Chapter 36- Erica's Breakfast is Ruined

"Where are you two going in such a hurry?" Erica demanded to know as Myrtle and Skye headed to the front door.

"Skye's a little concerned about her mom," Myrtle said. "We'll be right back."

Erica groaned. "What about breakfast?"

"We will once we find Rae."

"I agreed to co-exist. But when we have plans for something, Myrtle, it's going to hurt if you just bail on me for one of them."

"Would you just shut up, Erica?" Skye snapped. "Someone is targeting my family. And he's probably going after my mom right this second. You're not even half the woman that she is. You're just a miserable, pathetic thing who gets off on people suffering as much as you—"

"Skye, enough," Myrtle said. "Erica, I will be back."

"I can't believe this," Erica said. "I agree not to talk down to Skye, yet here she is talking down to me after everything she's done to me."

"After everything I've done to you? You're no saint. What about when you kidnapped Maddie Grey and passed her off as your own!?"

Erica scoffed. "You're one to talk. You're the one who doctored the paternity test to make it look like Dimitri was the father because of your Edmund obsession!"

"Better than stealing a child from her mother!"

"But you basically stole a child from her father!"

"While you two seven-year-olds stay here and argue, I'm going to look for Rae," Myrtle said as she headed out to the porch.

"Look, just back off of my mother!" Skye said, then followed Myrtle outside.

Erica shook her head and went back to the living room, where she sank into the couch. Just how could Myrtle treat her this way?

Erica yanked her phone out of her pocket and called Opal.

"Opal, I really need to talk to you."

"Ereeka dear, how are yah?" Opal asked.

"Not good, Opal." Erica started to cry. "I was the daughter she never had, then this woman just shows up with her petulant child and completely hijacks Myrtle's life. I agree to be civil with them, but then after Kendall being completely horrid to me, I come to see Myrtle for love and support. I didn't even say mum when she left me to talk to Rae and Skye. I was being very patient. Then she promised to eat breakfast with me, and now Rae magically disappears, supposedly, and Myrtle has skipped out on me. She never did this before these creatures forced their way into her life. Ever. And Rae is a grown woman. She's been missing for all of five minutes and they're acting like she's been kidnapped or something."

"I know it's very hard to share, honey, and yah feel pushed aside. But Myrt is so happy to have them. I've never seen her so happy before. They've missed out on so many years together, it only seems natural she want ter focus on them. But what do yah mean Rae disappeared?"

Erica rolled her eyes. "They think someone is targeting Skye's family. Probably because Colby Chandler is missing. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if Skye took her somewhere herself!"

"Isn't her other granny missin' too?" Opal asked.

"Yes, I suppose she is," Erica said.

"And the fire might be connected. I would be concerned too."

"Then all the more reason Myrtle should come home with me. These women just bring bad news in every single way."

"But I think Myrt wants ter stay with them. They're makin' up for lost time, honey."

"Opal, you're not helping," Erica said.

"I know this is hard ter hear, but I think yah need to keep bein' civil with them for Myrt's sake."

Erica sighed. "I just wish my mother was here. She would make everything right. She'd know what to do with Kendall and I'm sure she wouldn't put up with Rae and Skye."

"That's where yah're wrong, honey. Mona would accept them with open arms. Would it help if we contacted her?"

"No, Opal," Erica said and rolled her eyes. "A séance won't be necessary."

"Just try ter get along with Rae and Skye and you might be surprised. And I'm always here when yah need ter talk."

"Thanks Opal."

The front door swung open and Skye walked in very pale and anxious.

"Try not to panic, dear," Myrtle said. "She probably went to the police station to see John."

"Either way," Skye cried. "She's either been kidnapped or she's dumping John. And either scenario is because of me!"

"She hasn't even been gone a half an hour," Myrtle said. "I'm sure she's fine. I will call the police station now." She headed to the kitchen to make the call.

"Don't you think you're overreacting to this?" Erica spoke up. "The police don't even consider an adult missing until it's been 24 hours."

"JUST SHUT UP, ERICA!" Skye shouted. "Why don't you just leave?"

"I'm not going anywhere," Erica said. "Myrtle is a second mother to me, and she doesn't deserve all this drama you're bringing her."

"Why? Because it's distracting her from all your drama?"

"One of these days Myrtle will wake up," Erica said. "She'll see that you and Rae are nothing but a burden and a disaster to her life. She was much better off not knowing her horrendous daughter—"

Skye suddenly jumped at her and tackled her to the couch. "You take that back!"

"I will not! Get off me!"

"Skye, get off her!" Myrtle walked back into the room.

Skye stood up and Erica smoothed out her hair.

"Did you get a hold of John?" Skye asked. "Is Mom there?"

Myrtle shook her head. "Neither of them are. John Sykes is in Port Charles working on the case. No one knows where Rae is."

Skye looked over at Erica, then lowered her gaze.
