Man, it has been some damn time since we got here, huh? But hey, it's better to come back now than later. I think the main reason I took so long for this story is because it was hard to think of something original for the story. To recap: Late at night, Allister and Shadow Prov decided to infiltrate the Fairy Tail Guildhall in order to learn more about Natsu's allies. However, Makarov had soon found them and although he was able to hold them, Allister released his Bakugan to escape. The next day, while the group recovered from their rather bizarre night, Gray and Juvia trained. However, they were greeted by Grant and Mylene, who were in disguise. Due to their questions about magic, Gray and Juvia found them suspicious and while they followed them, a battle ensued.
Will the brawlers be able to catch up to them? And what happened to Makarov? Let's find out…
*BOOM*
An explosion erupted loudly in the forest, causing a large cloud of dirt and sand to blast in the air. Then, a lone figure jumped out of the cloud, landing on the sand. The figure was revealed to be Gray Fullbuster, who rolled his shoulders with narrowed eyes.
"HYAH!" Grant leaped in the air, clutching his hammer with both hands. In response, Gray created an Ice Shield to block. Once Grant's hammer slammed into his shield, a shockwave emerged between the weapons, with the shield cracking a bit. "Damn, those powers of yours are making this fight even more fun."
"Glad I'm not boring!" Gray replied before he pushed Grant away, deactivating his ice shield. Quickly running forward, Gray struck Grant with several hard jabs to the stomach and face, though the taller male barely flinched. "Ice Make Knuckle!" Putting his hands together, Gray unleashed a barrage of ice fists at Grant, sending said male slamming into a tree. The Subterra brawler wiped the bottom of his nose, noticing a small amount of blood come out.
"Good… THIS IS GREAT!" With a rather wild grin, Grant slammed his first through the tree behind him, splinters flying in the air. Grunting a bit, Grant pulled on the tree, causing it to start falling down. Widening his eyes, Gray rolled to the side, dodging the tree entirely.
"Ice Make Lance!" Gray quickly launched a barrage of ice lances towards Grant. Quickly grabbing his hammer, Grant raised it up before slamming it against the first lance, causing a shockwave to emerge from it with enough force to create a shockwave, destroying the rest of them. 'I GOT HIM!' Rushing towards Grant, Gray placed a hand on Grant's chest, surprising the taller male. To make matters worse, ice began to form on Grant's chest, sending a shiver down his spine. "Give up. I'm more than willing to freeze you if I have to."
"D-Damn… pretty cold of ya, pal…" Grant joked with a grin, a noticeable stutter in his voice due to the ice. "That s-said, you don't have the guts."
"What?" Gray asked with narrowed eyes. Grant lost his smirk as he glared at Gray.
"I mean you don't have the courage to actually go through with this. Hell, I doubt you ever killed anyone before." Grant told him in a stone cold serious tone. "You have no idea what we're willing to do for Damus."
"And you don't know what I'll do from my friends." Gray shot back, increasing the ice so that it would start to grow over Grant's chest. Grant's breath was visible as he shivered a bit.
"Really? Would you ever do this?"
*Click*
Gray heard the sound of a click under him. Taking his eyes off Grant, Gray looked down, only to see Grant pull the pin off a silver cylinder. Getting his grin back, Grant let go of the cylinder, allowing it to roll towards Gray's foot.
'SHIT!' Feeling the back of his heard scream 'GET AWAY', Gray pushed himself away from Grant, trying to keep his distance.
*BOOM*
'With Juvia'
"Water Slicer!" Juvia swiped her arm, launching several blades of water towards Mylene. In response, the Vexos dodged each attack, though some were able to cut her, namely on her right cheek and left thigh.
"Cute trick!" Mylene complimented before she launched her energy whip forward. Juvia quickly stepped out of the way, the energy barely an inch from her.
"Water Whip!" In response, Juvia turned her right arm into water, whipping it towards her opponent, catching Mylene's left wrist. "Why are you here?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Mylene mockingly said as she stood her ground.
"I see. You're one of those Vexos the Brawlers told me about." Juvia concluded with a glare. Like everyone else, she saw the video of Bakugan being forced to battle by Mira and she felt truly disgusted. "In that case, you're coming with me!"
"Oh, I don't think so." Mylene taunted with a smirk before she took something out and tossed it to Juvia. The water mage widened her eyes before she launched another Water Slicer, cutting the object in half.
However… it turned out to be a mistake.
*BOOM*
"AAHHHHHHHH!" Juvia let out a scream as a large flash of light suddenly emerged from the broken device. Because of this momentary setback, Juvia deactivated her Water Whip as she attempted to cover her eyes. With a smirk, Mylene activated her energy whip yet again before throwing it towards Juvia, wrapping around her stomach.
*ZAP*
Once it made contact, Juvia was hit with a large volt of electricity, causing her to scream even more. "As much as I hate to admit it, the Spectres have much more versatile weapons than king Zenoheld." Mylene said as Juvia continued to scream. To ensure Juvia wouldn't be able to move, Mylene added more power into her whip, sending more volts of electricity. "Don't worry. This won't kill you." Her smirk then turned rather dark. "But, you'll make the perfect bait for the-"
*SPLASH*
Mylene let out a gasp as she was struck hard on the face with water, some of it entering her nose. "WHAT?!" Was all she was able to muster out as she too was hit by the same electric volt as Juvia.
"You… won't… hurt… my… FRIENDS!" Juvia declared, working through the pain as she continued to shoot water into Mylene. To escape the pain, Mylene deactivated her whip, causing both her and Juvia to separate. Both females panted hard, glaring at one another.
"Are all the people in this world as annoying as you?" Mylene asked rhetorically.
"Only… the… best ones…" Juvia panted hard, her limbs feeling rather numb due to the attack.
