I have good news.
Remember way back in chapter 1 when I had that author's note in the middle of the chapter? Well, apparently that author's note was practically a war crime because even now, I still get hate comments about how bad that note is. I finally got tired of all the complaints yesterday, so I fixed it and put the note at the end. You're welcome.
That aside, It's new chapter time. We're finally getting into 3 major events that I've looked forward to writing for a while now. I don't want to delay this any more, so let's get started.
"Hey, Peter!"
Peter was on his way out of school. It had been a few days since class 1A had chosen their hero names, and tomorrow would be the day they began their internships. He still had two things he needed to take care of, starting with the message Power Loader had sent him that morning.
Turning around, Peter saw Kirishima, Kaminari, and Mina walking over to him.
"Hey guys. What's up?"
"What's up? You can't be serious dude." Mina pointed accusingly at him.
"Uh, what? What did I do?" Peter tried to remember anything he might have done to piss off his friends, but he couldn't think of anything.
"Ever since the USJ attack, you've barely hung out with us. We don't do anything together anymore. It's like you're trying to avoid us. Not manly bro." Kirishima shook his head."
Oh. So that was it. Well, it wasn't like they were wrong. Ever since the USJ incident, Peter had been spending most of his time at the bar with Toga and the others. He hadn't really made any time for his friends since then.
"I'm sorry guys. There's just been a lot of stuff going on and I haven't had the time to hang out with you. If there's anything I can do, I'll try to-"
"Whoa, whoa, slow down Peter." Kaminari placed a hand on Peter's shoulder in an attempt to calm him down. "It's cool. If you have stuff to do, you have stuff to do. We're not here to yell at you, we came to invite you out."
"Really?"
"Heck yeah man!" Mina's aggressive attitude from before was gone now, replaced by her usual cheery demeanor." This is our last day before we start our internships, so we've got to celebrate properly. One last day of hitting the town. Arcades, shopping, dancing." She added the last part in a sneaky tone, drawing a groan from Kirishima and Kaminari.
Peter wanted to go. He really did. But he couldn't.
"I'm sorry guys, but I have to do something. Mr. Power Loader asked me to come to the development studio after school so he could show me something." Peter held up the letter he'd been given when he arrived at school that morning. "Plus, whatever he needs me for, I have to take care of something after that. I'll be busy the whole day."
His friends all slumped a bit. They had been hoping to finally spend time with Peter after all this time, but he had to go again. Peter hated seeing them sad, but luckily for him, there was a simple solution.
"Why don't you come with me? It might be important, which means it'll be something cool, and you'll get to see what I've been working on."
"You want us to watch you build something? No offence Peter, but that doesn't sound like a very fun way to spend the day." Mina politely declined.
"Oh, but it is fun. Especially with Mei there. Oh, right, you don't know Mei. Uh, imagine a female Bakugo, only calmer. Seriously, she blows something up every other hour."
That seemed to get their attention. The 3 of them quickly agreed to at least check out the development studio with Peter.
With his friends in tow, Peter continued on his way to the studio. He tried to figure out what Power Loader needed him for. Was it a new invention? A power source? Did a tech company make an offer for something?
His thoughts were cut short when they finally arrived in front of a reinforced steel door. Peter could already hear angry shouting from the other side, which meant Mei had probably blown something up again.
"Hey guys, this place can be pretty dangerous on the best days, so you should stay close to me, alright?" Peter's warning was met with confused looks and stiff nods. Satisfied, Peter opened the door.
Inside, there was fire, Like, a lot of fire. Workstations were burning, walls were broken, and a few ceiling lights had fallen down. Peter couldn't help but laugh a little. He couldn't wait to hear the story behind this one.
"But sir-"
"NO HATSUME! I told you it wasn't ready and you did it anyway! No explosive material for a week!"
"NOOOOO!"
Oh yeah, this story had to be good."
"Hey guys. What was it this time?" Peter casually greeted his fellow inventors as though there wasn't a flaming workshop between them.
