Chapter 40
"…Dad?" was all Hiccup had to say as he enters his mom's house and sees her and Hiccup's dad in the living room.
Stoick and Valka turn to face Hiccup and both nearly bolt off of the sofa to hug him. "Son, ya did it! You saved the whole Hoenn region!" Stoick says.
Valka adds, "We saw everything on the news, we still cannot believe that Rayquaza and all those other legendary Pokémon helped out you and your friends."
Hiccup nods. "Yeah, I couldn't be happier! Except…" Hiccup only had 40 minutes left before he had to be transported back to Berk, so he needed to make this quick.
Stoick stops hugging Hiccup to look down and ask, "Except…what?"
Hiccup sighs and replies, "Well, as you both know I am not from this world, I am from a world where you two and just about everyone I've met exists but as different people, but what you don't know is that I was sent here to help save the Pokémon world from a great disaster, and that's just what I did so…"
Valka lays a hand on Hiccup's shoulder. "So…it's time for you to go back then?"
Hiccup nods. "Yes. But there's something else…in my world…Dad…you are dead. Killed by one of the most evil men in my time, and…well…I just never got the chance to say goodbye so…"
Stoick places his giant hands on Hiccup's shoulders and replies, "Well then…I suppose I ought to give you that chance."
A tear forms in Hiccup's eye as he leans in and hugs Stoick as tight as he could, which was saying much considering his…form. Stoick also hugged him, but was careful not to crush the thin boy. Valka went up behind Hiccup and proceeded to hug him as well.
Hiccup sobs a few times before looking back up and Stoick and saying, "Dad…I love you."
Stoick smiles and replies, "I love you too, son. I am very proud to call you my son, even if you're not truly my son."
Valka adds, "We both wish you good luck on your journey back to your home world."
Hiccup replies, "Thank you…oh, I suppose there's some more goodbyes I need to give." He takes a Pokéball from Stoick's belt and rushes over to Professor Birch's house where he asked for a quick visit from someone.
Hiccup then exits and holds 8 Pokéballs before tossing them and sending out the creatures inside. He says to all of the Pokémon, "Guys…thank you for giving me such a special journey. Each and every one of you, I am incredibly proud of." All 8 Pokémon get tears in their eyes, as they know this is a goodbye.
He looks to the yellow chicken. "Combusken, I got you as a Torchic as my very first Pokémon, and your fire power has proven to be highly useful in battles."
"Commmm!"
Then to the brown humanoid tree with white hair and leaf hands. "Shiftry, you were the first Pokémon I had ever captured. I found you as a lone Seedot on Route 102, and when you evolved into Nuzleaf during my battle against Fishlegs, you soon proved to be one of the strongest Pokémon I have."
"Shift!"
Then to the big, blue fish. "Swampert, you were just a lone Mudkip on Route 103 when I found you, and yet you became the first Pokémon I experienced Mega Evolution with, and you have definitely gotten me out of trouble on numerous occasions."
"Swam-pert!"
Then the yellow cat with two spoons. "Alakazam, I met you on Dewford Town as an Abra, and while you didn't quite want to come with me at first, your psychic abilities made you a very powerful ally, and being able to revive yourself during the battle against Dagur was all too impressive, so I thank you."
"Alaaaaaaaaa!"
Then the black beetle with a yellow head and the tan shell with a white halo next to it. "Ninjask, Shedinja, I found you both as a Nincada on Route 110. Some didn't think you could amount to much, but I think both of you proved that Bug Pokémon can, in fact, be strong."
"Nin-Nin!"
"Shed!"
Then the purple rabbit with speakerphone ears. "Loudred, I know I didn't see much of you since leaving you with my dad, but I first found you as a Whismur on Route 116, and your incredibly loud, echoing voice easily made you a great ally, and a powerful friend."
"LOUD!"
Finally, the black dragon with green eyes. "Salamence, what else can I say? I got you as an egg after helping out a group of Salamence in Meteor Falls, and even as a baby Bagon you proved to be incredibly powerful, even taking out Heather's Altaria, and when you helped me get to the Sky Pillar to find Rayquaza, it was just as much of a reason to call you a good friend."
"Grahh!"
