A/N: The final chapter of Season 2, it's a good one, trust me. Then I take a short break before we travel to I-Island for the Two Heroes movie, a five-part adventure with a few... alterations. Review Time!

To Murtaito: I personally liked the episode displaying their flawed characters but it just kinda infuriated me that Midoirya never tried to rise to the challenge. But with Yuki, I wanted to show how much of a positive impact she had on Midoriya's growth. As for Bakugo, as it was planned, Yuki got him to chip away at his stubbornness, even if just a bit.

Enjoy.

Chapter 32 - Our Paths Too Perfectly Cross

"The exams were over, what once weighed heavily on everyone for half the week had lifted, there was still uncertainty in the air and of the results left to be told, but Class 1-A was back in high spirits, or most of them anyway," Viral's monologue was only proven accurate by the sobbing ahead of himself and his Host. "Ahh, nothing like depression with a touch of animosity to start the day."

"You just like the sound of your own voice, don't you?" Akio's response into his hand drew an eerie silence. "Old man."

"Shut up."

Mina was crying before Izuku, Sero, and Yuki, the trio unable to formulate a proper response, the dark blue wave of sorrow resting over them evidence of their combined mood. "e-everyone, I-I'm look-looking forward to-to hearing h-how fun summer c-camp was!" She was falling apart, the stone-faces on the guys behind her was enough to warrant Yuki's frown as she pulled Mina close, the pink girl sobbing into the mute's chest as she patted her back.

"Hey, they might end up letting you go, there might be a last-minute twist or something." Izuku tried to rationalize their woes but a sharp brow from Yuki and a hand from Sero pushed that false hope back down

"Stop it Midoriya, by saying that out loud you're just jinxing them." Sero got lucky thanks to Shoji stepping in to save him before the gas could knock him out

Kaminari was reaching a tipping point, head low while his world fell apart, "He said whoever failed the exams would have to skip training camp and live in summer school hell," Then his shoulders tensed. "We didn't pass the practicals so we're doomed!" With a flash, he spun around, arm drawn back. "Don't you get it Midoriya!?"

The rest came out rather incoherent to Yuki and Izuku while she pried Mina off her chest to aid her boyfriend now jabbed in the eyes. She had to be the big sister in this situation like the nice girl, Kendo from Class 1-B. Promptly removing Kaminari's fingers from Izuku's eyes while he covered his face, trying to recover.

| Not even my nanomachines can fix that |

"ATLEAST BRING US BACK LOTS OF CAMP SOUVENIRS PLEASE!?" Kaminari begged and probably threatened while Yuki helped Izuku sit down at his chair while taking her own beside Jiro, the girl mulling over something judging by the stern look on her otherwise aloof face

The door immediately slid open, causing the pandemonium to silence itself with a few shuffling chairs. "Once the bell rings you should be in your seats." Mr. Aizawa's presence was enough to silence his class as he entered, taking his place at the podium. "Morning, unfortunately, there were a few of you that did not pass your final exams, so when it comes to the training camp in the woods-"

"Cue the deception in, three, two, one-" Yuki slowly counted down with her fingers

"-Everyone is going!" The most lively face the grim man ever wore and it still gave Yuki the chills, he just doesn't smile, that's a fact

"IT'S A LAST-MINUTE TWIST!" Those that failed realized

"Wait, we really get to go to camp!?" Kirishima couldn't believe it, neither could Mina with tears stinging her eyes

"Seriously!?"

"Yeah, the good news is none of you bombed the written exam, four failed the practical badly, two teams, of course, allow me to explain," Mr. Aizawa then brought up a few collective recordings from every examination. "In the practical battles, the teachers ensured there was a way to win otherwise you never would have stood a chance, even with the added weights,"

"We were interested in observing how each of you worked together and approached the task at hand," The last shot was of Yuki dive-bombing her Mom into the ground like a crimson hawk, while another screen displayed the fifteen percent punch from Izuku to All Might

"But wait, didn't you promise the teachers wouldn't be holding back?" Ojiro inquired, though again, Mr. Aizawa had played them

"That was just to get you on edge, the training camp will focus on building your strength, those that failed need those lessons the most, we were never going to separate you," For the second time today he flashed them his toothy smile, eyes laced with his deceptive antics. "That was just a logical deception we used!"

