Chapter 34 A breath of Fresh Air
Its been a week since Sean and Korra moved back to Republic City with Junior.
And like they predicted Raiko was causing problems for them since he blamed them both for his problems since his Approval Ratings were at Zero percent.
But they mostly just ignored him or Sean beat him up pretty good to make him leave them alone.
And of course there was the additional problems Raiko was facing.
After Miraak attacked Republic City Spirit Vines had swarmed certain areas within the city like Raiko's office much to his anger and everyone else's amusement.
But for now Sean and Korra were in their home sleeping with Junior in between them as usual before Korra woke up seeing her son between them making her smile before holding him close as he yawned in his sleep.
"Morning." Sean said waking up.
"Morning." Korra said kissing him as Junior woke up and giggled making them smile.
Soon enough the two were dressed and down stairs as Korra fed her son.
"It feels good to be back home after seven months." Korra said.
"I know. The only problem we both have is Raiko. I knew from the beginning that guy was gonna be nothing but trouble." Sean said.
"I know. And I still can't believe he's having a statue made for himself as if he deserves one." Korra said as Junior cooed making her smile.
"Talk about Ego." Sean said.
"Anyway I'm gonna check in on Air Temple island." Korra said picking Junior up who yawned making her smile.
"Yeah I gotta head to the former resident district and see if I can clear out the vines." Sean said.
"Why bother? Your dad is building a new district for those who lost their homes during Miraak's attack." Korra said.
"True...But Raiko will keep bugging us if we don't try so might as well give it a shot." Sean said kissing her.
"Well, be careful. Who knows whats out there." Korra said.
"Oh like what? A resurrected Amon?" Sean asked making her slap his chest making Junior giggle. "I'll be fine." Sean said kissing her as he left.
Meanwhile
Bumi was chasing his Spirit friend before climbing a tree.
"If you don't wanna wear the sweater I made you, Thats fine. I'm sorry I got mad." Bumi said climbing towards but he flew away. "I'm running out of tree here." Bumi said before it began to break.
"Oh shit." Bumi said before it broke making him scream wailing his arms around like crazy before he shockingly airbended.
"What? I'm airbending!" Bumi yelled before crashing down. "Ow. That still hurt like hell."
Meanwhile
Sean, Tenzin, Turok and Jinora walked through an abandoned district with a few Spirits following them.
"Now how do we clear all this crap?" Sean asked before his back started glowing before unleashing blue fire at the vines burning them but they came back.
"That didn't work." Turok said before turning into a lion and cut some of them apart but they grew back as well.
"Fuck it! This is absolute bullshit! I'm just gonna let my dad continue with the construction plan." Sean said.
"Raiko is desperate to restore his reputation after his attempts to take all the credit for defeating Vaatu." Tenzin said.
"Yeah and he's a fucking moron. I gotta go tell the press the construction plan continues." Sean said using a glider to fly away.
Meanwhile Raiko was talking with the press about the vine situation and the Press were eating him alive.
"President Raiko are you concerned that your approval ratings are at Zero percent while the Avatars are at 99%?" This made Raiko growl in anger.
"Are you concerned about the rumors about the UN kicking you out of office after you tried to take full credit for the attack to stop Unalaq?"
"Will you support the construction project led by Atlas?"
"How can people be so calm about all this nonsense? Theres a tree on my office!" Raiko yelled making people boo him which royally pissed him off.
Thats when Sean arrived and landed creating a gust of wind that blew into Raiko's face knocking his glasses off.
"Avatar Kruger? Will you and your Wife and the other Avatars support the construction project?"
"Yes without question. I know a lot of people were forced to leave their homes and businesses but rest assured that we will help get them back in time." Sean said making the crowd cheer while Raiko glared seeing he was getting the approval that should be his in his mind.
"You and your Wife have put us all..." Raiko tried to say.
"Shut up and go sit in the corner as the adults talk." Sean said making people laugh while he fumed. "I know people are...Somewhat scared by this change. But change can be a good thing. We've long since be disconnected from the spirits. Now we can rebuild that connection. But it takes time." Sean said getting an applause.