"I'd rather avoid this… but you've annoyed me enough." Letting out an annoyed sigh, Mylene soon smirked as she took out her Gauntlet, putting it on her arm. "Gauntlet, power-!"
*BOOM*
However, the two were caught off guard when a large explosion erupted close by. "DARLING!" Juvia called out, realizing where the explosion came from.
'That idiot! Why would he risk our cover being blown for a fight?!' Mylene thought with anger. Sure, she may have used a flash bomb on Juvia, but no one else was around! Yet for some reason, Grant decided to use an EXPLOSIVE on one guy!
'With the rest of the group'
"WOW! THIS IS REALLY GOOD!" Baron exclaimed with a happy tone as he ate his breakfast without a care in the world. However, as he ate another strip of bacon, Baron suddenly began to choke on it, causing him to pound his chest.
"Hey, hey. Easy, man." Jet told Baron while slapping his back, helping him get rid of the food.
"I keep telling him not to eat too fast. He never listens." Nemus said with a sigh from the table. Overall, everyone seemed to have recovered from last night's rather… unique 'party.' Although some of the females still had headaches and such, they were a little slower than the males.
"Are you going to continue your training, partner?" Leonidas couldn't help but ask Natsu. However, the dragon slayer didn't reply as he just continued to eat quietly.
"Natsu? Are you okay?" Wendy asked with a concerned tone.
"Yeah, yeah… I'm fine… yeah…" Natsu said with a laugh, his focus solely on his food.
"Was it… really that bad?" Alice asked with a slightly embarrassed tone.
"It was… different." Was all Ace told her, not staring at her as he continued to eat.
"Again, we're sorry for any trouble we might have caused." Ingram apologized to her fellow Bakugan, who merely accepted her apology with a nod.
"Owww…" Mira groaned as she rubbed her head, trying to get over her headache. Last night was such a blur that just trying to recall anything hurt her.
"You'll be okay, Mira. Just eat for now." Wilda told her in a caring tone as his brawler ate her eggs.
"Well, now that we've eaten breakfast, I believe it's time to resume our training." Erza announced to everyone while finishing her coffee. She then looked at the brawlers with a smile. "If all of you like, you can watch. But, please make sure you aren't too close."
"We understand, Erza." Tsubaki replied with a smile.
*BOOM*
However, everyone jumped when they heard the explosion in the distance. "What was that?!" Droy asked in shock. Ace and Erza were the first to react, opening the balcony door to examine the outside.
"There!" Percival called out as he noticed a cloud of smoke rising from the distance.
"Was that Gray?" Levy asked, knowing that Gray and Juvia were absent.
"No. The explosion seems irregular." Erza stated with a serious tone. Just as Natsu was about to take another bite of his food… his nose caught the scent of something oddly familiar.
'Hang on… that smell… where do I know it from?' Natsu thought with narrowed eyes. Thanks to his time on Earth, his senses had gotten a lot stronger, especially his nose. And as such, because of the kickback of the explosion, Natsu was able to catch a scent he hadn't smelled since New Vestroia.
"I know who it is." Natsu spoke up, getting everyone's attention.
"Who, partner?" Leonidas asked, noticing Natsu's face.
"Mylene." Was all Natsu said, though it was enough to make all the brawlers gasp in shock.
"Seriously? She's here?" Kallen asked in an urgent tone.
"They must have detected the Attribute Energy. That explains how they found Levy and the others before." Guren stated, though his tone was completely serious.
"Gray and Juvia are still out there!" Happy realized with a gasp. After what happened with team Shadow Gear, he was understandably concerned for his friends.
"They'll be fine. This IS Gray and Juvia, after all." Lucy finally spoke up, albeit somewhat weakingly due to how hung over she was.
"But we can't leave the Vexos alone. They could hurt someone." Tsubaki added with a hint of concern.
"Everyone, get dressed!" Erza declared before her body started to glow, changing her into her normal armor. "We're going hunting!"
'With Grant and Gray'
"Damn, I didn't think the bastard would actually take that. He's even crazier than I thought." Grant commented out loud while casually walking through the smoke. Due to how close he and Gray were to the explosion, he was covered in small scratches and dirt, as well as his shirt practically being torn to shreds. Casually taking off his shirt while grabbing his Bakugan, Grant began looking around for any sign of Gray. However, all he saw was a small crater caused by his explosive, as well as what looked like Gray's necklace. With a frown, Grant kneeled down and picked up said necklace, examining it. "Huh, so he's dead. That's a shame." His Bakugan jumped on his shoulder, opening up.
"Oh well. It just shows not everyone in this world is worth battling." His Bakugan said with clear disappointment in her voice.
"I guess I'll keep this out of respect. Let's-"
"ICE MAKE CAGE!" Grant widened his eyes as a cage made of ice suddenly formed around him, keeping him locked in place. "You're a crazy son of a bitch, aren't you?" Walking up to the cage was none other than Gray, who looked worse for wear. Despite this, he still gave Grant a deep glare.
"Shit, you're alive!" Rather than being angry, Grant had a big grin as he looked at Gray.
"Don't understatement wizards, jackass." Gray told him with a scoff, noticing his necklace in Grant's hand. "Give that back."
"Whatever." Grant tossed the necklace to Gray, who caught it. "I'm not into jewelry, always. Besides, we aren't done."
"Really? You're trapped in my ice cage with your hammer right here." Gray said as he picked up Grant's hammer, though he was surprised by its weight. "Unless you got another bomb, then you're trapped."
"Who needs a bomb when I have her?" Grant stated with a confident tone.
"Her?" Gray questioned with a raised brow. He must have been referring to his female friend that Juvia went after. But even if that was the case, if she was anything like Grant, then she didn't have any powers and would most likely use weapons against him.
"Yeah… my partner." Grant opened his hand, allowing his Bakugan to land on it. "Say hi, Malaceros."