"A LOGICAL DECEPTION!?"

Yuki's eye twitched, then she stomped a foot onto her desk, glaring daggers at the man with her finger jutting toward him. 'ARE YOU SERIOUS WITH THAT SHIT AGAIN!?' He shrugged but noted she wasn't alone

"Mr. Aizawa this is the second time you've lied to us, aren't you afraid we'll lose faith in you!?" Iida shot his hand high, and Yuki nodded with both cheeks puffed out angrily. Izuku just sat there and stared at them both, more importantly how defensive Yuki became at the lie

"She must really hate it when she's not told everything..."

"That's a good point, I'll consider it," The Eraser Hero wasn't phased externally. "But I wasn't lying to you about everything," His eyes locked to the four failed students. "Failure is failure, we've prepared extra lessons for the four of you-" Just like that the atmosphere shattered like stone, and their bright and cheery expressions fell apart. "-frankly they'll be alot tougher than what you would face in summer school."

From that point on the rest of Class 1-A's day went by without a hitch.

"Hey, mute?" With a twirl on her heel, Yuki came face-to-face with the ticking time-bomb that totally has a thing for Ochaco, Dumb-Dumb. As to their usual greetings, he wore his scornful expression but it wasn't as vicious as other times, hands in his pockets while standing before her. "You know something about Deku's power, don't you?" She froze a little. "The way he copied your moves, even how he aggravated me during the exam to the point I actually worked with him, you're involved."

'Secrets are secrets, so what if I knew it's not like I blessed him with power, he just finds his own way to grow stronger, just like how you have your ways of improving as do I' Was the message between them. Sighing, Yuki offered a genuine smile. 'I'm glad you passed, it's not like you to lose just because you had to work with someone you hate'

Now that got a somewhat surprising reaction from him, it was merely a slight widen of the eyes before his scoff returned, he didn't shove past her and merely kept walking. Then another note flew into his view, his fingers catching it before he stammered. 'Bet Ocha was happy for you ;)'

"Go to hell you Mute Bastard!" That made her laugh as she slipped back into the classroom with a wink.

When she shut the door behind her she noticed her class was in high spirits about something, looking through the leaflets for their getaway for a week in the forest. She heard from All Might long before it was brought up and from the sounds of things it would be the perfect time for her to properly master or get close to mastering SIVA since it was all forests she couldn't exactly run rampant without a high concentration of metal to consume

"Hey, Yuki!" Blinking, the girl tilted her head as Kirishima, Hagakure, and Sero approached her. "We were all thinking about heading to the Mall since we got tomorrow off, Bakugo's even going!"

That again was surprising while she met Shoto's eyes. "Sorry but I visit my Mom on days off." She understood, giving a nod

'Say 'hi' to her for me, I'd really like to meet her sometime' In return, a small grin crossed his face before packing up his things

This may be the perfect time to acquire some items | For new augments I've been dwelling on | Making it possible for us to obtain sixty percent without backlash

Internally agreeing with SIVA's logic she gave a nod, exciting the trio as they dragged her into the plans and conversations before everyone departed. "It's strange, I've hung out with most of them but this was the first time we've planned something as a class." A pink blush crossed her pleasant smile. "Sweet!"

The Next Day...

The Mall was massive and crowded daily, several floors and interconnection bridges between them created a bountiful paradise for shopping. Yuki felt a little grateful now she came with her class, though she didn't move her mask from her face since it was still alot more people than what she was comfortable with.

With just a pair of black shorts, white and blue sneakers, and a light blue T-Shirt with a white Logo stitched into it, Yuki slung her bag over one shoulder as the group stopped at an appropriate point in the center of the market.

"Oh man, I love this place! It's got a ton of different stores to shop at, and they're all super cool and hip!" Mina pumped her fist into the air as a few of their class admired the mall they never went to with the excitement bubbling around them. Again, lots of people so Yuki slowly magnetized herself to Izuku's side anxiously

Though she did have to poke at his freckles to get him to quit his muttering for both civilians and their classmates, Tokoyami having noticed. "You're going to scare the children, stop."

