His Silent Scream
Chapter 36
Author Notes: So guess who's favorite twins are in this chapter~? I swear having these two be little kids was probably one of my best ideas...but people let's be real. It's me writing this-the nice fun times ain't lasting wrong. I do not own Yugioh.
3rd P.O.V
"Haou what's the answer to this question?" A pencil tapped twice on a sheet of paper, the owner not very happy. "Come on Jesse think a little. What are you supposed to be finding in this word problem?" It was another night at the Anderson house, with the brunette on babysitting duty.
Jesse and his brother were in the dining room, struggling with their homework. Usually Jehu would be with them, not really helping but more so teasing his brothers while trying to sneak a kiss or two towards Haou. Becoming a nuisance until Haou forced him to do his own assignments as retribution.
But the bluenette caught a cold. The moron(so much for the superstition that idiots couldn't get sick) after their lovely night time picnic found his throat hurting a bit. It only getting worse from there as he didn't bother nipping the problem in the bud immediately. Honestly to anyone else it wasn't a surprise that it came to this.
Jehu wasn't properly dressed as he should've been during winter. Let alone during the night where the temps were still in the low twenties if they were lucky. And then of course tripped into the freezing, snow filled ground. He was certainly paying for his clutz tendencies with quite a few symptoms.
A fever, runny nose, the previously mentioned sore throat and chills colliding with the aches he still felt from being pelted with paintballs a few days previous. Meaning his ass was in bed for once ergo there were less distractions.
Though Haou did leave the twins for a few moments every hour to check up on him, giving him whatever he needed. "Um...the purple marbles?" With a small smile Haou nods to the youngest brother. "That's correct."
Giving him the confidence he was definitely going to need in the future. He was the type of student to second guess himself, leading to mistakes. It was a simple fix really, so long as he was steered in the right direction.
"So the thing about word problems is that they put in a lot of information to try and trick you or to use for separate questions. If there are ten blue marbles and thirty five red marbles in a bag of fifty. How many purple marbles are there?" Frowning he glances down at the sheet.
Hating whoever invented math. "Five?" And word problems. He really hated those but he had to admit it was much easier with Haou going step by step with him. "Yep. Now tell me, what did you do to reach that answer?"
It seemed the older teen was doing some serious overtime in his tutoring sessions, as Jennifer struggled with handling the boys schoolwork these days. She admitted she was never the best student, and though she watched to make sure they did it, was unable to really help if(and when) they were stuck.
So she was extremely grateful for the brunette's aid, even offering to pay him(though he politely declined) for his efforts. At this point he was considered family. "Hey Haou? Is this how you spell flour?" Where Jesse has problems with math, Johan's struggles lied with reading and writing.
"Not quite, that spelling is used for cooking. What you're trying to spell is the plant. Flower. Can you try sounding it out?" Johan had a short attention span, and usually was the one distracted by Jehu.
The elder brother's antics usually led to Johan having a rude attitude and sassy, snippy comebacks that forced Haou to separate them while playing peacemaker. Which is when Jehu is forced to open up his own assignments. On some nights it was a complete and utter disaster. Others, it wasn't too bad.
Both children were rather bright for their age. And when they knew what they were doing, didn't even need assistance. The two of them determined to finish it on their own to receive praise. Resembling their elder brother quite a bit in that regard.
Now that he thought about it there were actually a lot of similarities between the Anderson twins and their older sibling. Of course that probably had to do with the fact that they were always together.
Their father, whom Jehu hated apparently was never around to take care of the twins. It was always the eldest son to take responsibility while his mother worked. He recalled hearing about the missing Anderson not too long ago actually.
'Checking out my photos are you?' Jehu left him for two minutes to grab something to drink, and already he was getting himself into trouble. 'Do you mind?' The main reason he was visiting today was to get his boyfriend's damn room cleaned.
He's always had a problem with the clutter and trash lying around before finally saying enough was enough. Effectively finding lost treasure along the way. 'No. I'm just surprised you found my photo album. I lost that years ago.'
Haou bit back a comment as he rolled his eyes, but his lover read his exasperated expression loud and clear. It probably wouldn't have gotten lost in the first place if Jehu just picked up his shit. Still, this gave Haou the opportunity to look into his boyfriend's past.
'You look just like the twins, minus the eyes.' It was scary with how much they resembled one another. Were it not for the bright orange irises Haou would've thought it Was one of the twins. 'No way. I was cuter.'
He sat down then, effortlessly pulling Haou onto his lap, resting his head on the other's shoulder so they can look at the pictures together. 'Sure you were.' Haou always liked the ideas of pictures. Having a physical reminder of special moments in time.
Remembering priceless stories or people. Though his parents weren't ones to bother, Yami and Yugi loved pictures, always ready to capture a funny or precious historical event. It was probably why Yoko always insisted on having a camera on her twenty-four seven.
Haou was especially grateful at getting a glance at his boyfriend's past. Seeing things he never had a chance to before. 'Who's this?' It was a family photo from the looks of it. Jesse and Johan were still infants, one held by Jennifer, and the other held by a man with short blond hair and moss green eyes.
