Chapter 40 The Stakeout

Sean rode on Naga as they followed Aiwei's scent with Sean hoping they would find Zaheer so he could get some straight answers as to why he was targeted.

Soon they came to a small town before Naga stopped.

"Sumbitch was here all right." Sean said seeing Tire tracks before getting off before they went into a bar.

"Uh Sean?" Asami said making him look seeing several posters of him and the others on the wall.

"Oooh. Movie posters. Must be fans of Nuktuk. I'll go say...OW!" Bolin yelled as Sean pulled his ear.

"They ain't Movie Posters dumb fuck. Those are wanted posters." Sean said annoyed. (The fame has gone to his head)

Sean took one with his wife's picture.

"Wanted for stealing property of the Earth Kingdom. Stole the rightful living weapon of the Earth Queen." Sean Read seeing a picture of Junior making him growl in rage before white Fire engulfed him before turning into the Ghost Rider and roared in rage making everyone run off screaming.

"Oh boy he is pissed." Asami said alarmed.

"I knew I should have killed her when I had the fucking Chance! RAAAAAAARGH!" Sean roared as the whole place exploded making Naga yelp as did Pabu.

Asami and the others hid behind a counter before peaking over seeing him calm down as he turned human.

"Yikes. I'm almost afraid to see him when he's beyond mad." Bolin said fearful.

"Yeah I'm in the same boat." Mako said.

Soon the group was back on Aiwei's trail before Naga picked something up.

"Good girl." Sean said as she stopped in front of a rock before Sean pulled out his sword and slashed it in half revealing his jeep making Sean grin before Naga nudged him.

"Eh?" Sean asked facing her. "Oops. I forgot to bring treats girl. But I'll make sure to give you a big one when we get back." Sean said making her whine before turning around and smacked him in the face with her tail. "Ok I deserve that." Sean said. (Still funny regardless)

"Bolin and I will investigate the misty palms oasis and see if he's hold up there." Mako said.

"Yes, I love it when you talk like a cop." Bolin said.

"Asami and I will wait here incase he comes back." Sean said.

"Right." Mako said as he and Bolin went into town.

Later

Sean looked at his Star Saber before he stabbed it in the ground before sighing before it glowed and blow up a rock.

"WHOA!" Asami yelled as Sean quickly pulled it out of the ground.

"Sorry." Sean said putting it on his back.

"Are you gonna be ok?" Asami asked.

"Yeah I'm just really confused. First they were after Korra and now I find out they were only gonna use her as bait to lure my father out and now they are after me. What the hell is he trying to do?" Sean asked as Asami looked in the jeep.

"I don't know, but I think I found a clue." Asami said handing him a note.

"Xai Bau's grove, sundown. Thats gotta be where and when Aiwei's going to meet Zaheer." Sean said before pulling out a map. "Now where is that?" Sean asked before spirts started swarming them. "Hey! Go away!" Sean yelled swatting them away.

"We found Aiwei hiding in an inn." Mako said approaching them.

"Good. We found something as well. It looks like he's going to meet Zaheer at sundown at a place called Xai Bau's grove." Sean said.

"But we can't find it anywhere on the map." Asami said holding it.

"I say we stake out his room and when he leaves for this meeting, we follow him." Mako said.

"So long as it leads me to Zaheer fine." Sean said.

Meanwhile

Korra sighed as she held Junior close as he slept peacefully in her arms making her smile kissing his forehead.

After what happened Suyin had tippled the guard around the place until the rest of the Task Force Sean led arrived.

Thats when the doors opened up making Junior wake up with a yawn.

"I'm not in the mood for a report so leave me alone." Korra said trying to put her son back to sleep.

"Well, I could always come back later if thats what you want."

Korra widened her eyes before turning around seeing her father who chuckled.

"Dad!" Korra yelled rushing to him and hugged him.

"How are you holding up?" Tonraq asked his daughter.

