A/N: I'm baaaack, five... very interesting parts to write, my wrist is going to demand a raise at this rate. My crippled hand aside. Time for the Two Heroes movie. Enjoy~
Chapter 33 - Movie, Welcome to Paradise
"No one has come to save you, have they?" A voice, strong and prideful, even so, a gentle tone laced their words, enough to excite a motion from me, my head craning back to face the shadow over me, blocking out the rain. "Or is it you do not wish to be saved?"
Two sentences and he had figured me out, even as I felt cold and lifeless I looked up at a strange ray of unfamiliarity before me, the word, I couldn't place it as a large hand sat between us, offered to me as my eyes finally broadened a little. "Even if this is the case, someone so young shouldn't be left out in the cold, let us talk someplace else."
On that day, I was saved from this cruel world, offered a chance to be there for others like me, to save them and pull them toward their dream. That day, even after so many years, remained at the forefront of my mind.
'I can't do it alright!' The note practically slapped All Might in the face, the young girl with light blue hair slumping up against the wall of the gym, her fingers cut with tiny knives while the red glow of invisible machines slowly repaired the damage.
"You can't say that now, look at all the progress you've made in only a month!" The skeletal man waved his arm wide to the now damaged training dummies, however, Yuki wasn't impressed, she wasn't fully recovered after using her power at ten percent, bandages hugged her body where SIVA gradually worked overtime
'Two Percent. I can't so much as use five without... static' Her hand flattened her bangs against her right eye, trembling at the sensation that clouded her mind. 'Just Four Percent is enough to...'
*Pat*
A gentle hand ruffled her hair, the one thing that offered her a sense of parental comfort, and one person she could trust herself near with the power she's hiding inside her. SIVA told her it was okay, but that wasn't enough, the day she loses control again, the last thing she wants is to hurt somebody she cared for.
"I get it," All Might began, staring down at his young pupil. "When I first received One For All it was so easy to control, I could change the weather with a single punch, bring down buildings with air pressure alone, this kind of power without control could very well do more harm than good," His first days learning to regulate his output was a challenge
"This is why I know you can control SIVA with time, it's hard, and the risks of overusing your power can tax your body's recovery as well as your mind," He moved his hand to lift the young girl's chin as to see his confident smile and glowing blue eyes. "With your power, you can become a hero, your own Symbol, I believe that..."
I could... become a hero... a symbol?
A constant, gentle shove to Yuki's shoulder slowly caused a stir in the mute, "...uki? Yuki, we're almost there - huh?" Izuku jolted as a hand lifted to pull him between his and All Might's seat, then he saw the glare between the bangs, causing his face to pale
'You may be my boyfriend but I will hurt you if you wake me up like that again' She disintegrated the note and let go, stretching with a silent yawn, rubbing one eye. "What a weird dream..." Something made the nanomachines inside her shiver akin to goosebumps, but she shrugged it off
"Look, we can see it, right there!" Izuku pressed his face to the window of the plane, All Might sliding over to view himself with Yuki poking her head between them, her lips forming an 'O' at the object in the distance. "The floating city that can move anywhere, home to over ten-thousand scientists, I-Island!"
An interesting foundation | Reminds me of the Replication Complex | Only less undead marionettes and more genuine innovation
Yuki smirked, poking at his cheek. 'You never cease to be adorable when you geek out' That slowly forced his cheeks to turn pink while All Might sat back with a chuckle at his students' antics, with Yuki prodding jokingly at Izuku while the boy stuttered
"I didn't realize you two would be this excited, I'm glad I invited you both," All Might drew their attention, Yuki resting her chin on her arms atop their seats
"Yeah, are sure it's okay I came along with you, it's not going to be a problem." Izuku was still trying to wrap his head around the evening his teacher offered him and Yuki a chance to go to this once-in-a-lifetime event
Yuki shared a similar expression, lips pursed. 'I mean, I'd thought you'd ask my Mom, she was so jealous whenever I told her too' Yuki would, for All Might's sake, leave out the ranting.
"Don't even think twice about it," He waved off their worry with a smile. "The invitation was clear and I'm welcomed to bring whoever I want as my guests."
Izuku wasn't convinced still, "But doesn't that usually mean a family member or-" A single finger silenced him alongside a knowing look on the hero's face
"I think you're forgetting the two of us are connected something far thicker than blood, Young Midoriya," Then he pointed to Yuki. "And lets not forget the years we've known each other and the troubles we've shared."
"Right!" Izuku smiled with Yuki nodding too, then the intercom went off above
~Attention passengers the plane will soon begin its descent to I-Island~
The duo watched as All Might stood up, zipping his head in every direction before sighing heavily, clenching his fist. "This is going to be monumentally exhausting..." Steam and muscle mass slowly took hold of his body. "Once we land and go out in public-" He threw back his brown trenchcoat, flopping it atop Yuki's head, making her deadpan under it with a slump. "-I must maintain my muscle form constantly - Erk!"
The piercing red eye under the edge of his coat leered toward the hero, Yuki throwing the coat down onto the chair beside her as she tapped an index finger on her crossed arms. "Haha, my apologize Young Azuru!" To quickly escape the tension and scary face the girl was showing he turned his gaze to Izuku. "Now, you both should change as well, you did ask UA if you could bring your hero costume, Young Midoriya?"
"Yes, I won't be long!" He quickly took off for the back of the plane with an energetic step, Yuki slumping back to her chair, a red outline crawling up her clothing, converting her preexisting outfit into her SIVA armor, slipping the mask back around to her face, the eyes flickering scarlet a moment, then another shiver in her systems
"What the...?" Lifting her right hand, she watched the black fabric peel back to reveal her hand, and she half-expected to find the cybernetics in-place of her flesh and blood. This was incorrect and it furthered her confusion. "This sensation, SIVA is something wrong?"
