When the guard came to them, Toga almost let it go. They were children and they would be surrounded by the guards. Yet he could not help but to remember her purity, the way it still rubbed against his senses as she stood over and before Sesshoumaru. So he stood and pulled on his robes, ignoring the secret smile on his mate's lips.
Fuiasu was indeed smiling as she followed Toga down the quiet, darkened halls. She knew now what the girl's purpose was, at least for the time being. Fate had a way of changing such things at the drop of a hat. For now at least, she knew. Sensing her mates worry, it amused her for though she knew, the knowledge was not something Toga would understand.
When they reached the nursery, she was not surprised to see the guards there and was more pleased at the sight of them than she was willing to admit. No fool, Fuiasu knew the children could not always be under the protection of the guards, knew that eventually something would happen and they would both be injured again.
Moving with Toga into the dark room, she stood over the futon that both children occupied and felt her heart warm and melt at the sight. She grabbed Toga's hand, her eyes soft and smiled gentle as she studied them.
Black and silver hair mixed on pillows as forehead touched forehead. They were both fast asleep and tiny smiles fit both of their features, even in their dreams. And they held hands, their fingers interlocked.
Glancing at Toga, she motioned for him to pick them both up. "They will protect each other," she murmured as she leaned forward to kiss both of their brows as her mate held them. "And we will protect them."
