Chapter 39: "Door to Heaven" Pt. 5

Another day, another chapter. Oh man, this is getting good guys. Some action is on the way! Before that though, reviews!

Dreadfuljoy: You got it. I'm actually surprised how few commented on that.

Fyr RedNight: Glad you think so. And thanks for adding to my paranoia.

Hivemind42: I haven't heard of Little Nightmares before, so I can't say that I'm willing to do this.

doometernal: I'm working on a Part 3 to my "Alice in Wonderland" fic, that one has another song I have in mind. Maybe two if I can get it to work within the story.

Alexdel27: Hehehe, who ever said anything about an air fleet? *wink*

Guest: Well to be fair, Pyrrha never died in this future, so in her mind she never stopped training him (at least until he went to flight training). Her taking the credit would be justifiable in this case since there was no one else who helped as much as she did, as far as she knew. And they never saw the Fall, so they wouldn't know about what Cinder did or what the results were. Without that info (and knowing the immediate future), she could say she trained him well, and she would be right.

Phoenix Warehouse Productions: Hadn't happened yet, give it time. I actually can't wait for that, since those two aren't the only ones to have funny reactions to that news.

JamesGachaYT: No dinosaurs, I already have plenty of animals to work with (kind of have to since I needed to make many of them extinct). Aside from Direwolves and Shadow cats, I got at least 12 other species to work with. Some poisonous (with the benefit of spitting poison), others far larger than the non-magical equivalent; some that flies, others that swim. I even have plants to help me. Have you ever heard of the "gimpy gimpy tree"? Trust me, that one is fucking terrifying, and something I want for my story.

Reader: Have a few for later, yes. It's no coincidence that I showed Jaune's children (and how old they are). While they won't be too important in the early screening of SG1, they will be for the later seasons. Plus, there's a character I'm planning to add that will replace Samantha Carter.

wearergolf: I haven't, no. The picture for that movie creeps me out though.

Visiter-9: I won't, sorry. I would need to rework the script to a point where I'd be practically writing my own movie. In other words, far too much work would be needed.

WearyCurmudgeon: For the ships, the specs are more like a Wiki page in appearance. This was why I had those three options, I never thought to format them into a side story. I suppose I could make Jack act as a curator for the audience, but that would mean revealing Magic too soon since nearly half of Arcadia's ships are powered by it. Maybe I could have Jack be the curator to the readers? Could that work?

Alright! Without further ado, let's get this show on the road!

Disclaimer in the prologue.

The screen shifts back to the pyramid, the storm still raging outside.

"Aww." Terra pouts, "I wanted to see more of my baby boy's first date."

Adrian blushes again. "Mama, stop!"

Alice glares, "Yes, stop." She says, much to her mother's surprise.

Terra though, ignored them and continued to complain. "They just look so cute together."

Alice started hissing in anger, causing Glynda to rub her back in an effort to calm her down. "Shh, it's ok sweetie. Mommy's here." She didn't know why her daughter was acting like this, but still did her best. Then she thought of something. "Would you like some more Honey Rings?"

Alice, still angry, just huffed and crossed her arms as she nodded. "Yes mama."

Glynda smiled, 'Gotcha', and shook her head. "What's the magic word?"

The little girl looked up at her momma and pouts with large kitten eyes, "Pwease?"

Giving in to the cuteness, another bowl of the cereal popped in front of her daughter, and Alice grinned. "Yay!"

Inside, Woods is sitting down near the radio as he's still trying to reach the others. The others are sitting next to various pillars eating some MREs, with Verte sitting next to his superior. "Adams, this is base, do you copy? Over."

Verte sighs and reaches over to shut the radio off. "Come on man, you're just wasting the power cell. We'll never get anything in this storm." He shrugs, "We'll just have to wait 'till it passes."

Woods scoffs and stands up. "Yeah, right. If it passes." He stops in front of the exit and points to it as he faces everyone. "You know, I was stationed in Vacuo, and I've never seen anything like it."

Verte rolls his eyes and takes out some playing cards. "Yeah, yeah."

Another soldier, who was setting up a portable stove, raises his head from his work. "I don't understand. Why don't we just turn the 'gate back on ourselves?"

Verte nods, "Yeah, how hard can it be? All we gotta do is turn the inner ring 'till it has the seven symbols right? Now that I think about it, there was this weird pedestal thing near the Stargate with the same symbols engraved on it. Why not use that instead of using it manually?"

Woods, sarcastically, smiles at his men. "Oh, well that would be great!" He gestures to the hallway that leads to the gate room. "We could just turn the thing on with that mysterious device, most likely in the wrong order, and materialize in the vacuum of outer space." He glares at the two. "Do you two have any idea how many possible combinations there are on that thing? Or how much power was needed to use ours in the first place? How's that tiny thing going to provide the necessary power?" (1)

Verte glared, ignoring the latter questions. "No, how many?" Seems he's also not above using sarcasm on a superior officer either.

Woods paused, then grumbled. "Shut up."

Penny hummed, "Well, how many symbols are on the Stargate?"

Jack looks to her, "39."