"Hello, iceman." Malaceros greeted with a chuckle, making Gray's eyes widen.
"Why not show him your true form?" Grant asked his Bakugan before taking out his Gauntlet. "Gauntlet, power strike!" His Gauntlet began to glow a familiar brown light. "Bakugan-!"
"GRAY!" Before Grant could finish, he and Gray heard some familiar voices. Running through the forest and reaching them were some of the former's friends. Namely Ace, Lucy, Mira, Droy, Alice, Natsu and Happy.
"Gray, are you alright?" Lucy asked him with a concerned tone, though she did notice Grant in the ice cage.
"Yeah. It's about time you got here." Gray said with a cool tone before he noticed something. "Where are the others?"
"They went after Juvia since Natsu told us about Mylene." Mira explained before she glared at Grant. "Who's this?"
"Hey there, Battle Brawlers. About time I got to meet some of you." Grant greeted, leaning against the ice bars while casually waving his hand. "Name's Grant."
"Is he with the Vexos or Damus?" Happy questions out loud.
"Vexos are a part time thing, but Damus is my boss." Grant replied, tapping the ice. "Say, how long can this ice last? I gotta take a piss."
"You didn't screw up this time, ice cube. Nice." Natsu complimented his rival while slapping his back, making the ice user flinch.
"Yeah, screw you." Gray shot back before he glared at Grant again. "So, what should we do with him?"
"We could interrogate him." Mira suggested as she walked up to the cage, her eyes focused on Grant. "What do you say, big guy? Would you mind answering some questions?" Grant merely smirked as he looked over Mira.
"I take you're Mira Fermin? I gotta say, you're not too bad in the eyes." Grant told her in a flirty tone, making Natsu and Ace glare at him. "As for me talking, none of that's happening until you beat me in a brawl."
"Really? You wanna brawl?" Natsu asked with his arms crossed. "Why should we do that while you're in that cage? We can keep you in there all day if we wanted to."
"Then where's the honor?!" Malaceros called out with an angry tone, surprising everyone.
"Hey, his Bakugan can talk too!" Droy pointed out with wide eyes.
"She's right. How can you prove yourself if you can't even beat me? I never knew the Battle Brawlers were such wimps" Grant mocked them, irking the brawlers.
"What was that?" Ace asked with narrowed eyes, feeling his anger grow a bit.
"Ace, don't get worked up. He's trying to bait you." Alice quickly told in an effort to calm him down.
"Besides, you still got Mylene to handle and as much as she can be a cranky bitch, she's tough." Grant said before giving the gang a look. "So here's what'll happen: you brawl with me. If you manage to beat me and Mylene, we'll talk. But if both of us win, we take two Attribute Energies. How's that?"
"You're seriously bargaining right now?" Lucy couldn't help but ask in bewilderment. It was just so surprising how Grant acted like he had all the cards, despite being imprisoned.
"Why not? It's a fair deal." Grant reasoned with a shrug. Everyone started glancing at each other, unsure of what to do.
'With Juvia and Mylene'
To say both females of water were exhausted was an understatement. Since that 'little' shock that came from Mylene's wipe, both were rather tired, though they wouldn't allow the other to see. Despite this, they continued to fight as hard as they could, resulting in some rather extensive damage done to the beach.
"Can't… you… stay down… for once?" Mylene asked Juvia through pants.
"Never…" Juvia responded as she wiped away some sweat. However, the moment she did this, Mylene launched her whip forward for the umptenth time, making the water mage dodge, only losing a bit of her hair. "Water Cyclone!" Extending her arm, Juvia launched a cyclone of water towards Mylene, who quickly jumped out of the way… though, her left leg was struck.
'DAMN!' She thought in annoyance as she rolled on the sand, giving Juvia a deep glare. That attack stung like hell, but the shot at Mylene's pride hurt even more. "I'm done playing with you, girl!" Reaching into her back, Mylene pulled out a new device. She wanted to safe it just in case, but this girl was an exception! "Now, die!"
*WOOSH*
*SLAM*
"OOOF!" Before she could throw the device, a blur came in and struck Mylene in the stomach, knocking the wind out of her. Landing on the sand while her bag dropped its contents, Mylene groaned in pain as she opened her eyes, only to see a red haired male standing over her.
"So, this is one of those Vexos Natsu talked about?" The man asked with a serious glare.
"Jet?" Juvia asked in a surprised tone before she heard footsteps behind her. Turning around, the water mage sighed in relief as she saw Wendy, Carla, Tsubaki, Baron, Kallen, Sona, Levy and Erza run up to her.
"Juvia, are you okay?!" Wendy called out, noticing some of the wounds on Juvia's body.
"I am now that you're all here." Juvia said with a smile.
"So, it really is her." Kallen muttered with a glare as Wendy began to heal Juvia's wounds.
"Don't take your eyes off her, Jet!" Baron called out to warn the speedster.
"Don't worry. She doesn't have anything on her." Jet answered as he quickly rushed to Mylene's bag, keeping it away from her and running back to the others.
"Why would you attack our friend, Mylene Farrow?" Erza demanded, her brown eyes glaring harshly at Mylene. Said person growled as she stood up, holding her stomach.
"If you know who I am, then you know why I'm here." Mylene replied rather coldly before she looked at the Battle Brawlers. "So, we take two of the Attribute Energies and you all decide to take a vacation? I knew you were all weak, but this is pathetic."
"I'd watch what you say. Especially when we have the numbers advantage." Kallen mocked, though she never took her eyes off Mylene. 'She wouldn't come here alone. Even Mylene's not that good.'
"That's true… but can you stop this?" Mylene said rather darkly before she raised her Gauntlet, pressing one of its buttons.
*BOOM*
Everyone jumped when an explosion suddenly erupted close by, followed by the sound of panicked cries.