"Absurd. Your wife should have closed that portal when this whole thing was finished! Tell her to close it up and get these...Abominations out of my city!" Raiko said getting people to boo him which pissed him off.
"Like I'm gonna listen to the guy who wanted to take full credit in an operation that involved the entire world and no one took credit for doing their job unlike you. Proving you are the worst president in all of history." Sean said.
"Keep talking and I'll take your son away from both of you and put him in Foster Care." Raiko said before Sean punched him in the face before kicking him down hard.
"Care to repeat that?" Sean asked glaring at him.
"Thats enough." Lin said as Raiko stomped away.
"How are the police handling things?" Sean asked.
"Fine for now. Wish Mako would reconsider joining us again." Lin said.
"From what I hear from Hudson he's doing a better job there than he did here. And you all kinda turned your backs on him for putting him away so quickly without considering his evidence and those two idiots who I heard got killed for trying to work with one fo the remaining gangs last month." Sean said. (Like I was gonna let them live any longer than they should)
"I knew I never should have let them in the force. Now every case they worked on is being reopened and it turns out they were accepting bribes to put innocent people away." Lin said. (I would not be surprised)
Later
Korra and the others were at Air temple island enjoying a nice meal while Bumi was trying to airbend. He said he could earlier but nothing was happening.
Thats when Sean walked in.
"Hey honey." Korra said as he sat down and kissed her.
"What the hell is he doing?" Sean asked about Bumi.
"He says he Airbended earlier. Probably another one of his jokes." Korra said giggling.
"I gotta say, I love being a part of this family. You got the grumpy dad, the wacky uncle. The put-Upon mom, Crazy kids. This is great." Bolin said making them chuckle in amusement. (I found this very amusing)
"Where the hell is Mako?" Sean asked not seeing him.
"He's staying at the CIA office in the city." Bolin said.
"Why am I not surprised?" Sean asked.
"So how did things go?" Korra asked.
"Welp...I think Raiko can kiss his reelection goodbye." Sean said making her giggle as did Junior.
"Did you see that? I think the napkin moved." Bumi said.
"You blew on it." Kya said annoyed.
"Maybe I can only do it when my life is in danger." Bumi said.
"Did your mom Drop you as a baby?" Sean asked making Korra hit him in the head.
"Don't talk bad about her." Korra said.
"I'm just kidding." Sean said rubbing his head as Junior laughed making him roll his eyes.
"I very much doubt he's actually an airbender if he can only now do it." Reznov said before Meelo threw a plate at Bumi making him yelp before waving his hands around before he actually airbent it.
"I TOLD YOU!" Bumi yelled as everyone was beyond shocked.
"Whoa." Sean said amazed.
"Unbelievable. Your actually an Airbender." Tenzin said.
"Wait until I tell mom! She's gonna love this!" Bumi said before the plate dropped and broke. "Sorry." Bumi said.
Later
Bumi was trying to airbend again but nothing was happening.
"Why can't I figure this out!" Bumi asked.
"Do you think being in the spirit world during harmonic convergence could've given him bending?" Korra asked Sean who held Junior.
"No...Thats not it." Sean said scratching his head.
"Maybe uncle Bumi is just a late bloomer." Ikki said.
"There is no such thing as a late bloomer when it comes to bending. Either you have it or don't." Sean said.
"I have been noticing a change in your aura lately." Kya said.
"And you didn't tell me?" Bumi asked making her annoyed before Lin walked to them.
"Invisible spirit monster attack?" Lin asked.
"Not even close." Sean said.
"You won't believe this. Bumi just started airbending." Tenzin said making her widen her eyes.
"He's not the only one." Lin said.
"What do you mean by that?" Korra asked.
"Last night some of my officers were investigating a disturbance at a shop. Turns out the owner's brother started airbending. He got away but they could see he was actually airbending." Lin said.
"He ain't the only one." Hudson said walking to them with Adler and Mako.
"What do you mean?" Sean asked.
"We're getting reports all over the world about people using the elements including Airbenders. The whole world is filled with Benders now." Adler said.
"How is that possible?" Tenzin asked.
"Hmm." Sean said in thought.
