-Chapter 36-

-Shelby pov-

Today is the first Halloween in New York. Thanks to Madison and some others schools were canceled for today. So we've had a bunch of time together and a bunch of diapers to change. It's been a fun day honestly.

The girls have had fun and so have us adults. We are getting ready for the parade currently. We wanna go see it then go trick or treating. It's more for Abby and Beth though. The girls are getting dressed up at least.

Kate is also hanging out with us. Carole and Amanda were doing something. I'm trying not to meddle in their business. It better that way.

"Mom!" I turn and go wide eyed "We agreed on costumes but I think...well we may need a quick change"

"Is my belly too big?" Maribel starts getting teary eyed "I'm fat!"

"No!" I pull her, the best I can, into a hug "We just need to make adjustments to your costume"

We break apart in time to see Santana "Don't" She pouts "I'm being big right now so I can be big at the parade and I'm trying to stay good!"

"You look adorable as" I bit back a laugh "You look beautiful as Daisy"

"Yeah San" Maribel struggles more not to laugh "Absolutely stunning"

She pouts more and we start laughing. Santana is going as daisy, Brittany as Donald, Rachel as Mickey, and Lucy as Minnie. I am going with Judy as Goofy and Clarabelle.

"I think my cow tail is too much" Judy walks in with the others and Maribel loses it more "Did we need to get something like this?"

"It's a small hole in the back" I walk over and give her a quick kiss "Now come one we are gonna be late!"

I grab Beth from the playpen and pull her Pluto hood down. Abby is matching with Madison and Emma. Good witch and wicked witch with Abby as Dorothy. I think we all did good planning out this year.

"Everyone ready?" Cass holds up van keys "I'm driving a van!"

"Perfectly" Maribel walks over and gives her a kiss "Your stitch ears are messed up"

"Your lilo shirt looks perfect" Maribel rolls her eyes "Thanks for going with this"

"No problem" Maribel smiles "Anything for my fiancé"

They share enough kiss that gets a gag "Stop it!" Jasmine pouts "It's disgusting...and I wanna be little"

Jasmine, Pamela, sugar, and Fran. One of my favorite couples. They surprised me with their choices. I think it was Pamelas idea.

Jasmine is Leia, Jasmine is Han, Sugar is Luke, and Fran..well Fran is the odd one. She was late to decide to dress up. So when we went through what we had she made a choice. A furry choice but a choice none the less.

"I kinda like this suit" Fran I think smiles behind her mask "It's nice and warm"

"Just try to warn us if you're going bathroom" She nods and I point to the garage "Let's go!"

Everyone rushes out and I look at mom "You old sitcoms handling the guests?" She nods "Have fun and let us know if you need more candy"

"Will do goofy" I smile and give her a quick hug "Love ya"

"Love ya mom" I let her go "Behave"

She rolls her eyes and I walk to the van. I hope in and make sure everyone is buckled. I start to back out but notice we are missing three musketeers. Literally three musketeers.

"Hey!" Sam runs out in the candy wrapper "We are coming!"

Soon grace comes out smiling with Kate. Grace and Kate talked Sam into the candy idea. Samantha is three musketeers, Kate is Hershey's, and grace is sour patch kids. It fits her attitude sometimes.

"Get in" I open the back sliding door and they hop in "Buckle up and let's go!"

They quickly buckle up and we finally leave. I hope Carole and Amanda are having a good time. I don't wanna be nosey but I do wander what they are doing. It seemed a bit planned.

-Carole pov-

I take a deep breath before walking into the restaurant. It looks so fancy! I feel so out of place here. But Amanda said it was nothing.

I flatten out my dress and look around the entrance. I have never been somewhere like this. My wedding had a nice reception hall but this..it's big! It's all so extravagant!

"Uh Miss?" I jump and see a hostess looking at me worriedly "Are you ok?"

"Yeah" I give a shy smile "I'm looking for my date...she said she had reservations and..wow this place is so huge!"

"We get that a lot" The lady smiles "Do you have a name that it's under?"

"Amanda Lewis?" She looks over the paper "I hope I didn't get her name wrong"

"No it's here" she looks at me with a smile "If you would follow me I can get you to her!"

I nod and the lady leads me away. The restaurant looks even better past the entrance. This place has to be expensive! Is this normal for a first date?

"This place is really nice" The lady nods and keeps walking "Like really nice"

"You'll be fine" She turns and gives me a smile "If she picked you then there is a reason for that! Take a deep breath and calm your nerves some"

I take a deep breath and focus on calming "Thanks" she nods and starts leading me again "I think I see her"

"Carole" We stop at the table and the lady walks away "Please sit down"

Amanda moves my chair back and when I sit she moves it back in. She sits across from me and picks up her menu. No hello or anything? Her hand is shaking...she's nervous too.

