Naruto walked on a red carpet along with the ragdoll demon that was escorting him to Morrigan. All around, there was what seemed to be a medieval theme. The halls were lit beautifully with black lanterns holding purple candles that seemed to never melt, as if they were enchanted to never burn out, and the scent of lavender clung to the air.
As he walked down the halls of the castle, the Human Prince gazed upon a set of knight armor equipped with a gold and silver spear along with a shield and seal that seemed to resemble an angel's wings. The helmets had horns that seemed to imitate halos if one was looking at them from a distance. Naruto just couldn't keep his eyes off of them as they kept walking.
Mudo looked up and was quick to notice the boy's interest in the armor. "I see you're interested in the Bianco Angelos."
"Huh?" Naruto was broken out of his curiosity as he turned to the ragdoll demon. "Y-Yeah. They're interesting, alright."
"The names come from the language of Italian from the old world. Bianco means 'white' while Angelo means 'angel'," Mudo happily informed with a bit more jump in his step. "Their appearance comes from the analogy of demons and deception; it may look beautiful like an angel from far away, but it could be a demon in disguise. They, alongside the royal guard, protect the castle."
Naruto hummed in interest, and he looked to his right to see tinted glass windows that revealed what looked like the wasteland and mountains of Makai. The Human Prince stopped walking and gasped as he realized something was strange about the scene.
"It-It's..." The boy's eyes were as wide as dinner plates. "It should be morning, but it's night. Why is it night?"
Mudo came up and put a hand on the Human Prince's back to get his attention. "It's okay, young master. Makai is a realm of darkness, therefore it has eternal night. It is morning for the people of both the human world and here. And it is almost time for breakfast."
"Stay calm," Kurama warned him as he felt his cousin's panic. "This is a new realm we're in. The laws of physics must not have as much hold here as in our world."
The boy quickly separated from the ragdoll demon's hand and took a step towards the window. Looking out, he could see bright, multi-colored skylights moving about that left him in wonder. What's with those lights?
"If your mission permits it, you'll be able to investigate. But I don't think your captain would allow you to go out to wander in the demon world. Now keep going," the fox dismissed without any room for argument.
Naruto and Mudo continued to walk down the corridor until they reached their destination.
A few minutes later... in the Main Hall...
The Main Hall was one of the many pathways to the throne room. From the entrance, one could see a magnificent, grand opening that revealed a red carpet so large that it looked like a massive catwalk to the throne room. There were two sets of four stone pillars that framed the hallway, and there were two sets of doors on either end. The left led to the throne room, the right lead outside.
One of those finely varnished, regal doors opened to reveal the Human Prince and the ragdoll demon. As soon as they entered, their ears were bombarded with the sound of cheering and screaming.
On their right, they saw the Queen of Makai herself walking down the hall. Morrigan now donned a sleeveless black dress that was slit on the side and went down to her ankles with her back exposed, and it was accompanied by a pair of matching heels. She wore gold earrings with elongated red gems, a silver ring with an extension of bat wings that also bore a red gemstone.
The Succubus strutted down the hallway with her head held high and a confident smile on her face, never once faltering. Every step she took was the same as the last, not one second wasted. As she walked into the middle of the hallway, her eyes turned towards her servant and Naruto on her right. The Queen of Makai spoke loud enough for them to hear amongst the cheering. "Good Morning, Mudo, El-ahrairah."
"Good morning, your majesty," Mudo replied with a look of fondness on his face akin to a relative.
Naruto was left in awe as his eyes were transfixed on the Queen of Makai. One could know something about a person from how they held themselves, and Morrigan had it all. The way she walked, the way she talked, she just radiated an aura that screamed of confidence and power.
As she walked out towards the entrance, there was a crowd awaiting her, ready to see their Queen. Demons of all kinds were there: Gargoyles, Succubi, Incubi, Imps, Banshees, Vampires, Catwomen, Fairies, Werewolves, shifters, just about everything.
Morrigan raised her hands to the sky as a roar of approval came from the Darkstalkers of the Netherworld. She shouted loud enough for all to hear, her confidence unwavering in the face of her audience. "Today, we celebrate the passing of the first King of Makai, Zeruru Aensland!"
The screams of her audience filled the air once more, excitement resonating throughout the palace. The Queen of Makai took a moment to wait for her citizens to calm down before continuing and brought her hands down. "Since the birth of this realm by Yami, he has ruled rightfully and justly! If he were to see us all today, he would be looking at us in pride of what we accomplished!"
Naruto turned his head in confusion as he noticed the change in names. He remembered what Morrigan said to him when they first learned each other's full names. When Morrigan gave hers, it was the first name that came before the last name last. It was another reminder of the many differences between the old world and this one, and he was curious to find out more.