After snapping out of it, Izuku noticed how clingy Yuki was and how her head kept shifting between people. "Guess she's not used to this many people being so close, even after the Sports Festival." With a smile he took her hand in his, seeing her jolt and look at him, seeing the pleasant smile he offered, though he was starting to turn red himself

"Hey, aren't those UA students!?" Suddenly, a few passing shoppers took note of the group, drawing a few eyes their way. "Wow, UA!" "I saw them on TV!" "The Sports Festival was amazing!"

Ocha scratches her cheek. "I'm surprised they still remember that?" Beside her, Bakugo's brow twitched at the reminder but kept silent despite it

Many had their own interests in what they wanted to buy for the camp, factoring in missing items or necessities they might not have at home. For Yuki, her eyes locked to a store just on the second floor behind them, an electronic store, and from the scan, via SIVA it had the required materials she needed for her upgrades.

"Oh, you want to go to that store?" Izuku pointed to where she nodded. "I can wait down here if you want, I don't mind." While she found this large gathering of people unnerving she could manage alone, besides, it would only take a minute or so

'Sure' Then she poked Akio's shoulder, seeing him bend his neck back to view her. 'I know you, me, and Kyoka agreed to shop together but I gotta make a detour'

"Sure, we'll be with Yaomomo looking for some heavy-duty bags anyway." With that agreement, Kirishima drew all eyes and ears to himself

"So why don't we split up and look around, we can meet up here when we're done?" It was probably best given that they hadn't all day to wander together as a group

"Great idea!" Mina voiced the vote for everyone

"Perfect, let's say we're all back around three?"

"RIGHT!"

Within seconds it was just Yuki and Izuku standing hand-in-hand. Nervously the emerald-haired boy blinked. "U-Um, guess it's just u-us, huh?"

'No time to waste I suppose' Pulling away she gave a wink. 'Be back in a few, don't get lost' She enjoyed the blunt look he gave her

"I'm not a child," She rolled her eyes and took off up the steps, leaving him to sigh and sit down on his own. "Now lets see, I definitely want a new suitcase, preferably one that offers alot of space for a decent price, I also got take into account what essentials I'll need, both for day and night and possibly during training..." His muttering soon turned to a swirling storm of text around him

That one on the right, middle shelf | The box to your left, two across, top row | And those cables, color doesn't matter

"Want me to go into debt?" Yuki rolled her eyes, picking up the parts and stuffing them into her basket. She had quite the collection and for an affordable price but it did add up in the end, all for her augmented needs. Paying is awkward since, you know, wearing a mask

While paying for her stuff, Yuki hadn't realized she was being watched.

"Look-look, it's her again!" Blinking, Yuki turned just after paying for her things and found an unexpected sight. Two girls with short, red hair, a little scruffy, and the eldest of the two had a fang poking out from her lip with predator-like eyes and even her ears were pointy. The youngest looked to only have the eyes and ears but no fangs in her child-like smile

It was the two girls from Hosu, the ones she saved from Kovik's minions. Kneeling down to their eye-level, the youngest move closer, practically buzzing with excitement as the heart rate increased for the eldest, her expression fixed with awe, just like Yuki and Nana when they watched the news about Pros, even Yuki's Mom today. It was a glimpse into the past she'd never expected to have.

"You were so cool! There were like thousands of them and you were like, 'bam', 'pow', 'bang-bang'! Then-then that boy shot all that ice everywhere, and I was like, 'woooow'!" The youngest started mimicking her attacks goofily, her older sister nervously biting her lip before bowing her head

"T-thank you for saving us!" Noticing this, the youngest followed suit quickly, out the corner of her eye, Yuki noticed a parent watching from the side of the store warily. Yuki for her part was blushing under her mask, never realizing how... moving it was, hearing this from a different perspective, it made her chest tighten with pride

Slowly, she brought her hands up to ruffle their heads, eyes blinking up at her curved eyes, the sight indicating to them she was happy to hear that, a note then passed between them. 'I'm just happy you two are okay, from one older sibling to another, I know what it means to want to protect your family' The note made the older one slowly smile bashfully, her sister hugging her side

Not long after the two returned to their Mother, the woman gazing back at Yuki gratefully with a bow before leading her children along. For Yuki's part, she leaned over the side of the railing, spotting Izuku talking with someone in a black hoodie. "So, that's what it feels like, to save someone?" Her heart was still beating, and her soul felt like it was on fire-

Midoriya is in danger | That is no stranger | Identity confirmed to be... Tomura Shigaraki

The second she heard 'danger' drew her eyes back to the man below, now that she looked closely, he was trembling, trying to hold his composure. What stopped her heart were the four out of five fingers touching his throat tentatively, the other wavering between the air and Izuku's skin.