She nods her thanks. "Alright, 39. So according to Adrian, there are six points to pick out an exact location. Since one of the symbols would have to be the point of origin, there would actually be 38 symbols to have a plausible six-symbol address. So that would be…" A couple seconds later she frowned, not being able to come up with the answer. She sighs, and briefly goes to one of her robotic bodies, before heading back once she got her answer. "1,987,690,320 possible 'gate addresses." (2)

Everyone balked at the number. Yang shook her head, "Well they're fucked."

The group laughs or exchange frustrated looks. Just then, a loud roar is heard.

Outside the pyramid, a large beam of light begins shining down on the pyramid from above as a weird humming noise is heard.

Ruby gulped, "Hey guys?" She exchanged worried glances to her team, "Why does that noise sound familiar?"

Inside, everything starts to shake, and the men look around nervously. The soldier working on the stove stares at the thing as it rattles and threatens to tip over. He then looks up, "What the hell's happening?"

Outside, a large ship is seen slowly descending on top of the pyramid.

Back to the men, they ready their weapons and stand up, looking around warily as they put on their tactical glasses.

Verte cocks his rifle, "What the hell's going on?" The others quickly do the same and they circle around each other in a defensive formation, covering their blind spots. What the audience noticed though, was that unlike the others, Woods was only holding a pistol at the moment.

"He should grab his rifle, and fast." Winter noted with some trepidation over the situation.

Outside, the ship is starting to fully engulf the pyramid, lightning arcing between the two as it descends.

Inside, a heavy thump vibrates throughout the pyramid; the men losing their balance from the vibrations, but quickly regained their footing as Woods ordered them to stand ready.

Underneath the ship, four large sections descends and locks down on the pyramid in a vice. Immediately afterwards, lights come on throughout the ship.

Penny gulped, her mind drifting to the many pyramids back on Vacuo. 'If this ship, and others like it, could use the pyramids as landing platforms, then that means…' She paled at the thought, not wishing to think on it further.

Woods, noticing the vibrations stopped, tapped Verte and another soldier's shoulders. "Everyone, spread out."

They nod, and silently began circling amongst the columns whist scouting for danger.

Just then, the screen shifts, as if a person was holding it like a camera. (Roman: "What the hell?")

A distorted voice suddenly shouts "Kree shak!" One of the soldiers is knocked down with something akin to an electric sound going off, and is dragged away, his rifle left behind.

"Did anyone see that?" Nora asks in panic, but her friends shook their heads.

Velvet gulped, "No, it was too quick. I couldn't even see what it was that hit him."

Yang fidgeted in her seat, "I'm just wondering what the hell that noise was. It sounded like electricity, but warped."

Verte sees the body being dragged away, but no enemy. He takes a few steps forward with his finger on the trigger, before being hit in the back of the head with a blunt object and crumpling to the ground unconscious.

Yang shivered, "There it was again. What is that?"

Meanwhile, Neo flinched, rubbing the back of her neck as she mentally counted how many were left. "That's not good, they're down to three soldiers, and one's carrying a pistol."

Mercury gulped. "They're screwed."

Another soldier takes cover from a pillar, looking over the side, but when he goes back to cover he is hit in the face and his neck snaps with the same distorted electric sound going off.

Woods and another soldier was all that was left, and they looked around wildly. Above them, another noise was heard.

Outside, the top layer of the ship opens up, exposing more lights as the armor slopes downward.

Woods gestures with his hand for the soldier to take point while he grabs his weapon.

The soldier nods and starts moving forward, going around the corner of a column but only seeing their equipment. From the other side of the column, he spots Woods scouting around. He then moves to the next column, again seeing nothing as he tries to find whatever it was that had taken his friends.

While he was trying to secure the area, Woods goes over to the equipment stash, and grabs a rifle and some clips.

The screen switches viewpoints again, and shows the soldier from behind as he moves past a pillar. Just then, a noise was heard. The soldier quickly turns around to face the audience, but he was knocked down with another cry from the unseen enemy.

Alice and Adrian covered their eyes, no longer wanting to see this scary scene, while the other children winced at how easily the soldiers went down.

Many of the students gulped, knowing only one remained now.

The screen moves forward and turns left, showing the audience Woods' back as he loaded his gun.

Woods, hearing the sound of footprints, turns and fires his weapon just as the screen reached him, before being knocked to the ground. The man tries to get up, but a clawed hand slashes his chest, slicing through his armor and sending the man back down. The man, now injured, looks up in shock.

The screen switches to show a humanoid being's legs in sandals and leg armor, a metal claw wrapped around in its left hand as it lowers to the being's waist. The screen slowly moves up, revealing some more armor pieces around the chest, and a weird staff that has two wide parts on either end. As the screen moved to the head, everyone in the audience looked on in terror. On its shoulders, instead of a Human or Faunus, there was a metal jackal head that moved with glowing blue eyes and moving fins behind its long ears.

Woods, frightened and hurt, raises his hands in surrender as the creature moves its head to look down at him as the fins expanded.

The children shuddered at the image, while the teachers unconsciously winced.

Saph took a deep breath in an effort to calm herself. She knew the durability of Arcadian armor, and knew that even Grimm would have a tough time slicing through the metal as easily as that creature did. 'How did it even do that?' (3)

Blake gulped, "Hey guys?" Yang and Ruby glanced at her as she looked at the screen in fear. "I think I now know what that fossil thing in the underground base was."