"I'm fine. Apparently Zaheer and his group were never really after to me to begin with. They were just gonna use me as bait." Korra said.

"Bait? For who?" Tonraq asked.

"They were trying to lure out Altair not knowing he was already dead by then. Now they're after Sean." Korra said.

"Why?" Tonraq asked.

"I have no idea. Maybe they know he made my kind of Avatar back then 10,000 years ago." Korra said.

"That might be possible." Makarov said walking in along with the other members of Task force 141.

"So say he's after Sean because his father made you're kind of Avatar. Whats he hoping to do? Turn them into other Avatars?" Tonraq asked.

"I doubt it. No...Something else is going on. They could have killed him last night when they had a chance but they didn't. No they need him for something." Hudson said.

"But for what?" Korra asked.

"Thats what we're gonna find out." Price said.

Meanwhile

Sean and the others waited in a small hotel room as it was almost sundown and Aiwei was not moving.

"It's almost Sundown. Why hasn't Aiwei left yet?" Sean asked.

"Maybe he slipped out when you weren't looking." Asami said.

"No he's there." Mako said before Sean had enough and rushed out. "Sean Wait!" Mako yelled before Sean kicked down the door.

"Oh well that explains why he hasn't left." Sean said seeing him in a mediative state. "He's not leaving to meet with Zaheer physically. He's in the Spirit world to meet with him. Thats what those spirits from earlier were trying to tell us." Sean said to Asami before getting on the bed before doing the same position. "I'm going in after him. At the very least I can learn what Zaheer is up to." Sean said.

"We'll watch him in case he wakes up." Mako said as Sean concentrated.

Sean opened his eyes finding himself in the Spirit world.

Rushing to one spot he soon found Aiwei who seemed to be waiting before Zaheer arrived making Sean narrow his eyes.

"Why didn't you warn us that there were other Avatars there? Because of you our plan failed to capture Kruger." Zaheer said.

"I had no idea all of them were that powerful. They were not the top four of the Avatars of old so I assumed it would be easy to take them down. That was a mistake. Add to the fact not much is currently known about the other Avatars of this generation since they are still young and still training to master all their abilities." Aiwei said.

"Because of you, we've all been compromised." Zaheer said.

"No, Any evidence was destroyed in the tunnel when I escaped incase Kruger could contain the blast." Aiwei said.

"Where is your physical body now?" Zaheer asked approaching him.

"At the Mist Palms inn. But there is no need to worry. I was not followed." Aiwei said.

"You left a loose end." Zaheer said.

"I assure you no one knows anything about us." Aiwei said.

"No, you are the loose end." Zaheer said grabbing him.

"ZAHEER!" Sean roared making him face him before vanishing.

Zaheer and Aiwei appeared in the fog of lost souls before Zaheer threw him in making him scream. (Oh he so deserved that)

Sean narrowed his eyes looking for them before he reappeared again.

"It seems he was wrong. He was followed." Zaheer said.

"Obviously. Where the fuck did you send him?" Sean asked.

"To the fog of lost souls. He'll be spending an eternity there for his incompetence. Which just leaves the two of us." Zaheer said sitting down.

"Don't fucking move." Sean said.

"There's no need for aggression. None of us can use our abilities. I'll answer whatever questions you have." Zaheer said making him frown.

"Who the hell are you people?" Sean asked.

"We are part of a secret society dedicated to restoring freedom to the entire world. We are the Red Lotus." Zaheer said.

"Red Lotus? Oh don't tell me you're related to those pushovers the White Lotus." Sean said annoyed by them since they had gone down hill in skill since the end of the war.

"Not exactly. We are what the White Lotus was meant to be, but after the hundred year war, the white lotus lost its true purpose. Its members came out of hiding and openly served the Avatar your father created. They became glorified bodyguards with members who were not fit to be part of the society since unlike the members from the hundred year war they did not have proper skills and served corrupt nations and governments." Zaheer said.