"Just get out of a marriage too?" Her hand stops "We both deserve better than rebounds"

"That's why I picked you" Her menu lowers and she smiles "I thought you'd be the better"

"Then let's talk and get to know each other" she nods with her pretty smile intact "I think this date will be lovely"

-Time skip-Shelby pov-

The parade was amazing and trick or treating hasn't been bad. We have one van going since everyone is walking. The pregnant trio are taking time to switch out. It's better than hearing complaints the whole time.

There's so many cool costumes around. Surprisingly good more Broadway costumes than I thought. Definitely is the amount of Spider-Man ones I thought there would be. But still amazing costumes.

"Uh oh" We stop and looking at Brittany who holds her stomach "It's going"

"Quickly to the van" I follow after her and we open the side door "Get in"

"I can't" soon the bottom white half of her costume is off and then you hear the gurgle "Uh oh"

I pick her up and get her inside "It's ok" I gently rub her stomach "You're alright"

The gurgles come and then the sound of release comes. Soon there's a bulge and smell following. I wait till she's done for sure and change her diaper. We get the duck bottoms on and get her back out.

"I eter" She smiles "Ank oo"

"No problem love" I point toward the girls "Go catch up!"

She runs ahead "Dont wanna say I told ya...but I told ya" I send a glare at Madison "Hey I'm just saying! She has been having stomach problems all week"

"But Halloween is her favorite besides all the other holidays" I look at Brittany as she hops happily "If she starts getting bad we can put her in here or send her home ok? I just don't wanna ruin this for her"

"It'll be fine" Madison smiles "Now get back out there goofball"

I roll my eyes with a smile. That's been their favorite nickname all day. I think it may stick even after. Here's to hoping it doesn't though.

I catch back up to them and we walk some more. The girls take turns taking up the little ones at the houses. It's been a great day honestly. Just Brittanys stomach trouble has called for some stops.

We have a doctors appointment set up for tomorrow. We hope it's nothing major. If it is we will treat it. None of our girls are going to be sick and miserable if we can help it.

"Hey Mom?" I look over at Rachel then notice some space has developed between us and the group "Is Brittany gonna be ok? She's been composing about her stomach since the night we..for a week"

"The night you did what?" Rachel looks away from me "Rachel if something happened we should know"

"We snuck out to a party that Lucy was invited to" I keep my anger at bay while she explains "We weren't gonna but then they started making fun of Lucy...we dragged her and Brittany to the party"

"What happens to Brittany?" Rachel looks down guiltily "Rach?"

"She drank so much and ate so much candy" Rachel shrugs "It could've been that"

"Thank you" She nods I swat her bottom hard "That's just a warning shot of what's coming at home!"

She nods and I sigh "You think she'll be ok?" I look at her and see fear in her eyes "Mom?"

"I think she'll be fine" I pull her into me "I think she just has some stomach bug or is having a reaction to the combination...we will take her to the ER tonight"

Rachel nods and I get her calmed down. Time is now ticking. Luckily we are finishing what we were gonna do. I send a quick text out and lead Rachel back to the group.

-Carole pov-

We laugh all the way to my car. Tonight was wonderful. She's made me feel so young. She's made me feel so cared for. I feel happy once again.

"So" Amanda looks at me shyly "Do...is there...could we possibly go on another date? I had fun and you seemed to have fun..you did have fun right?"

"I had a blast" I give her smile and nod "I would love another date"

"Cool" Before I know it we are kissing and then it's over "I..I'm gonna go home and plan our second date"

"Y-yeah" I walk into my car door and then open it "Yeah I'm..im gonna go home and wait"

She laughs and I smile. Tonight definitely was a good night. I hear my phone ding and look at it. I got a text from Shelby?

'Taking Brittany to E.R. Just finished trick or treating and need to get her help. Girls are being punished right now for sneaking out. Sorry for disturbing your happy evening just wanted you to know'

I text back a quick thanks and start up my car. I pull out and make my way out of the lot. Hopefully I can save the girls from dying. They need discipline but even the grands scare me.

-Time skip-Shelby pov-

We have been here for a hour now. They took Brittany back and we haven't heard anything! We don't know if she's alive or dead right now. I just keep pacing in the waiting room.

"Shelby you will make a streak in the carpet" I glare at Judy who puts her hands up in surrender "Just calm down ok?"

"Ok" I go to sit but soon James is there "James!"

"I saw the name and rushed in" He doesn't give us a happy smile like usual "She went into surgery"

"Why?" I share a confused look with my fiancés "It was candy and alcohol"

James shakes his head and sighs "They apparently didn't see everything she ate" He holds up a X-ray picture and points "This is a worm that was inside of her along with some sushi and other foods"

"But she's fine?" He nods "Can we see her?"

"I'm afraid not" He puts a hand up to stop any arguments "It's cause of the time not anything else..plus I don't think you all being subconsciously angry is good for her to see right now"

"You're right" Madison sighs "We can see her tomorrow?"

He nods and we leave the hospital. Judy stayed behind in the waiting room to make sure everything is fine. James is gonna find a way to let her sleep in the room. We wanted one of us there at least.

All I know is tonight will be a rough night.
