Chapter 38 Old Wounds
Most of the group were in the dinning hall eating some breakfast.
Korra laughed as she fed her son who ate his food.
"I'm so happy he's finally talking." Korra said.
"I figured he would eventually." Sean said kissing his forehead making Junior laugh.
"Hey, has anyone seen Chief Beifong?" Mako asked.
"She's probably off sulking in her room or taking her problems out on someone else." Korra said.
"I know she has a problem with me, but she had no right to yell at Opal last night." Suyin said.
Thats when the Twins rushed in.
"All set for your power disc game today, boys?" Suyin asked.
"Actually we're playing basketball with Woods and Mason." Wei said.
"HA! I should have known." Sean laughed.
"So Korra how is your metal bending?" Suyin asked.
"I'm actually not a metal bender." Korra said.
"Really? Lin never offered to train you?" Suyin asked.
"Nope, and I guess I never thought to bring it up because I was learning to airbend then Pro bending and fighting the Equalist and then got pregnant with Junior." Korra said holding her son who smiled at her making her giggle.
"Plus I'm sure Lin would have been far more strict than Tenzin." Sean said making Korra Shudder thinking of that.
"Yeah theres that too." Korra said. (Training with her would have been a nightmare)
"As one of the Avatars, you should have mastery over all the elements. I'd be happy to show you the basics." Suyin said.
"Really? That would be great." Korra said.
"Just so long as you don't use that on me." Sean said making her grin while Junior giggled.
"Oh yeah I almost forgot Stryker made your whole inner body metal." Korra said grinning at the ideas she could use on him.
"Really?" Wei said.
"Oh no." Sean before groaning as the twins started metal bending him. "This is just as bad as Blood bending!" Sean yelled making everyone burst out laughing. "KNOCK IT OFF!" Sean yelled using airbending to slam the twins into the wall.
"Ow." Wing said holding his head.
"Sorry about that." Suyin said.
"Morons." Sean said.
"You should try metal bending too." Opal said to Bolin who choked on his food.
"Uh, Nah, I'm more of an Earth Guy." Bolin said. (I was kinda sad he couldn't metal bend at all at first but then he got something even better)
"Well, let me know when you change your mind." Suyin said.
"Hey Sean. Can't you metal bend?" Korra asked.
"Well, actually..." Sean tried to say before a strong magnetic pull occurred everything metal...Including him. "WHOA!" Sean yelled as he was pulled into some metal suit before getting hit with everything metal.
The person in the armor was Varrick.
"It worked. Zhu Li mark that down." Varrick said.
"Varrick." Sean said incredibly annoyed. (Uh oh)
"Kruger? What are you doing on my suit? Get off!" Varrick yelled trying to pull him off.
"I'M MADE OF METAL INSIDE YOU IDIOT!" Sean yelled.
"Oh." Varrick said before turning his suit off.
And thats when Sean started beating Varrick to a pulp.
"I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" Sean yelled royally pissed off making the others laugh. (Now this is funny)
"Ok thats enough." Korra said pulling him away.
"God I hate that guy!" Sean said annoyed pulling a fork out of his chest before he healed instantly.
"Just relax. We just gotta deal with him until Zaheer and his group are captured again." Korra said.
"Mmm." Sean said as Junior reached out to him.
"Dada." Junior said making them smile before Sean took him in his arms.
"Well, at least you brighten the day up buddy." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Lin was not having a good day as she walked out looking sick before seeing two guards screwing around making her glare before she approached them.
"What do you two think you're doing? Get back to work!" Lin barked.
"The hell's gotten into you now?" Joker asked walking to her with Aiwei.
"The Avatar is in danger, and these two knuckleheads are just standing around chitchatting." Lin said.
"Don't worry. Zaofu is one of the most secure cities in the world." Aiwei said.
"I'll be the judge of that. I'm going to check every inch of this place." Lin said.
"Lin, you do not have to work while you are here. You need to relax." Aiwei said.
"I'm fine!" Lin snapped before groaning.
"Oh bullshit." Woods said.
"Even I don't need to be a truth seer to know you are under a dangerous amount of stress. If you don't deal with your repressed feelings, There will be severe consequiences to your health and your job." Aiwei said.