At that, everyone looked back at the screen, and immediately saw the similarities. "Well, shit." Roman said, trying desperately to not show his fear as he took some deep breaths.

After the attack in the pyramid, the screen moves back to the city, where the storm still blows outside.

Seeing the fight, if they could even call it that, was over, Glynda and Terra gently encouraged their children to look again.

In a room, Jaune is seen with a pack next to him as he's sitting down and using a zippo lighter with the Arc symbol engraved on it to light a cigarette.

Skaara slowly approaches and stopped near the doorway. He watches with wonder as the strange, violent man was doing something with a piece of metal. When a small fire suddenly appeared from it, he gasped and jerked back.

Jaune, hearing the noise, looks over and sees Skaara. He smiles, and raised his hand with the cigarette in a calm down notion. "It's okay, it's just a lighter."

He closes the lid and waves the boy over. Skaara slowly takes a seat near Jaune, and he opens the lid again to show that there was no fire. "See? Here, catch."

Jaune closes the lid again, and tosses the lighter to Skaara who caught it with both hands. Skaara looks up, only to see an encouraging smile and nod. He opens the lid, and tries lighting it himself, thinking on how the man did it. After a few tries, he manages to gets the flame lit, and he stared at it in amazement. "Hai!"

Saph sighs with a frown, "While I do thank the Pillars that we didn't stay at the pyramid, I'm not sure how I feel about my baby brother showing a native how to use a lighter meant for lighting cigarettes."

Pyrrha and Ilia nodded, while Qrow shrugged, "I think it's rather sweet actually, and probably something I'd do for my kid someday." He thought of a scenario where he'd show his kid how to properly drink instead of smoke. 'A true bonding experience.' (4)

Winter shuddered in disgust, immediately thinking of the two of them married. 'I am sorry Finch, but I simply cannot stand this drunkard. Let alone letting him touch me long enough to have you and let him pass on his disgusting habit.'

Jaune smiles and nods. "Yeah, it's pretty great." He chuckles at the boys fascination, thinking it was adorable.

Skaara sees Jaune with his cigarette and tentatively approaches, reaching for one from Jaune's pack. Jaune shrugs and hands one to him. "Sure, here you go kid."

Saph frowned, "Jaune, I swear if you get this kid to start smoking I will tell mom."

Mercury scoffed. "Oh please, that the best threat you can do?"

She turned to him and raised an eyebrow, "I don't know, why don't you ask them?" She points over her shoulder to a shaking Robin, Altani, Chibi-Jaune, Alice, and Adrian.

The merc, while not caring about what a Chibi and some babies thought, still remembered the power display Robin made when she first arrived, and how utterly tiny he felt from experiencing it. 'Even her sister's shaking like a leaf.'

Cinder looked at the shaking children, and thought with a raised eyebrow, 'Just how powerful is this Arc matriarch?'

All of this had the added benefit of getting the people to distract themselves from what they saw earlier.

Skaara, nodding his thanks, sits back down and lights a cigarette. Then, trying to copy Jaune's movements, twirls the cigarette a bit between his index and middle fingers.

Aware of what he's doing, Jaune chuckles and takes a large drag off his cigarette, holding it before exhaling slowly. 'Let's see how he'll do.'

Skaara starts to do the same, but as he inhaled and tasted the tobacco, his eyes widened. A second later, he starts coughing and choking. Getting his second wind, he looks at the cigarette with disgust and drops it on the ground, stomping it out with a shout.

He turns to Jaune with a disgusted expression as Jaune laughs and nods. "Yeah, you're right. It is pretty stupid." He puts out his own cigarette with a smile.

Weiss hummed, "You know, now that I think about it, who was it that got Jaune to smoke in the first place?" She looked between Ruby, Pyrrha, and Ilia. "I don't think any of you three would've allowed him to smoke, especially with your children nearby."

That got the three of them to think. None of them really thought about it, but she did make a good point.

Jack, being the helpful god, decided to 'help'. "It was Neptune. He thought smoking was cool and somehow convinced Jaune and Sun. Luckily, Sun was able to kick the habit, but due to Jaune's career choice, he felt he needed the relaxant on some days."

Weiss looked in shock that Neptune would do that, while Saph was making a mental note. 'Neptune huh? Alright, I have a name to blame now.'

Meanwhile, Winter scoffed. "I never would've guessed. If I was a betting woman, I would have thought it was the drunk who convinced him."

Qrow, not liking her little accusation, spoke up. "Now wait just a minute there, Ice Queen. I would never have gotten anyone to smoke." He lifts up his flask, "Drinking, on the other hand, now that I can see doing. Get your facts straight."

Winter and Tai facepalmed, while Summer and Raven shook their heads.

Nora tilts her head to the side. "What career choice?"

Jack raised an eyebrow. 'Well, I guess since they only noticed how good he looked, no one ever asked which branch he served under.' Shaking his head, he said "He's in the Air Force, specifically a former fighter pilot."

That got his friends to pale a bit. Yang remembered the shoe incident, 'So much vomit', and thought Jaune was out of his mind for picking that as a profession.

Chibi-Jaune shrugged and gave a nod. "Yeah ok, I can actually see myself smoking now, if I thought I could be a fighter pilot. Those speeds would've absolutely killed me."

