprised Tobirama? I do believe them to be allies but before that, I had to protect my family. This Genjutsu makes them blind and is unbreakable, only I can dispell it."
"You're partly right. It did blind me, but there are other ways to dispel it."
"I'm sorry, but you're wrong little girl. No one has ever been able to dispel it."
"Naru-kun uses this Genjutsu..."
They froze and couldn't believe it. "H-How? This requires an absolute ton of chakra, no one can do it but me."
"Naru-kun practically is chakra!"
How could they forget that? Naruto had a seemingly endless supply of chakra and had hardly ever been close to running out. Only one instance did he ever run low and that was on his first mission to Iwa. Ofcourse, during his illness he ran out but that was different because it always ate at his chakra.
"Regardless, we can't let you be in the way, this has to be done." Hashirama said and extended an arm to which wood came out and wrapped around her. As it locked her in his grasp, it ate at her chakra.
She struggled against it, trying to break free but couldn't. Hashirama dropped the Genjutsu at this point and the all went to Naruto's room. Outside the door, they heard no sounds to say he'd awoken and could sense that someone was still inside, heartbeat slow, meaning they were most likely sleeping. They opened the door and stepped in, the bed showed someone still in it and they crept towards the bed. Sasuki was kept quiet by wood having wrapped around her mouth, otherwise, she would have woken Naruto up.
Despite that, she still was trying, but being held airborne and silenced, all she could do was watch as they loomed over his body. A tear escaped her eyes as she watched Tobirama unsheathe his sword quietly and prepare the killing blow. In a swift motion, they watched as he stabbed where Naruto's heart would have been, being an instant death. Tears continued to escape her eyes, both Minato and Itachi looked down and away.
"How interesting..." A voice spoke from around them.
"What? How?" Tobirama said and looked down to see the body fade away. "G-Genjutsu..."
"In my sleep? You really thought you'd kill me in my sleep?" Naruto appeared by the door from out of nowhere and they could see his Sharingan glowing, spinning in it's power and his amusement to all of this. He looked over at Sasuki "You know I hardly sleep, my love. So don't cry. I'm going to be setting you free shortly, so please be patient."
"How did you know?" Tobirama said, him being the only one to regain his composure after the shock.
Naruto smirked and looked at Itachi "The moment you came earlier, I was released from my mental prison." He glared at Minato "You would really make me suffer more, Father?"
"Prison? What do you mean?"
"Oh? He didn't tell you what he did to me?" Naruto smirked and cracked his neck causing everyone to tense. "It was a powerful Jutsu, one that could have been to a level of Kotoamatsukami, however with less freedom of what you could do." They were surprised and looked at Minato.
"So one time being effected by it, and already he is figuring out the full workings..." A small smile came to his face but wasn't visible. "He truly is my son. But there is probablyonly one weakness he has left, and he just gaveit away. Sasuki, is the way to control, or break him..."
"What's your plan, Naruto? Where does this end?" Hashirama asked.
"You know? I thought about some things. Somebody once said that the Shinobi world, a world where we have such a thing as victors, there is always the vanquished. Where the world has light, there are always shadows. To defend peace, war is raged. For there is love, it also breeds hate..."
"M-Madara? You can't possibly be thinking to complete his plans, Naruto!"
"Easy there, Hashirama. I control everything here. You may think that because the Edo Tensei makes your body invincible, and you have infinite chakra that you are impervious to death...you are not. I can end you all in seconds, I could force you to do my bidding. As of now, you stand before me, merely until I've decided what to do with you." He chuckled and looked back at Sasuki. "Anyways, I never said I would follow his plans, although I would already be done. Akatsuki has the last Tailed Beasts. so it makes an easy job for me."
"Then what is your goal?"
"Hashirama, peace is such a bogus goal. Peace means many different things between people, between species and ecosystems. There is no one peace, but there is a way to end wars, all wars."
"That is?"
"No more trying to stall me, Hashirama. You have been allowed to hold her long enough. It's time I get her back."
Hashirama brought Sasuki behind him and Tobirama stepped forward to be beside his brother. Minato pulled out two of his tri-pronged kunai and held them in front of him. Itachi activated his Sharingan and lowered his stance.
Sighing, Naruto frowned "So it's going to be like this, huh?"
"What? Hoped we wouldn't try?"
"No, Tobirama. I just thought that you guys would have alre-" One of the kunai that Minato held was thrown at him and was right beside his head. He was surprised a bit and his eyes widened just slightly but just as quickly returned to normal and a smirk came on his face. Itachi became worried when he saw this and was proven correct by that feeling when Naruto caught Minato by the throat in mid air and slammed him onto the ground. "I'm leagues faster than you! You can't even come close to my speed in your Edo Tensei form!"
Straining, Minato choked out "Hiraishin's instantaneous."
Nodding he chuckled "Yes, it is. But you aren't. That is the only other drawback to Hiraishin, aside from needing great reflexes and awareness...if you aren't fast enough yourself to capitalize on your instant transportation, then it is pointless."
Tobirama shot through handsigns next and unleashed a water dragon that was sent at Naruto. Throwing Minato away, he brought his hand to his mouth and blew out a torrent of flames that evaporated the water and came at Tobirama. That was surprising to him since water won against fire normally and was rare to ever lose...only ever losing when it was a high ranked Fire Jutsu, but this was the general Fireball...there was no way it should have won.