"I'm not interested in talking about my feelings." Lin said.
"You won't have to say a word. I know a great acupuncturist in town who will be able to help you." Aiwei said giving her a card making her sigh as she took it and left.
"She seriously needs to get laid." Joker said before groaning as she earth bended him in the balls.
"I heard that." Lin said making Woods chuckle.
"You and your big mouth." Woods said.
Meanwhile
Zaheer and his group were in Republic City with the Police after them.
"Seems like you made quite a stir on air temple island. The Cops are swarming the city looking for us." P'li said.
"You still want to try to take out the president?" Ghazan asked.
"No. He'll have to wait. We leave today." Zaheer said. (Oh! I wish they did to save us all the future headaches)
Outside delivery man was taking boxes off his truck when Ming-Hua used her water hands to grab him and pointed an ice spear at him.
"There's no money. I just made my last delivery."
"We don't want money." Ming-Hua said.
Meanwhile
Lin was at the Acupuncturist laying on her back as needles flew above her.
"How many of those things are you gonna stick in me?" Lin asked.
"I'll be placing several needles on each of your acupoints. Theres nothing to be scared about."
"I'm not afraid of needles." Lin said
"Please close your eyes and take a deep breath."
Lin did as asked before the needles went in.
"This process will correct the imbalances in your chi. Please tell me if your feel any pain or pressure."
"I don't feel anything." Lin said.
"Thats unusual. Your Chi must be powerfully blocked. We will require more needles."
Soon more entered her body.
Acupuncture often taps into people's buried memories. These memories can often be difficult to process."
Lin scoffed at this.
"Burried memories, uh-huh." Lin said before she started to do just that.
Flashback 30 years ago
Suyin and some boys were in her living room when Lin walked in.
"Su, what are you doing Home?" Lin asked.
"Wow. You almost look like a real cop." Suyin said laughing.
"You're supposed to be in school." Lin said.
"Oh, no. Are you gonna tell mom? Like she cares." Suyin said.(I know Suyin said she was a rebel but wow)
Lin then noticed one of the boys putting riches in a bag.
"Where'd you get that stuff?" Lin asked.
"Uh, fell off the back of a truck."
"What are you doing hanging out with these losers?" Lin asked.
"They're my friends, and you have no right to call them that! Come on, guys, let's get out of here." Suyin said grabbing the bag as she tried to leave but Lin grabbed her.
"Su, stop!" Lin yelled but she smacked her hand away.
"Get your hands off of me." Suyin said.
"You have so much potential. You're ruining your life." Lin said.
"At least I have a life." Suyin said leaving making her frown.

Lin started sweating as she remembered these events.
Meanwhile
Sean and Korra who held Junior followed Suyin to some display area of Meteorites.
"These Meteorites are perfect for beginning metalbenders. The Metals have unique property, making them easier to bend." Suyin said taking a piece and demonstrated.
"Not bad. I hope none of these are the same metals I'm made of." Sean said.
"That reminds me how do you have metal inside you?" Suyin asked.
"Thats kinda my fault." Korra said.
"A former mentor turned enemy tricked Korra as I was recovering into injecting me with a combination of metals inside me to wake me up. Only he planned to turn me and my son who was unborn at the time into living weapons. He used her in a time of weakness to inject this..." Sean said having his metal claws come out. "Into me. Though it has been beneficial until your sons and Varrick did what they did this morning." Sean said annoyed making her giggle.
"Sorry." Suyin said.
"You never answered earlier if you could Metal bend." Korra said.
"I haven't really even tried to be honest." Sean said.
"Well, then why don't both of you try it." Suyin said as Sean took Junior who cooed as Korra took a piece and tried to concentrate.
"Focus on the fine pieces of earth within the metal." Suyin said as Korra concentrated before she started doing it.
"I can't believe it. I'm metal bending." Korra said excited.
"Yay!" Junior cheered making Korra giggle before taking her son back.
"Thank you honey." Korra said.
"Let me try." Sean said trying before groaning as his hand twisted. "Ah great." Sean said annoyed.
"Uh oh." Suyin said.
"Whats wrong?" Korra asked.
"I think because his body is made of metal he's also bending the metal inside himself. We'll need to work on that." Suyin said.