"How touching, you really are a hero in their eyes," A voice chimed in, catching Yuki by surprise. "Well... for a no-good thief that is."

Yuki froze on the spot, the familiarity of a deathly cool metal grazing her neck as she tried to make a move. Like thunder, her heart pounded in her chest as her eyes met crimson once more, like blood to the sky. He lowered the blade, letting it disintegrate between them. What made her heart beat with pride had turned to adrenaline in seconds.

"Make a move and I'll cut down more people than my Fallen ever could, I may be a scientist but I can still fight," Kovik sneered mockingly at the girl, her eyes locked under her mask, teeth grinding together. "Don't worry, no one will die so long as you and the boy remain cooperative, I simply wish to talk, Thief."

'I have a name, Kovik, it's Yuki Azuru, or do you prefer Aksi-' Her note was crumpled and his sharp nails clung to the edges of her mask, seeing the lights dilate in the optics. His glare behind his mask only paired with the chilling release of steam

"...Fine, Azuru the Thief, let me ask you a question of my own. What do you believe is the reason I hunt for SIVA? Why I chase its evolutionary abilities?" His words were cold but the two leaned on the railing, Yuki's eyes leaving Izuku briefly to catch Kovik's

'You want to rebuild your kind, to fix the failure due to someone just like me, right?' He didn't expect such an accurate reply, though he assumed it was down to his frantic anger that night, the stress had reverted to pungent, undriven hatred that cost him his strongest body. 'But you lost SIVA when you arrived, and it bonded to me during the clash with a hero'

"I believed my failure to my master could be undone in a world ignorant to SIVA, that gateway brought another's eyes to mine, if I hated anyone more than you it's that... Renegade!" His fingers jabbed her shoulder, applying pressure to her skin. "Before I destroy this world I will kill him..." His fingers relaxed. "But, my goals will never change, I will make Aksis, the real one proud, I will rebuild what we lost to Darkness, where greed tainted our pride, twisted our weapons against one another."

He stepped away from her, arms flashed wide with a bright gaze under his hood. Yuki had never seen such devotion and courage in a villain before, it was like All Might, his desires and convictions were his truth down to the bone. Every fiber of his being resonated with a powerful drive to succeed, to do what no other could muster. In a way, she could see it, how their paths crossed but their journeys were toward separate causes, he wished to save his kind, and Yuki her own. One wished to destroy the other while another would protect.

"Don't you see it? With SIVA in my hands, I can perfect our failures, rebuild what was lost to us centuries ago!" He closed his fist, a maddening look in his mask. "I will remake our pride into what it was before, cure the sickness pretenders and fanatics claimed to be truth! I will save them all, not as a fanatic or false God, I do what I must for the Kell that saved me from stagnation."

Yuki finally stopped trembling, pinching her palms with her nails while moving off the bar, standing before her enemy just as devoted in a cause she would fight for and die to keep, the measure of the sacrifices she was willing to bear. Even if the people around them didn't know it, they shared a goal that would bind them forever.

'And I will sacrifice whatever it takes to stop you, to protect the ones I love and the world that deserves to thrive' Was her answer to his devotion. He lowered his arms, pointing behind him as Yuki caught the glimpse of Akio and Jiro watching from the bridge, the latter with her phone out

"I guess this is the last we will speak, Azuru, maybe indefinitely, however," He stood straight, turning to walk away. "If we cross paths again, we will see what each of us is truly made of." Yuki didn't want to take her eyes away from Kovik, encase by some thin margin he would lash out, carve bloody ribbons of the innocent lives around them

But just as meaningful, if she let him escape now, it could mean disastrous things in the future, she could never tell when or how he would strike. It wouldn't be hard, just strike now, warp him and her away from civilians and keep him busy until Pros showed up. All she had to do was attack and grab, she could do this!