Skaara picks up the lighter again, and after brushing some sand off, offers it back to Jaune. The Arc though, waves him off. "Nah, you keep it. It's yours." He takes the boy's outstretched hand, and gently pushed the limb back to him.

Skaara is surprised by this, but soon grins as he understood what the strange man meant. Curious, he reaches over the cigarettes to Jaune's rifle. (Saph: "Don't do that!")

Jaune glances over just as Skaara is pulling the gun out, and suddenly grabbed the rifle away. "Wait, no!"

Skaara backs away, frightened.

Adams and Flynt, in another room, look over in surprise at their leader's reaction.

Jaune takes the rifle away and places it away from the boy. "It's dangerous!"

Skaara runs out of the building. "Kasuf! Kasuf!"

Jaune sits back down, staring at the exit before sighing in relief. "That was a close one." He looks over to Adams and Flynt, who studiously look away. Jaune slumps a bit in regret, but knew it would've ended badly if he allowed the kid to grab his gun.

Ruby sighed. "I don't like how he shouted at him, but Jaune makes a good point. If the gun had its safety switch off, Skaara could've accidentally hurt someone or himself."

Pyrrha nodded in agreement. "I don't know what Kasuf would've done if his son was hurt or killed."

The parents knew what they would've done if their children were killed. And they felt Jaune's actions, while a bit extreme, was needed to get the boy to safety.

The scene changes to show a cave, where Adrian and Shau'ri are moving some rocks away from the cave entrance, just enough to fit inside.

With the way clear, Adrian goes first with a torch.

Terra, glad for the change in scenery, squealed at seeing the two. "Yay, we're back to my baby's first date!"

Adrian blushed again, and started to hit his momma's chest in embarrassment. "Mama stop!" But due to his small size, it just came out as more adorable than he wanted.

Adrian looks around, "What is this place?" He helps Shau'ri step through the hole with his free hand, the young woman looking around as she reveals her own lit torch, and the two start looking around. The torches lights up a vast part of the cave, showing the Remnant glyph written on a wall close to them.

The young Arc stares at the hieroglyphs on the wall in amazement. He begins muttering in Ancient Vacuoan, reading the symbols aloud as he goes through the glyphs. "'Cypian. Rem-e-n-jef. Bah-ka-naf-sema. Tah-parief.' I'll be damned."

Shau'ri, a bit confused by his pronunciation of the words, repeats a variation of one of the words Adrian spoke. "Tah-pah-rief?"

He turns around, startled. "Huh? What was that?"

A bit more hesitant, but still willing to help, Shau'ri repeats herself. "Tah-pah-rief?"

Adrian licks his lips and tries the new pronunciation. "Tah-pah-rief."

Terra continues to gush over the two, while Adrian is now stuck with Saph holding him in her arms, pouting at his mommas.

Meanwhile, Alice was glaring at the woman onscreen as she balls her tiny fists in anger.

Shau'ri nods. "Tah-pah-rief?" She asks, wanting to make sure he got it.

He looks back to the glyph, "Tah-pah-rief?" Realizing something, he points to another pictograph and looks back to the young woman. "Ned-jed? Ned-jed?" He shrugs as he shakes his head in cluelessness.

Shau'ri shakes her head and smiles at the man, "Neh-dah."

Adrian smiles back, "Neh-dah."

Shau'ri nods in relief, finally being able to communicate with him on some level. "Tiu."

Adrian nods. "Tiu. Tiu." He looks to another symbol, and points to it. "Uh...Netjer, netjer-u?" He looks at her with childish anticipation now.

Shau'ri points to one of the glyphs. "Natay." Then she gestures to all the glyphs on the wall. "Naturu."

He copies her, trying to get the sounds right. "Nata. Na-tur-oo."

She laughs, and his smile broadens. "Na-fee!" She grins.

"I think I hear wedding bells~!" Terra cooed, and Adrian looks at his momma in terror.

Alice was now making hissing and growling noises.

Glynda didn't know what to do now, but remembering seeing some of her students acting in a similar way gave her an idea, an admittedly crazy one. "Sweetie?" She gently coaxed Alice to look at her. "Honey, are you feeling jealous?"

She expected Alice to shake her head or something, anything that a normal child would do to answer "No". She sure as hell didn't expect for Alice to turn her head to the side with a huff and cross her arms. "Adwian mine." She muttered with another glare to the screen.

Glynda's mind just couldn't comprehend that. 'W-What the hell?! She TWO! She's far too young to be thinking this!' Her imagination got the better of her, and she had another thought. 'I'm way too young to be a grandmother!'

The screen goes back to the pyramid, where Woods is seen being dragged by two alien guards through a large dark room, statues everywhere.

"Oh, well that's just great." Hazel grumbles, not liking that they were back at the alien pyramid. He actually preferred to see the 'date' happening rather than this.

The man soon wakes up, groggy as hell, and looks around.

Ghira shook his head. "I would not wish to wake up to something like this. Especially after being rendered unconscious."

Odin and Tai nodded, agreeing with the large Faunus.

The guards soon threw him on his face, his chest wound pulsing with pain as he noticed his armor was stripped from him. 'Well at least my wounds were patched, thank the Pillars for that at least.'