"Well at least theres one thing we can both agree on." Sean said since even the rookies at Atlas took down the so called most skilled members of the group which was just sad. (Seriously I know war brings out greatness in skill but COME ON! These guys SUCK! And I used to respect them so much during the original series)

"A great man named Xai Bau broke from the White Lotus and began his own society." Zaheer said.

"The Red Lotus. I'll admit your members at least have skill. Considering you have a woman who with no arms can still bend water A lava Bender and a Combustion Bender and now you. And I can only assume there are more members out there with actual skill unlike the White Lotus as it is now." Sean said.

"You'd be correct." Zaheer. said.

"That still doesn't explain why you tried to take Korra and use her as bait to draw out my father." Sean said.

"That was Unalaq's idea." Zaheer said making him scoff in annoyance.

"Why am I...Why am I not fucking surprised? Like seriously?" Sean said annoyed since even in death he caused a headache.

Meanwhile

Zaheer sat in a mediative state while the others sat around.

"Kruger. Misty Palms Inn. Find him." Zaheer said.

"You two go. I'll stay here and make sure Zaheer's body is safe." P'li said making them run off.

Back in the Spirit world

"I met Unalaq when I was a teenager after we had both joined the Red Lotus. We learned about Raava and Vaatu and how Avatar Wan foolishly severed them, disrupting the balance of the world forever." Zaheer said.

"Things like that don't just happen by chance. Fate and destiny is a tricky thing. Anything can happen for certain reasons and serve a purpose within life." Sean said.

"I can't really deny that." Zaheer said. (Which is so true)

"So what were you gonna do with Korra exactly?" Sean asked.

"Unalaq's main reason was to take her away from her father so the Red Lotus could train her to see our point of view and fight along side us. The rest of us on the other hand...Wanted to draw out your father. What we didn't know however though was that Altair was killed by his own siblings because they were corrupted by black magic." Zaheer said.

"You know about that huh?" Sean asked.

"Reznov told me parts of the story. And you all have scars from those days." Zaheer said as Sean took down his hood and mask showing his face.

"So if Unalaq came up with the idea why didn't you ever say anything?" Sean asked.

"The Leader of the Northern water Tribe ordered us to kidnap his own niece? Even you can see no one would believe that. And he could have exposed us to save his own skin." Zaheer said.

"I see. So my guess is he wanted to pursue his own goals." Sean said.

"Yes. He let me and my friends rot in jail while he pursued his own selfish goals. Becoming a Dark Avatar and Freeing Miraak were never part of our objectives. We knew the Truth about Miraak long ago but he clearly never did. We knew freeing him was too risky and figured your father would have sent Vaatu to the Void just as you did." Zaheer said.

"Well, at least you knew your facts. Now why did you want to use Korra to drag my Father out?" Sean asked.

"We knew Altair created her kind of Avatar and assumed he would search for her since we knew he had come back at one point and would use her to draw him out when word came that the new Avatar of these lands was missing. We just didn't know at the time he was already dead you had taken his place." Zaheer said.

"But why? What were you trying to do? Learn some ultimate knowledge or great power?" Sean asked.

"No. This had nothing to do with him directly or you. It has to do with your Great Grandfather." Zaheer said.

"My Great Grandfather? What does he have to do with this?" Sean asked.

"We only wanted to talk with Altair to undo what Draco Kruger had done. Something that never should have happened a million years ago." Zaheer said.

"What are you talking about?" Sean asked.

Meanwhile

Sean still in his meditation sat on the bed as the others watched over him.

However Mako looked outside seeing Ming-Hua and Ghazan walking around.

"Uh, I don't know how, But Water arm lady and Lava guy found us." Mako said.

"How?" Asami asked.

"I just said I don't know how." Mako said before Bolin shook Sean.

"Sean, come on, wake up." Bolin said but nothing happened.

"What do we do?" Asami asked.