"You'll never beat Naruto-kun through Ninjutsu, Nidaime-sama." Naruto tilt his head at Itachi's words, the only one to ever truly beat him. "Power has nothing to do with beating him. All this time, I've won not by ever being stronger, he surpassed me long ago...fact is, he's actually easy to beat. All that power, all that overwhelming chakra, and yet, the simple things are what get him."
"What do you mean, Itachi-san?" Hashirama said. At this point, Naruto even got curious as to the secret to which Itachi always won.
"Simple, Naruto-kun is a powerhouse without a doubt. Everything he does is complex and no normal shinobi can ever hope to ever utilize his Jutsu. Ironically, it's the basic things that any shinobi can do that have beaten him in every turn."
"What?" Tobirama and Hashirama said in unison. While Naruto went wide eyed in realization. Itachi always used the basic counter or exploitation to anything he did and it always was effective. But it didn't explain how he won so decisively...to never lose.
Hoping to stop Itachi's explanations, he charged and spun into a kick that was blocked and he received a punch to the face. "In your haste, you open yourself up to counters. Naruto-kun, the power and darkness clouds your judgement." He kicked Naruto away and did a spinning heel kick that connected to Naruto's temple. "You are weak."
"You call me weak? Laughable!" He threw three kunai at Itachi but he countered with shuriken that deflected them before ever getting in range.
"You have become predictable..."
Everyone watched in awe at how effortless Itachi was countering Naruto. To this point, there was nothing they could do then Itachi jumps in and immediately everything changes. While Naruto was like destruction, Itachi was precise and skillfully so.
With a growl, Naruto launched into a Phoenix Flower Jutsu and multiple fireballs were sent at Itachi who jumped away. "He still hasn't gone all out. Despite how he's trying to act, he clearly doesn't want to hurt us. Maybe he isn't all gone and there's still a chance to bring him back." Itachi thought as he watched Naruto throw ten shuriken at him that all were arching differently. Rather than try blocking, he lowered himself and then rolled to his right. The attack method reminded him of when he took on the Root ANBU as a kid with Shisui. That female Captain tried to ensnare him into a trap using Shuriken with nearly invisible wire.
Just after the brief reflection, he noticed that fire shot through the wires that had been present and he mentally smirked. It really was just as it had been back then and gave away that Naruto really wasn't going for lethal blows. He knew Itachi would get away and thus led to this moment where he appeared behind Itachi via Shunshin and went to chop his neck when Itachi burst into crows.
"Naruto isn't going for the kill...why?" Tobirama thought as he watched the fight. He wasn't as fast as the two and definitely was outclassed in that department so he was trying to plan on a way to capitalize on an opportunity.
"What is going on here? He boasted his power moments ago but seems reluctant to even use it." Hashirama thought as he watched intently. "Just like Madara...Despite how many times we fought or how much he expressed how much more powerful he'd gotten...even with the Kyubi...he could never bring himself to ever try killing me for real. I couldn't ever either...until I had what he didn't anymore...family." He glanced towards Sasuki and smiled "So long as she lives, there will always be good in his heart. Madara, I was that light for you...wasn't I? My bestfriend, you were like a brother to me, and through Naruto, I now see that you felt the same way.""My Son...the way of the Uchiha is dark because we become stronger through our love...you can't forget that. The power overwhelms us and you are not immune to it, the worse part was it had to happen so soon for you. And that was because of my failure." Grabbing his kunai, he threw it in between Itachi and Naruto as he immediately teleported to it.
The two were charging eachother and didn't notice the kunai until there was a flash of black and revealed Minato with a Rasengan in his hand. Naruto wasn't able to stop and was completely off guard when Minato forced the Rasengan into Naruto's chest. This caused Naruto to go flying through the wall and into the hallway.
He growled in anger and pain as he stood up. He launched lightning from all around him in a ring and destroyed half of the house. "He's pissed..." Tobirama said and everyone just looked at him.
"I'm done with this." After Image Clones began running from his body and going in different directions around them.
"Shit..."
"What is it, Itachi?" Minato asked.
"This is nothing like Shisui's use...he literally can teleport between the clones." Minato was shocked but was proud of Naruto even though right now they were fighting.
"Yondaime, mark me with your Hiraishin. I will mark you with mine, we can combine the Jutsu together."
Minato nodded and did as he was told, marking Tobirama's left shoulder with Tobirama doing Minato's right shoulder. "I'm going to use my Jutsu, it doesn't travel fast enough to reach him though." Itachi said to the two.
"Don't worry, Itachi, you unleadh it, we'll make it connect." Minato said to Itachi who nodded. Minato and Tobirama began to move around and attack the clones to find the real one.
While they did that, Itachi closed his eyes and when they opened, his Mangekyo spun to life as he concentrated chakra to his right eye. "Amaterasu." he said and black flames swirled towards one of the clones. Tobirama nodded to Minato and he flashed over, making contact with the flames.
Tobirama immediately grabbed the Naruto he was by and he and Minato spoke in unison "Hiraishin Goshun Mawashi no Jutsu!" The Hiraishin markers on each of them glowed as they swapped spaces and Naruto was engulfed in the flames of Amaterasu.
Hey y'all, been a while. Been super busy. Work is getting a little more stable. Next chapter should be out this weekend.
Ey I have plans don't count Madara out yet yo. He the homie, just need to get there.
I never planned for the alteration Minato did to last long at all, it was meant to be a in the moment thing that will have consequences.
Naruto and Sasuki...I mean...it can get there not yet. After Timeskip. Some time after that it'll be in, Def not now haha.
