Royal Rumble: 28/1/2007

WWE Royal Rumble was live at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The first match that aired was a tag team match between The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy) and MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro). The match went back and forth until MNM took control by attacking Matt's injured jaw repeatedly. The Hardys gained the advantage briefly, but lost it when Nitro countered an aerial attack by Jeff. Jeff finally tagged Matt, who beat down both Mercury and Nitro. The finish came when Matt delivered a Twist of Fate and Jeff performed the Swanton Bomb on Nitro. Jeff then pinned Nitro for the victory.

The second match was Bobby Lashley against Test for the ECW World Championship. Test used many illegal moves, and took control after driving Lashley's shoulder into the ringpost. He continued to attack the shoulder until Lashley fought back with several powerful moves. Test rolled out of the ring, allowing himself to be counted out. Lashley won, and retained his title. He came after Test, however, brought him back into the ring, and continued to beat him down.

The third match was between World Heavyweight Champion Batista and Mr. Kennedy for the World Heavyweight Championship. Batista gained an early advantage by overpowering Kennedy until Kennedy injured Batista's knee by using the steel steps. Kennedy continued to attack Batista's knees, and applied various submission holds that target the knee. Batista fought back, still favoring the knee, until Kennedy pushed Batista into the referee, and hit a low blow. Kennedy had Batista pinned for over a three-count, but the match went on due to the referee being knocked out. Batista performed a clothesline and a Batista Bomb to retain the title.

Next up was the WWE Championship match.

in the arena, Umaga's theme hits and out comes the challenger for the WWE Title with Armando Estrada at his side. They make their way down the ramp and enter the ring where Umaga yells for the Bladewolf to come out in his native tongue.

OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!

The Devil's Wolf plays to a loud pop and the lights dim to a blood red, casting a sinister glow as the Bladewolf walks out with his WWE Championship around his waist. He makes his way down the ramp and steps onto the ring apron then steps foot over the top rope and enters the ring. He pulls his hood down then removes his metallic mask and tosses it aside along with his coat, then hands the WWE Championship to the referee as his theme dies down.

The referee holds the title up to show it is on the line then hands it to someone at ringside before he calls for the bell.

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

The two stared each other down in the middle of the ring before trading blows. Bladewolf nailed an uppercut to which Umaga retaliated with a nasty looking shot to the gut that sent Bladewolf all the way out of the ring. Bladewolf got to his feet, flipping his long hair out of his masked face and eyes before getting back onto the ring apron when Umaga pounded him off the apron with some forearms before coming to the outside and chucking Bladewolf into the ring steps like a rag doll.

Umaga kept pounding away on the champion beating him all the way up the entrance way towards the stage area before they made their way back down towards and eventually into, the ring. Umaga hit a head butt before Umaga began placing kicks into the WWE Champion's abdomen.

The challenger stalked the champion around the ring landing some clubbing blows to the back before trapping Bladewolf in the corner and landed some shoulder thrusts into the wounded stomach of the champ.

Umaga charged at Bladewolf in the corner only for Bladewolf to catch him and drive him into the opposite corner and drive his shoulder into Umaga's stomach several times before he runs, rebounds off the ropes and comes running straight into an Umaga lariat.

the referee began the ten count but Bladewolf made it to his feet by the count of seven and turned around only to be lifted up by Umaga and planted with a body slam. Umaga then went to the outside and gathered some toys from the ringside area. Umaga tossed the ring steps into the ring and went to get back into the ring before Bladewolf clotheslines him off the ring apron.

Bladewolf grabs the steel steps, lifts them up and tossed them directly at Umaga's head, cold cocking the challenger. Umaga stumbled to his feet at seven before getting back in the ring.

