Here is the next chapter. I hope you like it. Please read and review thanks love Hermione xxx
Bathsheda rushed to the staff room and was intent on speaking to whoever happened to be in there when she arrived. It was obvious the truth charm had made Hermione very truthful indeed as she had cursed when angry. Bathsheda had come to the conclusion after hearing Hermione berate everyone and anyone for cursing regularly that she often cursed internally when angry but would never want to actually admit or show it and the truth rune had made her do it in all honesty. She entered the staff room to find Pomona and Minerva inside. Filius and Severus were obviously teaching along with the others who were not there. They were both enjoying a cup of coffee and some treacle tart and were startled by her entry as she had looked a bit harried when she'd come in.
"Hello Bathsheda would you care for some coffee and tart we just got some and it's delicious!" Minerva asked as she smiled.
"Yes please. As I have you here we need to talk. Miss Granger misbehaved in my class and as a punishment I gave her a questionnaire to answer which was embedded with truth and invisible runes so she would not know she would be writing the absolute truth. It was meant to be a punishment and so obviously I asked her some more unusual questions but her answers deeply concern me and I thought to show you both as I need your advice on how to proceed. Obviously I asked for truth and boy did I get it or what! She even cursed in here!" she said as the others gasped. She sat down and accepted the coffee and tart from Pomona who took the parchment from her hands and read it while Minerva looked on in concern. She was stunned as Pomona laughed.
"I mean seriously? I'm not on any drugs I assure you now. Just because I'm not all gloom and doom like Severus suddenly I'm creepy and suspicious. That girl is not a fool it would not be wise for her to start now. I am appalled at some of the other things she has written in here. Minerva read this please!" she instructed as Minerva looked warily at it.
"You know Bathsheda I am not sure what inspired that type of punishment but I might need to take it for some of my more rambunctious students!" Minerva said with a chuckle as she read the page. She soon stopped laughing however. Her lips formed a thin line and she looked furious.
"You did ask for honesty and you definitely got it but I had no idea she idolised Albus so much. This is indeed troubling. I have no doubt he might like it for a while. I daresay any of us might really because when someone strokes our ego it can be nice but this is too much altogether and soon enough like us he would see it for the wrong thing that it is!" Minerva chided as she read it. It was decided to not tell Albus for now until those teachers it had mentioned had seen the paper first. Minerva had to go to a class and Pomona stayed behind as she didn't have one and Filius entered as Bathsheda was leaving for her next lesson. Pomona invited Filius over to read the sheet which he read becoming furious. The hat was not designed to go to the will of anyone else. If it said you belonged in a house it usually happened you weren't usually able to persuade it otherwise.
"Hogwarts house hat please come here if you can!" he intoned as the hat appeared on the staff table with his usual smile on his face.
"Yes my dear Filius how can I be of assistance to you this glorious day?" he asked as Filius straightened up.
"This is not usually done but we need to know about Hermione Granger's sorting. How is it that she confessed she was supposed to go to Ravenclaw but ended up in Gryffindor?" he asked as the hat seemed to shudder.
"That was one of my most disturbing sortings ever. Essentially she was able to forcefully make me put into Gryffindor using her magic which she'd secretly known about for years and been honing. She hadn't actually known you'd need a wand for it until she'd been instructed to buy one. She was excellent at wandless magic and used it to force me to put her into Gryffindor which I am afraid to say has not been a good fit for her. She affected Mr Potters sorting as well I am afraid!" he said sounding regretful as Filius eyebrows rose up in shock.
"How did she do that? He told us he asked not to go to Slytherin house is that not true?" Filius asked as Pomona beside him gasped at what she was hearing.
"Actually yes he did but I was not intending to put him there anyway so he needn't have actually worried. Yes I said he'd have been a good fit there but actually intended to put him into Ravenclaw. He begged to go anywhere but Slytherin and just as I was about to put him in Ravenclaw her wandless magic forced me to say Gryffindor. He was seriously not suited there either. They never appreciated him for what talents he did have. He was raised very poorly indeed. I saw it in his mind and he was literally terrified to achieve anything good but he does in fact have an eidetic memory. When I resorted him into the house he was always meant to go into I could see that he has so much more potential. It was almost as though he was now pure or something. I would expect greater results from Mr Potter in his classes now!" he said happily or as happily as a hat can. He left at once as Severus entered and was shown the same page of answers Hermione had given scowling deeply. Filius found Hermione on her way into the library and took immediate action.