"PETER!" Mei dashed across the workshop and tackled him violently. Wait, was she...crying?"
"PETER!" She sobbed violently. "Mr. POWER LOADER...HE'S TAKING MY BABIES!"
Peter made no efforts to get off the ground. Instead, he shot a questioning look at Power Loader, who was doing his best to put out the many fires burning around him.
"She destroyed not only her own inventions, but also her classmates' semester projects. They've worked hard for months on them, and she just blew them all up. As punishment, I'm not allowing her any proper fuel, connectors, or any sort of durable material."
"But...isn't that all stuff she needs to make her inventions? What can she make without them?" Power Loader didn't answer Peter's question, but the devilish smile told him everything he needed to know.
Power Loader threw his fire extinguisher aside, no longer needing it.
"We can clean up this mess later. For now, it's time to show the reason I called you here. Thankfully, Hatsume didn't blow that up too." The short man walked to a far corner of the workshop and came back with a massive cart filled with batteries, power cells, and huge connecting cables.
Interested, Peter tried to convince Mei to get off him. When she didn't respond, Peter bit the bullet and picked her up. She didn't even react. Honestly, she probably didn't even realize she was being carried. Peter carefully set her down on a nearby chair, worried she would tackle him again if she realized she had been moved.
Then he remembered his friends were still here. They hadn't said a word so far, all of them wearing stunned expressions.
"Guys? You okay?"
"...You're right. She is lady Bakugo." Mina snapped out of her daze first, laughing a bit at the same time.
Satisfied, Peter went over to Power Loader to help him unload the cart. The short man instructed him on where to place each of the cart's contents, even dragging in Kirishima to help since he was the only one who could help lift anything.
It took almost 10 minutes to arrange everything and another 10 to connecting cables, wires, and converters to them. When it was finished, it looked like a huge ring made of electrical equipment.
"Sir, what is this?" Peter, for the life of him, still had no idea why his teacher needed him for this.
"Peter, when you first arrived at UA, you gave me a chip, which you claimed held your friend. I told you to get her working we would need a surge of power to jumpstart her systems. The problem was that we didn't have anything capable of withstanding the energy needed to do so. Or at least, we didn't."
The inventor reached down into the very bottom of the huge cart, fishing out a lump of dark grey metal the size of his chest.
"Until Ms. Yaoyorozu stopped by this morning. She said something about how she owed you for some kind of monthly agreement and then left. I've run the tests on this metal, and I'm certain that it could work. It's extremely light, strong, and resistant to just about everything. If this doesn't work, nothing will."
Peter stared at the metal his teacher was holding. He had already made his monthly payment to the Yaoyoruzus, but Momo's had totally slipped his mind. But more importantly, if what the man before was saying was true, then it could be the key to bringing Karen back.
"...A-and you're sure? Everything is ready, all the parts are prepared, we just need to insert the vibranium?"
"Is that what this is called? Well, yes. This 'vibranium' is the key Peter. After I make a few minor adjustments, we'll be good to go."
Peter was overjoyed. He had been waiting for so long to be able to talk to Karen again, and now, she could finally come back.
"When do we start?"
"Right now."
Peter took the vibranium from Power Loader and waited for instructions. Honestly, he wasn't really sure what happened afterwards. He was feeling a lot of things at the moment. Excitement, worry, apprehension, and all the adrenaline coursing through him wasn't helping matters. The next few minutes passed in a bit of a blur. He ran from corner to corner of the workshop, adjusting machines, fixing cables, and typing commands into different workstations. When he couldn't do everything, Mina jumped in to help out.
Finally, it was ready. Everything was connected and the machine was just waiting to be turned on. All that was left was Karen herself.
Mei, who had finally broken out her downward spiral, handed Peter the chip containing the A.I.
"Wait, can somebody explain what's going on? You mentioned your friend being in a chip, but how does that even work? Is she a robot?" Kaminari looked completely lost as he stared down at the chip in Peter's hand.