Hmm... I don't know | I felt something but I'm unsure of the sensation | It's not us, it may very well be all the technology present on the Island
Yuki nodded to herself and leaned to the side, watching the massive, floating city come closer, it was an odd mixture of excitement and anxiety. But she had her amazing teacher, the pragmatic SIVA, and her loveable partner too. That word, 'loveable' caused a flurry of butterflies in her chest, eyes slanted to the waters below.
"Love..." This wasn't new to Yuki, in-fact, ever since All Might invited them to I-Island, it was all Yuki could think about when she wasn't overly focused. Izuku was, and always will be someone special to her, the person that became her first real friend in so long, the quirky, stammering, mumbling fanboy that she had somehow grown close to, wanting more from him than just friendship, and now... she was back at a crossroads, and she still didn't know where to go, or what she was willing to risk to try all because of that one, four-letter word
She chuffed, shaking her head. "When did I become so girly?"
"Don't geek-out, don't geek-out, don't-" 'Izuku, hold me, I'm geeking out!' He could not as both flew toward the grand staircase leading away from the airport, both wore massive grins though only one was visible, but the duo shared a pair of wide eyes, Yuki's turning to stars with wonder and excitement
Like a whole new world stretched out before them. Technology and Quirks going hand-in-hand, thousands of residents and visitors for the I-Expo and Pros from around the world were present. From city blocks to facilities and even a mountain range on the horizon, just the fragment of the island alone was astronomical in scale and detail.
"I can't believe so many people are here already before the Expo is even open to the public," All Might proclaimed, but neither of his students were listening, too fixated on all the amazing attractions laid out before them
"The pictures of this place don't do it justice!" Izuku gawked with Yuki's enthusiastic node, their hands being the only thing to hold the two of them from leaving the other. The mountains sprayed water that soon converted into a welcome sign high above the buildings.
"Unlike back in Japan, people here are allowed to use their Quirks however they wish on this island, the pavilion is jam-packed with attractions and demonstrations, make some time for them later."
'You're kidding... how... how can we see all of this in a week!?' Yuki fell to her knees for a moment with animated tears in her eyes as a hand stretched out toward the city. 'It's a marvel of innovative technology and environmental progression, just this mere start point is but a fragment that even SIVA can't fundamentally understand within the few minutes we've been here!'
The note was by far the closest All Might had seen to Yuki muttering like Izuku, but she happily kept it brief. All Might then pulled up his phone as both came back down from Cloud-9. "Now let's see, the hotel should be nearby..."
"Welcome to I-Expo - huh?" The kind lady paused before the trio, immediately noticing who she addressed. Yuki's hand tightened nervously around Izuku's, himself noting her growing stiffness
Realizing what was about to unfold. Izuku remembered exactly what All Might said about Quirks. Clocking in just Five Percent throughout his body he quickly pulled Yuki into his arms without thinking and flew up and over the tsunami of people swarming the Symbol of Peace. Both gliding up and safely back onto the pavement as the green sparks fizzled away.
"That was close..." Izuku sighed, looking down to the mute now held bridal-style in his arms, noting how tightly he was holding onto her. Both blinked once before steam rose from both their faces, Izuku letting Yuki back down onto her feet as All Might laughed amongst the crowd, unaware of their escape. "A-a-are you okay, Y-Yuki?"
A nod was all he got as his face flushed even further as a pair of lips pressed to his cheek for a moment, the warm smiling slipping away under the mask. 'Come on, let's see if we can't find a place to sit while he hogs the spotlight' Without a word since the emerald-haired boy tried to process the information she took his hand and guided him away.
Soon after All Might's adoring fans let him through, the trio now stood in a small park facing the large lagoon, a large arrangement of flowers injecting color and vibrancy in the secluded park. All Might rubbing his face clean of all the lipstick marks while Yuki handed him a tissue, shaking her head disappointedly at his strain on his muscle form.
'You have no right to call me reckless for the rest of the week' She handed him the tissue
"You're right, I never intended on being stopped for so long, we may very well be late." He kept up his grin while Izuku and Yuki shared a look
"Late for what?" He asked as All Might turned to them with a glow in his expression
"Ah, I wanted to drop in on a dear old friend of mine who I haven't seen in quite a while, sorry to spring this on you both but do you mind coming along?" He requested but Yuki rolled her eyes to Izuku, already knowing what the answer was
"You mean I get to meet one of your friends?" His face lit up. "Obviously, of course I'll go!"
Yuki narrowed her eyes, trying to deduce who it could be... While All Might told them to keep One For All on the down-low her mind kept racing through memories and images of people All Might introduced her too. There was quite the variety but nothing ever stuck.
As for Izuku, he knew the importance of keeping One For All a secret for the people he cared about, it was just as real as any villain, Yuki's own secret, SIVA, already proved that the knowledge both held close to their minds can bring danger, Kovik, the League of Villains, all of it was because of their powers, if too many people knew it may cost them dearly.
Their focused minds snapped once the sound of a spring reached their ears, a girl bouncing through the air on a pogo stick, their blonde hair bobbing with the motion as she grew closer. All Might chuckled under his breath, confusing Izuku before Yuki's eyes widened to the edges of her mask.
"No way is that...?" Yuki couldn't believe it, that girl was-
"There you are, Uncle, finally!" The girl leapt high from the top of the stairs, latching her arms around All Might for an energetic hug. "Welcome, Uncle Might!"
"Hahaha, it's so good to see you, Melissa!" Yuki's body shivered with excitement, somewhat nervous to finally meet the girl after so long, though they've never met in person All Might introduced Yuki to the girl now elated at their arrival
"Oh my gosh, it's been forever! I can't believe you're actually here!"
