The Junior Champion League has had many fun duels. Everyone was really enjoying it like it was a bright sunny day, but whenever there is sunlight, a dark cloud can't be all that far behind.
"What intense and fun duels we've had so far." Nemo said. "I'm sure we're going to see more coming. Our next duel is going to be between Soto Clarion from True Duel going against Shun Kaze from LID."
"Looks like I'm up." Soto said as he got himself ready.
"Soto, wait." Zoey said. "Be very careful. This guy is dangerous."
"Zoey's right. This guy isn't like normal duelist." Yukin said. They're aware of what Shun has done and know of the danger that comes with him. Soto could be in serious danger in a duel against this guy.
"Don't worry. I'm tougher than I look." Soto said as he went on the arena with no worries.
"I still don't get it." Zoey said. "Jenny was hunting Shun down before. Now, she's acting like she and Shun are old acquaintances, almost like there was never a problem between them. On top of that, Shun was hunting people in LID. Why is he dueling for them now?"
"I don't know, but I do know that this could get ugly." Yukin said as he didn't like this one little bit. "Soto better be careful or else he could be in for a world of pain."
"What are you two talking about?" Siegrain questioned as none of the others understood. Yukin and Zoey weren't sure what to tell the others. As for Soto, he and Shun made their way over to the arena.
"Nice to meet you. I hope you can give me a challenge." Soto said, but Shun just stayed quiet. "What's wrong? Not much of a talker?"
"Oh man. That little guy has no idea what he's really in for." Seymore said as he, Jenny, and Gus believed Shun was one of them. The reason is that they had their memories rewritten to believe Shun was on their side.
"It's weird." Jenny said. "Shun's attended the academy for about a year, but I don't really know that much about him."
"Yeah. Neither do I. Oh well. What does it matter as long as he wins for LID?" Gus said. They just rolled with it as the duel was starting.
"These two are set to go, and I'm sure the rest of you are too. Time to get started as they're dueling in...Bright City!" The entire area around them changed into a city at night with bright lights and such all over the city. It sparked a little something in Shun. Renji was watching the duel himself.
"I figured this duel field would be appropriate since it's similar to your home." Renji said. "Now, let's see your true strength and see if you have what I'm looking for."
"This is more like it. Lights, mood, and more. I'm ready for a great duel. How about you?" Soto said as he was getting pumped, but Shun just remained calm and uncaring. "Hello? Anyone home?"
"I came here to duel, not to have a chat. Let's get this over with." Shun said.
"Buzzkill." Soto said, but he just went with it. "Well, since you want the fun to start, let's get started." Both of them activated their duel disks and they were set to go.
"Let's duel!" Both of them said as they begun and had 4000LP.
"I'll make the first move." Soto said as he went first. "I'll start by summoning Elegant Dancer Emil Tango to the field!" He summoned out his dancer as he came out with 1300atk points. "Next, I'm activating the continuous spell known as Eternal Music." Music started playing with Emil dancing to it, Soto as well. "Something about the night and lights just makes you want to dance, wouldn't you say?" Shun just stayed quiet. Didn't even crack a smile. "Boy, I thought Yukin didn't like dancing. Anyway, with Eternal Music, all my dancers will gain an extra 200atk points for each Elegant Dancer that's on the field." Emil's attack points rose to 1500. "On top of that, once per turn, you can't destroy one of my monsters."
"It would seem that Soto has set the stage for this little show." Nemo said as the crowd was already into it. "Let's see if Shun can keep the entertainment going."
"Entertainment? That ended a long time ago for us." Shun said.
"What are you talking about?" Soto said. "Also, I place one card facedown to end my turn."
"One day, they just showed up without warning." Shun said as he remembered destruction, horror, and devastation. "We weren't soldiers. We were easily overwhelmed. We use to duel for fun, but they showed no mercy. No one was safe and we suffered from it. The best days of dueling are long gone for us."
"Any one understand any of that?" Nathan questioned.
"He's weird." Alyssa said.
"I don't know what's going on, but Soto needs to end this duel fast." Yukin said as he doesn't like this at all.
"It's my turn!" Shun said as he drew his card. "I'll start by by summoning Battlize-Raptor: Strike Hawk!" He summoned out a silver-colored armored hawk with engines on it's wings with razor-sharp metal talons and beak. It also had 1600atk points. "Due to Strike Hawk's ability, I can add a second Strike Hawk to my hand." He drew another card, but he went for a different one in his hand. "I now activate Raptor Warning Shot! If I have at least one Battlize-Raptor on the field, this allows me to destroy one spell or trap card. I'm putting a stop to your Eternal Music." Soto's spell card was destroyed with Emil's attack points dropping to 1300.
"You hate music or something?" Soto asked.
"What I hate are those people. They attacked my home, took my friends, almost everything I know is gone. That's why I wont' stop fighting until they are stopped." Shun said. "Battlize-Raptor: Strike Hawk, attack his dancer!" His hawk flew straight at Emil and attacked without mercy as Emil was destroyed and Soto's life points dropped to 3700.