The aliens spoke in their coarse language, their metal heads bowing a bit as they kneel before a large device that begins shifting around. He couldn't see the heads, but assumed they were the same as the one from before. As portions of the device recedes into the floor, it reveals a strange, opened sarcophagus as Woods watches with fear. The screen briefly shifts to an overhead view, showing a humanoid being wrapped in some thin, dark garment which obscures its features.

The screen then shifts to Woods as he sees a humanoid hand with some weird metal pieces covering its fingers slowly come out of the device. The Jackal guard notices his looking and knocks him unconsciousness with the butt end of its staff, an electrical noise being heard as it smacked Woods' face.

Everyone winced at the hit.

Back to the city, the view shows the storm has finally settled.

"You know," Maria began, her eyes narrowed in anger, "something tells me that these aliens may have had something to do with the storm showing up in the first place. Seems far too unlikely that a sand storm happens just as the aliens arrived."

Saph, Raven and Qrow thought about it, and couldn't help but agree.

In the team's temporary base, Flynt is seen working on the radio. He sighs in frustration as he's still getting nothing but static.

Jaune walks to him with a frown. "No signal at all?"

Flynt shakes his head, "Nothing."

Jaune looks around him a bit with confusion and some suspicion. "More interference?"

Flynt just sighs, "No. They're simply not there."

Chibi-Blake winced, clutching Chibi-Jaune's hand as she prays for the poor soldiers imprisoned in the pyramid. 'At least I hope they're imprisoned.'

Several more shivered at the reminder.

The scene then moves to somewhere in the city streets, inside some pens for some of those alien creatures.

In one pen, Skaara is seen showing off his prize to some the other young boys of the city, explaining a bit on what it can do. He opens the cap, slapping a hand from the human boy the audience was introduced to earlier without looking.

"Come one, come all." Roman stands up, waving his cane around while tipping his hat like he was a carnival announcer. "Come witness the next greatest wonder in the alien sandbox we call a world: the lighter." His sarcastic wit had a few of the children giggling as the parents silently thanked the thief for the much needed distraction.

The light from the nearby torches reflecting off the metal mesmerized many of the boys as Skaara continued to explain. He then lights the lighter, and they all back away in fright. Skaara shakes his head with a chuckle, "Na-ney, na-ney." He motions for them to come back while reassuring them that it was safe. They do so, and Skaara grins while explaining that it was actual fire.

Saph couldn't help but giggle. "Heh, I think he's gonna be the most popular boy in town for a while."

Yang shook her head with a grin. "I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you, I seem to recall you doing the same thing earlier."

The same boy from earlier slowly reaches to touch the flame, not believing what his friend said, and burned his finger. The boy quickly retracts his hand with a small yelp of pain.

Skaara nods. "Ahh." He says with a certain smugness as he reaffirmed that it was actual fire. He turns his head to look ahead when he sees the man who gifted him the magic flames, and another person, having a conversation.

"Huh." Terra mutters, "What's Jaune and Adams doing?"

"Any sign of him?" The gifter asks.

The other person shakes his head. "No sir, I haven't been able to locate him. It's like he simply vanished."

The gifter mutters something, and looks down in frustration.

Skaara couldn't understand what was said, but he sees the second person doing something with his arm towards the gifter.

The screen shifts over to the two, and Jaune notices the boys. He returns Adams's salute and walks toward them, while Adams walks away in the other direction in an effort to find Adrian.

He is seen carrying Adrian's chest armor.

"Ohhh." Nora says in understanding. "Jaune's looking for his nephew."

Terra blinked. "Oh. Well, while I am happy that he's looking for my son, I think in this case he should leave him alone." She then grins, "He's on a date after all~."

Adrian facepalms with a cute little groan, while Alice just hisses some more.

Terra grinned. She saw how Alice reacted when she first announced her baby was on a date, and while it confused the hell out of her as to how little Alice understood the meaning behind the concept, she wanted to see if she could get them together as a future pairing. 'They may be too young to date now, but in the future? Well, as that General said, we Arcs always have a Plan B.'

The boys quickly got out of the pen and look at him.

Jaune waves his hand in greeting. "Hello guys, look we're looking' for Adrian." He noticed they're confused expressions. "Adrian? The guy who wears this armor?" He shows them the chest armor. Nothing.

Altani shakes her head. "I would've thought that would work, at least a bit. I don't see many people wearing Arcadian armor in their world."

Robin nods, "That's true. The chest piece should've been a major clue for those guys that he's looking for a member of his team."

Jaune points to his hair, "He's got shaggy black hair." He then ruffles his hair to further describe it, but all he saw were all the boys copying the gesture, thinking it was a game.

Ruby snickered, "That's just cute."

Jaune shakes his head. "No. No no no. No, it's like...He wears glasses, so he can see?" He places the armor down and puts his hands in front of his eyes, his fingers cupped as if grasping a pair of binoculars. The boys just simply copied this movement too. Jaune lowers his hands and looks around, but the streets are empty. He sighs with a bemused smirk as he looked back to the group. "I guess the word 'dweeb' doesn't mean anything to you guys, does it?"

Alice, getting off her little slump, giggled as Adrian pouts. "Me no dweeb, Oncl. You dweeb."