"Great." Sean said annoyed.
Meanwhile
Lin continued to sit on her back as her mind remembered events from 30 years ago.
Flashback 30 years ago.
"Calling all units. Robbery reported on the corner of Fifth and harbor. Suspects vehicle headed south on Hao Boulevard. Units responding, identify."
Lin grabbed her radio.
"Unit three responding." Lin said before she spotted the criminals and chased after them before using metal bending to stop them.
Thats when two of them tried to run off but Lin captured them with metal bending.
"Leave them alone."
Lin widened her eyes seeing Suyin in the car who also saw her.
"Su?" Lin asked in shock.
End Flashback
Lin gasped as she launched the needles everywhere before getting up.
"Wait! Leaving in the middle of a session could make you sick." (I just now realized there some needles in his head. HAHAHA!)
"I'm done here." Lin said leaving while groaning.
Later
Lin sat in her room holding her head before the door opened up.
"Are you gonna stay in your room feeling sorry for yourself all day?"
Lin turned seeing a younger Suyin before shaking her head before she saw Korra and Sean.
"You owe Opal and Apology for the way you treated her last night." Korra sad.
"You ok?" Sean asked seeing her.
"Yeah you don't look good." Korra said.
"I'm fine." Lin said leaving.
"The heck was that about?" Sean asked making Korra shrug.
Lin barged back into the treatment room.
"What did you do to me?" Lin asked.
"I tried to warn you."
Soon Lin was back on the table resuming her treatment.
Flashback 30 years ago
Lin smashed her fist into her car.
"So you're robbing stores with the Terra Triad now?" Lin asked.
"I didn't steal anything. I just drove the car cause I owed them a favor. Big deal." Suyin said.
"I'm not letting you get away with this." Lin said making her laugh.
"Oh, what are you going to do, officer, arrest me?" Suyin asked turning to leave.
"Don't even think about taking one more step!" Lin said but she did anyway before Lin used her metal bending to restrain her but she cut the line only for it to come directly at her face and cut her cheek making her scream in pain making Suyin widen her eyes in shock. (I was shocked her own sister gave her that mark.)
End Flashback
Lin shuddered as she kept remembering.
Meanwhile
Bolin whistled as he grabbed some metal meteorite before trying to metal bend it.
Of course he was clearly having issues if his annoyed look was any indication.
"Hey, Bolin." Opal said startling him.
"Opal! Oh. Wow. You really know how to sneak up on someone." Bolin said with the metal behind him.
"What are you doing?" Opal asked.
"Oh, nothing, you know, just...Thinking about my body and mustaches that I might have in the future." Bolin said trying to put it back but dropped it.
"Your acting weird again." Opal said.
"Sorry. I wasn't really thinking about all my mustaches. I'm just frustrated. I've been trying to metal bend, and I can't figure it out. Don't tell anyone, okay?" Bolin asked.
"Why not?" Opal asked.
"Because it's embarrassing. This isn't the first time I've tried. I mean, I've been wanting to metalbend ever since I heard about Toph. Your grandmother is my biggest hero." Bolin said.
"My mom grew up learning from Toph. Just go train with her. Stop being so scared." Opal said.
"You know what? Maybe I am scared, but what about you? I know you want to go to the Northern Air Temple to train with Tenzin, but you haven't done it because your afraid too." Bolin said.
"You know what? You're right. I don't want to leave my family and disappoint my mom." Opal said.
Meanwhile
Lin continued to sit down as she entered the final parts of the memory.
Flashback 30 years ago
"What were you two thinking? You two have put me in an impossible position." Toph said to her daughters.
"Your mad at me? She's the one who was running around with criminals." Lin said glaring at Suyin while having a patch on her cheek.
"This is all your fault!" Suyin said.
"I was doing my job!" Lin yelled.
"Enough! All right heres what we're going to do. Su, you need to leave the city as soon as possible." Toph said.
"What? Where am I supposed to go?" Suyin asked.
"You'll go stay with your grandparents. Lin, give me the arrest report." Toph said getting her to do that before Toph tore it apart shocking her. (I can't say I'm surprised)
"Mom, what are you doing? You can't cover this up. There were witnesses." Lin said.
"I'm the Chief of Police. I can't have a daughter in jail." Toph said.
