Chapter 34 – The Final Battle
"What a shock, Bakugo made it to the final battle" Mika deadpanned as she watched the blond stride up to the pitch.
"You should have seen him fight Tokoyami, it was intense" Kaminari called over to her from a few seats across.
"He is an incredibly skilled opponent" Tokoyami verbally agreed and smiled warily at Mika.
Mika let her eyes drift back down to where Todoroki was stepping up onto the pitch and over the white line. She wasn't sure how this was all going to go down. By the sounds of what her classmates were saying, Todoroki had a pretty quick battle with Iida. They mentioned that he didn't use his fire once again after everything that had happened in the battle between him and Izuku. Bakugo was fierce, and the way in which he was constantly adapting in battle against his opponent meant that Todoroki was going to have to be bold and unpredictable. He needed to use his fire for sure.
Mika was pretty certain that she knew who was going to win.
"NOW, START!" Came her brother's shout.
There was an immediate explosion of freezing cold air once again. A wave of ice spiked out form half and half's hand, completely swallowing Bakugo up and coming once more into close contact with the audience in the opposite end of the arena this time to where Class 1A were.
It didn't take long before the sound of muffled explosions met everyone's ears and in the next few seconds Bakugo had exploded his way out of the ice tower he had been buried within. Mika knew that Todoroki's move would have only of pissed him off more. Bakugo was all for a good fight, but that was just a safe tactic for Todoroki and that is just not a good fight.
Bakugo wasted no time launching himself towards Todoroki and flipping himself up and over him in an attempt to avoid the next ice onslaught. Bakugo was always one for precision and so Mika watched with unwilling awe as he pirouetted in the air to reach and grab at Todoroki. Mika felt a grin spread over her face as Bakugo used his momentum to basically throw Todoroki like a Frisbee towards the white line.
No matter how hard I might want to say otherwise, Bakugo really is a force to be reckoned with and his skill is absolutely amazing. If only I had made it to the final…
"Todoroki is going to have to step up and use his fire side if he wants to beat Sunshine… if he carries on like this it will be over before he knows it" Mika reasoned out loud, Izuku turning to her and nodding his head fervently.
"He avoids a ring-out with a wall of ice! HOW THRILLING!" Her Brother shouted over the speakers, the crowd going absolutely mad with it.
They all watched with rapt attention as Bakugo leapt in a few times to try and bring the fight to close combat only for Todoroki to lash out with his ice to avoid it.
Oh man, he really won't use his fire… how lame.
"I ain't good enough for that?" Bakugo shouted and the whole arena must have been able to hear it.
"Oh he looks furious…" Kirishima gulped from a few seats down.
"I don't blame him actually!" Mika snorted half to herself.
"You'll regret making a fool of me… I'll freaking kill you, I'm taking the first to end all firsts!" He shouted, his eyes on fire with determination. Todoroki got to his feet and Bakugo dropped once more into a stance, ready for anything. "There's no point in winning against some half-assed punk! No point if I can't do better than Deku, so if you're not trying to win, get the hell outta my face!"
Mika felt Izuku tense at his name being shouted across the arena like that, she looked across and could see confliction in his face. He was worried that much was for certain, but there was something else there too. Are you disappointed Izuku-kun?
"WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE, YOU BASTARD?!"
Mika whipped her head back around in time to see Bakugo launch a new assault against Todoroki, he pushed off into the air before him, using his explosions to arch almost gracefully through the air before whirling down in his fiery tornado like move.
"DON'T LOSE, COME ON!" Izuku exploded beside her making her flinch then wince at the sensation in her hands. The whole of Class 1A was now looking to their friend with confusion and shock at his input.
That was the moment that flames spread from Todoroki's left side, his eyes burning and his concentration kicking in. Then everything detonated into a ball of fire, dust and light. The sound was almost like a sonic boom. The whole stadium fell silent as the boom echoed around the it and then fell to silence. The only sound being the fizz of heat left over in the air and shocked gasps of every spectator.
"I can't see… what's going on!" Mina called out as Mika stood up to try and peer through the smoke as it cleared.
"Holy shi…"
"No way!" Uraraka gulped with her hands slapping to her mouth.
Todoroki was out. Out of the boundary but also out of consciousness by the looks of it. He was splayed out across the rubble of his previous ice tower metres over the white line. Bakugo was also splayed out on the floor within the boundary. Everyone watched as the spikey haired blonde got to his feet and wobbled over to Todoroki, the camera's scrambling to get over to him to zoom in. Mika let her eyes flash from the scene to the screens to watch.