Yang and Weiss cooed at him, while Ruby and both Blakes chuckled.

Chibi-Jaune pouts at his girlfriend, but Chibi-Blake just pats his cheek. "Relax. You may be a dweeb, but you're my dweeb." She then pecks his cheek, causing him to grin a loopy grin.

He shakes his head and looks up with another sigh. "Yeah, should've expected that. Pillars give me strength." He looks back to the boys, seeing them still cupping their hands over their eyes. "I'm on planet X, looking for a dweeb who's wearing sophisticated battle armor," he blinks and briefly glanced at the chest piece on the ground, "at least as far as I know. He's got shaggy hair. He wears glasses and, *Sneeze* sneezes."

While he's speaking, Jaune mimes the description. The boys continue to mimic him in his strange game. After the sneeze though, Skaara's eyes lit up in realization. "Ich! Bwah! Bwah bwah bwah."

Skaara starts to mime Adrian's chicken impression at the dinner. The boys then start to copy Skaara.

Alice now laughed as Adrian blushed.

The students laughed as well, with a few cooing a bit at the little guy's blush.

Jaune grins. "Chicken. Chicken! Chicken!" He mimes Adrian tasting the chicken, pleased that they're finally communicating. Though only he and Skaara seemed to understand. The other boys are just making clucking sounds. Jaune claps his hands, "Chicken man! You got it!"

"Chicken man!" Yang says with a laugh, wiping away some stray tears of mirth.

Adrian just scowled at his uncle, causing his parents to try and comfort him.

Nora giggled as she tried to get Ren to make clucking noises too, with the young man just shaking his head. "Nora, no." "But Ren~! It'd be so cute~!"

Skaara turns around and orders the other boys to stop, though the one who burned his hand earlier continues his act, only stopping when Skaara slaps his leg and scolds him. He then turns back to Jaune, pointing at the armor on the floor.

Jaune looks down, "Wh- you want this?" He picks the armor piece back up and shows it to him.

Skaara nods, smiling as he takes the armor and runs over to another pen, speaking to the beast living there. The creature sniffs the armor, then starts trotting off. The boys follow as Jaune watches before doing the same. "Guys, wait for me."

Back at the cave, Shau'ri and Adrian sit on the floor, talking to each other in her native tongue.

"Awww, they're bonding~." Terra, Saph, Kali, and both Blakes cooed.

Yang and Weiss blinked, and they looked at their friend in shock.

Blake saw this, and blushed as she turned her head. "What? A Human and Faunus on a date will always be precious to me." Her inner romantic loved seeing stuff like this. That's actually part of the reason was why she wasn't opposed to having her Chibi self acting all lovey-dovey with Jaune's Chibi. Aside from the sight being adorable as hell, she saw an active example of Human/Faunus relations.

This is also the reason why Ghira wasn't over there, ripping the boys head off. No matter how much he wanted to.

Meanwhile, Adrian blushes again while Alice gives another hiss.

"Thought you couldn't speak their language?"

The two jumped, startled, and stood up before turning towards the entrance. Adrian chuckles nervously when he sees Jaune, Adams, Flynt, and Skaara walking towards them. "Oh, you scared me."

Jaune looks pissed, "Do you have any idea how long I've been looking for you, young man? How worried I was when I saw your armor strewed about with you missing?"

Adrian plays with his fingers. "Sowwy Oncl."

Adrian ducks his head as he and Shau'ri move to meet them. Adrian shuffles his feet a bit. "Sorry uncle."

Jaune sighs, and pulls his nephew into a hug. "Just, warn me next time before you go off on another adventure."

Adrian nods, and backs away from the hug, before gesturing at the wall. "Again, I'm sorry. But, look at what Shau'ri found. It's an Ancient Vacuoan dialect. I mean, it's like the rest of their culture. It's evolved completely independently. But uh...once you know the vowels..." He grins a bit in pride.

Jaune blinks. "Who's Shau'ri?"

Adrian looks at him, before facepalming in embarrassment. "Ah, right. You two were never properly introduced." He gently takes Shau'ri's hand and presented the two. "Shau'ri, Jaune. Jaune, Shau'ri."

Ruby gushed. "Aww, it's like he's introducing his girlfriend to his parents."

Terra and Saph pouted, wanting the honor for themselves. "Now that's just not fair, he's our son." Saph mumbled.

Jaune nods, "Hey, how's it going?" Shau'ri just smiles nervously. He then turns to Adrian, "Now, answer the question."

Adrian blinked, "What? Oh! Well, uh. I-I mea- I just had to learn how to pronounce it. I mean, it hasn't been a living, spoken language in more than one thousand years. I mean, look at this." He points to an figure on the wall with the eye of Ra over his chest. "It says, uh: 'A traveler from the distant stars escaped from a dying world looking for a way to extend his own life.'"

The screen shifts to show a room being showered in sparks, with a shriveled alien creature, similar to the pictograph description, lying down as it cried out as if in pain.

"Wait, that's what these aliens looks like?" Yang stared at the thing in shock and some revulsion at the creature's black eyes and shriveled skin.

Weiss shivered, "What is with the lines etched on its face? It doesn't look like battle scars, more like symbols etched on its skin."

