Frowning, she touches the feather and it stills, sensing something off Sarah throws her hair into a pony and runs out quietly to not wake the sleeping man.
She out the sliding doors downstairs and forced her body into thinking it needed wings, taking flight with her black wings she heads for Hawks apartment on the other side of town in one of the highest buildings in the city within minutes. Sarah had been worried about him since leaving the club.
She sees his apartment was dark and was worried he may not even be home and be hurt somewhere, landing she throws open the sliding door looking around almost in a panic. "HAWKS?!"
She goes through the apartment finding each room empty but just as she was going to leave his bedroom she hears something making her pause looking to the closed closet door. "Hawks? You here?"
She walks over and opens the door slowly peeking in. what she finds makes her heart squeeze. Hawks was curled in on himself wings covering him as his whole being trembled.
Sarah joins him in the closet kneeling down peeking in through the small slit in his wings. "Hawks? Keigo? I'm going to hug you okay?"
She had plenty of times where she was in this position so she didn't ask what caused it, if he wanted to talk she knew he would. She crawls closer and gets under his wings to his body and pulls him into her chest holding him.
"I'm here now. You're safe with me. Shh.." She whispers as he latches onto her making her flinch from how tightly he squeezed, as if she were a life line about to be pulled away.
Stroking his hair she lets him hang on to her holding him just as tight, anger filling her for whoever did this to him but she pushes it aside knowing he needs her right now. "I'm here, I promise I won't leave you. I'm here Keigo."
Hawks slowly began to relax as she murmured assurances, it had surprised him when she called him by his actual name something she had never done. It reminded him of a mother soothing her child, her scent made him feel at home.
When she sees him no longer shaking she looks at her hand and sees dirt and a red smear. "Keigo, are you hurt? Is this your blood? Can we move to the bathroom so I can clean you up?"
Hawks takes a shuddering breath and nods unable to speak at the moment, he for the first time in his life felt absolutely loved and safe. He had unconsciously given her his trust these past months.
She stands not letting him go, he hadn't loosened his grip so neither had she. She grabs a pair of sweats and a shirt as they shuffled to the bathroom. She guides him to sit on the huge bathtub edge. "Okay I'm going to turn on the light…"
Hawks grabs her hand shaking his head, he didn't want to face the light yet. Seeing this Sarah stops looking over him, her quirk was going to be strained soon as she hadn't slept and it was one in the morning.
"Okay, no light…" she knew a rag wouldn't work anyway, he was covered in dirt and blood from wing to wing. "I'm going to get you in the shower then, I'll help you clean off."
He nods and Sarah turns on the shower head before facing him and helping him undress seems he had sat there silently staring at the floor. She had pushed any sort of hesitance putting herself into mother mode. Something she did due to embarrassment at naked bodies back when she worked in healthcare.
Hawks had gone numb and wasn't even thinking just doing what she instructed or asked of him, not even having it in him to make a joke.
Sarah just begins to ramble about her adventures she used to have with her family as she guided him into the shower not caring her clothes were getting soaked in the process.
"My dad used to take my sister and I to the beach when we were younger, it was a seven hour drive that he somehow cut into five. He was such an airplane, " once she gets his nod at the temperature she begins washing his hair before beginning to use the brush on his wings that he spread out for her, "then when we finally got there it'd be so cold that he'd start turning blue. I found this dead crab and he ended up chasing my older sister with. We didn't have much money for souvenirs or things but I'd always come home with a bucket of shells we'd collect along with any cool rocks or pieces of driftwood."
Hawks blinks starting to come back to his normal self as he listens to her rambles even beginning to smile a little grateful she was doing this for him. "Oh this one time during my birthday party I was wondering where everyone had went seems suddenly everyone had disappeared and so I went looking, looked out the kitchen window and there's my dad filling this huge tub with water balloons. It took four people to drag me out of the house, then no one could catch me…"
"Thank you…" he says quietly and Sarah almost misses it as she was rinsing off his wings.
She pauses before giving a soft smile, her shoulders relaxing. She had been concerned about how quiet he had been being. "Just don't get too used to this, I'm not showering you everyday." she responds turning off the water, she didn't want to make it a big deal or make him uncomfortable again.
He chuckles at that, being grateful to her for it. "How about once a week then?"
She rolls her eyes and tosses a towel at him, glad he was coming back to himself. "In your dreams Hawks."
He frowns beginning to dry off his body while she works on his wings. "Keigo. When it's just us I want you to call me Keigo, it sounds right."
Sarah smiles at that but says nothing just humming as she dried his wings, grabbing a blow dryer so they wouldn't be damp for bed.
Hawks felt completely loved which was a new feeling for him, the woman had shown him in the past hour that there was someone who would have his back.
Sarah turns off the blow dryer looking for any feathers she may have missed seems wet feathers would affect flight if he needed to fly soon.
"A mission went bad, the blood was from a kid...his father slaughtered him in front of me...it brought up my own childhood." Hawks murmurs staring at her reflection in the mirror watching her reaction.
Sarah stops looking back at him before hugging him fitting just between his wings. "I'm sorry that happened, I'm sure you did everything you could tonight. And I won't ever let that man touch you again. I have your back Keigo."
He rests his hand on her arm around him, he knew she meant what she said. "Thanks kid."
She releases him glad he seems back to normal and backs up setting the dryer down, her eyes going to normal eyes as her quirk deactivates from lack of sleep and without having any caffeine she couldn't keep it up without passing out. She was just thinking she'd have to get a taxi home.
Hawks slips on the sweats she had grabbed, there was a very dim light that let him see her outline so when he saw her eyes quit glowing he knew her quirk had deactivated. "Did you seriously ruin that leather outfit in the shower?"
She crosses her arms watching his outline. "No, I had just gotten into shorts and a tanktop and was getting the pins out of my hair. Thankfully I got the makeup off too or I'd look like some melting demon."
He chuckles at that and takes her hand turning to her and hugging her closely, petting her soft hair. "Thank you, songbird. I mean it, you can be my melting demon."
She returns his hug feeling exhausted from the long day but smiles. "Lets not go that far, now you get some rest, I have to get home. Kirishima will be there soon to help open the bakery."
Hawks releases her nodding, he didn't want her to stay the night as rumors would spread more about her and he knew she only felt platonic feelings towards him. She may always have his back and be there for him but it didn't make him want to let go.
"Stop by when you wake up and I'll make you some nuggets." she says walking out with him following to the door.
He watches her walk down the hall to the elevator shaking his head, the woman was barefoot for crying out loud and still wet from his shower. Hawks shut the door feeling lonely but brushes it off, he only came back to sleep anyway.
Sarah pays the cab driver and waves a thanks before heading back into the house seems she hadn't had any money. She had to get the money from the house and pay the driver.
Rubbing her face she closes the door turning to find Nikki hair a mess rubbing her eyes. "Dude, you were out late...why are you wet?"
Sarah yawns heading for the stairs. "Hawks needed me. A mission went bad…"
Nikki nods understanding it wasn't her place to speak more on it seems it wasn't her troubles. Nikki goes back to bed while Sarah goes upstairs and changes once more into another set of pjs before crawling into bed with Malik and FatGum.