"I'm truly grateful for the invitation, I almost didn't recognize you, when did you go and get so grown up?" He smiled back
"Well, I am seventeen now, you know - Oh. My. Goodness, Yuki!" Melissa immediately pulled away from All Might to tackle the mute on the spot, crushing her into a hug that she happily returned. "I finally get to see you in person! I was so excited when Uncle Might told me you accepted the invite."
'It's strange seeing you outside of a video feed and with all the security checks it was always a pain' Was the note she poked between them, stepping back to flick it around with her eyes curved. 'I'm happy to see you for real, Goldy'
She pouted at that. "Come on, I thought you said you'd let that name go?" Yuki just wagged her finger mockingly. Though Melissa soon regained her smile, giving Yuki a once-over. "Your hero outfit looks really high-tech, though I suppose that's your Qurik - Oh, that reminds me, is your recovery-"
'I'm getting better, most of my serious injuries are all healed say my vocal cords but hey, beggars can't be choosers, right?' It was still a pain, but having an overly kindhearted partner kept those depressing thoughts at bay. 'I've even managed to crank it up to Forty Percent without breaking bones, though I found that out the hard way' She rubbed her forearms at the memory and Izuku and Kyoka freaking out when she did
The blonde looked pleased, "Even that's a massive scale compared to the last time we chatted." At this Yuki rubbed her neck bashfully, eyes still curved giddily
"Tell me, where is Dave hiding?" All Might stepped in with his hands on his hips. Melissa rolled her eyes, pushing up her glasses
"Oh, he's in his lab, he had a breakthrough on some research he's been working on for years, actually he has no idea you're here," She winked with a finger to her lips. "This is a surprise to celebrate his work."
While the pair lost themselves in conversation, Izuku slowly and gradually felt he had just been forgotten to the side-lines, growing somewhat impatient by the exclusion, though Yuki noticed and jabbed All Might at the hip, eyes converting to arrows toward the freckled boy.
"Oh, right Young Midoriya, allow me to introduce you to my friend, Dave's daughter."
She put her hands behind her back with a smile. "It's really nice to meet you-" A hand stretched forward. "-I'm Melissa Shield."
Izuku looked to be relieved about something. "This makes more sense now..." The three didn't quite get it. "O-Oh, sorry, hi," He quickly took off his glove with a nervous look, shaking her hand. "It's really nice to meet you, I'm a first-year student at UA High School along with Yuki, Izuku Midoriya."
Melissa then let go of his hand. "So this is how you know Yuki and Uncle Might, from the Hero Course."
"Yeah, we're his students," At that, Yuki held up a mock imitation of All Might's peace sign to her eye
"They'll be great Pros one day." All Might added
"I can't believe both of you are being taught by Uncle Might personally, you must have a promising future!" Her excitement was on par with Yuki's, and having two rather expressive girls so close was beginning to make Izuku hot under the collar, trying to dial down her compliments, even as she began inspecting his costume and form closely, Yuki trying not to look amused at her boyfriend's statue-like figure
"So what kind of Quirk do you have?" She hummed, lost in her analysis
"I-It's a Power-Type!" He squeaked out, begging Yuki to save him but she was happily lost in thought over the colorful flowers. "Please don't leave me like this!"
"The costume is cool but it's a pretty simplistic design... I don't see any support items either..." All this was starting to make Izuku's head spin, it was worse than when Yuki would tease him, though granted that was every day and even then he wasn't completely used to it
While not entirely bad, she lifted his exposed hand and found a number of white scars dotting his skin from both the Festival and when he attacked Kovik with twenty percent, he now had a new, white line across the back of his hand. "You should think about upgrading your equipment..."
All Might eventually cleared his throat. "Melissa, shall we?"
"Oh!" She sprung back up with a wary smile of her own. "Sorry, just follow me, Papa should still be cooped up in his lab, come on!" She collapsed her Pogo stick and took the vanguard, and again, Yuki stared beyond the flowers, a shiver in her hardware she couldn't identify, it was akin to SIVA's nanomachines...
"Yuki, are you okay?" A gentle hand cupped her own, allowing her to squeeze it tentatively
A single nod and her mind let the shiver go, for now, she had more recordings of Izuku's geeking out to film. Without his knowledge, she was giggling mischievously at all the footage she had. "This week will be a gold mine, guys, hehehe..."
[Somewhere Else...]
"Shh, go to sleep." A sickening snap of a bone silenced the security officer in his chair, their body was thrown to the side dismissively as a pair of white claws sipped the blue flame between the digits, rows of teeth under black scales lining an angular face like a dragon's snout. The figure moved to the monitors overlooking the massive interior of the tower, levels-upon-levels of experimental and innovative designs. "So many choices such little time..."
His fingers snaked onto the keyboard, white lines injecting into the panels, infecting them with a chilling, silver light as the metal was peeled and split against the strain of the white rivers. "I'm not a fan of this, 'infiltration' but the reward?" He cackled to himself among the two corpses. "Oh, the reward of bloodshed will be sweet, hehehahahaHAHAHA...!" He blinked, looking around the room. "Wow, I really have gone crazy."
The screens all flickered with the sigil of white, the figurehead of a large monster with a long, curved black horn and the other significantly smaller. "Time to set the stage..."
Not long after meeting Professor David Shield and leaving him and All Might to catch up, Melissa was delighted to show Izuku and Yuki around the Expo as both had a hard time trying to find a place to start, what with so many buildings and attractions it was ultimately all left to their friend who knew the place off the back of her hand.
They were in the most colorful part of the island, almost as if they stepped into a Quirk-themed amusement park, something both had to try their hardest not to suddenly run off into like children.