Adrian and Alice covered their eyes when they saw the creature open its mouth, not liking the row of sharp teeth.

Mercury didn't like the echo sound the thing's cry made, thinking it was unnatural for a voice box to do that.

"'His body, decaying and weak...he couldn't prevent his own demise. Apparently his whole species was becoming extinct. So he travelled… or 'searched'...the stars looking for a way to cheat death.'"

The scene shifts back to the cave as Adrian points to another pictograph showing a pyramid with the sun above it. "And uh...look here." Everyone looks as he points to several small figures below a pyramid. Some looked like Humans, while others had long ears or tails, signifying Faunus. Another picture depicts a beam of light coming down from a pyramid, with a smaller Human figure under it with its arms covering its head.

The screen then goes back to the beginning of the viewing, where the alien ship was first seen waking up the villagers from Ancient Vacuo.

"He came to a world, rich with life, where he encountered two primitive races, Humans and Faunus apparently. Two species which, with all his powers and knowledge, he could maintain indefinitely. He realized within these new bodies, he had a chance for a new life."

The same boy from the beginning is seen heading towards the strange lights in the sky.

"Now, he apparently found a young boy. It says: 'As the frightened villagers ran, night became day. Curious, and without fear, he walked towards the light.'"

The boy walks to the strange lights and a beam of light shines on him, his eyes widened as he stares at the light with shock.

Back in the cave, Adrian frowns at his audience. "Ra took him, and possessed his body, like some kind of a...parasite looking for a host."

By this point, everyone was pale as they were told the story.

Ruby and some of the mothers were tearing up as they now know what befell the boy from the beginning of the viewing.

"That poor child." Frigga said, her husband trying to comfort her as she covered her mouth in sorrow.

Salem and Ozpin were shocked, but curious. They thought that this may have been the reason for how Humans and Faunus were brought to this world.

Adrian continued, this time while gritting his teeth. "And inhabiting this human form, he appointed himself ruler."

More pictographs show Ra as ruler over the people, sitting on a throne and wearing a large headdress that covered his face. On either side of him, were guards acting as sentries. What caught the audience's interest, was that the heads looked more like eagles rather than jackals. (5)

He scrolled to another pictograph, this time showing an active Stargate with people walking through it. "He used the Stargate to bring thousands of people here to this planet, as workers for the mines, just like the one we saw."

Penny felt sick, seeing the proof of her theory.

Meanwhile, the Arcs and Faunus all scowled. They understood what Adrian meant by "workers".

The two immortals felt some morbid satisfaction at being proven right. 'Though if that's the case, are there more worlds out there with Human and Faunus populations?'

Adrian moves over to another picture showing workers bringing some lumpy looking things as offerings to Ra. "This mineral is clearly the building block of all his technology. With this, he can sustain eternal life."

The scene briefly shifts over to Ra's ship, where Ra rises up from the sarcophagus with a deep gasp.

Adrian then moves over to a different scene. "Now, something happened- where is it? Ah, here, back on Remnant." He pointed to it, showing a picture showing figures putting the Stargate in a hole, while some more figures were lifting a guard over their heads. "A rebellion or uprising happened, and the Stargate was buried there."

The scene shifts to show Humans and Faunus carrying the bodies of some eagle headed guards, raising their arms in victory.

The Faunus cheered, seeing Ra's guards being overthrown.

The scene shifts back to Adrian as he turns to his audience, the shadows masking half his face. "Fearful of a rebellion here, Ra outlawed reading and writing. He didn't want the people to remember the truth."

Many in the audience couldn't help the feeling of anger at the so called 'god'.

Cinder scowled. "I can't wait to show him just how much of a mistake he made when he left our planet like a coward." 'He had a spaceship, and no doubt the ability to quash this rebellion from orbit. And he still lost. Pathetic.'

Salem and Ozpin wanted to go over there and deal with this pretender. 'He is no god. Only a parasite that must be destroyed.'

Adams' head pops up from around the corner from where he'd been exploring another part of the cave. "Uh, Adrian? I think you should take a look at this."

Adrian and Jaune follow Adams to a room, followed by Flynt, Shau'ri, and Skaara. Inside, they see a round stone, similar to the centerpiece of the Remnant Stargate's cover stone, imbedded in the wall.

Adrian grins and points at it. "That's it! That's what we're looking for! They must've hidden it here in hopes that one day the 'gate on Remnant could be reopened." He walks to the stone, wiping some of the sand off of the markings. "I knew they'd have it written down someplace." As he starts to see the symbols on the stone, he couldn't help but laugh a bit in triumph.

"Well that was lucky." Ruby says in relief. "Now they can come home."

Weiss shakes her head, "Assuming they can survive Ra's guards."

Yang glares at her teammate. "Why you gotta break balls Weiss? They have the combination now, all they need to do is distract the guards long enough to dial the 'gate and return home. Then it's a simple matter of burying our Stargate."

Blake raised an eyebrow. "And what about the people on that world? I don't think Ra will be happy to know his 'workers' had helped shelter these people who entered his domain."

Yang sagged in her seat. "Oh yeah." She then looked up, "Well, maybe Jaune and the others can help with that."