"So, once again, she gets to do whatever she wants, and there are no consequences." Lin said ticked off as Toph held her head.
"This is our only option." Toph said.
End Flashback
After that the needles came out.
"You're going to feel a bit fragile, so it's probably best if you take it easy for a little while."
Thats when Lin sat up.
"I don't need to rest. It's time I did something I should have a long time ago." Lin said.
Meanwhile
Sean using magic to protect himself from bending his inner metal was using metal bending on some of the meteorites.
"Finally." Sean said as Korra kissed him making him chuckle.
"Not bad. Using your magic to shield your own inner metal." Suyin said before the ground began to shake making them look seeing Lin who looked pissed.
"Uh oh." Korra said holding Junior protectively.
"Su, it's time we talk." Lin said looking angry.
"After 30 years, you're finally ready to talk?" Suyin asked.
"When we were in Mom's office that day, you could have taken responsibility for what you did, but instead you stayed quiet and let mom throw her whole career away." Lin said.
"Mom didn't throw her career away. She retired the next year. She was a hero." Suyin said.
"You think she wanted to retire? She was so guilt-ridden about what she did to protect you, she didn't feel worthy of her badge." Lin said.
"Look, I admit that I was not a perfect kid and I've made some mistakes in the past, but.." Suyin tried to say but Lin just scoffed.
"You made some mistakes?" Lin questioned.
"Lin, Mom and I already talked about this years ago and worked things out. If you had gotten together with us like we'd asked, you would know that I'm a different person now. I've been a different person for a long time." Suyin said.
"You think just because you live in a big, fancy house and have a chef who cooks you fancy food that you're a different person? Maybe you can fool everyone else, but you can't fool me." Lin said and Suyin looked hurt by that remark.
"Lin thats going too far. I don't know...AHHH!" Sean yelled in pain as she used metal bending on him before throwing him into a wall making Korra gasp as she rushed to her husband.
"Ok thats just getting really annoying." Sean said pissed off.
"This is gonna get ugly isn't it?" Korra asked.
"Yup." Sean said picking her up before jumping away to a safe distance.
"You know what Lin? You're the one who hasn't changed. You're still a bitter loner who only cares about herself. No wonder Tenzin ended things with you years ago." Suyin said.
"Uh oh." Sean said before the two of them started fighting.
"Aren't you gonna stop them?" Korra asked.
"Trust me from a guy who grew up with two siblings sometimes fights can sort things out. Though me, Turok and Will just mostly pranked each other and never actually fought." Sean said as Lin got tossed into a wall.
"You got it out of your system?" Suyin asked.
"Not quite yet!" Lin said as they were about to continue when Opal used her airbending to blow them back.
"What are you two doing? You're sisters! Why would you want to hurt each other?" Opal asked before Lin started to collapse had Sean not dashed to her.
"Lin?" Sean said concerned.
Next day
"Oy." Sean said stretching as he got out of his room.
"Well, well. Look who it is."
"Hmm?" Sean said turning and saw a man with white skin blonde hair and purple eyes.
"Noah?" Sean asked before Noah grins at him before getting into an Armlock.
"Good to see ya Kruger." Noah said.
"Likewise." Sean said.
"Let me guess. Another Avatar?" Korra asked holding Junior close.
"This is Noah. The Avatar of Power. One of the strongest." Sean said as purple lightning engulfed him.
"Pleasure." Noah said.
"So let me guess you're here to help?" Sean asked.
"Of course. Wouldn't miss the chance to fight." Noah said.
Thats when Sean and Korra walked out before seeing Lin and Suyin getting along.
"What did I tell ya? Sometimes fighting siblings helps each other." Sean said making Korra grin.
"I guess it does make sense." Korra said as they approached them.
"Well, nice to see you two getting along. Oh and uh Lin...One thing." Sean said.
"Yeah?" Lin asked before Sean punched her in the face much to her shock.
"Metal bend me again and I'll mess you up BIG TIME!" Sean yelled pissed off.
"Oooh. Right. Sorry." Lin said making Suyin giggle as Sean and Korra walked away.

"Hey Asami?" Korra said getting her attention. "Do you think you could watch Junior tonight?" Korra asked.