"What is it?" Hudson asked.
"Well this is just a theory but it might make a lot of sense. During the convergence a lot of energy was released. It's possible this time around because so many people from all over the world was there to stop Unalaq and brought those energies outside the four nations. Which in turn spread all over the world and now we got new benders of every element." Sean said.
"It does sound possible." Tenzin said. (It does make sense when you think about it)
"Either way we need to make sure no one misuses those abilities." Adler said.
"I agree. As for the airbender who's on the run we'll have to track him down." Sean said.
"I'll get right on that." Mako said.
Later
"Can you actually believe it? New Airbenders after over a hundred years." Korra said excited.
"I know. Still we do need to make sure no one misuses those gifts like the gangs that are left in the city. Otherwise that peasant will try even harder to restart the movement." Sean said.
"True. Do you think Junior might be a bender actually?" Korra asked looking at her son who slept on the couch making her smile.
"I'm pretty sure he's taken after you in more ways than your eyes." Sean said making her giggle hoping he was a water bender so she could teach him.
Thats when someone knocked on the door before Sean answered it seeing his brother Will.
"Hey Will. Find our airbender?" Sean asked.
"Nah. Raiko is about to reveal his statue and wants everyone there including you two." Will said making Korra sigh before she went to get Junior dressed before the two smirked.
"Did you and Turok do what I asked?" Sean asked making him snicker.
"Oh big time. This will REALLY mark him down in the history books." Will said making them both laugh.
"What are you two laughing about?" Korra asked walking down with Junior in proper clothes.
"Oh nothing just telling old jokes. Come on let's go." Sean said
Soon enough everyone was at the docks while Sean stood with his wife and son.
"Now I would like everyone to be honored to witness the statue of your very first president." Raiko said pulling the tarp off before everyone widened their eyes...And burst out laughing.
"Oh my god!" Korra laughed as Junior laughed like crazy which confused Raiko.
"Why is is everyone...AHHHHH!" Raiko screamed in horror seeing his statue had a dress on it and had makeup on the face with red lipstick on his lips.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Turok roared in laughed as he fell on his back while Jinora was holding her sides.
Even Tenzin couldn't stop himself from chuckling.
"AHHH! Get this off!" Raiko yelled pulling the dress off only for people to laugh even harder.
Why you ask?
"AHHH! UNDERGARMENTS!" Raiko yelled in horror seeing his statue with a bra and thong. (If no one can figure out where this came from I'm severely disappointed since it's from Nickelodeon as well)
"AHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Sean laughed holding his wife close who was holding her side as she laughed hard while Junior was giggling.
"WHO DID IT!" Raiko roared in rage.
"Maybe it's one of the million people who hate you for your selfishness." David said holding his Fiancé close who was holding her mouth to keep her laughs down.
"I'm not gonna ask again!" Raiko yelled.
"Maybe the spirits did it. You don't like them and they don't like you." Sean said making Korra laugh behind her hand.
"You did this didn't you!" Raiko yelled.
"Mmm. No." Sean said.
"Wish we did though." Korra said.
Raiko was about to say more when Will pulled a detonator behind his back before pressing it and the statue blew up into a million pieces.
"AHHHHH!" Raiko roared in horror while everyone else laughed.
"Ok shows over." Lin said as everyone left.
Later
"So thats why you and Will laughed when I got down." Korra said laughing like crazy.
"Yup. When Achmed brought up blowing him up it made me think of the statue and I realized. Hey! I can make him suffer with some extras." Sean said making her laugh harder.
"Oh honey that was beautiful." Korra said kissing him.
"I know." Sean said as they sat on the porch watching the sun go down.
"Things finally look peaceful for a long time now." Korra said.
"Yeah...Most of the worst in this world are dead. The world is coming back together like they did when my father was alive." Sean said.
"What is it?" Korra asked seeing the look on his face.
"I think the time is fast approaching that one day the world can solve its own problems again and people like us can enjoy the simple life." Sean said looking at Junior who slept in his mother's arms making her smile.
"If thats the case...Will you be staying home more?" Korra asked.