"What was that?!" Carla asked with a shocked tone.
"It sounded like it came from the other side of the beach!" Guren exclaimed in equal shock. Everyone then turned to Mylene, who smirked confidently.
"What did you do?!" Sona called out, dropping her calm tone.
"You honestly didn't think I wouldn't come here without a plan, did you?" Mylene asked them rhetorically as she raised her Gauntlet. "If you even think about take or even destroying my Gauntlet, then all the explosives I've placed will detonate. Even with the powers you have, I doubt you'll be able to save anyone."
"You bitch!" Kallen yelled in anger, clenching her fists tightly. She knew that Mylene was anything but fair, yet using bombs to turn the people of Earthland into her hostages was too far!
"What you call cowardly, I call strategy." Mylene waved off her insult as she stared at the brawlers. "Now, if you gave me your Bakugan, I might be willing to deactivate the bombs." Judging by everyone's expression, it was clear they didn't believe her. "Then again, I have another offer. Defeat me in a brawl and I'll deactivate the bombs. But if I win-"
"Then you take our Attribute Energy." Tsubaki finished, her hair shadowing her eyes.
"Exactly. So, who wants to be the hero?" Mylene challenged as she raised her Gauntlet. These fools were no match for what she had, even if their Bakugan HAD evolved.
"I'll take you-" Kallen and Baron stepped forward to battle, only for Tsubaki to walk past them, putting on her Gauntlet.
"I will be your opponent." Tsubaki said as she raised her head, revealing a look of pure determination.
"Miss Tsubaki?" Wendy asked in surprise.
"I can battle her while the rest of you find those bombs." Tsubaki explained without looking back at everyone, making Mylene scoff.
"Really? And you think they can find them before this brawl is over?" Mylene questioned with a smirk. "Either you're a fool or you actually think they can do it. It doesn't matter in the end." The other brawlers looked at one another before they stepped back.
"Okay. Just don't go losing, okay?" Kallen asked her friend with a smirk. Tsubaki glanced back and gave her a small smile.
"I-I'll stay here and support you!" Wendy called out while clenching her fists. Even though she wanted to help with the bomb disposal, she didn't know if she could. Besides, there was a chance Tsubaki could be hurt during this brawl. Same with Ingram.
"And I shall stay with them." Carla announced as she stood next to her dragon slayer.
"Good luck, and be careful." Erza told them with a serious tone before the rest of the group ran off to find the bombs, leaving the four on the beach.
"So… how are we even going to find those bombs? We can't spend all day digging them up." Jet spoke up once they were a good enough distance away.
"Mylene is using her Gauntlet to control the bombs." Sona started explaining as she took out her own Gauntlet and began typing on it.
"And if that's right, then it has to be giving out a signal!" Baron added with a snap of his finger.
"So all we need to do is find the signals." Nemus concluded.
"Even if we find them, we need to take them away from everyone." Levy spoke up with a hand under her chin.
"We can worry about that later. Right now, our priority should be finding them." Erza told them with a hint of finality in her voice. Sona narrowed her eyes a bit before she smiled.
"Found them." Pressing a button, Sona created a hologram of the area, with ten glowing red spots. "We need to tell the others. They can help."
"Jet, you should find them. Tell them what's happening." Erza commanded the red head.
"On it." With a quick salute, Jet began running towards the forest in order to find the others. With that, the rest of the group went off.
Hopefully, they would be able to find the bombs.
'With the others'
"I'll take you on." Ace finally said as he stepped up, making Grant smirk.
"Ace, you sure about this?" Natsu asked his fellow brawl with a raised brow. He was more than willing to take on Grant, especially after that tie against Damus.
"What if he has some kind of trap ready for you?" Happy asked with a concerned frown.
"You really think that little of me, huh? That hurts." Grant said in a 'hurt' tone. "I'm not the kind of guy who'd play dirty. If you're strong, that's all I need." As much as everyone didn't want to believe him, there was just something about his words that sounded… genuine.
"Would you settle for a two on one brawl?" Mira asked in a serious tone, much to Ace's shock.
"Mira, I can-" Ace started, only for Mira to raise a hand.
"Ace, we already lost the Haos and Aquos energies. We can't risk losing another." Mira firmly told him with a glare. The same glare she would always give the brawlers whenever they got in a fight(mostly cause of Ace and Natsu). It didn't matter how much he tried to argue: Mira would simply wear him out.
So with a sigh, Ace gave her a smirk and nod.
"Alright. Just try not to slow me down." Ace told her confidently, making Mira smirk as well.
"I should be saying that." Mira shot back.
"Is it just me, or do those two act like a real team?" Droy couldn't help but say out loud.
"That's because they've known each other longer than the rest of us." Alice stated with a smile on her face.
"Alright. Just don't expect me to help you guys out." Natsu told them with a grin as he stepped back, giving Gray a look. "Let him out, Gray."
"You can't be serious, flame brain." Gray replied with a surprise expression, only for Natsu to give him a nod. The ice user sighed a bit before glaring at his rival. "I better not regret this." Opening a hand, Gray dispelled the ice cage, allowing Grant to roll his shoulder.
"Thanks. Say, after I beat these two, why don't we have a rematch, icy?" Grant asked Gray, only for said person to glare at him. "Sheesh, just trying to be nice. Can't blame a guy for trying." Gray stepped away from Grant in order to give him space for the brawl.
"EVERYONE!" Before they could start it, Jet suddenly ran into them, stopping just a few feet while panting hard.
"Jet, what's wrong?" Lucy asked him in surprise. They had split up in order to find Mylene, so what was the point of him finding them?
"Bombs… that Mylene chick…" Jet started to say before he caught his breath, giving them all a serious look. "She put bombs all over the beach!"
"WHAT/WHAT?!" Everyone but Grant shouted in pure shock.