"Incredible," Kurama quipped as Morrigan continued her speech, going over the labors the first King of Makai had done to maintain order. "Listen and listen well, dearest cousin. We are witnessing a part of demonic history. This is a privilege many humans would kill to have."
Yeah... Naruto continued to listen to the Succubus's speech, completely enthralled by every word she said.
The Queen of Makai then began to speak of her father, Belial. "My father's time as the second King in this world had come to pass as he left it in my hands. And while his rule was not ideal, he considered both himself and Makai one in the same. For over ten-thousand years, peace has lasted throughout the realm. Let us ensure that this peace will last for eternity!"
Cheers of joy and approval erupted from the crowd as they praised their Queen and lavished her with attention. The Succubus couldn't help but bite her lip as she tried to hold in a shudder, a thrilling chill crawling up her spine; it was exhilarating.
With a wave of the hand, she dismissed her people and went back inside the castle. Both Naruto and Mudo were in awe as she approached. "What did you think?"
Mudo had a smile on his stitched face as he stepped forward and spoke with pride, "You were magnificent, my Queen. Ever since you were born, I had the pleasure to see you grow into your role as a ruler that could maintain the balance of Makai. And I couldn't be prouder to be your servant." He bowed to this Queen and then dismissed himself to tend to his other duties around the castle.
Morrigan hummed fondly at the ragdoll demon's words as she turned to Naruto and put a hand on his shoulder. "Why don't we head into the throne room? Jon, Felicia, and a few others are waiting for us."
The Human Prince nodded as they all began to walk to their next destination. With a wave of the Succubus's hand, the doors magically opened.
The throne room had a red rug alongside pieces of artwork with Morrigan as the subject, displaying her adventures with the Darkstalkers and other warriors she'd met. As they walked in, Naruto saw Jon in his human form, talking with Felicia. On the other side of the room, there was a whole group of Catwomen.
All of them had blue hair, green eyes, and an agile frame. Like Felicia herself, they all possessed large animalistic hands and feet that were covered in white fur, and the fur on their bodies was shaped like a parka and shorts. The only differences between them were their facial features, hairstyles, and varying heights. One would assume that they were all related to one another.
The Catwomen were talking amongst themselves as they waited for the meeting to begin. The shortest one of the group, who was Naruto's height, glanced at the Human Prince and happily waved while mouthing, "Hi." Naruto gladly returned the wave.
"Jon, it's been so long since I last saw you," Felicia said, a smirk on her face. She turned her head as a question arose. "What happened to Fred and Marco?"
The Werewolf sighed and looked down sadly hearing those names. "They grew up with me as my sons. I begged the Kami for time to slow down as they grew older. Eventually, life happened."
The Catwoman rubbed his shoulders to comfort him. She knew she probably hit a soft spot for the Werewolf. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay. They grew to be fine young men and successful in life before the old world collapsed. I'm happy knowing they're in a better place," Jon assured a sad smile. One could see the heartsick look of a parent that lost their children in his eyes.
"Jon," Naruto greeted in relief as he approached, getting both the Werewolf and Catwoman's attention. "I'm so glad to see you."
The Lycanthrope placed a hand on his godson's head and ran it through his hair. A paternal smile made its way onto his face. "I'm glad to see you too, Naruto."
Morrigan sat on her throne with a tender smile as she watched Naruto and Jon. He must be married with kids after all this time. There's no way a man can have that look and not have a family. I'll have to do a little digging later.
"I need to talk to you about something," Naruto said as the Werewolf took his hand off his head, his eyes filled with worry.
"Hopefully, that can wait for later," the Queen of Makai intervened as everyone in the room turned to see her sitting on the throne with one leg crossed over the other. "Now, why don't we introduce ourselves to our guest?"
Every one of the Catwomen in the room except for Felicia turned to Naruto.
The Catwoman with her hair tied back in a pink band spoke in a gruff voice and pounded her fist into her chest. "I'm Grace, Felicia's second in command. I'm the one who keeps the rest of these nuts from screwing anything up." She pointed towards the rest of the crew on her left with her thumb. "We have cynical Lucy, Alto the mini-Felicia, the twins Nana and Mimi, Piko, and Nonno."
The Human Prince nodded happily. He couldn't help but be reminded of Leona as she spoke.
"Now's that that's over with, let's get back to the matter at hand. We stopped Jedah's plans for now, but we need to strategize on our next course of action," Morrigan suggested.
"What should we do?" the Catwoman named Grace asked in a gruff voice as she stepped towards the Queen. "If Jedah's on the move, then he could be anywhere in Makai. Not to mention, there's been an emergence of Hellspawn and D-Class Darkstalkers that might be his doing alongside the natural rifts to the other realms of Hell have been widened recently."
"Which ones do you speak of, Grace, and how?" the Queen of Makai calmly asked, her hands folded on her lap.