"Close. She's an A.I. Think of her as the thing that runs the robots." Peter answered as he fitted the chip into a power cell at the center of the ring. He retreated back to the array of terminals Power Loader has set up to input all the commands. They had to do everything perfectly or the machine could very well overload and put a hole in the side of UA.
"Just so we're all clear, we're about to channel all the power in UA into this machine. The lights will go out, the alarm may go off, and things will get pretty crazy. The cables connecting the power cells are our lifeline. If they're ruptured, all the energy will be released and the machine will overload. This will be extremely dangerous. Those of you who wish to leave, do it now."
He was clearly talking about Kirishima, Mina, and Kaminari. They had no reason for being here and didn't need to be at risk. However, all of them shook their heads. They wanted to be here, and Power Loader wouldn't be getting rid of them that easily.
"Wait, you checked with principal Nezu to see if this was okay, right?" Mina's question was met with silence, though the silence was all the answer anybody needed. Power Loader acted as though nothing had happened, returning to giving orders.
"Okay, are we all ready? Hatsume?"
"Ready sir." Mei stood by at her own cluster of computers.
"Peter?"
"Ready." Peter was doing the same, fingers held above the several keyboards resting before him.
"Alright then. You, with the red hair, flip the switch." Power Loader ordered. Kirishima nodded, running to the far wall. He hardened his arms and grabbed the large power switch, struggling hard to turn it. At first, it looked like he wasn't going to get it, but then he hardened his arms further, and with one loud grunt of effort, he finally threw the switch down.
Instantly, all the lights in the room shut off. The only light came from the computer screens and the ring, which was now glowing a bright blue. Surges of power coursed through the cables connecting each of the power cells. A loud hum filled the room, and Peter could feel the air vibrating.
"Peter, input command 2G3DI!" Power Loader ordered.
"YES SIR!" Peter's fingers moved like lightning across the keyboards, quickly typing the code into each of his terminals.
The light switched from blue to white, the hum growing louder and the vibrations becoming stronger.
"Hatsume, command 8TDH-73!"
"YES SIR!"
More commands followed. Every time their teacher shouted, more commands were typed into the workstations. The humming and vibrating continued to grow stronger each time. By now, the floor was vibrating and the whir of the power converters was deafening. Still it was working.
And then, it didn't.
Peter's spider sense suddenly went off, sounding multiple alarm bells in his head. He motioned for everybody to get down immediately. As soon as they had all ducked their heads down, it happened.
One of the power cells in the ring detonated, sending a large energy pulse bursting through the workshop. There was a massive hole in the floor now, and energy continued to leak through the broken ring. The school alarm rang out loudly, and Peter could just barely hear the sound of the UA security gates slamming shut.
"SHIT!" Power Loader swore loudly. "With one of the cells down, the whole ring will detonate! We need a replacement part NOW!"
Peter wildly searched the workshop, trying to find something to quickly replace the cell. Then his eyes rested on the perfect replacement.
"Kaminari, you can absorb electricity, right?"
"Y-yeah, why?" The blonde boy was currently hiding under Kirishima, who had hardened and thrown himself on top of Kaminari and Mina.
The ring begane wildly sparking, sending small bolts of electricity shooting across the room. Peter's spider sense went off again, allowing him to barely duck his head in time to avoid a blast to his face.
"...Never mind. What do you need me to do?"
"I need you to be the power cell. Grab the cables and release the biggest blast of electricity you can." Peter ordered.
"Do I have a choice?"
"Yeah, be the power cell or we all explode!" Peter began to panic slightly, unintentionally shouting at the scared boy.
Kaminari sighed, still looking terrified.
"Fine. But if I die, I'm haunting all of you."
The electricity-user pushed Kirishima off of him, rising to his feet slowly. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself before making a mad dash for the machine. Electric bolts continued to randomly shoot out, melting holes in the room. Kaminari tried his best to avoid them, but right before he grabbed one of the cables, one of the bolts struck him directly in the chest and sent him flying back to the group.