"Holy... wow, this place is amazing! I still can't believe the whole island is manmade," Izuku gawked as the trio walked side-by-side
"And it's got normal city stuff, everything you can need," Melissa added, hands behind her back. "The big downside is we can't travel,"
'For confidentiality?' She nodded at Yuki's inquiry
"Basically, the scientists and their families need to keep all this research top-secret, that ensures there aren't any leaks." It was also the reason she and Yuki struggled to chat online, even with SIVA hacked in the firewalls left Yuki completely intoxicated as a result of the backlash
The mute sighed, patting Melissa's shoulder. 'Don't talk, we've lost him' To explain the Pro Hero standing as tall as the skyscrapers roared
"It's the Monster Hero, Godzillo!" Izuku was lost with the crowd that watched him pass by. From what Yuki knew of the Hero he starred in quite a number of movies she liked, though it was ironic since he was the bad guy in those movies, sorta
'A sponsor probably flew him out here alongside the other heroes like All Might' Yuki pondered while the large hero passed with a peace-sign, it was adorable to her. 'How can someone so intimidating be so cute doing that!?'
"They usually fly heroes here to see the new support equipment and sign autographs, you can tell the events are in full swing," Melissa smiled as she led them on. "Alot of the heroes will be at the big party tonight-" She stopped herself. "Well, I guess since you both were with Uncle Might you probably already knew that, huh?"
Yuki's brain took a moment to process this. 'That sly-grinning mother fucker... no wonder he told us to bring formal wear' Yuki crumpled her note angrily. "I had to suffer a whole day with Mom without knowing anything about it for this!"
"Yep, that sounds like Uncle Might, always leaving out details... now I know where Papa gets it," Melissa sighed in agreement, then Izuku glanced to Yuki blankly while she and Melissa chatted so-to-speak.
"That explains why he wanted me to find something formal... but Yuki too..." He glanced again, taking in how her curves were far more defined by her costume, how her body swayed slowly causing his heart to flutter. "Yuki in a dress... wow..."
A note folded into a plane tapped his forehead, spotting Yuki's wink as she turned her attention back to Melissa. Curiously, he unfolded the note then quickly stuffed it inside his pocket with a crimson face, eyes unable to so much as catch a fragment of Yuki for the entire walk.
'So you're enjoying my swaying hips, hmm? ;)' Yuki would be the end of him before any villain
"I've never seen so many hero items in one place!" He squealed alongside Yuki as both felt their heads twist and turn to capture every item on the display in their own little segments of the massive grand hall dimmed to blue light. It felt more like a museum than a showcase
"You guys, look at this one!" Following Melissa's voice, the duo slid over to the stand displaying a large, silver jet that looked to be a hybrid between a fighter jet and a submarine
Fascinating | The components are a hybrid between air and sea | Complete with the ability to manually shift between the two forms of mass
"Impressive," Yuki nodded to herself
"So cool!" Izuku gushed beside her
Next on the list was a pressurize diving pit, the almost alien-like suit withstanding forces of up to seven-thousands meters below sea level. Within seconds of seeing the stats Yuki's mask pressed to the glass, scanning, and mapping out the details for SIVA to filter and augment for future use.
So now we are ripping off designs? | Fine by me | Our design will be perfected
"My thoughts exactly, SIVA, so deep!" Yuki was then pried from the glass by Melissa, herself shaking her head with a smile, knowing just what exactly Yuki was intending to do, even as her hands waved frantically to continue the replication process in defeat
Another item was that of a smooth, rectangular helmet with a black visor. She picked it off the stand as Yuki rubbed her chin, eyes slit with a question mark on her right eye. From the sensors and light-crystal components, it was meant to be a form of optical enhancement device.
"This helmet is equipped with thirty different sensors so you can see all around your body," Melissa explained while many small visual screens appeared around Izuku's head, it was almost too much for his mind to keep track of
He immediately freaked out, "THAT'S SO MUCH!" A larger screen appeared with his flabbergasted expression, then another screen appeared beside his, glitchy and crimson with a familiar logo to the duo, both quickly drawing their eyes to the appearance of a creature bathed in darkness, eyes icy-blue with wires and metal surround its form in the static
~What are you doing? | Tapping into my frequency | Impressive, but get out~
"What the - i-is that... SIVA?" Izuku blurted out, then he yanked the helmet off or rather, Yuki did while rubbing a hand over her head, the lights in her eyes flickering wildly for a second as all the dozens of images shut themselves down. "Yuki, w-what happened?" He reached over quickly, Melissa doing the same to hold her steady
'I'm fine, I had SIVA adjust the frequencies of the technology in this showcase, alot of the tech was trying to tap into my secure network, felt like someone was drilling into my head' Yuki's note trembled slightly in her hand as Izuku pulled her closer to rest against his side, causing her to blink and stare up at him
"It's okay, we can leave if you want?" He smiled earnestly, while he was utterly enthralled by the sights if it was affecting Yuki then he could just come back another day for the rest
"Sorry, I got a little carried away with all these hero items," Melissa apologized but Yuki just held out her hand, poking Izuku on the nose as well
'I didn't want to ruin the moment, it's fine, I've just never been around so much high-tech equipment before it was a little overwhelming, like walking into a candle shop and being struck by all the different smells it'll just take a while to adjust' Yuki's eyes curved happily, then she put her thumb up to the last small screen featuring SIVA, himself nodding before cutting the connection
"You know, almost everything here was created using different inventions that Papa patented," Melissa smiled thoughtfully as she led her friends through the exhibit toward the main entrance, Yuki still resting against Izuku's arm with hers wrapped around his. Melissa didn't pry, but it was really cute to see
"Wow, I bet you're proud of him?" Izuku's question brought her attention back to the topic
"These support items will help heroes around the world, who knows how many people will be affected because of his hard work," Both Izuku and Yuki listened closely. In a way, Yuki was the embodiment of support, with how far SIVA could go she could reshape disasters and battles with villains if she put her mind to it
'It's amazing your Dad is someone you can look up to in such a brilliant way' Yuki's note struck a chord in the girl, herself turning around with a sweet smile
"That's all because it's my dream to become a scientist just like him," Then her eyes became softer. "Who knows, maybe I can find a way to help your sister too?"