"Miss Granger please come here at once. Now I have received a serious allegation of sorts against you and I wish to know if it is the truth. Someone had accused you of using wandless magic in your first year to make the sorting hat sort you and Harry Potter into Gryffindor. Did you do it?" he asked her as she looked uncomfortable.
"Yes I did for myself but not for Harry!" she said as he looked at her intensely.
"So if I cast a truth charm on you now you would tell me the same things?" he asked as she said yes giving him permission to do it and he cast the charm on her asking her the same questions.
"Oh I cannot lie of course I did. I would never admit to doing it to Harry though as I have zero wishes to get in trouble. I am not an idiot you know. I had to do it because he was too ridiculous for words when I met him. He simply wasn't understanding me when I told him that even Professor Dumbledore had been a Gryffindor. He told me that it was nice but that he was still considering which house he'd like to go into. I couldn't let our hero go into another house just like that. It would have been most disgusting and shameful. Also Professor Dumbledore would have been disappointed in it and I couldn't bear to see him look disappointed. I was quite frankly disgusted when he requested a resorting. It goes against every fibre of my being. Had I known he was going to try and escape Gryffindor beforehand I'd have made the hat put him back there but the slimy bugger caught me off guard and I was being watched by McLaggan so I couldn't act. He doesn't belong in Ravenclaw he should be at home with us instead of in that house with Luna Lovegood!" she answered him honestly. He had genuinely not expected her to so boldly lie to his face. He cancelled the spell and looked at her seriously.
"Suffice it to say young lady we're going to headmaster Dumbledore right now. He needs to hear this for himself!" he snapped as she sullenly followed him to the headmaster's office. Albus was stunned to see him there with Hermione Granger no less.
"Filius Hermione Granger is not a member of your house. Why is she here with you of all people?" he asked sounding slightly annoyed.
"Hermione Granger here just allowed me to cast a truth spell on her whereupon she admitted using wandless magic to force Harry Potter to be in Gryffindor in his first year!" he snapped as Albus looked stunned at her and indeed him.
"Miss Granger I have known Professor Flitwick over forty years and I know he'd never lie to me. Why would you do that?" he asked her more out of interest than anything else.
"But you were a Gryffindor and when I met him and told him that he really didn't care all that much. He told me that he thought what I was saying was nice but that in reality he wasn't sure where he wanted to go. I couldn't allow him to not be in your old house. I knew you'd be disappointed sir and I couldn't bear to see you disappointed ever!" she vehemently defended herself.
"Miss Granger the reality of the situation is that I did not want him to be in Slytherin because I thought those families who had darker parents might try and abuse him for their own dark agendas something I really didn't want. As long as he was not in Slytherin I would have been fine with it. Obviously I was beyond proud and honoured that he was in my house and the house of his parents but recently I have had to face how much he did not fit in there. Gryffindor disgusted me so much recently and it was my own fault. I was not the model person I should have been!" he said seriously as she balked a bit.
"Please sir, you're fantastic. Don't say that about yourself please!" she pleaded as he looked disappointed none the less.
"Let's just say I understand your motivations although highly misguided. I won't be expelling you this time Miss Granger. Next time however you may not be so lucky. Harry Potter was very irresponsible this summer and we need to keep an eye on him to insure he doesn't go down a dark path unintentionally. You will serve detention on Friday at eight pm with Professor Snape. Oh and Miss Granger keep your wandless magic out of my school. I have no room, patience or time for it. Need I say anymore?" he asked her seriously as she gulped.
"I only did it for you sir because well you're my idol and I am not ashamed to admit it. Also I do accept your punishment but please don't talk badly about yourself again because I could not take it. If Gryffindor had been better Harry would have wanted to stay. I blame them all!" she snapped bursting into floods of tears as she ran from the room leaving Albus and Filius behind both in states of awe. Albus felt such vein pride forming inside him. She idolised him and had admitted it herself. He could use her to his advantage for sure in the future and would be sure to do it too. Oh this would be wonderful.