"KAMINARI!" Peter ran to his friend. "HEY! HEY! YOU OKAY MAN!?"
There was a hole burnt into his shirt, but no marks on his skin. The electricity had been absorbed, but it still had to hurt when he flew across the room.
Kaminari groggily raised his head, his eyes slightly crossed. Peter shook him a few times to wake him up, trying desperately not to panic as the machine grew more unstable.
Slowly, Kaminari's eyes refocused, his senses returning to him.
"Hey! Are you okay!"
"Y-yeah. I'm good. Just a little winded." Kaminari rose up again, taking a few shaky steps forward. "Don't worry. I got this."
Again, he ran to the machine. He didn't make it as far as last time before a bolt of electricity struck his chest. This time though, he didn't go flying. The blonde slammed his feet down and forced himself to stay upright.
More bolts continued to strike him, but he didn't stop. He took slow, strong steps forward, ignoring the electricity striking him. Finally, he made it to the ring. Grabbing one of the cables, he leaped over the hole in the floor and slammed his hand onto the power cell on the other side.
Peter knew what would happen next. He'd been running equations ever since he told Kaminari to replace the power cell. Whether or not this worked, the result would be similar, which meant they all needed to get out. Now.
"Kirishima, grab Mina! We're getting out of here!" Peter grabbed Power Loader and slung him over his shoulder before grabbing the back of Mei's shirt and carrying her under his arm.
"WHAT ABOUT KAMINARI?!"
"HE'LL BE FINE! HE CAN ABSORB THE SHOCKWAVE! NOW COME ON, WE GOTTA GO!"
Kirishima grudgingly complied, hardening his skin as best he could before grabbing Mina. He and Peter ran across the workshop, abandoning the terminals just before they too were struck by a stray bolt.
What happened next was absolute insanity. Peter, with the help of his spider sense, dashed through the exploding workshop while dodging as best he could. Kirishima on the other hand just tanked any bolt that hit him, and instead of dodging debris and fallen parts, he ran straight through them.
"GET READY, THE DOOR'S HERE! KAMINARI, GIVE IT THE BIGGEST SHOCK YOU CAN AS SOON AS WE'RE CLEAR!"
"GOT IT PETER!"
Peter and Kirishima neared the door, ready to charge through and escape.
"INDISCRIMINATE SHOCK…!"
Peter threw his entire body into the reinforced door, causing it to practically explode off its hinges, flying across the hallway, through the wall, and into the parking lot beyond. Kirishima was right behind him, diving through the open doorway.
"1.2 MILLION VOLTS!"
Peter shoved Kirishima to the side before diving away himself. The two of them along with the others they carried out, barely moved to the side before a massive amount of electricity blasted through the doorway. Kaminari, combined with the full power of the machine, probably had enough energy to power a city block for a week.
Peter covered his ears to protect them from the horribly loud noise that followed. The wall behind him began to visibly crack from all the energy bursting around in the room on the other side.
Just when he thought the entire room would explode, everything stopped. Yellow lighting stopped shooting through the doorway, the whirring disappeared, and the vibrations in the air went away.
Cautiously, Peter slowly drew his hands away from his ears.
"You guys okay?'
One by one, everybody flashed Peter a thumbs up. Satisfied, he rose to his feet, peering through the doorway. The alarm had stopped and all the lights had come back on.
"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE!?" Peter jumped, not expecting the sudden shout. He whirled around and was met with the sight of all the UA teachers, along with Nezu, who was riding on All Might's shoulder. Aizawa was the one who had shouted angrily, his face filled with so much fury it was a wonder he hadn't burst into flames.
Power Loader cleared his throat, climbing to his feet and facing the faculty.
"There was a...development. Energy levels went beyond what we were expecting, but nobody got hurt."
"Huuuur!" A loud, stupid groan came from the smoking room. Unlike the rest of the school, the development studio was still without light, the huge amounts of smoke in the air not helping visibility.
