Chapter 40: Special Request
When they woke up around noon, they cuddled without saying a word as they were coming to their senses, then once they were fully awake and able to function properly, they called the kids to check up on them, which they were glad everything went smoothly for everybody, before they called room service for some lunch, and as they were waiting, still cuddling, they were talking about the Vegas team they had met earlier that morning.
Eventually one conversation lead to another, and Grissom smirked when he mentioned. "And I think you gained an admirer."
She raised an eyebrow as she looked up at him. "What are you talking about?"
He chuckled. "You didn't see it? I think Mr. DNA specialist has a little crush on you."
"Who, Greg?"
"Did you meet another DNA specialist that I'm not aware of?"
She shook her head and chuckled. "No way."
"How could you, the most successful CSI that the Chicago crime lab hasn't seen in 15 years, not see it. Who, by the way, saw 'it' from the first time Stephanie met Nick, before you were even trained to be a CSI?"
She then smirked. "Well, easy, whenever you're in the room, I'm very distracted, everything else just flies out the window." When he shook his head while rolling his eyes, she chuckled as she moved up so she was more on her side while looking down at him before cupping his cheek. "I guess I wasn't paying that close attention, but obviously you were. You aren't really jealous, are you? Because you know I can't make someone else have or not have feelings for me."
With sincerity, he replied softly. "And I wouldn't blame him, or any other man for that matter, to feel that way towards you." He then raised an eyebrow as he asked. "But, if you were more aware of it, do I have a reason to be?"
She chuckled while shaking her head again. "Absolutely not, in any reality." She paused for a second before finishing her thought. "Maybe, I can see a sibling bond."
He then smirked. "Of course, when he gets over the crush he has on you." She just pushed at his shoulder while rolling her eyes before laying back down so her head was on his shoulder, then he kissed her head and whispered. "To answer your question more seriously, no, I'm not really jealous, because I know where your heart lies."
She smiled as she ran her thumb up and down his cheek. "Good answer."
He kissed her head one more time then it became silent for a minute or two before she spoke again, softly. "And speaking of alternate realities, what about you and Catherine?"
Grissom looked complete shocked. "What!? Excuse me?"
"I mean, I did feel a comfortableness between you and her. Not to mention watching you two work together, even though it was the first time, was pretty amazing, and I can only imagine how that could have played out if you two were working together from the beginning."
Grissom shook his head with a smile. "It never would have worked beyond colleagues."
Sara moved again so she was looking down at him again with a raised eyebrow. "And why not?"
He moved so he was laying on his side so they were now eye-level, the smile still on his face. "So, you want examples?" When all she did was nod with a smile/smirk on her face, he nodded and spoke again. '"Ok, example number 1, let's be real here, if I hadn't met you as earlier as I did, I don't doubt that I would be an even more awkward entomologist/scientist then I already feel that I am at times, so I don't see her ever giving me a second look, at least in that way." Sara was about to speak while cupping his cheek, but he cuts her off. "Example number 2, if she did actually manage to see something in me beyond friendship/colleagues, it wouldn't have lasted when Warrick came into the picture."
She had to give that to him as she nodded in understanding. "They do seem to have that 'it' factor going for them."
Then after one more nod, he took her hand and kissed it before looking at her with nothing but love. "And the last example, the most important example that I have, is that we already established last night 'we' are in any reality, so that trumps every other scenario out there."
Sara smiled while she ran her thumb along his lips. "Well played, Dr. Grissom, well played."
With his eyes beaming, they started to lean towards one another, but before they could kiss on the lips, there was a knock on the door before they heard 'room service', so he just kissed her on the forehead before getting out of bed and walking towards the door, while Sara watched his every move, wondering, even after, now 10 years of marriage (18 years all together), if she would ever stop falling in love with him. But then again that was the only 'question' out in the world that she wouldn't mind never getting answered.
The next night
Once they were done with their meal, they finally got out of bed, dressed for the day and went out to do some exploring/shopping for some souvenirs for the family, even gambled a little, something they hardly did because with them being young parents, they knew how important every dollar was, and whatever extra money they did have, it went to their child. Even now, with well established jobs, they were still very conscious on how they spent their money.
Then when it came close to dinner time, there was an actual change of plans, they ended up at the Brown residence since the babysitter had called at the last minute and said she couldn't make it, but Sara and Grissom had no problem with that, wanting to see /visit the kids, which while Sara watched Grissom interact with 8 month old Rick Jr., it gave her a familiar feeling, which honestly, she's been thinking about it for a few months now, hoping he would feel the same way.
