It was Christmas Eve and Adeleine still had no word on the date. Granted, it had only been one day since they had last had a conversation, but to Adeleine it seemed like forever.

She knew that they both wanted the date and would be looking forward to it. It was all just first date jitters and with the stress of Christmas Eve on her back.

She felt utterly terrible for her owl Polaris who had been owling gifts the whole day. Polaris was delivering the last batch of gifts to Hermione who was staying in the Burrow as the Aurors located her parents in Australia.

Adeleine had given her Ginny, Luna, Neville, Blaise, and Athena their gifts already so she didn't need owl them. She had been busy wrapping and delivering presents all day that she hadn't gotten much of anything done, apart from the times that she went to the Great Hall for food.

She hadn't seen Theo much around either. She expected that he was either hanging out in the Slytherin common room all day or just didn't want to be seen.

It was time for the Christmas Eve feast at the Great Hall with all the professors. What a joy.

This was Adeleine's first time staying at the castle during the holidays. Her and Oliver went back every Christmas to see their mother so this was the first Christmas that Adeleine would be spending without her mother and Oliver.

Adeleine strolled down the halls in a light blue sweater which was decorated with large white snowflakes. She was also wearing regular blue jeans. It was nothing special, but she was showing the slightest Christmas spirit.

She arrived in the Great Hall and saw that all the professors were seated in their seats. McGongall greeted her with a warm smile which Adeleine returned. There was only one table in the Great Hall which every student that stayed piled on.

She saw that Theodore was seated next to another Slytherin. The table mostly consisted of Slytherins, but there were maybe two Hufflepuffs. One Gryffindor was seated across from Theo who was a first year or second year. He looked absolutely terrified of Theo which Adeleine couldn't help but chuckle at. Theodore was like a big teddy bear.

"Addy!" Theo called as he spot her walking into the Great Hall.

"Hey Theo" Addy waved to him as she walked to sit next to him.

"We were about to start" Theo informed her and Addy nodded with a smile.

Addy furrowed her brows as she noticed the missing presence of a certain blond haired Slytherin. "Where's Draco?" she asked and Theo's brows jumped at the use of Draco's first name instead of the last name that they were all used to hearing.

"Not sure" Theo muttered to himself and Addy started to become slightly worried. "I'm sure he'll turn up" Theo added quickly, noticing the worry that was etched onto her face.

"Yeah" Addy agreed, nodding with him although she was still slightly unsure.

"He'll be fine" Theo reassured her. What type of trouble could the blond haired boy be in anyways?

"Welcome everyone to our Christmas Eve feast" McGongall announced loudly, standing up from her head seat at the professors table. All eyes turned to their esteemed Headmaster as she raised her golden goblet for a toast.

Everyone in the Great Hall cheered and raised their glasses to the toast. A feast appeared on the table and everyone was quick to dig in and pile food on their plates.

The professors chatted amicably, no doubt about their students. The few people in the Great Hall began to socialize and soon Hufflepuff's were chatting with Slytherins as well as the one Gryffindor boy that was scared of Theo.

"I'm here" Draco Malfoy shouted as he burst into the Great Hall, making all eyes go to him.

It appeared that the pale boy was out of breath like he had been running for his life, which he had been. Pansy Parkinson had tried to corner him yet again so Draco did what he did best and sprinted the other way.

It took Draco Malfoy 10 minutes to finally get away from the unbearable witch. Pansy did not want to go down to the feast because she could not stand being near Adeleine Wood, also because she was just not feeling in the Christmas spirit.

Her mother had been dating this new man and they had recently gotten engaged. Pansy was not happy to say the least and opted to stay in the castle, away from her mother and soon to be step-father.

It wasn't that her mothers fiancé was a bad person because he in fact wasn't. He was quite nice and had begun dating her mother around two years ago. Pansy never thought it would last, just like her mothers past relationships, but as the months went by it seemed that the man was set on her mother.

The only thing that bothered her was that her mother's fiancé was a muggle born. Pansy wasn't prejudice against muggleborns at all, but the man was still getting used to the idea of magic. Apparently he had been in a past relationship with another witch that hadn't gone well.

"Fantastic of you to join us Mr.Malfoy" McGonagall said with a small smile. "If you would take a seat I'm sure there is plenty food for all of us to share."

"Sorry I was late" he apologized again to McGonagall.

"It's quite alright Mr.Malfoy" she said. "Will Ms.Parkinson be joining us today?"

"No" Draco shook his head.

"Great. Sybil could you pass the tripe?"

Adeleine chuckled faintly at McGonagall and Theo snorted. They both waved Draco to sit by them and Theo patted the seat next to him. Although, Draco refused to sit next to Theo, opting to sit next to Adeleine instead which made Theo scowl at him teasingly.

"Why were you late?" Adeleine asked him gingerly.