Peter could just barely make out a shape stumbling in the darkness. It continued to come closer, before finally bursting through the smoke. It was...Kaminari?
"Huuuuur!" The crippled blonde joined the others in the hallway, a stupid expression on his face. His clothes were badly damaged, but there were no visible marks on his body. Aizawa sent a look at Power Loader that clearly said, "Are you serious?"
"May I ask, before we go any further, what exactly were you doing to cause all of this?" Nezu calmly asked, towering over everybody from his perch on All Might's shoulder.
"Right, well, it may be easier to show you." Power Loader slowly walked back into the development studio, wary of random energy shocks. After fumbling around a bit, he located the power switch that started the entire mess. He struggled for only a second before forcing it down, returning light to the development studio once again.
It looked like a war had taken place in the room.
Desks and workstations were scattered all over the place. There were smoldering holes burnt into the walls, floor, and ceiling, A massive hole was blown into the floor, revealing the classroom underneath. Somehow though, the machine was still standing, just without the fancy blue-white light.
Most importantly though, there was a single power column at the center of the ring, with a tiny glowing dot in the middle of it. It continued to flash randomly, as though it were trying to speak. Which could only mean…
"IT WORKED!" Peter shouted. "SIR! IT WORKED!"
Ignoring Aizawa's frustrated orders to come back, Peter ran to the column, vaulting over the power cells in his way. He reached up and pulled the chip from the column, happier than he'd been in a long time to see it was still active.
"Peter, come back here now!" Aizawa growled. Peter obeyed, walking back to the main group.
"Jesus Majima, what happened here? Did you set off a bomb?" Snipe looked around, sounding as though he didn't believe this was real.
"Forget that. Whatever it was just shut down the school and caused huge amounts of property damage. And for what? This tiny chip?" Ectoplasm sounded uncharacteristically angry. He looked scary, sure, but Peter had always thought he seemed calm. This was the first time he seemed genuinely frustrated.
"She's not just a chip. She's my friend sir." Peter was unable to keep the edge out of his voice. He felt a bit angry hearing somebody talk about Karen like that, even if they didn't know what she really was.
"She? What exactly is this young Peter?" All Might stared quizzically at the device in Peter's hand.
Smiling, Peter unzipped his jacket and pulled off his Iron Spider suit compartment. Finding the slot that had been empty for so long, he put Karen't chip back where it belonged. A few beeps and whirs came from the compartment, until…
"Hello Peter. It is good to see you again." Karen's sweet, familiar voice broke the silence. Peter was overjoyed.
"Karen! It's so nice to hear your voice. You have no idea how much I missed you."
Peter would have loved to just talk to Karen for the next few hours, but not everybody had the same desires.
"That's it? You blew a hole in the school, sent us into lockdown, and damaged expensive equipment for a talking thumb drive?" Aizawa snarked.
Peter mentally facepalmed at his teacher. Not because of what he said, but because of what would follow. Karen was a learning A.I. In the months she and Peter had spent together, she'd had more and more time to build herself a personality. As for what that personality was like, well...let's just say she didn't appreciate being compared to simple technology.
A few seconds of silence went by before Karen's voice returned.
"Your name is Shota Aizawa. You live alone, have very few friends, like cats, and make 1,117,000 yen a year. You are classified as rude and antisocial, and your address is-"
"What the hell is this!?" Aizawa angrily shouted, stopping Karen from reading any more of his personal information.
"Yeah, you probably shouldn't have called her a thumb drive. Karen is likely the single most advanced A.I. on the planet. If you asked her to, she could probably hack the prime minister's private servers in just a few seconds. Wait...Karen, don't do that." Peter quickly corrected himself before Karen did something bad.
"Understood Peter."
"Anyway, she's the friend I was talking about." Peter explained to Mina and the others. "She stopped working a few months ago and I've been trying to find ways to fix her. Mr. Power Loader actually did most of the work though."