After dinner and dessert was gone, Sara and Grissom said their goodbyes with a promise of lunch before they boarded the plane tomorrow to go home.
When they made it back to their hotel room, he opened the door to let her in first. Then once he had stepped in, she turned to him with a smile while closing the gap between them, and his smile cut off when her lips connected with his.
A moment later, while their lips were still connected, in fact getting deeper, he turned them around so her back was now against the wall, and before they knew it, their fingers had minds of their own as they moved to any buttons and zippers of their top layer of clothing without missing a step, which at this point in their lives it was second nature to them.
When they finally did pull back, breathing heavily, in nothing but their undergarments, he cupped her cheek and ran his thumb softly up and down it with a smile, she smiled in return right before he picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist while he carried her to the king sized bed, laying her down gently.
After a few passionate kisses, he was going to move from her and the bed to get to his bag to ensure they have a 'safe' night, but before he could move, she wrapped her legs around his waist and brings him closer before whispering, voicing her feelings with passion in her eyes. "One more, please?"
Grissom's heart was racing, in a good way, at the special request while he looked down and smiled. "Yeah?"
She nodded as now bit her lip. "Yeah, I've been tying to find a way to discuss this with you, but I didn't know how to bring it up."
He shook his head with loving eyes. "All you had to do was ask, honey, you know that." Before she could speak, he smirked. "Because you know I say 'yes' to pretty much anything you ask for." She started to smile, and as she was once again ready to speak, words left her mouth the minute his eyes turned darker and he whispered in passion while he was moving his lips to her neck. "Your wish is my command." She gasped and closed her eyes at the electric current that was running through her body at the feel of his lips against her skin as his hand slid down her body.
Eventually his lips were on hers again, both receiving and sharing some very deep passionate kissing while their fingers couldn't get enough of each other's bodies, only spurring them on even more as time slowly ticked by, where they made each passionate filled moment count.
Breathlessly, he moved from her and the sheets were being fixed around them while he laid down so his back was against the mattress, then he smiled as he looked over at her while she moved so she could lay her head on his shoulder. "If that didn't prove we still have it after a total of 18 years together, I don't what will."
She chuckled while placing her hand over the place of where his heart was, feeling it still racing. "That was pretty amazing."
He kissed her forehead as he whispered against her skin after taking a breath, both calming down a little more. "You are amazing."
She smiled before turning her head and kissing his neck softly, indicating she felt the same towards him, before sliding her thumb up and down on his chest once her head was settled against him again. "We've certainly came a long way from our first night together."
He placed his hand on top of hers that was on his chest and brought it up to his lips as he whispered. "But as far as we have come along since that night, I still wouldn't trade it for anything."
He kissed her palm as she whispered. "I wouldn't either."
With her palm still opened, she moved it off to the side to cup his cheek, and after making sure the sheet was secured to her, she moved up and kissed him softly on the lips a few times.
When she pulled back, they both saw the passion in their eyes brewing again, causing her to smirk. "It looks like someone still can't get enough."
He turns his body, and she moved her leg over his hip while he smirked as he brought her even closer. "Which, I'm not the only one."
Not ashamed one bit, she gave him a beaming smile. "I plead guilty."
He chuckled as they moved so he was more above her but he was still laying on his side. "And you're not ashamed to admit it."
She shook her head as she cupped cheek again. "Not one bit." Then with tears in her eyes, she whispered. "But, I got admit that sometimes it scares me how deep my love for you really goes, because if I ever lost..."
He cuts her off while cupping her cheek to wipe her tears away. "Hey honey, you're not going to lose me, you're stuck with me." He then smirked, but his eyes showed her he was serious. "Whether you like or not, you're stuck with me for the rest of your life, my heart will always follow yours, we are forever."
She sniffled with a nod. "Forever."
He repeated 'Forever' one more time as he lowered his lips down to hers to give her a sweet kiss, which she took deeper and brought him even closer. Then just before he could move so he would be completely above her again, she surprised him when she pinned him down so his back was on the mattress again and she was straddling his waist.
She smirked down at him. "I believe it's my turn to take control, after all our relationship has always been 50-50, in anything that we do."
He placed his hands on her hips as he moved so he was sitting up while he whispered one more time. "As I've said before, your wish is my command."
The moment they started kissing again, they were once again lost in each other.
Next Morning
When they finally woke up the next morning, they lounged around in bed, not really feeling any urgency since their lunch with Catherine and Warrick wasn't until around noon.