"Our sources say that the Qliphoth has been used to expand access to the other realms of Hell, forcing the more mindless, bestial, and berserk Darkstalkers to come into this world. Inferno and the Nine Circles are the ones most recently opened while the others are being monitored."
"Hmm... I see..." The Queen of Makai looked down as she considered all her options. She then looked up, a confident smirk on her face. "I'll have the Royal Guardsmen investigate the realm temples and see if we can get to the bottom of this."
Despite her cool composure, Morrigan's gaze darkened as the weight of her responsibilities increased. The Succubus couldn't help but curse Jedah for everything that was happening.
Unbeknownst to the Succubus, Naruto sensed her distress. "Morrigan, are you alright?" he asked in concern.
The Queen of Makai was broken out of her thoughts as she turned to the Human Prince, the stress seeming to leave her as she was quick to put the boy at ease. "I'm fine, El-ahrairah."
Lucy, the Catwoman with long, straight blue hair, glared at the second in command. She had a doubtful look in her eyes as she turned to the Queen of Makai. "Are we sure a kid should be fighting alongside us? No offense, Morrigan, but he would be corrupted by a Darkstalker's power before he even got the chance to move."
The mini-Felicia got in front of the cynical Catwoman. She had a cute pink bow at the end of her hair and a cheerful demeanor, the same as the leader of the group.
"Don't be an ass, Lucy," Alto sniped as she grit her teeth in anger. "From what Felicia said, he managed to hold his own against Raptor of all Darkstalkers."
Lucy shifted to the shorter female with a raised eyebrow, her tail flickering in annoyance. "Yet she still had to save him?"
Naruto stepped in with a cold gaze. "If you don't believe in my strength, why don't we test it right now?"
"Alright then, kid, let's do it." Lucy stepped into the middle of the chamber, and the blonde followed suit.
Silence took the room. Everyone's eyes widened while Morrigan summoned a wine bottle in her left hand and a glass in her right as she poured herself a drink. She couldn't hold back the smirk tugging at her lips. This is going to be entertaining.
Lucy put her fists up while Naruto stood firm.
"Naruto, are you sure you want to do this?" Jon asked from behind.
"Yeah, it'll be fun," the Jinchūriki replied as he looked back fondly to his superior.
By that point, the cynical Catwoman had widened her stance and was wearing a smug look as she kept her right fist up. "Rule number one, never take your eye off your op—"
Before she could finish, Naruto turned around, crystallized his hand, and grabbed Lucy's fist in an iron grip. He jumped up to wrap his legs around the feline demon's head, and with the jerk of his body, he flipped her over onto the ground with a heavy slam.
And just like that, their little fight ended with the Human Prince as the victor. Morrigan, by that point, had finished her wine and burst out laughing uncontrollably, spittle flying from her mouth. Jon looked proud of his godson for standing up for himself and nodded in approval while the others tried to hold in their snickers.
Naruto had the Catwoman's throat between his shins. He released her as he got up from the ground while shattering the crystal in his hand and muttered an apology before walking back to his captain.
"Okay... I just got my ass handed to me by a kid," Lucy said between pants and slowly sat up from the floor, leaning on her arms. She kept her eyes on the boy as he walked away, puzzled about how a preteen boy even did that. Gee, is this kid Natasha's son?
"And you humiliated yourself because you judged him on his age," the one with her hair braided spoke with a calm yet annoyed tone of voice, as if this was something that happened every day. "We have more important things to deal with."
"Piko's right, you did walk into that," Morrigan agreed as she got up off her throne and walked to the middle of the room. She then faced Naruto and gave him a benevolent smile. "You will be shown around my kingdom and see how the old world influenced a part of what I added to Makai."
"Wait," a sweet voice called out as everyone turned to the Catwoman with a bowl cut, her eyes full of kindness. "Who's gonna watch him while he's touring around?"
"Don't fret about that, Nonno. I have that figured out."
Just as Morrigan said that, she brought both her hands to her chest. She closed her eyes as she focused her demonic power. Alright, it's time.
Suddenly, a purple flaming orb shot from the Succubus's chest and towards Naruto, making him step back. The sphere began to expand as it took form. A white silhouette then appeared, gaining feet, arms, wings, clothes, and hair.
The Human Prince had to step back, baffled at what was before him.
The young Succubus looked to be a cute young woman with scruffy lavender purple hair, fair skin, and red eyes. Like Morrigan, she wore a sleeveless, red, busty top adorned with white feathers and a small diamond cut out of the midriff. She donned light blue nylons emblazoned with bats and red combat boots. The Succubus had red wings on her head and back. Contrary to Morrigan, who had a sexy, confident, and hedonistic yet responsible air about her, this young woman held a more sophomoric demeanor; she was like a younger sister who wanted to be like her elder sibling.
