Chapter Thirty-Four: The Pontiac Bandit Returns
"Really? This is how you want to play it?" Rosa asked Jake as he walked around the precinct dressed as Santa.
"Trust me" he said. She nodded
"Fine" She replied. Jake drove to their spot, whilst Rosa rode her bike. Watching as Jake remained vigilant.
"Any sign of our Bogie?" Jake asked his mic to talk to Rosa
"Negative. Are you sure our guy's gonna show?" She asked
"My C.I said he walked this route exactly the last 3 days" Jake said
"Fine!" Rosa said. She was cold, and irritable from sitting on her bike in December for the last 2 hours. "But in ten minutes we're calling this" She said "I have to get back to my Ecstasy task force, we have to bag a major giggle pig player soon or they're going to shut us down" She said
"God! You're bad at being Santa" Rosa said when she stopped. "Jake. Holy Crap. Nine o'clock" She said She watched as Jake completely fucked the arrest of him. Rosa watched as Judy got away. She left her Bike, knowingly she parked it under a CCTV camera, and proceeded on foot to catch him
Jake met Rosa and the pair proceded to investigate the Christmas Tree lot.
"NYPD Clear out" Rosa told the passers by She heard a scream and the tree beside her caught alight, as she found Jake.
"Doug Judy, you're under arrest" Jake said
"Put your hands in the air" She warned, gun trained on him
"Hey Rosa, Merry Christmas Girl" Doug Judy said
"Shut up" Rosa replied, as Jake shouted to the kids what happens if you're naughty.
Back at the precinct, Jake walked in, making a grand entrance. Although she would not have introduced him the way that Jake did, she played along, and waited until her cue before bringing Judy out, as the Precinct filled with applause
"Wow! You guys, thank you" Judy said
"Alright, that's enough Judy. This is my moment. You are not to enjoy it" He said
"I can't help it. I'm proud of you. You're like a son to me" Judy said, before he and Jake went on to talk about how that would work.
"Anyways, it's a shame I gotta ruin celebration by cutting a deal and getting out of here" He said
"Never! Right?" Jake asked Holt
"I'm just saying. I know a lot of high-profile felons. Makes me a very desirable tattletale" He said
"We will never cut a deal with you. Not after you screwed us last year" she said
"You don't want any info on a burglary ring, perhaps?" Judy asked
"Not good enough" Holt confirmed
"Testify, Captain" Jake approved
"How about a guy who makes fake Credit cards?" Judy asked
"Negative" Holt replied
"You see that. Judy. No matter what you say, you're going to Jail" Jake boasted
"What about drugs? Y'all ever heard of giggle pig?" Judy asked. This caught their attention
"What do you know?" Rosa asked
"We're listening" Holt replied
"No, no, no, no, no. We're not listening" Jake said Rosa had to roll her eyes at his tunnel vision. Bigger picture Jake!
"We can't hear him. Everybody shoot your guns in the air" Jake called
"Take him to an interrogation room" Holt demanded. Rosa walked off with him. Handcuffing him inside, before walking to the window room to join Jake and Holt.
"Alright, before we make a deal with this evil monster, can I just ask something. Is Giggle Pig really that important?" Jake asked
"My job, Rosa's job and the fate of this entire precinct, all depend on the outcome of this task force" Holt said
"Alright. Fine" Jake gave in
"Diaz, what's our status right now?" Holt asked
"We picked up a bunch of dealers, but out main target it Tito Ruiz, we believe he runs the entire operation, only we can't prove it because none of his people will turn on him, just because he bit off a few noses. Babies" She said
"I say the only way we can make a deal with Doug Judy, is if he can give us the top guy. Tito Ruiz" Jake said.
As it turned out, he could. Or said he could. Jake was, as usual sceptical, but Rosa was weighing up the costs against the benefits. Even if Judy got away, if she could get Ruiz, then it would be a success. She was too busy thinking, she didn't see Jake's jealous look, when Judy started crooning.
Judy then started making a deal.
"Oh. One last thing. Diaz has to be nice to me. I want her to call me, big sugar" He said
"HA! Huge mistake Bud, she will never agree to that" Jake said, almost hopeful
"No I'm in" Rosa said, taking Jake by surprise "Let's do this. Big sugar" She said
"What? Alright fine" Jake said taken aback by her attitude with Judy. "If this is going down, I wanna be on this case" Jake said "And my sole focus is Doug Judy" He said "He never leaves my sights" Jake said. If they can cut a deal, why shouldn't he?