"Get Sean out of here." Mako said as he and Bolin lifted him up and put him on Naga. "Bolin and I will hold them off." Mako said.

"Oh Kruger." Ming-Huya sang. "Where are you?" Ming Hua sang.

"Can you please not do that?" Ghazan asked making her snicker before a door opened up and Naga rushed out with Sean and Asami.

"KRUGER!" Ming-Hua yelled about to chase them but Mako fire bent at them making her growl.

In the Spirit world

"What we wanted him to do is undo an act that never should have happened. The sealing of the Primordials." Zaheer said.

"Huh?" Sean asked.

"As you are well aware. The Primordials are the very beings who forged the earth long ago before mankind. Everything that lives and breathes is because of them." Zaheer said.

"I know that already what are you getting at?" Sean asked.

"Draco never should have sealed them inside the First Generation of Avatars to use their powers for their own purposes. They interfered with the natural order of things." Zaheer said.

"What are you talking about? All there was back then was Chaos." Sean said.

"Exactly. The Natural order is Disorder. The idea of having nations and governments is as foolish as keeping Spirits and man separate. You've had to deal with a moronic President who's tried to take away your son at every turn for some selfish reason and a tyrannical queen who tried to kidnap him and turn him into a living weapon for world domination. Don't you agree that the world would be better without leaders like them?" Zaheer asked making him frown.

"If you were just talking about people like them I would fully agree. But clearly you plan to kill every world leader. There are leaders for a reason. And there are good leaders in the world." Sean said.

"Don't be so naive about it. The Fire lord who wiped out the Air nation started the war because he believed his people deserved to expand and conquer the other nations. Even good leaders can go too far." Zaheer said making him look away since he couldn't deny that. "You see I'm right don't you?" Zaheer said. (Sadly he's not wrong)

"Ok so I'll admit some leaders can take things over the line. But people like that are becoming less common. The world is coming together again after the war against Unalaq. Things are peaceful and the world is running out of people like Unalaq. A new world is taking place with this generation of Avatars." Sean said.

"Do you know who once said, New Growth cannot exist without first the destruction of the old?" Zaheer asked.

"Enlighten me." Sean said.

"The Wise Guru Laghima, An Airbender." Zaheer said making Sean glare. "And in order for a new world to truly grow...It needs the Primordials set free." Zaheer said.

"Your out of your fucking mind. Even if I did want to set it free I don't know how. And more importantly I'm sure my Great Grandfather had a reason for sealing the Primordials inside him and the first generation of Avatars. Most likely to keep them out of the wrong hands like people I've put down in the past." Sean said.

"If you truly wish for a new and better world to take place the Primordials must be set free. And we already know how to do so if you will not agree with us." Zaheer said.

"What does that mean?" Sean asked annoyed.

"You'll find out soon enough. The Red lotus should have you by now." Zaheer said vanishing.

"ZAHEER!" Sean roared.

Sean opened his eyes seeing he was restrained heavily to prevent him from gaining any momentum and felt his other powers shut down for some reason.

"ZAHEER YOU SON OF A BITCH YOU TRICKED ME!" Sean roared before looking at Asami. "You okay? Where's the rest of the Red Lotus?" Sean asked.

"Whats the Red Lotus? Zaheer didn't capture us. The Earth queen's forced did." Asami said making him growl.

"You gotta be fucking kidding me. Where are we?" Sean asked.

"I'm not sure. Some camp by the desert. They're taking us back to Ba Sing Se." Asami said making Sean growl in anger

"I should have killed that dumb bitch when I had the chance." Sean said annoyed.

Meanwhile

"The Earth Queen's army snatched Kruger up before we could get to him." Ghazan said before he and Ming-Hua dropped Mako and Bolin who looked beat up.

"But we figured you could find a use for these two." Ming-Hua said.

"Load them in the Truck. We're taking a trip to Ba Sing Se." Zaheer said grinning.