"So that's what she was doing?" Grant stated out loud with a shake of his head, getting a deep glare from everyone.
"Don't act like you don't know about it, jackass!" Gray shouted while pointing a finger at Grant.
"Hey, I'm just as lost as you are." Grant said while raising his hands in surrender. He then gave them a serious expression. "Besides, dragging innocent people into a fight isn't my style."
"Okay, change of plans." Natsu declared, getting everyone's attention. "Ace and Mira will take this guy on while the rest of us go find those bombs."
"But how will we find them?" Alice questioned with a concerned frown.
"Sona has that figured out. Everyone else is going out to get the bombs." Jet explained to them. As much as they all wanted to stay and support their friends, getting rid of those bombs were a top priority.
So with a unanimous nod, the group began to run, save for one person.
"I'll stay with Mira and Ace." Alice spoke up with a serious tone. "They might need some help."
"Okay, just be careful." Natsu told them with a serious tone, getting a nod from all three before he and the others ran off.
"I was serious about what I said." Grant told the brawlers honestly.
"I don't care what you have to say. We're still taking you down!" Ace declared as he raised his Gauntlet, with Mira following his lead. Grant merely smirked as he raised his own Gauntlet.
Back with Mylene and Tsubaki, the two females raised their own Gauntlets with serious expressions.
"Gauntlet, power strike!" They all declared in unison as their Gauntlets began to glow their respective colors.
"Gate card, set!" Mira threw her Gate card on the ground, causing it to spread throughout the ground. "Ready, Wilda?"
"I'm more than ready, Mira." Wilda told Mira before he closed up, allowing Mira to catch him.
"Bakugan, brawl!" Mira threw Wilda onto the field with her usual throw. "Subterra Magma Wilda, stand!" Once he stopped, Wilda opened up, causing a brown light to surround his body. Soon, Magma Wilda began to rise, his new armor plates reflecting the light of the sun.
"I am Magma Wilda and I will use all my power to stop anyone who stands in Mira's way!" Wilda announced loudly, causing a flock of birds to fly away.
Magma Wilfa: 600Gs
"Huh, he's a big guy alright." Grant commented before he grabbed Malaceros and grinned. "But, let's see how tough he is. Bakugan, brawl!" With a powerful throw, Grant threw his partner on the ground. "Malaceros, stand!" Malaceros then opened up, causing a light similar to Wilda's to surround her.
"RRRRROOOOOAAAAARRRR!" A powerful roar erupted from where Malaceros stood, causing the three Battle Brawlers to cover their ears.
*STOMP*
As if that wasn't enough, someone stomped on the ground, causing it to shake rather harshly. "What… the… hell?!" Ace was able to say, struggling to keep his balance. However, the shaking soon stopped and the three were able to regain their balance.
However, when they looked back up… they tensed up.
"Oh look. They're scared." Standing in front of Wilda with a strong feminine voice was a rhino-like Bakugan. Her skin was brown, save for several orange tattoos that were on both sides of her body. In addition to this, the new Bakugan had gray armor plates on the top of her back, as well as metal greaves on each of her legs. Her horn was rather large, with curved tusks on each side of her mouth and yellow eyes. In addition to this, Malaceros seemed to have several crystals growing out of her body.
Malaceros: 700Gs
"Let's get this party started!" Grant called out as he put in an ability card. "Ability, activate! Savage Horn!"
"Open wide!" Malaceros slammed her feet on the ground as her horn began to glow an orange aura. With that, she began to charge towards Wilda.
Malaceros: 700-1000
"MIRA!" Wilda called out to his brawler.
"Right! Ability card, activate!" Mira shouted as she activated a new card. "Atlas Shield!" Wilda clenched his fists before slamming them hard on the ground, causing it to crack open. Soon, a large wall of magma rose out of it, blocking Malaceros' assault.
Magma Wilda: 600-900
"Hehehe, not bad." Grant complimented before he put in another card. "Fusion ability, activate! Anger Rush!"
"Grrrrrr…" Malaceros suddenly began to growl as her tattoos started to glow. Much to the brawlers' shock, Malaceros began to push through the Atlas Shield.
"Her willpower/is rather/impressive." Hydranoid had to confess. Due to the heat from Atlas Shield, just trying to break through it should be painful.
"The shield won't hold!" Vladitor added in horror. Like he said, Malaceros was able to break through the Atlas Shield.
Malaceros: 1000-1200
"RAGH!" With a battlecry, Malaceros slammed into Wilda in full force, causing him to scream in pain as he broke through several trees.
"WILDA!" Mira called out in concern.
"I'm… fine…" Wilda called out as he struggled to stand back up, looking at Malceros. 'Even with Atlas Shield, she still broke through. How powerful is she?'
"Is that the best you have?" Malaceros asked Wilda in clear disappointment. "How can you call yourself a Subterra Bakugan if a simple attack like that is able to take you down?!"
"Shut… UP!" Wilda yelled as he glared at Malaceros.
"Ability, activate!" Mira put another card in her Gauntlet before they started to glow. "Volcanic Smoke!" Wilda suddenly began to release a large amount of smoke from his small craters, causing it to fill the area.
"The hell?" Grant asked as he covered his mouth. He then looked at his Gauntlet and widened his eyes. 'What did she do?!'
Malaceros: 1200-700
Magma Wilda: 900-1100
"She used Volcanic Smoke to return Malaceros' power level back to normal while also increasing Wilda's points. Mira's amazing." Alice commented with a smile.
"Where are you, coward?!" Malaceros roared from the smoke, trying to find where Wilda was. A large shadow suddenly began to rush towards her, making her eyes widen.
"HERE I AM!"
*SLAM*
Malaceros screamed as Wilda slammed his shoulder into her shield, sending her flying in the air before she landed in the forest, causing the ground to shake even more.