"Oh my... That was hard to watch." Nemo said as some people were a little shocked at what they just saw.
"I end my turn, for now." Shun said.
"Sounds like someone is taking life a little too seriously." Soto said. "You really need to lighten up. It's my turn. I draw!" Soto drew his card and it was his Phantom Dancer, just what he wanted. "Let me take a better stage." Soto jumped through the city until he landed at the top of a set of stairs with a spotlight on him. "I'll start by activating my trap card. I play Dancer's Comeback. This revives one Elegant Dancer from my graveyard." Emil came back on the field. "Next, I activate Polymerization! This spell card allows me to fuse monsters in my hand or on the field. I fuse together Elegant Dancer Emil with Phantom Dancer." The two of them came out as they began to fuse together. "Dancer of mystery and dancer of sensual, these two together will win this duel! I fusion summon Phantom Dancer Blackhole!" He summoned out his dancer as it appeared on the field with 2200atk points.
"What a show! That was some impressive fusion summoning as well!" Nemo said.
"Phantom Dancer Blackhole, attack his Strike Hawk with Dark Waltz!" Soto said. His dancer jumped in the air and spun around like he was dancing. He struck Strike Hawk his attack and destroyed it with Shun's life points dropping to 3400. "There's more bad news. Since Blackhole just sent a monster to the graveyard, it equips on to Blackhole and Blackhole gains 200atk points." His monster opened a black hole in his cape as Strike Hawk was pulled out of the graveyard and equipped on to him with his attack points rising to 2400.
"Good. He needs to end this duel fast." Yukin said.
"Why? What's the worst that could happen?" Eli said.
"Let's hope we don't find out." Zoey said.
"That should be enough for this turn." Soto said. "I hope you don't mind that I took your monster after I destroyed it."
"Take and destroy. That's all they ever did." Shun said. "We never did anything. They just attacked us, and we did everything we could to hold them back."
"I don't get it. Is he trying to tell us something?" Siegrain said. "Did something happen to him or something?"
"Wait. I think I know." Zoey said as she remembered what Drewsin told her about how their home was attacked and how awful all of it was. "A friend of his told me that their city was attacked. I don't know the whole story, but I don't think dueling is about fun with these guys anymore. It's about surviving."
""Surviving"?" Yukin said. This just keeps getting worse by the minute in his eyes.
"They thought they could come to our home and take everything? I'll prove them wrong!" Shun said as he drew his next card. "I activate Battlize-Raptor Callback! By sending Battlize-Raptor: Strike Hawk back to my deck, I can add a different Battliz-Raptor to my hand!" He sent one card back and took a new card. "I chose Battlize-Raptor: Jet Osprey, and I summon it!" He summoned his osprey to the field as it flew out with 1700atk points. "Thanks to it's special ability, I can summon the second one from my deck." He summoned out a second osprey to the field. "Since I have the third in my hand when the other two are on the field, I can summon it as well!" He summoned out his third osprey and he had all that he needed. "I now overlay my three level four Jet Ospreys to build the overlay network!" All three of them became energy as they gathered in a vortex. "With razor-sharp talons, this raptor takes flight to lead the rebellion! I xyz summon Battlize-Raptor: Mach Falcon!" He summoned out Mach Falcon as it flew out with 100atk points.
"That monster...!" Yukin said as he remembered seeing it and the real damage that came with it. "Oh no..." Shun jumped on Mach Falcon and was flying through the air.
"What's this? Shun xyz summoned a monster with only 100atk points? What could he be planning?" Nemo said.
"I activate Mach Falcon's special ability! I use one overlay unit so that Mach Falcon can gain all your monster's attack points!" Shun said. One overlay unit entered it's head and power transferred from Phantom Dancer Blackhole to Battlize-Raptor: Mach Falcon. It's attack points rose all the way to 2500. "Attack now with Blazing Mach Strike!" He and his falcon dived right down in a blaze of fire. It smashed into Blackhole and destroyed it with Soto being pushed back as his life points dropped to 3600. The impact caused some damage around the area as well.
"Oh no." Yukin said as he remembered what happened before.
"That damage looked a little too real." Nathan said.
"You think?" Augustus questioned.
"It was." Yukin said. "Soto, forget about winning. Just get out of there."
"I now activate Raptor's Hunt!" Shun said. "When a Battlize-Raptor destroys a monster, this spell deals an additional 1000 points of damage." His falcon flew over Soto. The force of Mach Falcon flying over Soto knocked him down on his back as his life points dropped to 2600.
"Shun's really not holding anything back." Jenny said.
"Yeah... Don't you think he's being a little too harsh?" Gus questioned.
"It's almost like he's dueling with a vendetta." Seymore said. This duel wasn't like the others. No one was finding much joy or pleasure in this one. Shun stood on his falcon as he looked down at Soto.
"I swear that I won't be defeated until my enemies suffer the way I suffer." Shun said.
"Is that so?" Soto said as he got back up. "Well, I don't see myself losing either." Soto grinned, but it wasn't from the excitement of the duel. There was something more sinister behind that smirk.