"I was doing a few things and then Parkinson chased me" Draco shrugged as she cut a piece of ham and brought it to his plate.

"Oh" was all Adeleine said.

"So what things were you doing mate?" Theo asked Draco and Draco gave a small glare to Theo. Theo had no idea what he had done to receive the glare, but backed off.

"Nothing much" Draco muttered. "Just homework."

"Did you finish the essays that Slughorn gave us?" Adeleine asked.

"Erm yeah" Draco lied.

"Cool, wanna compare? I did mine on Essence of Dittany."

Theo scoffed at Adeleine. "It' Christmas Eve. Stop worrying about homework and just celebrate the holidays with some good friends."

"Where? I don't see them" Adeleine retorted sarcastically causing Theo to glare at her and try to suppress the smile that was making the way onto his lip. "Just kidding, okay. Jeez" she put her hands up in defense.

The three continued to eat, talking about various topics. It was mostly Theo and Draco who did all the talking, mainly about quidditch which Adeleine was not the slightest bit interested in. Her ears only perked up when she heard that Puddlemore United, the team her brother played for, was looking for a new chaser because one of their chasers had an accident, enabling her to play.

"She took a bludger straight to the head and she's got a concussion" said Theo.

"Damn that must suck" Draco said, not knowing what else to say about the topic.

"Well that's a depressing topic" Adeleine muttered.

Theo and Draco merely shrugged at her. "That means they'll be recruiting. You think they'll come to Hogwarts to find people?"

"Don't they have a reserve chaser?' Adeleine asked again.

"No, theirs is off to get married and his wife's pregnant" Theo explained and Adeleine nodded. "You know, for someone who doesn't like quidditch much you know a lot about it."

"My brother is Oliver Wood" Adeleine said with an eyebrow up like Theo was stupid, "Merlin, all he talks about is quidditch. His life is quidditch."

"Right, I sometimes forget your brother is a famous quidditch player" Theo said with a finger pointing at Adeleine.

"So Draco, you think they'll be looking for people to play for them?" Theo asked to Draco.

"I dunno mate" Draco shrugged. "I mean I wouldn't say no, but they could go to a number of schools before the hit ours. By then they might have already found someone."

"Maybe you could owl your brother Adeleine" Theo suggested.

"Yeah maybe" Adeleine said. "I feel like I haven't seen the man in forever."

"Cool" Theo said. "I'm friends with a famous quidditch players sister" he sang in an irregular high pitched voice making Adeleine laugh and Draco snort.

The trio continued to eat dinner and chatting about more happy topics. Adeleine asked if the boys had received her gifts that she put in the Slytherin common room which they had.

Adeleine didn't really know what to get them both. She merely got Theo a quaffle signed by the entire Puddlemore United quidditch team, but for Draco she had really struggled on what to get him.

As a joke Adeleine got Draco a 'Chess for Beginners' book which was written by muggles. It would mentions various muggle tactics that Draco could use against his opponents. She opted for the joke since she truly did not know what to get Draco Malfoy.

Draco Malfoy was an enigma to her. Even from the moments they had spent together she still had no idea what to get him. She could have opted for jewelry, specifically rings, which he was always wearing, but he already had to money for that. He could buy as many rings as he wanted.

Adeleine always believed in meaningful presents. For Luna, Adeleine made her a charm bracelet and said that it would 'Keep away the Nargles.' Of course Adeleine had no idea what Nargles were, but hopefully Luna liked it.

For Hermione, Adeleine teasingly sent muggle birth control pills and a condom. She knew that it would make Hermione flustered, but for her real present Adeleine had gotten Hermione an original copy of 'Hogwarts: A History' which was Hermione's favorite book- for some odd reason.

Henceforth, Adeleine was giving him her joke of a present, but in reality she had no idea what to get the boy.

When dinner was finished, the trio walked Adeleine to the Ravenclaw common room. It relatively early, but everyone wanted to get up on Christmas. Theo invited her to spend Christmas with them which meant Adeleine had to bring all her presents to the Slytherin common room the next day. Theo said it was the price she would have to pay to hang out with them and Adeleine begrudgingly agreed.

Theo parted ways with her as they arrived to the Ravenclaw common room, but Draco stayed lingering back and waiting for Theo to be gone from hearing distance.

"Adeleine" Draco said, catching her attention. She was slightly taken aback by the use of her first name since she was used to be calling 'Addy' or 'Wood.'

"Yes Draco?" she asked and now it was Draco's turn to be shocked that she said his first name.

Draco rubbed the back of his neck nervously. He wasn't usually nervous around girls. In fact he was usually very confident.

"Meet me in the Astronomy Tower at 10" he said gruffly, somehow finding confidence in him.

Adeleine didn't even get a chance to respond before he exited the Ravenclaw common room, leaving her shocked and confused.