"You all are fantastic Pokémon, and I'm sorry that my time with you has to end like this, but it's for the best." He looks over to Stoick and Valka before saying, "That's why I'm leaving you guys in the hands of my parents, I know they will care for you well."
Stoick replies, "I'd be honored to look after them, maybe even teach them a thing or two of my own."
Valka adds, "And every time I look at them, I will think of you, Hiccup, and what sort of wonderful son you've turned out to be."
Hiccup smiles wide as his Pokémon rush up to give him an easily overwhelming group hug, making him nearly fall over instantly. "Ok, guys, I love you all too! I'm going to miss you all! Uh, could you release me, though?" The Pokémon do just that as Hiccup walks back over to Stoick and Valka before handing over his Pokéballs, his Mega Bracelet, and his travel bag as he wouldn't be needing any of that stuff.
Finally, after realizing he only had minutes left, Hiccup says to Stoick, "…Goodbye, Dad…I love you, so much."
Stoick nods and replies, "Goodbye, Hiccup. Safe travels, my son."
With that out of the way, he gives his parents one last hug before looking up at the sky and saying, "Arceus? You there? I'm ready to go!"
Arceus hears this and replies, "Very well…" Suddenly, Hiccup fades out of the spot he was standing in and appears in what looked like outer space. Arceus had appeared in front of him before saying, "Thank you, Hiccup, for all of your efforts. It has been a true honor to get to work with you."
Hiccup nods. "You're welcome, Arceus."
Arceus replies, "Should I need you for a task like this, I will call you…best wishes."
Within minutes, Hiccup finds himself caught up in a flash of light that encaptures him and makes him move a bunch.
Once the light had faded, Hiccup opens his eyes and finds himself standing in front of a very familiar door. It was the wood door that led to the inside of what was his Dad's house, now his own. Hiccup turns around and sees himself on the hill looking over the seaside village with large Vikings and even larger dragons roaming free.
Hiccup smiles wide and says, "I'm back! On Berk!" He then thinks to himself. "It's weird, I became so used to my life in the Pokémon world that I almost forgot about the life I lived here."
He then feels something different about his legs. He looks down and sees that his left metal leg is back. "Oh yeah, I had a flesh leg for so long that I forgot what having this metal piece of junk was like. Well, I'm sure it's not that hard to figure out how to walk on again."
He then hears a very familiar grunt next to him, he looks and sees a jet black dragon with green eyes and a red tail fin. Hiccup smiles even wider and says, "Toothless!" He runs up and hugs the Night Fury around the neck before saying, "I…I missed you so much!"
Astrid then walks up behind Toothless and comments, "You two were only separated for an hour, are you really that dependent on each other?"
Hiccup raises a brow. "An hour?..." Of course Astrid wouldn't know, the version he met in the Pokémon world is not the same as the one he's known all his life. Hiccup wanted to tell Astrid or someone about the things he saw, but the problem was that he didn't think anyone would believe him, so he replies, "Astrid…it's been quite a bit longer than an hour."
Astrid raises a brow. "What do you mean by that?"
Hiccup chuckles. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." He then looks Toothless in the eyes and feels a rush of relief that he could see his best friend once again. Hiccup then thinks for a moment before saying, "You know what, Toothless? Why don't we go on a nice flight, just you and me?"
Toothless nearly jumped at the idea, so he turns to the side and Hiccup climbs on as Astrid asks, "Hiccup, you sure you're ok? You're acting a little strange."
Hiccup replies, "Astrid…some things are just best left secret." With that, Hiccup hooks his metal leg into the metal stirrup on Toothless's saddle, opening the tail fin and they both take off towards the sunset.
Hiccup may be the only person to know of his adventures in the Pokémon world, but at the same time he will always have those memories to look back on. For now, it was time for Hiccup to get back into the flow of his life on Berk as the chief with an Alpha to ride.
Also, as far as dragon trainers go, it was time for him to get back to that and continue to be the very best, like no one ever was.
The End!
Thank you very much for reading this story, commenting on it, Favoriting it and doing all that you did to show support on this incredible story.
I will say, there were some other routes I had in mind like having Hiccup stay in the Pokémon world and become the champion, but I am satisfied with the route I chose and I hope you are too.
Thank you for reading, take care and I'll see you later!