"In that case, I must thank you...Higari Majima." Karen thanked the short man. "If not for your help and the resources you provided, I doubt I would have returned to full power so soon."
Power Loader seemed a bit uncomfortable that Karen was able to figure out his real name, but he took it in stride.
"You're welcome, er...Karen." He awkwardly bowed.
"Mr. Parker, what exactly are your plans for this Karen?" Nezu inquired.
"Well, she normally helps to run my suit, but since she's been gone, I've had to do that myself these past few months, which kept me from operating at my best. Now the plan is to fix things. I'll put her back in my suit where she's supposed to be. Wait, you don't want to take her, do you?" Peter subtly shifted back, preparing to run if necessary. He was willing to give up being a vigilante, he was willing to be a student here, but if they tried to take Karen, he wouldn't hesitate to leave immediately.
"...No."
"What?!"
"Nezu, you can't be serious."
The teachers were quick to voice their displeasure at Nezu's decision. The mouse-like creature raised a paw to silence them.
"We do not understand how Karen works or what her full potential is. Mr. Parker is the only one who knows how to properly utilize her. For better or worse, he is the best choice for watching over Karen."
Peter breathed a sigh of relief. He wouldn't have to fight his teachers over Karen. At least, not yet. Who knew what would happen later?
"However, we have a lot to discuss Mr. Power Loader. I don't recall any requests to do an experiment such as this." Nezu smiled evilly. Peter couldn't see his face thanks to his helmet, but he knew that Power Loader had just paled dramatically.
The tiny man didn't even try to argue. He just left the development studio, followed by Nezu and the other teachers, leaving Peter and his friends alone.
"So...your name's Karen?" Mina tried to break the awkward silence by talking with the A.I.
"Indeed. I am Peter's personal A.I. created to assist him in the operation of his suits."
"Cool. My name is Mina Ashido.
"Eijirou Kirishima." Kirishima introduced himself next, giving Karen a big smile.
"Huuuuurr-minari." Kaminari was still broken, but he seemed to be recovering. One of his eyes was no longer crossed and he began forming real words again.
"I see. It is nice to meet you, Mina Ashido, Eijirou Kirishima, and Huuuuurr-minari."
"Hey Karen, I know you just got back, but I have some work I need your help with. I've been working on the project for a few days now, but with you here, I think I can finally finish it."
"Of course Peter. I am happy to assist you with whatever you need."
This was it. The thing Peter had been preparing to finish all along. Karen was a surprise to be sure, but she could definitely help out with this.
Picking his way through the devastated studio, Peter pulled a case from the wall and returned to one of the few work benches that was still intact. Opening the case, he pulled out what looked like the frame of a suit. It wasn't quite finished, missing eye lenses, forearm coverings, most of the legs, and part of its torso. Still, it was enough.
"A suit? But didn't you just make a new suit?" Kirishima was lost. What was the point of this?
"Yeah, but I can't use it forever. The suit runs on a very special energy source and needs a specific type of charger to replenish its energy. I don't have one of those and I can't build one with the materials I have."
Peter was proud of himself for the miracles he was capable of creating with junk and scrap parts, but even he had his limits. Those suit chargers couldn't be built out of broken phones and old radios, they needed real, high end equipment. Equipment Peter did not have.
"I need to build an all-purpose suit, one that's high tech, but not reliant on a charge. I'll hold onto my other suit for emergencies." It was then that Peter noticed just how dark it really was.
He caught a glimpse of the window outside the development studio, revealing the world to be darkening.
"Oh crap! It's late now!" Peter couldn't help but feel guilty. His friends had wanted to spend the day relaxing, instead they were stuck helping him.
"Guys, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to waste your entire day. I just thought that-"
"Hey, it's alright man." Kirishima cut him off. "You don't need to worry. Today was pretty fun actually."
"Yeah!" Mina agreed. "How often am I gonna get to run out of an exploding room? This day was crazy. We should do it again sometime."