As time started ticking away, they ordered some room service for breakfast and called their kids once they were done eating, then after about an hour and half later, they finally got serious about getting out of bed and getting ready for their day, and while they love the life that they have and wouldn't it change it for the world. In fact, they worked hard for the life that they have, they will admit this little free time away from that life felt pretty nice, it was a way for them to reconnect, not that they have a problem with that, but they could take their time being together and not have to worry about phone calls for work or kids interrupting them.
Once they were done looking around the room to make sure they hadn't forgotten anything, they finished packing their bags before picking them up and headed towards the door, but before Sara could open it, Grissom had wrapped an arm around her waist lightly to stop her before turning her around and placing her back against the door before she cups his cheek and brings him closer so they could share a passionate kiss, and after they placed their foreheads together, he whispered. "And now we have Nevada."
Sara chuckled as she brings him even closer to her. "We most certainly do."
After a moment, he sighed as he pulled back before she ran her hand up and down his cheek. "You ok?"
"Yeah, a part of me can't stop thinking though, about what could have happened with the case had I not agreed to come here. I mean I have no doubt that this team could have solved it, but with my knowledge of what turned out to be the main factor in solving it, ended up..."
She cuts him off with a nod. "With them being in the right location a lot quicker to save the third victim's life." After he nodded again she asked with curiosity. "So, what are you getting at?"
"I don't know, maybe I rushed too quickly on dismissing the idea of taking cases outside of the state/doing seminars."
"So, you're really considering this career move?"
He pulled back so they could start walking out of the room while he replied. "And I can see you're not really keen about it."
She took his hand when they made it out in the hall before replying. "It's not that, you know I want you to do whatever makes you happy, and if this is what's going to make you happy, then go for it. It's just that with the point that I am in my career, which I am not ready to give up, I know I won't be able to go with you as much. Plus, the kids are still too young for us to be traveling together without them, there are still too many moments in their lives I want to be apart of."
He nodded in understanding as they stopped at the end of hall before replying as he pushed the button for the elevator. "And that's the road block that's holding me back." He paused as they walked into the elevator before continuing while she pushed the button for the lobby. "But, on the other hand we could use the extra money. Not that I do this for the money..." He paused for a second again as he placed his hand on her stomach with a smile. "However, with a potential new addition to the family, every dollar counts. Not to mention, I promised you a house one day, and I'm not giving up that promise/dream."
She turned her body and cupped his cheek again with a smile. "I get what your saying, and I want you to know that as long as we are together, I don't care what our address is." He was about to speak when she continued. "But with all that being said, if this is something that you truly want to do, then like I said before, go for it." She took a breath before whispering. "But please, if you can help it, make sure the job doesn't keep you away from me for more than a week at a time, because then I'll really go crazy without you."
He smiled softly as he took her hand from his cheek and kissed it softly before replying. "Nothing has been decided honey, this is still in the idea/thinking process. I just wanted to get a feel on what you thought about it since the last time we talked about this."
They slipped their fingers through one another's while walking out of the elevator as she spoke softly. "And thank you for bringing me into your thought process."
He nodded with a smile. "Of course, honey, I respect your opinions." He then moved closer to her ear and whispered. "Besides, you know I don't do anything without your full consent."
She knew she could take that in two completely different directions, but she chose the more 'innocent' version as she chuckled while looking at him. "You make it sound like I'm your boss."
He smirked with his eyes sparkling. "In many ways you are, you have seniority in the lab, you own my heart, and at home, particularly in the..."
Sara gasped, cutting him off as she placed a finger to his lips before speaking with a smile while they stopped in the check-out line. "Gilbert Arthur Grissom, we are in public right now, keep those thoughts to yourself."
He smirked as she removed her finger from his lips. "Ok, for now."
She shook her head with another chuckle as they started walking again. "Man, what has gotten into you today."
He took her hand up to his lips and kissed it before replying with love. "We just celebrated our 10th year anniversary, I'm still falling in love with you, and I can't complain where my life has taken me so far, so I guess you can say I am in a really good mood."
She chuckled again. "Yeah, a very good mood."
They stopped again before he whispered one more thing. "And admit it, you love it."
She just pursed her lips, not saying a thing as she looked away so he didn't see her eyes, which caused him to lightly chuckle, knowing he was right, then after taking the last step towards the desk, the same woman who checked them in was behind it, and she smiled at the couple. "I hope you had a nice stay Dr. and Mrs. Grissom."
Grissom handed the keys over to her with a very beaming smile. "Yes we did, I can't complain about a single moment."
Grissom then turned his head to look at Sara, who was looking at him lovingly, feeling the same way, and despite the reason on them coming to Vegas in the first place, they couldn't deny how they felt about their time here.