Eyes that paled in comparison the to the infants. Jehu's arms tighten a tad around his boyfriend's waist as he answers. His voice was low, lips barely suppressing a growl. 'My father.' His tone said enough for Haou to drop the subject.
Choosing to instead lay comfortably against a firm chest as he continues going through the pictures. Commenting here and there as he saw the boy he loved become the man he is today. The bluenette stayed quiet the whole time with a small smile.
Remaining in that position for a good ten minutes before the brunette felt a kiss against his neck. 'You know you don't have to worry about hurting my feelings.' The book was gently shut and placed on the desk above them, Haou maneuvering around firm arms to do such.
Their faces inches away from one another. 'There are some wounds that should remain sealed. I don't want to push boundaries.' Amber glanced down, a mixture of sadness and guilt as they moved towards his covered arms.
'It's only fair that you should know. I've hardly told you anything about me.' Haou shook his head, taking Jehu's hands into his own. 'That's not how love works.' You don't have to feel obligated because of a mistake or accident. Haou believed in that, and forgave the hopeless romantic ages ago.
In general he felt that what happened was what needed to be done, but that was because Haou was different. Jehu's pain wasn't like his, and it shouldn't be confessed because of guilt. His father was a sore topic. Obviously.
it didn't take a rocket scientist with how often he comes to the Anderson house that the older man was out of the picture. The reaction Jehu had showed that it wasn't a simple story either. 'But I want to...just, don't tell mom? She still hasn't really moved on.' So that's what they do.
Haou hugging his beloved while listening patiently to the emotions Jehu's kept to himself the last two years. Tears fall down his face as he buried his face into the smaller boys' shoulder. Unable to forgive the man he once respected and idolized.
"Are you doing anything for Valentine's day Haou?" He raised an eyebrow as Jessie fidgeted in his seat, raising some red flags. The twins, much to Jennifer's surprise took to Haou and Jehu's relationship rather well...but then again they already considered Haou family.
So it wasn't really a bother to them. "Why do you want to know?" Johan grins from across the table. Haou being right in between the two for moments like this. "Jessie has a crush at school~ He wants to ask him out!" Those pale cheeks just turned a harsh rouge as the boy glares at his brother.
Not at all appreciating the teasing. "Shut up you jerk!" This was news to the teen, and for a minute could only blink as he watched the two for once start insulting each other. But their argument was growing tiresome and unnecessary very fast.
Crossing his arms, Haou cleared his voice, forcing their mouths to clamp shut. "Now Johan. It wasn't nice to tease your brother. And Jesse you don't call people mean names." With a sulk the two apologize to each other, before then apologizing to Haou.
He easily accepts it, getting to the original root of the conversation. "Do you like someone Jesse?" The seven year old twirls his fingers around, unable to meet the elder's gold eyes. "Yeah. His name is Jaden. He's my best friend, he's really nice and funny." Oh boy, Haou couldn't help but shake his head.
"Hey you didn't answer Jesse's original question!" Now it was Haou's turn to blush, thankfully not as red. Now more than ever Haou ever regretted thinking Jehu being sick was a good thing because now he was dealing with two very curious(one of the two desperate for help on love) children.
So much for a simple tutoring night..."W-well uh. Jehu is taking me to the school dance. I'm not really interested in dancing but he and Alexis insist on it." It was not going to go well, this he already knew.
His strengths lied with academics, he was a anti-social hermit up until September for Gods sake. How the eldest Anderson son and Alexis thought having him dance was a good idea he'll never know. All he knew was he was going to be uncomfortable.
And probably stepping on his partner's feet a lot and that's IF they get him on the dance floor. "An-anyways what brought this on?" Johan still had the grin on his face, this time not saying anything.
"I...I want to tell him how I feel but I don't want him to be weirded out. He's pretty dense which is making it harder." The poor kid. And poor Haou, because he himself wasn't at all sure what to say. Since when did people come to HIM of all people for advice?
Still he couldn't say no to Jesse's desperation. He trusted Haou and hoped for something to relieve the anguish he was feeling inside. Resting his head on his hands he decided to do what he did best, think. Analyzing all he knew in the hopes of reaching a proper answer.
But this wasn't like studying for an exam or looking for facts though. Jesse's answer needed sincerity, something from the heart. Which...he wouldn't say was his forte. Still, he had to try. So he speaks his mind, and both listen attentively to the elder boy's reply.
"I'm sure if your brother was down here, he'd tell you to wait till your older. Actually I think Jehu would be the better person to talk to about this. But... perhaps you should just ask him what he feels for you. Test the waters a bit and see where that leads. You don't Have to ask him out right now. Even if he doesn't understand now, it doesn't mean he can't later."
It was the best he could do considering his lack of experience. Just from Jesse's reaction he could tell this was a deep crush, one that couldn't or rather-wouldn't go away with time. And like Jehu, he feels that Jesse was a bit too young to worry about romance.