'With Mylene and Tsubaki'
*BOOM*
"W-W-What was that?!" Wendy stuttered in shock as she felt the ground shake. The brawl had barely begun, yet the ground JUST started to shake.
"It's probably that idiot, Grant." Mylene spoke up as she glanced at the forest, seeing the smoke from Wilda's ability. "I knew he'd cause a commotion." She then looked back at Tsubaki with a smirk. "But let's not focus on that. Gate card, set!" She then threw a card on the ground, causing it to spread. "It's time to show you the true power of the Vexos. Bakugan, brawl!" Mylene then threw her Bakugan on the field. "I call Aquos Macubass!"
"Macubass?" Tsubaki questioned out loud in surprise. The new Bakugan soon stopped, opening up as a blue light appeared around it.
The moment it was released, a large shadow quickly flew to the sky, causing the wind to pick up. The girls quickly covered their eyes to avoid any sand hitting their eyes.
The figure soon flew back to the field, stopping several feet in front of Mylene. The girls soon lowered their eyes… only for them to widen in shock.
"W-What is that?!" Carla shouted as she took a step back.
The new Bakugan had a jet-like frame, painted in white and blue, long wings with several blue lines on each one, sharp blue feet, dark blue boosters on its back, and a long white head with blue lines and a red visor.
Macubass: 700Gs
"Another mechanical Bakugan?!" Ingram shouted in shock.
"That's right. Say hello to Aquos mechanical Bakugan Macubass. One of Professor Clay's greatest inventions." Mylene boasted with an arrogant smirk, enjoying the sight of their shocked expressions.
"But wait, what happened to your old partner?" Tsubaki asked, feeling a sense of dread in her chest.
"Oh, Elico?" Mylene asked before she scoffed. "I threw that pathetic piece of trash away."
"WHAT?!" Ingram shouted in pure anger.
"He wanted to prove his strength or something. But he lost so many battles, I was afraid King Zenoheld would banish me." Mylene said without the slightest bit of sympathy. "He and Brontes were weak links, and I got rid of them. Is that a problem?"
"You… got rid of them…" Tsubaki looked down, her hands clenched tightly. Mylene was already a cruel person, but to throw away a Bakugan who was devoted to helping her was just pure evil!
"How could she?" Wendy muttered while putting a hand over her mouth.
"Don't focus on the past too much. Otherwise, we won't get anywhere." Mylene told them with her arms crossed.
"That little…" Ingram growled, wanting to crush Mylene's new abomination with her own two hands. "Tsubaki-"
"I know." She cut him off while giving a serious look. "I need your help." Ingram nodded before turning to ball form, allowing Tsubaki to catch her. "Bakugan, brawl!" She tossed Ingram to the field. "Ventus Master Ingram, stand!" Once Ingram stopped, she opened up, causing a burst of wind to erupt onto the field.
Emerging from the wind was none other than Ingram's evolved form, Master Ingram. She stood tall, her arms crossed as she glared harshly at Macubass.
Master Ingram: 600Gs
"Wow, that's Ingram?" Wendy said in awe, staring up at Ingram's form. Seeing Leonidas and Cybertros was crazy enough, but now seeing Macubass and Ingram was just blowing her mind.
"Impressive. I never knew she looked like this." Carla commented, also in awe.
"I will fight till my last breath to destroy your reteched machine!" Ingram declared proudly.
"Ability, activate! Wind Power Extreme!" Tsubaki declared as she inserted an ability card. Ingram leaped in the air before spreading her white wings.
Macubass: 700-400
Master Ingram: 600-900
"Hmmm." Mylene hummed before she inserted an ability card of her own. "Ability, activate! Hunter Whip!" Macubass extended its wrist towards Ingram before firing a whip of pure blue energy.
Master Ingram: 900-700
Ingram saw the whip approaching her before she began flying around to dodge it. However, the mechanical Bakugan was relentless, whipping Ingram without any sign of stopping. It then calculated where Ingram would be before using its right wrist to launch another Hunter Whip, successfully catching the Ventus Bakugan.
"Oh no!" Wendy gasped out loud as Ingram was forced to land on the ground, caught in Macubass' clutches.
"That's not all." Mylene told them with a smirk as she inserted another card. "Ability, activate! Saber Barracuda!" Macubass' other wrist suddenly sprouted out a blue energy sword.
Macubass: 400-700
Macubass' jets launched under its feet, launching it straight towards Ingram. "Don't worry, Ingram!" Tsuabki called out as she put in a new ability card. "Ability, activate! Wind Split!"
"I… won't… be… STOPPED!" Using all her strength, Ingram broke out of Macubass' Hunter Whip just as said Bakugan reached her.
*SLASH*
Ingram gasped as she was slashed by Saber Barracuda. "INGRAM!" Wendy cried out, horrified to see Ingram split in half… and disappear. "Huh?"
"Which one am I?" Suddenly, five Ingrams appeared around Macubass, each crossing their arms while giving it a glare.
Macubass: 700-500
Master Ingram: 900-1100
"It's surrounded!" Carla yelled in surprise. It seemed like Tsubaki and Ingram were done for, yet they were able to turn it around. The Ingrams all cried out as they leaped towards Macubass in a joint attack.
"You think that scares me?" Mylene questioned with a flick of her hair before she inserted two ability cards. "Double ability, activate!" Macubass' visor suddenly began to glow before it flew out of the way, narrowly avoiding the onslaught.
"What?!" Ingram exclaimed as she and her clones looked up. However, their eyes widened as the back of Macubass opened up.
"Battle Composition plus Radiant Claw. This is what you get for underestimating me." Mylene mocked with a smirk. "Fire!"
To their horror, Macubass began dropping multiple glowing blue orbs on the area.