Bakugo…
"Stop messing around!" He shouted, as he attempted to grab at Todoroki's shirt. "NOT LIKE THIS"
That was when Midnight vaulted over the rubble and pulled off her gloves and let her quirk knock him out. He fell limp and fast asleep to the floor before her. Mika had to remind herself to breath as she watched. Even if she didn't want to admit it, there was such a huge amount of her that was completely heartbroken for Bakugo. He had worked his arse off, he had fought with everything that he had every step of the way. He would have watched Todoroki use his flames against Izuku and know that they were powerful and then he would have faced him expecting to have the fight of his life. He wants to be a hero so bad, and he wants to be the best to show everyone that ever doubted he had the right intentions that he was the best of the best and therefore good, but Todoroki wouldn't even try his best in return.
It was painful to watch and Mika felt herself sighing as Midnight announced Bakugo's win.
"Bakugo?" Mika shouted through the door, half to warn him she was about to enter, and half to break the tension she felt by searching him out with Kirishima. Both of them had immediately jumped up from their seats to try and wind through the corridors to find him.
"He has to be in this room, the rest are all empty" Kirishima reasoned and she nodded to him with a sigh.
She opened the door with her elbow after a few seconds of trying and both her and Eijiro froze. She was not expecting what she saw and she almost felt the need to just turn on her heel and walk away again.
There with Bakugo in the waiting room were three of the pro-hero sensei's and a chained and gagged Bakugo.
"What the hell?"
"Ahh Yamada-san, Kirishima-san…" Cementos-Sensei sighed he spotted her entrance. "We shall leave you both with Young Bakugo for a few minutes to help calm him down."
"Ngghhggghhhhh!" The fuming explosive teen mumble shouted in response.
All three teachers left the room with a rush that she thought was probably born from the intense glare they were receiving from their classmate and then it was just them three.
"Dude…" Eijiro started, but then cut himself off as Bakugo mumbled something else into his mouth guard and Mika could not understand one bit of it.
Is all that really necessary, for god sake…
She moved over to sit across from him, and he eyed her like she was prey moving closer.
"That was shit of him to fight like that" Mika started.
"Whoa, Mika…" Kirishima gasped, not realising that she would sympathise with Bakugo so easily.
"No really, who does that… watch everyone else fight with everything they have and then dishonour their efforts" She bit out. "He better have a bloody good reason, or maybe it's a concussion from that fight with Izuku-kun…" She trailed off.
"Nghhhgnnnn"
"What?" Kirishima gulped as he too sat down next to Mika.
"Hgnnnnnnnggggngng" Bakugo tried, but louder and more drawn out.
Mika rolled her eyes and stood herself up and moved around to behind Bakugo and lifted her elbow up to the strap to see if she could push it to slip it down over the back of his head so the mouth guard would drop.
"What are you doing?" Eijiro warned her more than asked.
"I am taking this off, he's not an animal…" She leaned over Bakugo's shoulder raised her eyebrows at him. "Don't bite me ok, I'm not into it!"
Bakugo merely rolled his eyes and grunted at her as she worked on the straps on the back of his head and pushing with her elbow till it slid off and down around his neck. "There, better?"
"I am going to kill him" Bakugo hissed through his teeth as Mika moved to sit back down opposite him.
"I'm sorry it ended like that, Sunshine" She shrugged to him, feeling her ribbon slip a little out of the bun Mina tied it into.
"I just don't get it, why didn't he use it?" Kirishima piped up.
"Daddy issues I think" Mika reasoned.
"I don't care about the reason, what a waste of space!" Bakugo fumed as he shifted in his seat to try and pull at the chains.
"Maybe he will quit?" She thought out loud as the ribbon completely fell out onto the floor and her hair fell around her face. From just the wild nature of her hair it had been slowly falling off ever since Mina put it in, so it was only a matter of time before it happened. All the movement from trying to get the strap off Bakugo's head had just sped the process up. She was really missing her hands. "… damn it"
"Need some help with that?" Eijiro asked as he leaned round to grab her ribbon from the floor.
"Do you mind?" She sighed, as she eyed her bandaged hands.
"That's a pretty decent advantage you gave Tokoyami" Bakugo deadpanned at her.
She flashed a glare at him as she tried to stay still for Kirishima. He was pulling at her hair to try his best to get it all in the ribbon and she knew if she moved it would not help.
"Don't even go there" She warned.
"Was hoping we would get to go head-to-head but… makes sense that the weak wouldn't make it that far…" His eyes were flashing at her and for once she could tell that to him it was good natured so she didn't bite as hard as she wanted to. You are here to check up on him, not start a fight and make it worse…
"Piss off Sunshine" She snorted.