Bladewolf started stomping on Umaga with hard, aggressive stomps to the stomach before he delivers some hammering rights to the forehead. Bladewolf grabs Umaga then Irish whips him off the ropes and takes the Samoan Bulldozer down with a clothesline before he rebounds off the ropes and nails a leg drop across Umaga's throat. Bladewolf gets to his feet and grabs Umaga, going for another Irish whip when Umaga reversed it and nailed him with yet another clothesline.

Umaga hit some more punches to the gut before slapping on a bear hug in the middle of the ring. Umaga held the hold on for two minutes or so before converting it into a belly to belly suplex.

Umaga, never one to be distracted from much, grabbed the lower ring steps and placed them into the ring. Umaga set the steps up in the corner and sat Bladewolf in the corner. Umaga went for his running butt to the face, but Bladewolf got out of the way just in the nick of time and Umaga clattered into the steps.

Bladewolf picks up the steel steps before he runs...AND RAMS THEM INTO UMAGA'S HEAD! Umaga was laid out right in the middle of the ring! Bladewolf drops the steps befor ehe begins going to the rope rope then jumps off for an elbow drop...BUT UMAGA CAUGHT HIM IN A TILT-A-WHIRL SLAM!

Umaga hit a banzai drop but was met with knees on the second. Bladewolf rammed Umaga's head onto the steel steps, followed up by a German Suplex onto the steel steps. Bladewolf signalled for a Chokeslam and grabbed Umaga by the throat, lifted him to his feet before he lifts Umaga up when Umaga elbowed him in the side of the head, grabbed him in a reverse headlock...AND HIT A DDT ON THE STEPS!

Bladewolf rolled onto his back as Umaga fought to his feet. The referee started the count! ONE!...TWO!...THREE!...FOUR!...no movement from the Bladewolf...FIVE!...SIX!...SEVEN!...Slight movement now...EIGHT!...more movement as Bladewolf starts getting to a knee...NINE!...BLADEWOLF MAKES IT TO HIS FEET BEFORE TEN!

Umaga runs and takes the WWE Champion down with a hard clothesline. Bladewolf rolls out the ring and Umaga follows, grabbing him and looking at the announce table. Suddenly Bladewolf drives Umaga into the edge of the announce table, unloads with lefts and rights before he lifts Umaga onto his shoulders...AND HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF THROUGH THE TABLE!

Bladewolf falls down onto his backside before he fights to his feet, looks underneath the ring and pulls out steel chair after steel chair until he has four of them out. He then pulled out four tables and tossed them into the ring before he takes a ladder out and tossed that into the ring.

Bladewolf grabs Umaga and sends him into the barricade before tossing him back into the ring. Umaga stumbles to his feet and turns around...INTO A SPEAR FROM BLADEWOLF!

Bladewolf gets to his feet before he starts setting up the four chairs, then quickly sets the tables up with two next to each other and two on top. He picks Umaga up and shove shim into the corner to break the count. Bladewolf then sets the ladder up and nods to himself before he climbs up and looks at Umaga who regains his bearings, sees him and roars as he too starts climbing the ladder.

Both men were now at the top of the ladder and battling it out before Bladewolf grabs Umaga by the throat, looks at the stacked tables and chairs...BEFORE HE CHOKESLAMS UMAGA OFF THE LADDER! UMAGA CRASHES THROUGH THE STACKED TABLES AND INTO THE CHAIRS!

The referee starts to count! ONE!...TWO!...THREE!...FOUR!...FIVE!...SIX!...no movement from Umaga...SEVEN!...EIGHT!...still nothing..NINE!...Umaga stirs a little...TEN! BLADEWOLF RETAINS THE TITLE!

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

The Devil's Wolf played as Bladewolf leaned over the ladder, exhausted. "Here is your winner and STILL WWE Champion...THE BLADEWOLF!"

Bladewolf gets down from the ladder and is handed his title which he raises before he leaves the ring and limps up to the back as Umaga is tended to...

The 2007 Royal Rumble was one of my favourite Rumbles ever, because the Undertaker finally won his first Rumble match.