That pulled Yuki's head from Izuku's shoulder, lifting her mask for a moment to smile and word 'Thank You' to her old friend, Melissa giggling before rushing over to pinch Yuki's cheeks, startling the girl. "Sorry, it's just that you're so cute when you smile!" Yuki flailed her arms, pushing back against Melissa's face while trying to pull herself free.
"So cute..." Izuku shook his head then added to aid in Yuki's escape as her eyes got comedically misty. "H-hey, Melissa, does that mean you go to the I-Island Academy? The greatest place to go for anyone who wants to be an amazing scientist?" His fanboying freed Yuki, herself rubbing her cheeks with a sigh, slipping her mask back down to visualize a firey glare
'I will hurt you' She warned Melissa who giggled nervously, then her attention returned to Izuku's question
"Yep, I'm a third-year," Melissa then bashfully rubbed the back of her head. "It's amazing but I still have alot left to learn, heck, I should be studying even now if I ever want to exceed Papa someday."
Both Yuki and Izuku felt the same way when it came to All Might. With a smile between them, Izuku answered. "We get it if I'm... no, we're going to be heroes like All Might, we have to train harder than ever before," Yuki then bumped his fist, crackling a few nanites in her off-hand
"Uncle Might really holds a special place in your heart, doesn't he, Deku?" She hummed, putting a hand to her lips to hide her small laugh. "I still can't get over how much you geeked out earlier."
Yuki slid in beside the freckled boy, nudging his shoulder. 'He's a total fanboy, his whole room is plastered in his merch' That made Melissa burst out laughing as Izuku became smaller, anxiously rubbing his head
"Why do you do this to me...? B-but yeah I-I'm kinda a fanboy..."
"Looks like you're having fun, Deku." The trio stopped messing about for a moment, turning slowly before Yuki and Izuku jumped back out of fright of seeing their bubbly friend Ochaco standing before them, her eyes were sorta unreadable but from how robotic her words were it sounded as though she's taken the situation out of context
"U-Uraraka? What are you doing here?" Izuku asked, but she still looked frozen to the spot with a forced smile
"It looks like you're having fun." Both Yuki and Izuku glanced at one another, the former shrugging her shoulders
"Um, you said that already?" He was utterly confused, then Yuki's finger pointed to his right
"Ahem," Yaomomo was also here, and Kyoka too
"Yaoyorozu!?" Izuku felt it, a pit was growing under his boots with no way of escaping, Yuki merely tapped her fingers nervously under their critical eyes
"You appear to be having a good time, with Yuki especially," His mind was starting to fall apart under Yaomomo's words, his face creeping with a blush
"Izuku Midoriya," He froze under his full name, Kyoka waving her jacks in the air with her constant, aloof expression. "I heard everything,"
"K-Kyoka's earphone jacks, the ultimate spy equipment!"
'Duh-du-duh, we're dead' Yuki signed off with 'Xs' in her eyes
After a little quick-thinking, the gang left for a small cafe not far from the exhibit. Yuki slumped back on her chair, sipping her soda through a straw to keep her face concealed, there were still too many people for her to handle at the moment, even with her friends around. She did have to explain alot to Yaomomo and Kyoka later but for now, they kept the peace.
"Wow, you really got to work with Pro Heroes, like, out on the field!?" Melissa was now the one fangirling, eyeing Yuki. "And you actually fought Villains head on multiple times!? Why didn't you tell me!?"
'Confidential, sadly' Yuki waved, remembering how vicious her battle was with those copies of SIVA's own kind, and his old scientist, Kovik, even her almost dying to the program himself had implemented long before arriving in this world
Ocha waved her hands, "Just normal training and a few patrols,"
As for Kyoka, she leaned her cheek on her hand, tapping the thin scar across her cheek. "Had my own run-in with a powerful villain and annoying vigilante with another classmate, almost didn't make it out alive if I'm honest," It still gave her chills thinking back to it
"That's still amazing though!" Melissa gushed, then Yaomomo sighed dejectedly, her experience wasn't anything heroic.
"Somehow, I ended up in a TV commercial for hair products." Compared to Kyoka and Yuki's experiences her's felt the least exciting
"Wow, sounds like an experience, lucky," Melissa's reply wasn't what any of them expected. But from what Yuki could ever recall from the handful of times they talked she always wanted to know what it was like to work as a hero, to understand the good and bad first hand, so hearing all these many shades of a hero must have been breathtaking to her.
As the others continued to chat, Yuki then realized that Izuku was keeping to himself, probably to burn off the embarrassment. "I'm saved, they're not questioning anything."
Pushing back off her seat Yuki strolled over to him, snaking her arms around his shoulders to link by his chest, startling him as her chin sat on his right shoulder. "Y-Yuki?" She winked, nuzzling his cheek
No note or reason was given, she just wanted to hug her adorable partner for a minute. Slowly, he smiled and leaned back a little into her embrace, rubbing his hand across her palm. All of a sudden a drink was set down before them.
"Thanks for waiting, lovebirds," At the title, the two looked up
"I know what voice... Kaminari?" The blonde himself flashed them a smile, holding up the tray in his hand.
"And is that-" Ochaco was cut off as someone leapt from Kaminari's shadow, bowing before the lot.
"Hello~!" He gave a wave
"A-Akio!?" Kyoka almost spat her drink out, coughing a little. "What the hell - how did you two get here?"