Without warning, the new Succubus looked to Naruto with joy in her eyes and jumped towards him.
The Human Prince didn't even get the chance to move as the newcomer's arms wrapped around him in a hug. She squealed as she picked him up, her voice like an adolescent as she began to squeeze the life out of him. "I always wanted to meet you, but Morrigan kept saying that I could get to know you later!"
Naruto quickly escaped the unnamed girl's grasp, gasping for air. This woman's trying to kill me!
"Suck it up, meat clown. The Queen of this realm is letting you take a break while the others work," Kyūbi growled out as he rested his head in his crossed arms. "You can talk to that Werewolf about your problems later. After that, you will be training with me on how to control my chakra."
The only thing the Human Prince could do at the moment was restrain himself from making any facial expressions of irritation. He breathed in from his nose and out through his mouth to compose himself.
Morrigan strutted towards Naruto and put a hand on his shoulder as she used the other to present the young woman. "El-ahrairah, meet Lilith. She's part of my soul and practically my little sister." The Queen of Makai then drew her head in close and placed a sweet, maternal kiss on his cheek. "She'll be taking you around my kingdom and to the park. I know you'll love it."
"Yeah, let's go!" the younger Succubus exclaimed as she grabbed the boy's hand and dragged him away from everyone. The boy tripped over himself multiple times as he tried to keep up with the demoness.
Once they were gone and out of sight, the Catwomen, the Succubus, and the Lycanthrope got down to business as they all turned to the Queen of Makai.
"So why did you send them away?" Jon asked as he crossed his arms and eyes squinted. "You very well know that Naruto is a vital part of this mission."
"Spare me, Jon. We need to come up with a plan and fast," the green-haired demoness retorted as she rolled her eyes. "If Jedah is opening the realms of Hell itself, then it means he wants to distract us so he can swipe the rug out from all of us."
"Then what should we do?"
"With every action he commits, he leaves something for us to pick up. And I expect his next course of action is soon…"
Somewhere in the wastelands of Makai...
In a dark, man-made cave, the Iron Horse Iron Terror sat proudly upon a set of train tracks. It was decorated with the gashes of blades, claws, and dents all over. The damage done to it would take a long time to repair.
Jedah stood next to the train with his hands folded behind his back. He was before all of his bowing cultists from various nations. They all dressed in a blood-red variant of their homeland's garb.
The demon lord spoke with allure as he raised his hands. "The repairs for the Iron Horse Iron Terror must be done immediately. If our dreams of a pure world are to come true, we must put in all our efforts."
The Dark Messiah's cultists cheered in response, their roars resonating throughout the caves.
One cult member from the left stood and spoke with shame in his voice. "Jedah-sama, please forgive me, but the train's internal repairs will take a few weeks at best due to whatever technique was used to tear into it, and the boiler has a massive gash. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources needed to repair both."
"I see." Jedah put a hand to his chin and began to contemplate his options. "We'll have to get them from an old factory in the snow regions of Makai."
"But Jedah-sama, the Sasquatch people live in that region. They will tear us apart the moment they see us. And they've already destroyed the paths we take. The mountains are so steep and unstable that even trained shinobi will have trouble traversing—"
"Then we will improvise," the purple-clad demon swiftly cut off as he looked about. "If our dream truly is worth fighting for, then we need to prepare for the worst."
As another set of applause washed over the Dark Messiah, he knew that with Morrigan, Jon, and a few others in the fray, this would only make his goal far more difficult.
Jedah folded his hands behind his back and went deep into thought. The other realms are doing their job keeping the daughter of Belial busy, but it won't last; she's too smart for that. It is time that I go all in…
Alright, so you know the gist. Plot expands, Naruto meets new people, Jon meets old allies, I eat something deep fried and smothered in chocolate (Name the reference), and the cycle continues.
If anyone knows then you know what the Bianco Angelos are, and where they come from. Other than that, you'll find a few things if you look close enough, and don't be afraid to name them.
If you know Darkstalkers, then you Jon's ending in Darkstalkers 3. There, it is shown that he cares for two orphaned boys named Fred and Marco.
A part of Felicia's origins are rather based on her birth year 1967. It's same year that author Edward Field wrote the poem: Curse of the Cat Woman, which describes a chance encounter with a beautiful woman from Transylvania tormented with the tendencies of a feline.
For Darkstalkers and L. Raptor, their original interpretation of a Zombie who's origin was a soldier that had died in battle only to be resurrected. But as time passed, the soldier became a former heavy metal rocker. Raptor's human form bears a similarity to a young Ozzy Osborne while his Zombie form rather bears resemblance to Eddie the Head from the band Iron Maiden.
I thank my beta for their oversight and brush ups on my story. They always helped when I needed oversight and an outside perspective on the story as a whole.
And I will see everyone next time.