Her eyes glanced from the vanishing cloak in the crowd to her friends on the walkway moving with haste for the ground floor. Then to Izuku, stuck by Shigaraki's hand, one finger and he would - "Why... why can't I do both!? Why!?" Her blood felt like it was freezing, and her heart bobbed between her chest, stomach, and throat in a painful swing of beats

| Because you're human |

Yuki, without thinking, dived over the banister with a single push of SIVA between her toes. In seconds she rolled down before the frightened Izuku, lips dry, wanting to speak out. Then there were the pair of eyes between waxy locks of light blue hair staring up at her dully. Without another moment to lose, Yuki drew her cutlass from a few clusters she stored in her bag, leveling the tip of the fine edge to the scumbag's throat, eyes snapped to slits.

'Let. Him. Go' Carefully she turned the page between her nails. 'Otherwise, you'll lose your fingers before you so much as graze his neck'

He retracted his hand with a faked smile of innocence. "Oh, you're here with a friend, I didn't know! Sorry about that." She saw the game he was playing, forcing Yuki to poise her blade lower, allowing him to stand. "You can be quite annoying, both of you really get on my nerves, bet you think you can kill me, don't you, hero?"

Yuki cracked her neck, she noticed a few odd stares their way. 'I've suffered far worse than a few corroded limbs, now back off'

Izuku wasn't done, moving back from the villain's reach. "Tell me... Shigaraki, what does All For One want?" He demanded, clutching his throat as though it had already opened up. The madman simply tucked his hands into his hoodie's pockets with a scowl

"Who knows really," He then leveled his scornful eyes to the pair and the girl's sword. "But here's a little word of advice friend, be careful, the next time we meet I'll likely have to kill you both."

Just then, a flash of red particles gathered around Shigaraki, Kovik's hand placed on the tempered man-child's shoulder. "I think we overstayed our welcome, the Pros are coming-" Just then, Jiro and Akio came into view, the latter's arm beginning to warp and turn blacker than nightfall. "-Until then, Azuru, Midoriya, keep failing." The strange, wispy energy gathered around their bodies again, distorting their forms

"And..." Izuku coughed, rubbing his neck while facing the villains next to Yuki, his hand clasped in hers. "We'll never stop trying."

With their final words, the pair of villains vanished without a trace, opting Yuki to deconstruct her blade, Jiro and Akio joining them with equal amounts of worry, though Akio's eyes shifted between green and magenta.

"Sorry, I can't find them, they completely warped out of the area." It was over as quickly as it began

Kyoka reported the incident and the mall was temporarily closed. Even with a massive sweep by police, heroes, and even Akio under Viral's shroud couldn't trace where they may have warped to or in which direction. Later that day me and Izuku got taken to the police station to be asked for a detailed report on Kovik and Shigaraki's conversations.

Outside the station, Yuki sat with her back to the wall, her Mom would arrive to pick her up soon, skipping out on her patrol with another agency, it was rather embarrassing for the girl as she had it on speaker for All Might to hear. In the end, it was only a matter of waiting for Izuku's briefing.

"You handled yourself really well, young Azuru," His words were to ease her mind, but he saw it in her mask, she wasn't worried about the talk, rather, her lack of action. He put a hand over her head, ruffling her hair. "Don't worry yourself, I know it must have been hard, to act on your instincts or your head."

'I froze' Her words kept him still as she flipped it with her head down. 'I actually contemplated chasing Kovik over Izuku, the person that means the world to me... why?' Then the aged hero saw it, the glistening tears dripping down her chin as she trembled under his hand

All Might hated it, hearing her whimper under the stress of her own emotions. It wasn't hard to remember that everything Yuki had become today was stacked atop so many emotions, anguish, self-loathing, and grief. This was a girl that could break at any moment, and one he swore he'd protect where Akame could not.

Without a word he pulled her head close, resting it against his chest while patting her head as she sobbed silently, hand trying to wipe away her tears under his protective hand. "Don't beat yourself up, young Azuru, I understand it can't be easy, knowing if you should follow your heart or your head when lives are on the line, all you can do is live with the choice you make, to follow through on your actions instead of taking none at all."