Kaminari answered first. "They needed extra waiting staff and since it meant a free trip to the island we applied." He gave a wink of triumph alongside Akio who put a hand to his heart proudly
"We work the hours, get paid, and can explore the island on our time off, coupled with my experience as a, ahem, 'House Maid', yeah, I'm not letting that go, Kyoka," He pointed to her smugly, seeing the collective eyes lock to her and her rising embarrassment. "Anywho, with that under my proverbial belt, we'll be done with extra time to spare for our adventuring pleasures!"
"Speaking of..." Kaminari's eyes slowly panned over to Melissa, only for Akio to poke him in the eyes. "Grah, why would you do that, I thought we made a deal!?"
"I have standards, that's just rude when you haven't even introduced yourself," Akio shook his head. "Pleasure to meet you, Miss, I'm Akio, and the currently blind man beside me is Denki Kaminari."
"Nice to meet you...!" He whined, rubbing his tearful eyes
"So they're also your classmates?" She asked before Akio and Kyoka perked up at the sound of an engine burst in the distance
"Oh crap, we forgot about-" Akio practically turned white with fear, snapping his neck in the direction of the road. "Kaminari," He put his hand on the boy's shoulder. "It has been a pleasure and an honor."
"WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING SLACKING OFF!? YOU WANTED TO MAKE MORE MONEY, DIDN'T YOU!?" Iida was charging in with full force, face as robotic as his swinging arms and rocketing speed toward the two who started to freak out, clutching each other for safety. "YET YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO WORK HARD!?"
"Don't need to outrun the bear, just outrun your friends, breaktime!" Akio hopped and vanished into Kaminari's shadow by the time Iida arrived, looming over the boy who trembled in fear
"I didn't expect to see you here too, Iida?" Izuku asked, bringing the boy's attention away from the petrified Kaminari
"I come from a long line of heroes," Iida explained, swinging his arms up and down while facing them. "It's to be expected we received an invitation to the Expo," He calmed down. "But my family was busy so it's just me."
"I wondered if you would be here," Yaomomo replied, herself smiling. "I'm here because my father is a shareholder in some of the Expo's sponsorship companies, it's so fun to get to go to the preview."
Kyoka smiled, "Yeah, she also had some extra plus ones so be basically gambled for them, though now I see why Yuki didn't join us, she's already here and with Izuku, strange," Even as the humorous reminder of her classmates' defeat over the bet lingered she did question how her two friends were here themselves. "So, after a heartbreaking game of chance the two of us ended up joining her as her extra guests."
While Kyoka leaned her arm on Ochaco she added. "The other girls are here they just can't come to the preview."
"Huh, so we're all basically here as a class," Akio appeared again, this time from Yuki's shadow, his arms wide with a smile. "Glad to have the band glued together like this, so much more fun than coming alone!" Akio then paused as the girls discussed their plans. "Huh, I sense a great disturbance."
'What is it?' Yuki inquired, having still been on edge with the whole overloading frequencies, but also that strange signal akin to SIVA, it was popping up again
"Hmm, give it... five... four... three..." His fingers slowly counted down. "Two...? Oooone - Now."
*BOOM!*
"What was that noise!?" Izuku jumped, Yuki having already facepalmed
'Let's be honest, we all know who can legally get away with arson in a place like this' Everyone raised a curious brow at the two
The gang ran for the smoke rising from what appeared to be a rocky cove configured into a battle arena or time trial but all the signs. Reaching the inside of the stands both Yuki, Izuku, and Akio were the first ones to arrive on the scene, grasping the railing to slow themselves down to peer across to the mountainous terrain. Two holographic monitors appeared to be blotted out by the smoke, but soon the image was revealed
~A clearance time of Thirty-Three seconds! He's in eighth place!~ The announcer declare for the spiky redhead whose skin was as hard as granite
"No way, Kirishima!?" Izuku gawked while Akio whistled at the carnage
"For a guy without any speed enhancements, he's good." He praised, clapping a little
"So I'm guessing he's from UA as well?" Melissa asked
"Yeah, he's in the same class as us." While he gave an explanation, Yuki's head slammed into the railing, denting it as Izuku too felt his body lock up in shock
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me..." Kyoka groaned next to Akio
~Please welcome our next challenger!~ The announcer began. The ash-blonde with the explosion Quirk stepping onto the arena. Bakugo didn't even hear Izuku blurt out his name. ~The assault course has been reset! Ready? Go!~
Without a second to lose Bakugo swept across the arena, lobbing close-quarter explosions into the same form of machines used in the Entrance Exam, tearing them apart at record speed, screaming 'Die' to the final one in his path, that was enough to unnerve the class.
~Wow, look at that time! Only fifteen seconds! First Place!~ The crowd went wild as he landed without much effort
"I sense great danger," Akio gulped as Kirishima pointed up toward them, that immediately sparked Bakugo into lunging with an explosion, snagging onto the railing mere inches from Yuki and Izuku
"Dammit, what the hell are you doing here, Deku!?" Then he leered at Yuki. "And the Mute Bitch is here too!?" That quirked a visual brow
'So we're going back to 'Bitch', dumb-dumb, make up your mind already' She shook her head as he leaned closer with fury in his eyes
Izuku just kept retreating with his hands up and a frightened smile. "Oh, um, hey there, Kacchan, maybe calm down a bi-" He then leapt back as Bakugo continued his ranting
"Don't you dare tell me what to do!?"
'You really can't let it go, even when we're on holiday?' Yuki asked, tilting her head as he seethed with rage. Then a thought occurred. 'Maybe if I can beat your time you'll calm down?'