*BOOM*BOOM*BOOM*
The moment the orbs landed on the ground, multiple explosions began to erupt. "AAAAAHHHHH!" Wendy let out a scream as she, Carla and Tsubaki attempted to take cover from the explosions, which were getting too close for comfort. The Ingrams all began dodging the attack, though the assault was too much and most of them were destroyed. However, this only caused the real Ingram to leap in the air to avoid damage.
"Tsubaki, girls! Are you alright?" Ingram called out before she heard something behind her. Turning around, the Ventus Bakugan gasped as Macubass flew at her in high speed, its claws glowing.
*Slash*
"AAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Ingram howled in pain as Macubass slashed her chest in full force, sending her crashing to the ground.
Master Ingram: 1100-700
Macubass: 500-700
Ingram moaned in pain as she laid on the ground, putting a hand on her wound. It was definitely a lot stronger than Elico, even though she'd rather not admit it.
"Ingram!" Tsubaki rushed to her partner's side, putting a hand on her arm.
"I'm… fine… Tsubaki." Ingram was able to tell her, though the tone of her voice said otherwise.
"That was really bad." Wendy said with a worried frown as she looked over at Mylene. 'So these are the people who hurt the Bakugan. This is awful.'
"You should pay attention, little girl." Mylene said to Wendy, making the girl flinch. "This is the power of the Vexos. Not even your precious Natsu Dragneel will be able to defeat us now." She then smirked once again as she inserted an ability card. "If you need an example, here's one! Ability, activate! Moby Killer!" Macubass' claws closed up before spinning into curved cannons. It then opened its cannons, charging energy into them.
Macubass: 700-1100
"LOOK OUT!" Ingram quickly stood up in order to protect Tsubaki, who quickly put in an ability card.
"Ability, activate! Armored Intense Mode!" Tsubaki shouted as Ingram wrapped herself with her wings, creating a sort of barrier.
Macubass: 1100-700
Master Ingram: 700-900
Macubass launched its Moby Killer onto Ingram, though due to her shield, she was able to survive. "Is that all you have?" Tsubaki asked Mylene with a smile, only for it to drop as Mylene smiled back.
"Not at all. Gate card, open!" Mylene shouted as her Gate card began to glow. "Element Merge!" Ingram felt her body weakened as her energy was transferred to Macubass.
Master Ingram: 900-700
Macubass: 700-900
"NO!" Ingram shouted as Macubass rushed towards her, slamming her hard. She was unable to hold out as she reverted back into ball form, landing in front of Tsubaki while draining two bars in her life gauge. Tsubaki picked up Ingram, who opened up while bowing her head. "I'm sorry. I underestimate that machine."
"It's not your fault." Tsubaki consoled her partner with a soft smile. "As long as we have the Ventus energy, we can still win." She then stood up, giving Mylene a glare. 'Although, her Macubass is a strong Bakugan, especially for a mechanical one. Still…' She glanced back at Wendy and Carla, who were both clearly shocked by her loss. 'I need to focus on winning this brawl. With how Mylene battles, she's not afraid to put Wendy in danger. And with everyone else… we need to move this battle away from them.' Tsubaki then took out a card. "Gate card, set!"
'Back with Ace, Mira and Alice'
"Did we get him?" Ace asked with narrowed eyes. He knew Wilda's attack would do some damage, but he didn't know how much.
"Well, you got something to say, Malaceros?!" Grant called out, his voice filled with confidence. The sound of rubble moving rang through their ears as a familiar figure began to stand up.
"That was strong… but not enough to stop me!" Standing up with a prideful roar was none other than Malaceros, who glared at Wilda.
'She was able to take Wilda's attack?!' Mira thought with a bewildered expression.
"HAHA! Glad to hear it!" Grant grinned as he put in a new ability card. "Ability, activate! Mud Tomb!" Malaceros used her back legs to stand up before slamming her front legs on the ground, causing yet another earthquake.
Just as Wilda was about to move, a geyser of mud suddenly shot out around him. "WHAT THE?!" Wilda gasped in shock before he felt something grab his legs. Looking down, his shock increased as he slowly began to sink into the ground. "I'm sinking!"
"Hang on! Ability, activate!" Mira raised her Gauntlet, only for it to do nothing. "It's not working!"
"Course it isn't. That's the power of Mud Tomb." Grant explained while picking his ear with his pinky. "Not only can't your Bakugan move, but it also can't use its abilities AND it's power goes back to normal."
Magma Wilda: 1100-600
"HERE I COME!" Malaceros began to charge towards Wilda, horn extended.
"Bakugan, brawl!" Ace quickly threw Percival in front of Wilda. "Bakugan, stand!" Percival opened up while spinning, creating a large tornado of darkness that caused Malaceros to stop. The tornado grew before a pair of glowing red eyes appeared inside of it. Soon, the figure waved their arm to dispel the tornado, revealing Percival's new body.
"I am Darkus Midnight Percival, and I will be the one to defeat you." Percival told Malaceros with a serious tone.
Midnight Percival: 600Gs
"That was close." Alice let out a sigh of relief, happy that Ace was able to step in.
"Oh? You wanna protect your little girlfriend? I can respect that." Grant said with his arms crossed. "That just means this brawl's getting even more exciting."
"Say that when I use this!" Ace smirked as he put in an ability card. "Ability card, activate! Stray Thunder!"
*Rumble*
Dark clouds suddenly began to appear in the sky, followed by purple lightning.
"Woah, is that a storm?" Droy called out, seeing the dark clouds appear.
"No time to focus on that! We need to keep looking!" Gray told the obese plant mage as they continued to dig in the sand. Luckily, their friends were able to get the people nearby away so that would be able to search without any witnesses. Using an ice shovel he created, Gray continued to shovel more and more sand out…
*Ding*
Until he was able to hit something hard. "Found it!" Gray and Droy then began using their hands to remove the sand from the pit. And sure enough, they found a beach ball-shaped device in the pit, beeping a small red light.