Rosa watched as Jake fought the will to sing hard. Having to walk out. She left Holt with Judy and followed him as he put his phone down
"Booked Judy in to the hotel" He said. They got Judy and brought him to the hotel room, where Rosa tried to play nice, and Jake bit back the jealousy every time Judy hit on Rosa.
Rosa watched as Jake gave in and joined in the festivities.
Jake bit back jealousy when Judy said that Rosa could be his wife. They dressed, Jake first then when Judy walked in to get changed, Jake grabbed Rosa and pinned her against the wall
"You're mine" He growled huskily to her. That deep voice which made her swoon. "Don't you ever forget it" He added, leaning in and kissing her, they kissed until Judy walked out, where they sprung apart.
Rosa watched as Jake broke into the car. She hated how much it turned her on, when Jake broke into the car. Smiling proudly at Jake as he did it. She got in the car behind him, and slapped him on the shoulder, as they went off. And arrived at the warehouse. Jake tried to get information, but Tito was having none of it.
Jake decided to amp him up by asking for the boss. Of course, this triggered a primitive defence in Tito, which Jake and Rosa knew well enough that it would lower his defences, and make it easier for him to slip up, and in return. They got a full confession, as large BANG disturbed them.
"Is that us?" Jake asked Rosa, making sure that she was ok.
"No. We gotta go right now! Go, go, go!" she said to her mic, and the place was filled with NYPD. She jumped up, but was quickly taken out by a factory worker
"DIAZ!" Jake called. She got up and restrained the guy, telling she didn't need help and telling Jake to go on. As soon as Jake knew she was ok, he could move on without worrying about her.
Judy got away, but Jake somehow managed to find it in him to go after Tito, after Judy pointed it out
Jake realised that Tito was getting away, and he had to think. He could solve his case, one he had open for nine years and finally catch the Pontiac Bandit. Or he could get Tito for Rosa.
Once he thought about it, it was a no brainer. He would give his life for her. A perp was nothing. He ran after Tito, and arrested him.
The officers soon came by and arrested Tito. Jake found Rosa. They got in his car and drove back to the precinct.
"Are you ok? You fell pretty hard" He said
"I'm fine. Did you catch him?" She asked
"Ruiz?" He asked "Yeah" He said
"What about Judy?" She asked
"Got away" He said
"Sorry man" She said
"It was a no brainer. I'd choose you over him any day" Jake said. As they arrived back at the precinct. They spent all through the night interrogating Tito, until they got a full signed confession. They went home to sleep for. few hours then spent the next day, seizing all the drugs from the warehouse, and tracking down Ruiz' associates.
After work that day, they went to the bar after work.
"Attention please! Attention!" Holt said "I'm sorry to interrupt your holiday revelry. It truly is a fun night. I would like to propose a toast to Detective Diaz, and her task force who successfully brought down Tito Ruiz, and his entire Giggle Pig Network" Holt congratulated
"Great work everyone. Drink up!" She said. She received congratulations from many people, but only cared about one. She walked over to the bar, and met Jake sat down.
"Hey. So, I checked again. Doug Judy still hasn't surfaced." She said
"Yeah, he has" Jake said showing her his laptop "He just sent me this" He added
"Son of a bitch!" Rosa said
"Yeah. And when he ordered the Lobster, it was a code for Kyle to follow him.
"Hey. First things first, I SWEAR to you, we are going to catch Doug Judy" She said
"Yeah, I know" Jake said "We did it once, we can do it again" He added
"No. We WILL Catch him" she said "More importantly, thank you" She said "I know how hard that was to make that choice and let him get away" She said
"No. It was an easy call. I know how much this task force means to you" He said
"It means so much it's been so stressful, and it went so well" She said, not able to hold back the side of her which only Jake saw. He smiled at her "Seriously look at me I cannot stop smiling. How do people do this with their faces" She asked. Jake placed a hand on her thigh.
"Hey, wanna sneak to the coat closet?" He asked
"Sure" She replied. They managed to sneak over without anyone seeing, and what started with making out, ended in hot passionate sex.