"Like hell you can, both you and Deku stay out of this!" Iida then rushed to the rescue, keeping him from approaching
"Bakugo, behave yourself!" He tried to implore reason but Bakugo kept screaming, eyes completely devoid of features, jagged and twitching with fury
"No use trying to reason with a man who's lost any reason to begin with," Akio replied nonchalantly, even as Bakugo loomed over him so he waved. "Hello~"
"You want to go, Plain-face (In reference to Akio's overwise normal appearance), I'll tear you apart!" He was starting to thrash on the rail like an animal
"What does Ochaco see in you I will never know," Yuki sighed to herself, knowing her friend had her work cut out for her
"Kirishima, you two got asked to I-Expo as well?" Yaomomo inquired, but he just waved his hand down
"Na, Bakugo got in invited since he won the Sports Festival, I just tagged along with him," He grinned honestly, then motioned to the arena behind him. "You guys going to do this villain course or what? Pretty great to let loose on something easy!"
"Don't even try it," Bakugo warned. "There's no way you can get a better score than I did."
"Huh, yeah, you're probably right." Izuku practically backed down behind Iida. Yuki, not willing to be whipped so easily, hopped up and over the railing, landing beside Kirishima who gave her a high-five on the way past
"Oi, where the hell are you going, you Mute Bastard!?" She shook her head, guess he was going to keep switching it up today. Stepping toward the center ring she gave herself a quick stretch for the trial ahead
"Maybe this will help us focus more, that stupid signal is starting to get on my nerves,"
~Looks like we got two new challengers coming in at the last minute!~ The announcement drew Yuki's eye back to Izuku, himself approaching nervously with Bakugo's eyes glowering in the background. ~Will they end up on top or fail in front of the entire Expo!?~
Her brow rose, hand on her hip. 'He forced you to fight, didn't he?' A single nod was all she needed
"L-Ladies first," Yuki almost tripped but accepted his stupid, mushy politeness and stepped forward. Meanwhile, Izuku slapped his forehead. "Why did I say that?"
Yuki took her place, bringing SIVA through her body with a sudden rise of heat. "Let's give it our all, SIVA!" Red lightning snapped across her armor, the eyes of her mask lighting up scarlet, new, clusters gathering to the backs of her arms and legs, creating narrow, triangular funnels that produced a stream of red energy from within. The rush of hot air blowing through the girl and Izuku who watched with a child-like smile
SIVA | Enhance | Twenty Percent
"SIVA augment, Winter's Rush!"
~The attack course is set! Ready? Go!~ Yuki flew from the ground the second the 'O' left her mouth, lunging toward the water to deliver a smash to the first bot, her left hand raised behind her to blast the second with a series of small energy attacks while her foot tore through the bot under her, leaping higher
Running along the verticle surface Yuki's fingers coned, spitting forth precise shots to tear apart the machines on higher ground, her left foot twisting her body into a horizontal spin across a large gap, bringing her leg through a two-headed robot with Divide, red streaks of plasma spurting from her calf.
Pressing with her toes her body lunged for the peaks, bringing her elbow down atop the third to last robot, firing several balls to obliterate the machine hiding behind cover. Her fist connected with the second robot's, her strength and high endurance more than sufficient in reducing the limb to scrap as she flew by, decapitating it with a sword materialized from the scrap of the previous bot.
Constructing a sword in her right two she spun herself into a vertical slant, severing the final robot down the middle. Taking a breath, Yuki stood up from the peak of the mountain, overlooking the crowd below with a bashful wave as she slid her way down the side of the cliff with her hand, her augments reverting back into clusters.
~In a startling amount of speed and strength the challenger cleared the course in the fastest time yet by a hair! Fourteen-point-five-four seconds, First Place!~ That alone blew a fire into the air from where Bakugo was standing, himself ranting and raving from the stands over the wave of cheers
Yuki rubbing her neck as she approached Izuku, giving a polite bow for him to proceed, but before he did he leaned closer to her. "That was amazing," Good thing for the mask she wore as her face burned a little, though her eyes did display hearts for a split second
'Just beat the stupid course you dummy' He chuckled to himself at her abrupt reply, taking the time to prepare himself while the course reset
While Izuku took his turn with explosive speed, Yuki felt her head buzz again, this time she could feel her eyes fill with white static, a strange, blurry image of a lab, more than likely within I-Island, overlooking the security cameras that monitored the whole island. What baffled her further was the lack of security in the room, but then the connection snapped, and her eyes focused back on Izuku tearing through the course.
"What was that? How did we connect to I-Island's security?" It was a pressing concern
After adjusting for the dozens of intercepting frequencies | We may have inadvertently wired our nanotechnology with the Island | Not to worry, I can sever this connection
Gradually, Yuki eased back into observing her partner and his amazing feats of strength, himself having already landed back on the ground without her noticing. That hero-like smile stretched across his cheeks as he strolled, that alone calmed her back down.
~An incredible run! He's in Third Place with sixteen seconds!~
"Wow!" Ochaco cupped Yuki's hands happily
"That was an impressive showing you two," Iida complimented
"I really didn't think I'd get so close to Kacchan's time," He replied modestly, with Yuki clicking her fingers with a cool posture
'I beat dumb-dumb, again, surprising no one XD' Her eyes also flashed with a face sticking its tongue out as the blonde turned with fury in his eyes
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?" He fumed, his fist trembling toward them both. "WE'LL SEE, I'LL GO AGAIN AND DESTROY BOTH YOUR SCORES!"
Suddenly, the ground shook tremendously, and a sharp chill ran across Yuki's armor as her eyes bulged from her mask, shoving past Bakugo to lean over the railing. From seemingly thin air a massive glacier of ice froze the whole mountain in seconds, the time shattered all three of their scorings, and with minimal effort.