He stops when he feels a jagged edge from where the bottom part of the stone had broken off. He blinks in shock, "Wait a minute. Where's the seventh symbol?" He bends down, frantically trying to find the missing piece on the ground. "It must have broken off. It's gotta be here somewhere. It's gotta-got it, here." He finds two broken pieces and brushes away the sand, piecing them together. His face falls as he sees the stone smoothed over.

"Fuck!" Odin snaps, curling his meaty fists as he thought for a moment that they had a shot at returning home.

Frigga sighs, "Well, there goes that."

A few others were cursing their bad luck. The children were scowling at the pieces, damning the rocks to hell for snaping off of the stone.

Penny though, frowned. "But wait, if they have the other six symbols, wouldn't it be relatively easy to guess the Point of Origin?"

That got them all to pause.

"Hey yeah." Nora nods, "With the other symbols, all they need is to guess the last one. And there's only uh…" She turns to Jack.

Jack sighs, "39."

Nora nods. "39 symbols on the Stargate. With the other symbols set, all they need is to guess 39 times before they get the right one. And even then, I doubt they'll be so unlucky as to get all of them wrong until they enter the last symbol on the inner ring."

Weiss though, shakes her head. "Unfortunately, there is still the matter of the large spaceship currently parked on top of the pyramid. A spaceship filled with who-knows how many guards."

Nora frowns at her. "Yang's right, why you gotta break balls?"

Adrian looks towards the others, and shakes his head. "It's worn off. I can't make it work without the seventh symbol."

Jaune scowls "All right, that's it. Adams? Flynt? We got the first six symbols, we only need the last one. Time to move out." Jaune leaves, the others following as they moved out of the cave.

The scene changes to show the outskirts of the city, where Jaune and his team are leaving for the pyramid.

Adrian stops and looks back, seeing Shau'ri standing at the city gate watching them go with a sad expression. He looks devastated as well, and slowly waves to her in farewell.

Saph and Terra looked sad. "Oh no, and they were just hitting it off." Terra said, seeing the sadness in the young woman's eyes, and felt her heart go to her. 'That poor girl.'

Adrian frowns a bit, and waves his hand like his older self. "Bye-bye."

Alice frowned. She thought seeing the woman being left behind would be a happy moment for her. But seeing Adrian all sad, made her sad too. She places a hand over her chest, "Ouchies."

Adams looks back. "Come on, Adrian."

Adrian starts moving again, but continues to look back at Shau'ri. She continues to watch as they crest over the dune and vanish from sight. She bows her head and moves back to the city.

The team walked across the dunes, hoping to regroup with the other fireteam. Behind them, Skaara and the other boys follow, staying low to remain unseen by the team.

Ren smiles a bit. "Looks like Skaara doesn't want to say goodbye just yet."

Soon enough, the team crest the final dune, some were breathing sighs of relief that they made it back to camp. That stopped when they spotted the spaceship parked over the pyramid. They immediately drop to the ground, weapons at the ready, Adams quickly pulling Adrian down with them.

Jaune checks things out with binoculars. "What the hell is that?" Through his sight, he could see the pyramid completely enveloped by the ship.

Adams cocks a pistol, and hands it to Adrian. "Here. You might need this."

Jaune cocks his rifle, gets up and starts running to the pyramid. The others eventually follow.

Skaara sees them running inside, and tells his band to follow him as he moves towards the ship.

Ruby gulps. "M-Maybe they'll have better luck than the other fireteam."

Winter nods, "Perhaps, it's still bright outside, thus making it harder for the alien guards to hide in the shadows. Those guards had been able to surprise the last team when it was night, and when the soldiers were still recovering from the sandstorm."

James nods. "And in that one flashback, we saw a guard being overpowered by people wielding stone tools, not firearms. Their chances are indeed better than the others."

END

Yeah, their chances are better alright.

Alright, another chapter finished. Hope you all enjoyed, and had a safe day. Until next time, peace!

List of current Jaune's children in the Nexus:

Neo: Lucy

Emerald: Peridot & Garnet

Vernal: Amber

Raven: Robin

Sienna: Altani

Glynda: Alice

1. The DHD. Abydos actually has one, but we never saw it in the movie (at least I never did, but the show has it though). As for Woods' doubts, well to be fair he wouldn't know it could. All he knows was that it took several large generators, and three supercomputers (as explained by Sam in SG1), to get a control system in place to work the symbols on the Stargate on Remnant. And this was all in a base under a mountain. Something as tiny as a DHD being able to do the same would seem rather impossible to him.

2. I got that number out of the Stargate wiki. Just in case you guys are curious, here's the link: stargate -sgc .fandom wiki /Glyph #:~: text= Destiny, indicate .

3. The claw, in this version of the movie at least, is made out of Naquadah rather than normal metal and gold. This is to show both how durable the Arcadian armor is (against anything found in Remnant like the Grimm), and how largely useless it currently is against any sharp objects made of Naquadah.

4. He's an ex-bandit that until recently had more bad luck than a black cat walking under a ladder, what'd you expect? Old habits die hard.

5. I know Ra had a Jackal and Horus guard on either side of his picture, but I felt it added symmetry if I just had the two be Horus guards. Plus, it would be a slight against Anubis if I got rid of the Jackal guard picture (those of you who know Stargate, you know what I'm talking about).