She nodded her head, pulling back to wipe her tears before slipping her mask back on. 'Sorry, I'm a mess right now' It wasn't his burden but she just needed to let some of her pent-up emotions out healthy for her sake. The skeleton man just put a thumb to his chest with a grin

"You forget, I'm a hero with or without my power, and I'll always be here if you need someone to listen." That was more than just a vow to a student, but to an amazing pupil

Behind them, the backdoor opened up, revealing it to be Izuku, one police officer, and All Might's best friend, Tsukauchi. Upon meeting their gazes, Izuku jogged out to greet his mentor and girlfriend, the latter still staring off into space with unblinking eyes, the masks flicker the only animation on her mask.

"All Might, what are you doing here?"

"I needed to talk to him anyway," Tsukauchi replied, meeting with the trio while All Might patted his successor's head with relief

"I'm so glad you're okay, I'm sorry I couldn't be there to protect you and the others, though, from young Azuru's report you both handled yourselves carefully which is a relief," Izuku blinked at his words, eyeing Yuki, and again, she did not so much as budge, even as he looked to her worryingly

"It's fine," He replied, but from the steady look in Izuku's eyes, it was clear to All Might that the events still carried a heavy burden just as Yuki felt herself. "Um, All Might?"

"Yeah, what is it?" He kept a calm, assuring voice as the boy lifted his gaze to him

"Do you ever have times... when you can't save all the people that you want to?" It was a burdening question on his mind since meeting Shigaraki, confronting the man that spawned numerous events and would continue to do so. Izuku realized it then, the gravity of the future ahead of him and his friends, the fight that may inevitably ensue

All Might looked to consider it a moment, eventually lowering his head directly at his pupils, one of which remained with their eyes facing back toward the end of the narrow pathway. "Yes I do, and often," The Symbol of Peace lifted his eyes to the sky, dwelling on the day he failed to save someone, a person that he was too rash and too weak to save, and the smile that managed to adorn their face in that last moment when he could barely crack a grin.

"Someone could be injured and calling out for help anywhere in the world right now and I would never know about it, I know it's frustrating but we're only human, there will always be people beyond our reach that we can't protect," It was the reality of their world, what grounded realism with the comic-book-like world they lived in. "But that's all the more reason to stand tall and smile, so the symbol of justice is always there even when I can't be, a flicker in people's hearts, whether they be a hero or a villain."

With that, Yuki finally turned, even as three people approached from afar she didn't care, hearing those words, remembering her choices, it all mattered because she chose to make a stand, to keep the hope that flourished in the innocent today alive. That's something people like Kovik want to snuff out for selfish goals.

"Y-Yuki?" Izuku blinked, immediately being pulled into a tight hug from the girl as she only embraced him tighter. She made her choice, and it was worth it, for her it meant everything. Slowly, his smile crossed his face as he reciprocated her hug just as tightly. "I can't say what I chose today was the right motive," He began, holding the girl he cared for securely, not minding who heard him. "But no matter what I'll work so I can keep that spark alive for everyone I care for,"

Behind them, Akame put a hand on the trembling, older woman's shoulder, assuring her with a smile, mouthing, 'just listen' to the worried mother. "I know I break myself, get myself wrapped up in dangerous situations time-and-again, I can't imagine how much I make everyone worry for me, how much pain I put my Mom and you through, Yuki." Her head bowed into his shoulder, closing her eyes. "But I will become a hero, one that can give the world hope, even if people like Kovik and Shigaraki want to snuff it out, I'll do what I can, I will be strong so that no one has to worry about me, I will win... I will save people."

"He always sounds like All Might when he talks like that," Yuki smiled, her heart beating faster.

The embodiment of a warrior | The spirit of a hero | The heart of a champion

Meeting each other, the entrance exam, to the fitness test, the combat training, the USJ Incident, the Sports Festival, our internships, the Hosu Incident, and Kovik, then to end it all with our exams. In only three months we had gone through so much that would otherwise break most people, maybe in a way it has, in small pieces but somehow we held strong.

Summer is near, but somehow relaxation is a luxury for us, but that's fine. I've had alot of time to consider where I am and who I want to become, for the family I lost and gained, the friends I share, the secrets we keep for the good of others, the hopeful future for my little sister, and the darkness looming over me and SIVA. This is only the first step, and there's alot I'm not sure I'll survive on my own.

I'm okay with that because I am not alone. By hook or by crook, I will become a hero. Bet on it.

To Be Continued in Season 3...