Right now he didn't even Want to get into the fact that it was a relationship like his and Jehu's. Though their friends and family offered genuine support for the couple(hell his uncles were in the same boat and understood their obstacles) there were many out in society that were not so accepting of homosexual couples.
Many children were raised in families where the parents are male and female. So the concept of two male parents or two female ones was considered odd. Those that don't understand would react negatively for the most part. And that was something that worried Haou.
He's never cared what people thought of him from years of suppressing his emotions, but that didn't work for just anyone and everyone. You can't just shut off your feelings to block out someone's cruel words. Jesse especially was a sensitive kid, when he wasn't up to mischief with Johan he wore his heart on his sleeve.
Shutting down when someone was mean to him or people he cared about. Johan supported his brother's crush, having no qualms about it, just like when Haou and Jehu got together. He had a bit of a temper and had no issue being just as mean when threatened.
Their dynamic worked well, and Haou could only hope they would have each other's backs as they grew older and more different from one another. "Thanks Haou." Already the younger twin felt much better about himself, and his feelings. "I still say you should talk to Jehu."
Johan stuck his tongue out at the thought. "No way, he'll just tease him! That's what he did when school started, and he thought Jesse's crush was a girl." Light footsteps were heard coming from outside the dining area door.
"How was I supposed to know? You brats never tell me anything." With a sniffle Jehu shuffled into the room. Looking just as miserable as he's been the last few days. His nose a bright cherry red, puffy eyes, and over all just sick.
He came down to get some tea, not wanting to bother Haou for a change just in time to hear the little discussion going on between them. Frankly he thought his boyfriend handled that quite well despite looking like a bright red tomato.
It was nice to see him fluster~ "For the record I agree with everything Haou said. If this Jaden kid doesn't get the hint ask him when your older. Like way older." Pushing back his seat, Haou stood up, giving his boyfriend a deadpanned expression.
"Back to bed with you." Jehu was tempted to plant a peck on his cheek, but he didn't want to risk him catching it, instead taking a kettle out of the cabinet. "I just came down to make some tea. I'll go back to bed when I'm done." Jesse and Johan took that as their cue.
Giving one final thank you to Haou before putting their books away. They ran to their room so they could start getting ready for bed. Having eaten dinner long before they started their homework session. "I seem to recall awhile back a certain someone not letting me out of bed when I wasn't feeling well."
Which was all fine and dandy as Haou looked about ready to yell. Albeit with Jehu grinning, not at all concerned as he set up the stove. "Unlike you Haou i've learned to take care of myself. And I'm not dealing with a migraine on top of that. But if you want to play doctor I'm all for it." He was being so cheeky.
Haou couldn't find it in him to be mad at this though. Jehu for the most part has been staying in bed. And this was the most personality that he's shown since getting sick. Sighing Haou checked the latter's temperature, relieved to find it not boiling hot like before.
"About time the medicine kicked in." He wasn't back to normal, but he was getting there. "Doing a check up on me? I'm more than willing to strip." That comment earned him a smack on the shoulder.
Totally deserved. "Make your tea and go. I'll be heading out soon." Now that caused Jehu to pout. "Why? Don't you love me anymore?" There really wasn't a reason for Haou to stay at his house nowadays.
Dust was actually accumulating with how little he was there. And that was one of the reasons why he needed to head out. Cleaning had to be done. "Haou it's pitch black outside, and you still don't have a car. Just stay over." Any other time he would happily just spend the night, but the dust and crap needed to go.
"Uh uh! Hands where I can see them." He received another smack, the guilty hands just barely under Haou's shirt. "Nice try, but no. There'll be no kissing sessions with you being sick." Jehu couldn't wait for this cold to go away, he was going through bad cuddle and make out withdrawals.
Even more he couldn't seduce his boyfriend into listening to him. Jehu was amazed he was never kidnapped with how often his lover walked around at night. Had he no self-preservation? "Finnnneeee. But still just spend the night. Mom wouldn't want you going out with how late it is either."
The kettle screamed, causing Jehu to grumble under his breath. Allowing his boyfriend to slip on his coat, disregarding his concern completely. Only to tilt his head when the doorbell rang. "Expecting anyone Jehu?" His feet carry him through the halls, just barely hearing his faint no.
That piqued the brunette's interest as he reached the door. He was going to head out anyway, might as well answer. "Hello. May I help you?" There standing there was a man he's never met before, but recognized straight away.
"Uh...Hello. Is Jennifer or Jehu Anderson home?" It was somewhat hard to see as it was dark out, but the man before him was dressed in a police uniform, his badge gleaming in the porch light. His green eyes scanning Haou from head to toe. It was Daniel Anderson. Jehu's father.
To be continued
Author Notes: Daddy Anderson is here~ And Jehu is NOT going to be happy. It's going to be up to Haou to see what happens next. Either leave and let a murder happen or play peacemaker...we all know what's going to happen but any ideas on where to hide a body?