"Todoroki is here too?" Izuku stated the obvious
"Another one from UA?" Even Melissa was surprised to see it, she knew the UA Hero Course was fantastic but to see so many at one time was astounding. "Your class is amazing, you're all going to be great heroes." Yuki would have loved to react to that comment alongside the girls but her and Bakugo were too busy glaring down at Todoroki
'YOU BIG JERK, I FINALLY ONE-UPPED DUMB-DUMB AND YOU DO THIS, DAMMIT SHOTO!' Her letters flew from her body, bursting into flames thanks to Bakugo's hands
"That Icy-Hot bastard screwed with my score...!" He growled darkly. For the first time in history, the two shared the same mindset of crushing Todoroki for this injustice
While Bakugo propelled himself to confront Todoroki, Yuki emerged from nothing beside him, scaring the announcer as she fell to her knees, pulling at his shirt with tears running down her mask. 'You traitor, I finally had it, I showed the world I'm better than this dumb-dumb and you took that from me, how could you be so cruel!?' She punched the ground. 'Dammit, damn it all to Hell!'
"Not only did I lose to her I lost to you too, you can't just appear and show me up!" He roared, yet Todoroki looked utterly unphased, patting Yuki's head
"I apologize, I didn't realize that was your intention." She merely waved off his condolences, shaking her head. "There, there."
'It's fine, I enjoyed it while it lasted' Her whole body was devoid of color, a dark blue wave pressing down on her back in defeat
It was approaching mid-afternoon, and while the group had fun exploring the Expo a little more, a new, pressing issue arose that only Jiro and Yaomomo could confront concerning their blue-haired mute. She had requested their guidance and required only their ears for this. While Izuku's worry over Yuki was touching it wasn't as serious as when the Consume. Enhance. Replicate command was still in effect. So the trio had a moment of privacy on the grass by the massive lake, secluded from any prying ears.
The scenery was spectacular, the sun refracting off the gentle current of the crystal clear waters was almost too perfect as Yuki slowly wrote out her questions and answers for the two. They listened closely, reading through her replies as she took off her mask, revealing her fearful, embarrassed face. Even her eyes were wavering to look at them directly, opting to stare down at her own reflection in the water.
'I don't want to keep the others waiting or beat around the bush'
'But I'm so unsure of what to do if what I'm feeling is really what I think it is'
'I'm sorry, I'm just scared because I don't understand it'
'Kyoka, Momo, I... think I'm in love with Izuku' The pair leaned closer with the note between them, eyes wider than saucers as they re-read the line several times, then peering toward their anxious friend, her eyes still on her own mirror image while tucking her knees closer to her chest
"You serious, Yuyu?" A single nod gave Jiro her answer, thinking back to her own experiences with a certain, faux-brown-haired idiot. Smiling, she moved to sit beside her, looking to her best friend's reflection. "Took you long enough to say it."
Another nod but she refused to make another note. Yaomomo sat on the other side, pulling Yuki's head close to rest on her shoulder. "It's okay, I see why you've been so distracted lately." That brought an inquisitive brow to Yuki's face
"Yeah, you've been staring off into space alot today and kept getting flustered around Izuku, kinda hard to miss that," Hearing this from Kyoka brought her hands over her face, whining at how obvious she must have been. A pat to her back only made it worse. "Relax, 'least you can admit to yourself about this stuff, I... erm, yeah, I was alot worse."
"Do any of the other girls know?" Momo asked and received a deadpan look from the mute
'You honestly think I'd trust this soul-crushing secret with Mina? Half the bloody world would know by now' It was harsh but everyone knew she and Hagakure were bad at keeping secrets for long
Kyoka snorted a laugh. "Pfft, hard to argue there," Her jack then flicked Yuki's ear. "Listen, asking us what to do next won't really work, me and Akio just sorta... went with the flow, ya know?" Kyoka paused a moment, ruffling her hair to try and think of a way to convey her bashful thoughts. "I-I guess... maybe at the reception tonight, after the small dance they'll have tonight?"
That sparked something in her chest, now that she considered it, it would probably be the best chance to really understand what the hell was going on inside her own head, aside from SIVA of course. Yuki turned to Kyoka, the rocker offering a thumbs up for encouragement, with Momo hugging her from the left.
"Sorry, it's just so fun seeing such an adorable romance blossom," Both Yuki and Kyoka then remembered Momo always had a soft spot for things involving romance, especially high-school ones. The raven-haired girl cleared her throat, smiling softly; Though the sparkle in her eyes remained. "We can help you get ready tonight, maybe keep your mind at ease?"
Kyoka shrugged, "Yeah, could work better than just sitting in the room all afternoon panicking," She then started to play with one of her jacks nervously. "I-I know I'll need it, a-after all we have to wear f-formal stuff and, you know, that's not really my thing."
"Akio would love anything you wear, Kyoka." Momo's encouragement only worsened the girl's blushing, her hands waving wildly
"I thought this was about Yuki and Izuku, not me! No, leave me out of this!" That atleast broke a silent laugh from the mute as both girls joined in
I suppose you are well now | You will be fine | I am here to support you
"I always have you covering my back, SIVA, thanks," He merely hummed at her words and left her to discuss her nightly plans with the girls. For Yuki, it was do-or-die, by the end of the night she'd get her answer, even if she had to jump through hoops and wear that dress her Mom threatened her to wear
To Be Continued...
Taking place between season 2 + 3 is the movie that is overhauled with my own villain and motives. Drama, action, slice of life, it's all here! I've been waiting for this moment. This chapter was basically as long as the Hosu Incident, but I didn't want to stretch this over multiple chapters.
Building up toward the second act, and trust me, it's gonna be great, but first, more fluff to come and looming action. I hope you enjoyed, appreciate the support as always, seeya in the next chapter heroes!
Next Chapter: Movie, At Nightfall
Yuki: I'm freaking out. I'm freaking out. I'm freaking-
Akio: She's been like this for two hours...
Kyoka: *Sigh* Leave it to us, we'll knock some sense into her
Yuki: What if I mess this up!? What if he hates me!?
Akio: ...erm, I'm not touching that; Next time, At Nightfall!
Yuki: *Crying* G-g-go bey-y-y-yond...!