"I think so. I'll still be working at Atlas to make new technology...But I would be home more often." Sean said making her smile as she held him close.
"I would love that." Korra said as Junior yawned making them smile. "I know I said we would wait a while before we had more kids...But maybe once he turns a year old we can try for another." Korra said.
"Whatever you want Korra." Sean said kissing her making her smile.
Thats when Bolin rushed to them.
"Mako Just called. The CIA found the new airbender guy. But when they tried to bring him in, He ran away and climbed to the top of Kyoshi bridge and he won't come down." Bolin said before seeing the two. "Oh did I ruin a good moment?" Bolin asked.
"Plenty of good moments to have later." Sean said as they left.
Arriving at the bridge they saw the new airbender at the top.
"I got this." Sean said turning his arm into a Whip and used it to get up to him. (Sora I'm surprised You didn't say anything about his new powers in the Modern Warfare chapter)
"You seem to be in good spirits." Tenzin said to Korra who held Junior close making her smile.
"Yeah...Things are really looking up." Korra said as Sean and the new airbender came down making the crowd cheer.
"So this is the deal? We have a crisis every other day now, thanks to you?" Raiko asked making his presence known.
"Look pal. Your the only one who's having an issue here. You need to accept that times are changing like everyone else. The Vines and spirits are here to stay." Korra said.
"Well, you know who's not here to stay? You and your husband! I want you two to leave immediately...But you can forget about having this!" Raiko yelled trying to take Junior making him cry as Korra fought him.
"LET HIM GO!" Korra screamed before Sean rushed at him before cutting off his left arm.
"AHHH!" Raiko roared in pain before Sean smashed his leg making him scream.
"YOU DARE?" Sean asked enraged.
"You two have caused nothing but trouble since you got here! And that THING You two call a son! I'm taking him away from both of you! Officers take that thing away from them!" Raiko roared but they did nothing as Sean glared at them.
"No one is gonna listen to you Raiko. Now you have no chance of staying in office." Sean said as he and Korra walked away as Junior whimpered.
"Shh. It's ok honey." Korra said calming him down.
"It's ok buddy." Sean said as he stopped crying.
"I think...Some more time away from the City would do us some good." Korra said.
"Why don't we travel the four nations and find new airbenders. As much as I think us going back to the states is a good idea...I also like this part of the world." Sean said making her smile.
"I like that idea." Korra said.
"Don't think I'm not going with you two." Tenzin said making them smile. "It's so exciting. who knows who's out there right now, discovering the gift of airbending for the first time?" Tenzin said. (Oh my god! Ever heard of tempting fate!)
Meanwhile
On tall mountain a bridge was being extended to it before members of the White Lotus appeared with one holding food. (I still can't believe they didn't help during the Convergence since they helped retake the Earth Kingdom)
On this mountain was a special cell before the front was metal bended open.
Inside was none other than a man known as Zaheer.
"You know the drill, Zaheer."
"Of course." Zaheer said facing the wall with his hands behind his head.
"I hope you still like Rice."
"Tell me...Have you ever read the poetry of the great airbending Guru Laghima?" Zaheer asked.
"What?"
"Guru Laghima lived 4,000 years ago in the northern air temple. It is said he unlocked the secret of weightlessness and became untethered from the Earth, living his final 40 years without ever touching the ground.
"Is that how you plan to escape, with something you picked up from an old airbender children's story? That sounds like something Altair's son would call nonsense."
"His son?" Zaheer asked. "So the third Generation has returned?" Zaheer asked.
"No. All of them are dead. Killed by Altair's siblings 17 years ago because they were corrupted by some black magic. Their kids are the new generation now."
"I see." Zaheer said.
"Not that it matters. You won't be leaving that cell being a non-bender and all."
"And what makes you think I'm a non-Bender anymore?" Zaheer asked as he used airbending to pull him to the bars making him grunt before Zaheer dashed at him and held him in a headlock.
"How? You're not a Bender!"
"Nature is changing like the wind!" Zaheer yelled freeing himself before using airbending to force them inside before locking them in. "The end of White Lotus is coming. And soon a new change will take place." Zaheer said before jumping down the Mountain using his new abilities.