"How'd they even sneak this in?" Droy questioned in confusion.
"Who knows with those guys?" Gray said with a shake of his head before he grabbed the bomb, slowly pulling it out of the pit. "Damn, it's heavy as hell."
"How do we turn it off without, ya know… blowing ourselves up?" Droy asked with a nervous gulp. The brawlers never told them how to turn off a bomb, so if they weren't careful, the bomb could trigger.
However, Gray's answer cause when he placed a hand on the bomb, covering it in ice. "GRAY?!"
"Look." Gray pointed to the light on the bomb, which had stopped functioning the instant it was frozen. "If we can find the rest of the bombs, I can freeze them. That's the best idea I have so far."
"Now, face my thunder!" Lifting a hand in the air with his index finger extended, Percival absorbed the lightning, pointing it towards Malaceros. With a roar, he unleashed the lightning towards Malaceros.
Midnight Percival: 600-900
"I don't think so, pal!" Grant then put in a new ability card. "Ability, activate! Solid Steel!" Malaceros closed her eyes as the armor plates began to glow. Percival's Stray Thunder then struck her in full force, causing a large explosion.
"Nice shot, Percival." Wilda complimented his fellow Bakugan. However, their moment of relief was cut short as the smoke cleared.
"Impressive, handsome." Malaceros spoke up, her body revealed to be covered in pure metal. "But you can't shatter my armor!"
"Let me explain." Grant said while raising a finger. "Solid Steel protects Malaceros from an attack and steals the power boost her opponent just got. So, thanks for the extra 300Gs!" Ace and Mira widened their eyes in horror.
Midnight Percival: 900-600
Malaceros: 700-1000
"I don't think so! Gate card, open!" Mira extended her arm towards the field, causing it to glow. "Transducer!"
"An excellent choice." Vladitor complimented.
"Thanks to Transducer, Malaceros will lose all her points." Alice added with a smile, though it quickly dropped as she saw Grant grin.
"Cute trick. Now see mine!" Grant put in another ability card. "Ability, activate! Dreadful Land!" Malaceros matched her partner's grin as her tattoos began to glow yet again. Lifting her front right leg, Malaceros slammed it hard on the Gate Card, causing cracks to appear on it.
"The Gate card!" Percival shouted in horror.
"That's right. Dreadful Land shuts down any Gate card Malaceros is standing on and my opponent's Bakugan can't use any of their abilities!" Grant told them before he punched the air. "Go get them, Malaceros!" The Subterra Bakugan roared as she began to charge at Percival and Wilda, slamming her horn into the former. Percival screamed as he flew into Wilda, causing both Bakugan to slowly fall back before they reverted back to ball form, landing in front of their partners.
"Wilda/Percival!" Mira and Ace kneeled down to pick up their partners, their life gauges draining by four bars. Grant opened a hand as he caught Malaceros, shoving his other hand in his pocket.
"I gotta say, you two. That wasn't a bad fight. But I just don't have that rush." Grant confessed with a disappointed tone. "Honestly, that ice guy put up more of a fight."
"They're stronger than we expected." Percival admitted as he and Wilda opened up.
"But we know what kind of cards he'll use." Mira told them. "At least we can come up with some strategies on how to counter it."
"I doubt he's shown us everything. But, it's something." Ace said with a serious expression. The way Grant was talking down to them was pissing him off and putting him in his place would be the gift he never knew he needed.
"If you're ready to go for round two, I'm game!" Grant called out before he took out a card. "Gate card, set!" He then threw a card on the field, causing it to spread through the area.
The Spectre, Vexos and three Battle Brawlers all gave each other serious expressions before they pulled their arms back.
"Bakugan, brawl!"
'Magnolia'
"Honestly, why would that fool need me to bring supplies?" Porlyusica muttered to herself with an annoyed tone as she walked through the forest path, making her way towards the Fairy Tail guildhall. The reason she was extra moody today(as per her usual self) was because Makarov had asked her yesterday to bring some medicine in preparation for the Grand Magic Games, even though it was THREE MONTHS AWAY. Then again, if he had asked her the last minute, then she would've been pissed regardless. "I swear, if it wasn't for me or Wendy, most of them would still be bedridden." A tired sigh escaped her lips as she looked down at the box she was carrying. 'Oh well. They will need as much help as they can get with how everyone's gone in the past seven years.'
As much as she wanted to deny it, Porlyusica did miss Makarov and his annoying brats to an extent. They at least made things interesting in her life, even though she would never admit it.
Porlyusica was brought out of her thoughts as she noticed the end of the forest approaching, which would allow her to see Fairy Tail's rather crappy guildhall.
However, the moment she did… her eyes widened.
"Oh my god…"
*SHATTER*
Porlyusica dropped the box she was carrying, causing many of the items inside to broke or spill out. Without missing a beat, Porlyusica began to run as fast as she could to the guildhall…
Or at least, where the guildhall SHOULD it.
The building itself was completely destroyed, with several parts of the wall and roof scattered around the field. Water seemed to be leaking from one side and several barrels of alcohol were spilled on the grass.
Once she had reached the front of the ruins, Porlyusica saw something that made her eyes widen.
"Makarov?"
God, I feel like the biggest son of a gun for making yet ANOTHER cliffhanger when we JUST had one last chapter. But, it does add a bit more suspense for this battle, so….
Anyways, I hope this chapter at least got your blood pumping. I wanted to make sure certain people were given screentime. As for the bomb idea, it was all I could think of since if it wasn't a factor, Erza would've probably cut Mylene into sushi. There's gotta be stakes and I added them to the story. But I will say the brawls will continue and will cause way more damage that may or may not cause the brawlers to rethink their little vacation.
And as for the last scene… I won't say anything. Just keep an eye out for an update.