The two of them waved goodbye, dragging Kaminari out with them. Peter was now alone with Mei and Karen.
"Is this what it's for? The vibranium?"
"How'd you guess?" Peter was a bit surprised that Mei had figured it out.
"It's obvious. You've taken 4 days to do something that would normally only take you a few hours. You were obviously waiting for vibranium."
Peter looked at the lump of metal resting next to him. There was still a good amount left. He could probably comprise most of the suit out of it and still have some left over.
"It is a good plan Peter. Even Tony never had an entirely vibranium suit. As far as my records indicate, his most recent suit, the Mark 50, was only 85% vibranium. Given the framework you have already finished, your suit will be 92% vibranium."
Peter smiled at the chip containing Karen. With her and Mei here, he could easily finish this suit.
He spent some time picking through the ruined workshop for tools and equipment, salvaging whatever he could to build his suit with. Sure that he had enough, he pulled up a chair and, alongside Mei and Karen, got to work on his newest suit.
The Next Day:
Peter was alone. It was time for his internship to begin. Earlier that day, he and the other 1A students had all said goodbye to each other and taken different trains to their internships. He was the only one doing his in this area.
His new suit was tucked into the briefcase he carried with him, though he still wore the Iron Spider compartment on his chest just in case. Aside from that, there was nothing unusual about his appearance at the moment.
As far as he knew, he was somewhere in Hosu. He had been instructed to meet with this particular hero at her agency, which looked like a fairly ordinary office building. It was a rectangular building with many floors, but no defining characteristics. No signs or anything. Well, there was one thing.
The whole building was painted green, blue, and orange. It was an interesting combination, but Peter liked it.
He walked into the building, and asked the secretary working the front desk where to meet his new teacher. She informed him that her office was on the top floor and called to let her know Peter was coming.
Now in the elevator, Peter took several deep breaths to calm down. He could handle this, right? If he could have a business meeting with some of the richest people in the world, surely he could handle casual conversation with a hero.
The elevator came to a stop. Peter stepped out and was faced with a hallway leading to large double doors. He had no proof, but somehow, he felt sure that the hallway was as long as it was to make people like him more nervous than they already were.
Peter started his trip down the hall. It felt like it grew longer after every step. It felt like his legs were frozen, making it harder to walk forward.
"Why am I so nervous?! This isn't even a big deal!"
Finally, Peter reached the end of the hall. There was a doorbell on the wall next to the double doors, which seemed a bit odd for the entryway to an office. Peter reached out to press it, but stopped himself. Based on what he knew about this person, he felt like he knew the best way to introduce himself to her.
Clearing his throat, Peter knocked on the door twice.
"Knock knock." He spoke clearly.
A moment of silence. Then…
"...Who's there?" A feminine voice responded.
Peter couldn't help but smile a bit.
"Spider-Man."
"Spider-Man who?'
"You've never heard of me? Man, I'm really not popular am I?"
FInally, the door opened. There was a woman wearing a wide grin on the other side. She had sea-green hair covered with an orange bandana. Her pants looked like clown pants, which had the same color scheme as the building they were currently in. There was no mistaking who she was.
"I like it. I mean, obviously it wasn't as good as my jokes, but I appreciate the effort. Good to meet you kid."
Yup, that's right. For the next week, Peter would be interning under Ms. Joke, the smile hero.
I didn't plan to make this chapter this long. I figured it'd be way shorter and I could fit more stuff in, but I ended up spending a crazy amount of time on the workshop section.
I know a lot of you are probably wondering what suit Peter made. Sorry but you'll have to wait until next chapter to see. Your only hint is that it's one of the suits from Spider-Man PS4.
By the way, you guys can feel free to ask me questions. When I started, people asked my questions all the time. Now though, it's like I scared everybody with questions away. If you're curious about something, go ahead and ask. I won't be angry.
Thanks for reading and remember to leave a review.
Aren signing off.
